flash xiaomi.eu rom - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hi there! Is it possible to flash xiaomi.eu rom over resurection remix rom (or any LOS based rom) with twrp or do i have to fastboot flash china rom first and modified boot.img as written on xiaomi.eu forum ?

You don't need to do anything. Just do a clean flash.

Ok so a simple factory reset and flash latest xiaomi.eu would work? Why they ask to flash boot.img on eu forums?

They said you don't need to flash boot.img anymore. I even wipe /system manually.

yes you can. just don't wipe system. wipe only Data, Dalvik cache & cache before flashing eu rom.

And if you wipe system , your phone will be on bootloop.

Thx to all, did a factory reset and install xiaomi.eu without issue

You can flash it using TWRP but first do all wipes and FORMAT data (this will delete internal storage too, but you have to do it in order to avoid any issue), also restore back DATA and CACHE to EXT4 if you have switched them to F2FS

Both are true.

First time LOS install

Is this the correct sequence to flash a custom stable ROM for the FIRST time?
1. Unlock bootloader. Done.
2. Flash latest TWRP (or ZCX TWRP) or step 3 first?
3. Flash minimal required firmware from
(i) miui[dot]com/download-299.html (necessarily 8.1.4 or latest 8.1.25 ?)
OR
(ii) miui[dot]com/a-234.html (according to LOS 14.1 post by bgcngm ) ?
4. Flash minimal required firmware using Miflash tool ... clean all OR save user data OR clean all and lock?
5. Flash LOS and then Gapps using TWRP.
6. Wipe internal storage? So I lose everything?
7. Can I use MIUI's inbuilt tool for backup of my MIUI 9?
8. How do you root? Magisk or LineageOS su addon? Do both survive OTA updates?
Unlock
Twrp latest
If u are on latest no need to flash again
Min 8.14 or above firmware
Then put los15.1&gapps8.1
Wipe all including internal memory
Then install rom +gappas
Just boot up thats all
If u don't wipe internal phone goes to encrypted stage
Thats all done

Use magisk zip and just flash the zip for rooting
Thanks a lot! Although , still, I would want someone to be more specific...

Everything is given there, just read and follow install instructions:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/9-4-18.50189/
Get TWRP 1102 or 1217 to flash the EU rom and install 1227 version once new rom is flashed but before reboot system.
That means when eu rom installation will finish, then I should reboot to fastboot instead of reboot to system? And then again flash twrp 1227?

Simply said:
For WEEKLY EU DEV rom installed with1102/1217 twrp:
if you reboot to system the rom will install well but you loose TWRP 1102/1217. AND you will not be able to reflash the new one because partition are modified with this new rom version ''(from 2018/12/27).
That' why you must install 1227 before rebooting in the rom system.
Either with fastboot or in recovery you are still in... install 1227 image.
take a coffee!
EDIT: THIS IS ONLY IF YOU INSTALL WEEKLY EU DEV ROM!
for stable you MUST keep 1102 and you can reboot dry.

One is suggesting me to flash twrp 1227 and then flash eu 8.7.12. then update to latest eu rom. Is it ok? Will it make any problem flashing twrp 1227 in my latest Chinese stable?

-1227 TWRP will NEVER boot on ANY available STABLE ROM (CHINA or EU). Try it, no risk.

I have no experience about this flashing rom. I want to follow your procedure. But one confusion. When eu rom will successfully installed, then should I go to "reboot>reboot to bootloader" in twrp? And then flash twrp 1227 with the same process of installing twrp 1102/1217?

you stay in TWRP and install "IMAGE" of 1227.
- INSTALL/ install image/find 1227.img file/select it and select RECOVERY position in order to place it well.
But if you don't do that and reboot the rom, no problem only TWRP will be missing.

OK!
TWRP 1102
FORMAT DATA /yes in WIPE
LOAD EU WEEKLY DEV ROM FLASH ZIP into phone memory
FLASH latest EU weekly DEV
INSTALL 1227 TWRP before reboot the rom. (for future install)
EDIT:
Format data coming from Official rom is mandatory because this rom is encrypted and it cannot be erased during flashing operation.
Save your data before doing format data!

This was not my question. Please clear my confusion. Can I flash twrp 1227 with twrp recovery 1102? Or I should again flash 1227 with pc? If i should use pc, can I go to bootloader page to flash 1227? Or can I flash 1227 staying twrp recovery without rebooting bootloader?
EDIT: Oh sorry. I have understood. Thanks for your help.
I am getting tired of trying EU rom now. Everytime I tried, like whatever they said here and eu forum.. I always end up in stuck to fastboot mode.. Never boot the eu rom.
first flash 9.5.11 fastboot rom, then flast twrp v1102,
in twrp formate data and wiper systems and others,
flash eu rom from otg.
thats all.

Give this method a try. I followed these steps with the help of @lolo9393
Following are the procedures that i followed to boot up Miui Eu
- Flash official 8.12.13 (Dev Fastboot Rom) through MiFlash.
- Flash TWRP 1102
- Clean Data
- Push/ Copy and Flash 8.12.20( EU Rom), it booted up finally without redirecting to Fastboot.
- Update 8.12.20 to latest available from system updater.
- Now there won't be any recovery or we aren't able to enter into available recovery even though the system boots.
- Flash TWRP 1227.
need help, I tried to flash ROM eu 9.5.23 using 9.2.16 dev ROM as the base. twrp used 1227 and after rebooting enter fastboot mode.
twrp 1102 and 1217 do not want to enter recovery only the MI display

Flash OREO fastboot official rom 9.5.10 or 11 with MIFLASH in order to reset the partition. Install 1217 TWRP and FORMAT DATA/yes (in TWRP wipe section) Do it it twice.
Reboot recovery and load EU rom from you computer with explorer.
Install EU rom and 1227 TWRP BEFORE rebooting the rom.
Welcome to the club!

There is no Best Rom for any device, it depends on the user.
GSI is Generic System Image. These are also known as Treble Roms. You may say that these are universal roms. For more info, Google it?
Installation :
Requirements
1) Unlocked Bootloader
2) must have stock recovery
Flash the rom via Fastboot ( important), once done, reboot to stock Erecovery and factory reset ( don't ever do it via TWRP)
Now restart the mobile and let it boot.
Now it should boot normally.
Now Flash TWRP to have Gapps, use Nano Open Gapps because they work well.
Steps that I took : after flashing Gapps, I flashed stock recovery and factory reset the device, you may ask why?
Because if I wipe cache via TWRP on my mobile, it causes bootloop ( I don't know why)
---------- Post added at 11:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:33 AM ----------
Before proceeding, you must have huru Updator and your Stock rom. Just in case

BTW I'm using Havoc OS 2.9

TWRP bootloop after MIUI rom update, help me please !

Hi guys,
I followed all the tuto to get a wonderful Mi 9T Pro Global rooted, but for fews updates, on MIUI 11, I saw intempestives reboots, with an error message about "location" problem...
I decided to downgrade to MIUI 10 withit I haven't these issues, from miui.eu, but after the update by TWRP, logo Mi but no boot, just return to TWRP !
I tried everything to reflash other, but same issue !
What can I do, if it's possible without erase any data please ...
maybe you have dm verity and/or force encrypt disabled (both or only one of them) before upgrade, if it's your case try to flash this from TWRP: https://zackptg5.com/downloads/Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_12.27.2019.zip
today updated to 10.0.4.0 and have the same problem as you. in my case have dm verity and force encrypt disabled (both) before the upgrade. if you only have one of them disabled, you have to rename the zip file with the DISABLED option you have.
---------- Post added at 07:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:26 PM ----------
before flashing anything, always have a twrp backup. do it before flashing anything. so if you plan to flash the file i've been talking before, backup everything first.
Thanks for the tip, but it doesn't work.
I install your zip successfully, then I flash a firmware, no bootloop on recovery but stay at Mi logo until I manually switch off.
Do you format (not wipe) data partition before reflashing roms?
I haven't flashed new rom in a while and I had your problem recently. Turned out I forgot to format data.
No wipe before flash.
But never necessary before when I updated the firmware all the weeks...
Just to say you I solved the problem by flash the complete tgz firmware, but all my data has been erased.
Will format data before installing (updating from miui 12 weekly) reset the phone?
I cannot update via the updater app, it just says that all mirrors are busy. So I have just downloaded a stable MIUI 12 now and put the install zip on my phone. Should I flash this from the update app (Choose package) or directly from TWRP (with a format data before?).
Last time I did an update from the update app, my phone was stuck in a bootlopp and I really dont want to reset the phone again having to install every app and stuff again,
