Expensive Brick -Failed verification during debranding - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

HELP needed please
Tried to change my Vie -L09C02B133 to L09C432 - unlocked bootloader and rooted no probs so took the plunge and followed the video to debrand
After the first step re changing oeminfo again everything seemed to be ok however when my phone rebooted i got a red message saying that the phone had failed verification and may not work properly . It then asked for a password.
After a couple of reboots the phone came on but with no keyboard -
After another reboot i can't get past the Huawei logo ....
Any help appreciated

volume down & power gets me into fastboot & rescue mode bot not letting me connect to hisuite on my pc

power off phone, eject sd card place in pc copy the L09C432 firmware to dload folder ( marshmallow ) , place sd back in phone, hold down vol up + vol down + power buttom and it should flash the L09C432 fimware.
It should boot normally now

My phone wont shut down.......I can restart it but it comes up with the verification error and then sticks on logo - ive tried to put the firmware - L09C02 into the dload on my sd card but still no luck ... was originally on L09C02 before running into probs with the debranding

Ok first thing , you have already changed oeminfo , so you can not roll back at this stage to your old firmware, u changed to L09C432 so you need to download L09C432B180 I think it is, might be B181, once you have downloaded that fimware, extract it, you should have a file called UPDATE.APP, remove sd card from phone , place in pc, create a folder called dload in root directory of sdcard, then copy update.app to that folder, only update.app, then hold down volume up + volume down + power button, after phone restarts and Huawei logo appears, release only the power button, a couple seconds later release volume buttons, maybe 5 to 10 seconds after the phone should automatically start updating

Debrand Huawei p9

Hello everybody, I am trying to debrand my new Huawei p9. I have tried the dload method explained in the development section but I can't manage to make the upgrading start: when I press both volume buttons and turn on (with the downloaded dload folder inside the micro SD) the device simply vibrates two times and then reboot. Do you know if I am doing anything wrong or if there are other methods? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot
PS: I'm sorry if I am opening a new thread but xda doesn't let me reply to the original thread because I don't have the right to post in the development section of the forum.
You must press them at the same time, turn off the device and press the vols buttons first and them the power button. The .rar/.zip must be uncompressed on the SD.
HI thank you for your help, but that is exactly what I did: unzipped the file (which contained only the dload folder) and put it in the root of the micro sd. I turned off the phone and pressed the volume buttons (up and down) together and then pressed the power button. The phone vibrated twice then the logo appeared then the screen became back and then again the logo and this loop continued until I stopped pressing the volume buttons. Anyway I don't have the phone with me now so I'll try again tomorrow. Will it work also if I put the dload folder inside the internal memory?
put file, sd card dload folder work. I dont try in internal memory.

only hold down the volume up and down keys with power at same time until you see the Huawei logo then let go. do not carry on holding them down - this is what was causing your phone to loop
Thanks for the help it worked! I spent so much time trying to understand what I was doing wrong while it was so simple.

Hello,
I would like to debrand my phone. I read some guide here and I will use srk tool.
Now I'm on c02b133.
Which is the correct procedure?
have I to install via dload c432b136, go to c900 and then unlock bootloader, root e oem info file?
Or have I to unlock bootloader, root, oem info file and then flash the rom c432?.
I have this doubt because in some post, someone told to reinstall stock recovery after root, and forced the installation of the stock rom..so I'm not sure about correct way.
Thank to everyone

EVA-L09C150: Change firmware to C432. Possible?

Hi all,
I have a branded L09C150B182 huawei P9 phone.
Is it possible to change the firmware to a C432 in order to debrand it?
If yes, how can I do it? I am totally new to Huawei.
Thanks a lot for your help
******************************
Solution summary
I successfully debranded my L09C150B182 to L09C432B182
I followed the instructions given in the video tutorials:
1.) [HOW-TO] Root Huawei Phone with SRKTool Huawei
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMNVruAU6do
2.) [GUIDE] How to debrand Huawei Phone by SRK Tool Huawei
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZVsIKtdgV4
I skipped the step change ro.build.display.id, as my phone automatically installed a C900 firmware after I changed the OEM info
3.) After installing C900 firmware, I used the dload method to upgrade to C432 firmware e.g. by using the following dload method

Any idea how to solve this Problem?
Don't worry, just flash a stock rom again using the dload method... this one for example.... https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/stock-rom-dload-file-p9-eva-l09-b136-t3382818
You will have to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and SuperSU again if you want root.
Hi colthekid,
thanks for your fast reply. I tried the dload method yesterday but it was not working. The Firmware from Flash Card in the phone was not loaded.
So I have to press both volume + and volume - and power to make that happen?
I just took a brand new Flash Card (without formatting the same in the phone) and copied over the dload Folder from the link above.
Maybe there is an issue because I am still having an open bootloader?
Thanks, morro

Yep, phone turned off, hold vol up & vol down then press power until boots into erecovery. Update should start automatically. Don't have phone connected to PC, although mains power is fine.
The dload folder (with update files inside) needs to be at the root of the SD card (not inside another folder) so a blank/formatted card is good. An unlocked bootloader is irrelevant, I've done this with both an unlocked and a locked bootloader and the update process locks it again anyway.
When you tried before did the update start in erecovery, but fail at a %, or did you not get into erecovery?

Hi. Yesterday when I tried the dload on SD Card it did not boot into erecovery at all. It went into a Screen where "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted .... Your device is booting now... " was shown. Here the System stuck until forever. But maybe I did not hold vol up & vol down and pressed power Long enough. At the moment I can not turn the phone of as it always boots again when I try to turn it off. Hopefully this is not a Problem.
Do I copy over the complete dload Folder or only the UPDATE.app file? As far as I remember there were two other subfolders in the dload Folder. Are These required as well?
I will try today evening after work and let you know if it is working. Thanks

The "device has been unlocked" screen is before booting into system (with 3 instructions) or a shorter one before either erecovery or TWRP (no messages). That's standard and nothing to worry about, it just shows your bootloader is unlocked.
Copy everything over and into the dload folder . So for the B136 stock rom, the dload folder should contain update.app and the hw and dt folders. Some updates may only have an update.app bit.
It's easier if the phone was off, but whatever state the phone is in, press and hold both volume keys and power & keep them held until you enter erecovery. Think you can let go of them once the phone boots, but I've always kept them pressed untill the update starts.
Thank you very much for your help colthekid
I successfully updated to B136 and afterwards to B182
It worked out fine :good:
So c432 is the unbranded rom? Where are you from? What is the c150 like in comparison? I also have the c150 (Austria) and do ned find any branding (loading screen or preinstalled apps).
Did you already got an update to nougat?

Questions:
-How were you installing the firmware (which method)?
-What firmware were you putting in?
-What version is your phone?
-What android version did your phone had before bricking it?
I've been there with the soft brick. I got my phone back to life by downloading a ROM, putting it into the external SD Card, created a folder named 'dload' and adding the UPDATE.APP file there, then, press vol up + vol down + power and the restore started.
One thing that's worth to mention is that the phone may not boot even with this, but you just need to put the phone on erecovery ( turn it on with vol up + power ) and wipe cache + factory reset. This will bring it back to life!

Ok, first, don't worry, this is soft brick, which means the phone will recover, it's just a matter of flashing the right rom. Follow my steps above and make sure you turn on the phone holding the 3 buttons at the same time, once the logo appears release the power button and keep both volume keys for a few seconds and release them. That's forced update mode.
The rom is about 2.8 gigabytes and must be in dload folder on the root of your external SD.

PD: Don't pay for software to get the phone back! You can do it yourself!

The device loses a Recovery Stock file that must be installed
1. Download the file Recovery Open the zip file and place the file in the Minimal ADB and Fastboot program
2. Open Minimal ADB and Fastboot
3. Connect your phone to the computer
4. Type this command (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
5. After installing the Recovery Stock file in your mobile phone, disconnect the cable and continue pressing the stop button until it restarts and press the stop button with the volume up button until you see Recovery and load the original ROM in the SD card

Can't enter recovery mode after installing TWRP

Hello everyone,
I bought a few days ago the Honor 5C and decided to root it. So I installed the TWRP (Nemo) using "fastboot", downloaded a ZIP of SuperSU and placed at the root of the internal storage. But when I try to enter recovery mode by using "adb reboot recovery" or by pressing the Volume Up + Power buttons, the phone vibrates, displays nothing for 2-3 seconds (not even a black screen, the screen is completely off). After that the "Honor" logo is dispayed for less than a second then the screen "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted [...] Your device is booting now..." with no option at all.
The problem is that this screen stays forever and never displays the recovery mode screen. If I entered this mode using the physical buttons, I can just press "Power" for a few seconds and then it reboots the phone normally. But if I used "adb", each reboot makes the phone entering again the same recovery mode that doesn't work, so I use the Volume Up + Power key while the phone is connected via USB to my laptop to enter e-recovery mode, then reboot normally.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem ? I really want to root my phone but I don't know what to do for now.
Thanks by advance for your answers !

Are you on EMUI 5 (Android Nougat) ? If so, official TWRP is not compatible with version > EMUI 4.x for now.
I'm using EMUI 5.0 / Android 7.0.
So now I've installed an incompatible TWRP can I just downgrade to EMUI 4.0 / Android 5.0 then flash it again and root my phone or should I reflash the original recovery before doing that ? I've read somewhere that updating a rooted phone could brick it so even if mine has just a TWRP and want to downgrade instead of upgrading I prefer to be sure.
Thanks by advance !

you need install original recovery and extract update.app from B100 firmware, then you place it to "dload" folder in your sd card and flash using 3 buttons. you cant full brick by messing with root. only soft brick which is fixable.
Ok I'll try it. I will post again if something comes wrong.
Thanks a lot for your help
I forgot to ask about one thing : I'm owning a phone with NEM-L51 model and I don't know if I can use NEM-L22 firmware ? If I can't, where can I find the right files to downgrade this specific model ? All the firmware files I see on the web are for the NEM-L22...
EDIT : I've found the B102 firmware for NEM-L51 model (Europe + UK) can I take it for the downgrade or is the B100 specific version needed ?

Thanks for your help but this doesn't work. When I do what you say it goes again and again to the same warning screen which never disappears. This is really strange, when I see videos I find on YouTube all Honor 5C owners that just do what you say enter in recovery mode, but it's not my case... I really wonder why.
I don't know if that can help you to understand, but I'm using a french Honor 5C phone, with EMUI 5.0 / Android Nougat like I said previously, model is NEM-L51 and I did the Android Nougat update several days ago using the Honor's official update application, which is natively installed on the phone.
About the firmwares, I've tried the B102 version for the specific model I own but each time (I downloaded the update ZIP several times, the first one with two folders named '1-main' and '2-vendor', the second with just the 'dload' files) the update stops at 5 purcents and says "Software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package."
What can I do to solve this problem ?

When you do Volume Up + Power it attemps to enter recovery mode, not recovery (that's what I read), excepted if a USB cable is plugged in (which is not my case). And that still doesn't work.
However, I'm able to enter erecovery mode by turning on the phone with only the Power button, then holding "Volume Up" as written on the screen (there are 3 boot options that shows up, but only when I boot normally) and I enter erecovery mode. But I can't do anything interesting in this mode, just download the latest firmware (which fails at each attempt, even when I'm connected to a working WiFi point), shutdown or reboot the phone normally.
Shoud I show you a video of when I boot my phone in normal mode / recovery mode / erecovery mode ?

The problem is that I can't enter recovery mode, each time I try to install an OTA or full update package from the /dload folder on the SD card it fails, so I can't downgrade at all. Do you know a link that sure points to the good update package version for the Honor 5C on EMUI 5.0 in order to downgrade to Marshmallow ? I've found several links during my searches but I don't know if the installation fails because of a phone's bug or if it fails because of an invalid version.
EDIT : I forgot to precise the long model name of my phone : NEM-L51C432B350. On Firmware Finder Rewrite it shows that there are only two update packages for it, published on 20.04.2017... So I wonder if I need to download the three files shown in the filelist of the big update (1.68 Gb) and install them on the device ?

Stock recovery wont have an option . There is no graphical UI for installation.
Downgrade or update is just a manual procedure.
In order to roll back , u need to install a roll back package and then the origional MM package . Using the three button combination

Ok so in the guide I found on the same page I linked in my previous post (the guide is hopefully written in english) it says that the phone must haven't been rooted or even unlocked, so I prefered to relock the bootloader (and completely reset my phone, for the third time at least in two days).
But then I realized I would need to have an unlocked bootloader for the flash so I unlocked it again, but now the device stucks on "Your device is booting now..." with no option at all whatever I do, whatever the buttons I push... I'll really start to think I'm simply idiot
I'm searching on how to solve this new problem and unbrick the phone... 'cause I can't even shutdown it, the "Volume Up + Power" combination while USB plugged in or anything else doesn't work this time.
EDIT : Okay so my phone seems to really be hard-bricked. My phone just stays at the screen "Your device is booting now..." with no option at all, I can't shutdown it, I can't enter recovery or erecovery mode. Does anyone know what to do or is my phone definitively bricked ?

But how can I unbrick the phone ? I can't enter in any mode, I can't connect it to PC, I can't shutdown the phone, I can't use ADB or FastBoot on it, I can't reflash the bootloader or install a TWRP, downgrade or boot normally, I can't do anything !
So how could I unbrick it ? For now it's just still displaying "Your device is booting now..."
If you know how to do, please tell me so I can unbrick my phone. Sorry for asking you so many things I don't understand myself why there are so many problems...

Hello everybody, I have a problem, and I wanted to "relock" my mobile phone boot loader after that the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 wanted to do a factory reset, but it stops at 99%.
I need urgent help.

Try connecting phone to pc with usb(doesn't matter does pc recognize it) and then try to boot to boot loader.
Or if 2017 model has dload force update method you can try that, just make sure you have lots of battery of it refuses to start at all.

Try force update if your device has that possibility(Vol+ and Vol-). How long did you waited at 99%, I think I have always got some error message in similar situation when I've waited like 10mins.

Bootloader i think is press vol -, don't release and plug USB
to flash rom you need default recovery in phone.
To flash copy update.zip to sd card, whit phone off press vol -, vol+ and power.
Or create a dload folder in sd card and copy to inside the update.app, can extract from update.zip, then whit phone off press vol -, vol+ and power.
