This method will install the original software on your X8!
If you have Sony PC Companion 2.1 on your PC, then uninstall it, and download and install Sony PC Companion 2.1, again! If not, then PC Companion might not recognize your phone. After installing do the following:
- Turn off the phone, and unplug it from the PC
- Turn on Sony PC Companion on your PC
- In PC Companion, enter the Support Zone tab
- Go to Update Phone Software
A window will pop out, saying that it cannot find your phone
- Click on Fix Phone
- Click on Continue
A window will pop out, saying that you will lose all your data
- TICK the BOX
- Click on continue
An update process will began.
Wait for it to show a window with all the SONY mobile phones
- Find your phone (X8)
- Click on the phone.
Now all you have to do is follow the on-screen instructions. It will tell you to hold the back button and plug your turned-off X8 to the PC, then it will erase everything, and download the original 2.1 ROM to your X8.

Hey there, my phone isn't bricked...but I think I have too much data (possibly conflicting roms installed at the same time??) and I wish to reset my phone to its original status... I wish to re-install a ROM on it, but I want to start fresh again by removing the rooting programs or what have you..
Would following these steps put it all back to its original setting, also meaning that I could completely wipe the SD clean?
If so, would this mean I would have to re-root my X8? Not that it would be a problem but I would just like to know if it would be needed!
Thanks!

if you want to restore the stock rom (original androdi on xperia x8) with pc Comapnion than you dont need to root it again. But if you want to change it to custom rom and you have done full wipe i think you should root it again (rooting is done so taht you can change the busybox version of the phone and upload xrecovery if you have those you don't need to root)

Why don't you download the store Rom annd use Flashtool to flash it? Then you may be able to upgrade to latest revision with PCC.

Yeah, I lost you somewhere... If after taking out the battery, you CAN NOT enter xrecovery or CWM, then, you either can try THIS THREAD <--- go on, click on it!, or, you have to do what I had to do a couple of times, which is to restore your X8 to its original state, and to do that with Sony PC Companion, you first have to UNINSTALL your current PC Companion!!! THEN, restart your PC, and install a clean version of Sony PC Companion 2.1!
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION of PC Companion, YOU STILL HAVE TO UNINSTALL IT, AND INSTALL IT AGAIN!!! IF YOU DON'T, THERE's a 99% CHANCE THAT PC COMPANION WILL NOT RECOGNIZE YOUR PHONE!!! ...I don't know why, but it's probably some marketing trick, since I once used this method 3 times in a row, then the fourth time PC Companion didn't recognize my X8. This happened on both, the old PC Companion, and the current Sony version 2.1. I tested them both on purpose, to eliminate the possibility that I damaged my X8's hardware somehow, during a high speed impact collision with the bedroom wall...
Once you reinstall Sony PC Companion 2.1, go back to my first post to your problem, and follow it step-by-step.
AND yes, if you want to install custom ROM's again, then you will have to ROOT your phone again, and UNLOCK the BOOTLOADER, etc...
BUT, if it's a soft-brick, then you might be able to redeem yourself
ViVA FIDELINO!
how about kernel?

Try downloading the stock rom and a diff version of flashtool. I can't remembet which version is most recommended (try searchibg xda - i read it here). install drivers in flashtool's driver folder (gordon's gate) then try again. Almost the same thing happened to me. PCC won't recognize my phone so I couldn't install the drivers.

The best way, if u still can't get on your phone , is take it to the SE Customer care. And don't tell a word about rooting or anything. Just ask them to repair the phone, saying that one morning, the SE logo kept on popping up.

Hello everyone!
My Xperia T LT30P is stuck at "device encrytion failed please reset" everytime I turn it on. The "Reset Device" button on this screen doesn't do anything when tapped.
I tried to flash 7.0.A-Global firmware via Flashtool but it always gets stuck here at 0%:

Is there anything else I should try?
Thanks a lot for reading.
flash a latest version of JB,

did you try Phone Repair option in PC Companion?
Thanks for your replies.
I have also tried LT30p_9.1.A.1.140_CE_Skyfall.ftf but same result. I have also tried different versions of flashtool.
PC Companion can't detect my phone. I have tried 2 different computers and each one is stuck on install MTP drivers. I guess unless the drivers are installed, PC companion won't detect it.
I have also tried connecting the phone in flash mode but PC companion asks to restart the phone in normal mode.
run the driver.exe file in the flashtool installation folder.
choose fastboot, flashmode and tx drivers
try again with pccompanion

PC companion still can't detect the phone. I have installed/re-installed all the drivers you mentioned.
As Flashtool isn't able to flash the .ftf firmware to the phone, is there any other firmware available that can be flashed via fastboot?
No.
Try downloading Sony's EMMA program and repairing with that

Thanks for your suggestion.
Seems like EMMA only works with unlocked bootloaders. And my Xperia T can't be unlocked as USB debugging is off and there is no way I can turn it back on.
Further help needed, please.
I think my Z1 is semibricked. I can enter flashmode and stuff and it vibrates. It sometimes boots up and says Update failed connect to computer and try again. (This was after it failed with Sony Companion)
Now im trying to flash with flashtool in flashmode. It writes alot of files but it always stops at system.sin
What should i do?
I have tried with two different firmwares.
( The phone is a C6903 Unbranded)
I now flashed and excluded system.sin
It went thru. But now its stuck on Sony Boot Logo.
Any idea what the next step should be?
I reinstalled Sony Companion and reinstalled Flashtool Drivers, but the problem still exists. What am i doing wrong?
Hi all,
So I got this Sony Xperia SP C5303 from a friend of mine which is stuck on a boot loop (SONY logo => XPERIA logo => Orange logo, then screen dims and reboot )
I tried to flash it with FlashTool but nothing, I downloaded the ftf for it and I have installed all the drivers from the flashtool driver folder but nothing, I always get an error on Flasgtool indicating that I must install the drivers
As I said, the phone cannot be booted and I have never connected it to my computer so there were no previous drivers, so what should I do ? (I have Win 7 btw)

Don't know what you mean by all but the three necessary ones are fast boot, flash mode & viskan board drivers. Use the latest version of Flashtool, install those drivers, prepare the firmware and connect the phone pressing the volume down button.

I do have FlashTool the latest version (0.9.18.6) and what I meant by "all" is that when I run the "FlashTool drivers" that comes with the software, it gives me a checklist of the available drivers, I ticked every single one of those drivers, and they're all installed, but still, FlashTool shows an error that the driver must be installed !

You don't need to install all of them, just the three I mentioned. Could possibly be causing detection issues.
Go download USBDeview and see what you got installed. I'd advise you to remove everything Android and Xperia related and start from scratch to avoid conflicts. If you have installed things properly, you phone should show up as something like this in USBDeview -
Normal mode
Xperia SP - USB Composite Device
Fastboot mode
S1Boot - Fastboot Android ADB Interface or ADB Bootloader Interface or something similar.
Edit : Just as I finished posting, my SP wasn't getting detected in adb. Why? Because I had connected my brother's Xperia ZR and for some reason my phone doesn't like other phones being connection on my machine It was showing up as Linux storage unit or something. Reinstalled drivers via FlashTool and everything's good again. Drivers are finicky things man.

LOL, well I've got a little update
I flashed the phone first with Sony PC Companion, after it finished, I plugged out the phone and started it, it took some while to boot, the screen showed up but it wasn't responsive, after a couple of seconds, it dimmed and it rebooted and now it's back to the same old issue (SONY > XPERIA > Orange > Reboot).
Right afterwards, I flashed it using FlashTool (This time it worked perfectly, which is weird) but still nothing, after finishing the flash and plugging out the phone, it's stuck on the SONY, XPERIA and the colorful waves bootanimation ....
I've no idea what is wrong with this thing now

Well the fact that it's getting there means there isn't anything significantly wrong with it.
Have you tried rebooting it using the off button at the back? Sometimes it does that the first time booting into the ROM. Just press and hold the button for a few seconds with a pen or a toothpick to reboot the device.
You could also boot back into recovery and do a factory reset just to see if it helps the cause.
You can also try different firmware versions. Maybe 4.1.2 instead of 4.3.
BTW is the boot loader unlocked on the phone?

I did try the tiny yellow OFF button in the back several times through the flashing process and whatnot, but nothing .
I tried getting into recovery mode but it just won't it just keeps on doing the same bootloop as before
I dunno if trying a different firmware would help, I highly doubt it but I will try it as I got nothing to lose
I've no idea what that boot loader is but I DID try to unlock it using FlashTool's BLU and I got this in the log "07/029/2015 21:29:05 - INFO - Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked"

You need to press either the volume up or down button a few times when you're booting up to get to the recovery. If you have done it right then after the Sony splash screen you should go into the recovery.
Boot loaders need to be unlocked to be able to flash custom recoveries & ROMs but forget about unlocking the boot loader for now since you do not know what it is and without your phone working there's no way of knowing for sure of it can be done or not.
Like I said try doing a factory reset in the recovery or a different firmware to see if it helps.

Well, I just did some research and I found out that Sony phones do not have a stock recovery mode . . . So there's no recovery mode for me (I did try but nothing)
I'm going to try to unlock the boot loader using SDK and if nothing happens, I'll try to flash it with a different firmware

Oh damn I forgot you had flashed stock firmware...yeah Sony phones ship w/o a recovery. Even if it had one, it wouldn't be much use other than wiping cache & dalvik, factory reset and installing official signed updates. A big reason why people unlock their boot loaders to install a custom recovery.
Before you proceed try to understand as much as you can about what you are doing. Don't go in half cocked and create more problems for yourself. The main problem you face is that you don't have a working system so
a) you don't know whether you bootloader can be unlocked to begin with and
b) even if it can be, you can't take a TA backup to save your warranty cause your phone's not working. If you don't take the backup before the first time you unlock, your warranty's pretty much gone forever.
If you still wanna proceed, check out the link below. Another poster wanted to unlock recently so the thread below contains boot loader unlocking instructions. There are four I have listed. Read carefully before you proceed.

I flashed my Xperia SP with from Jellybeam to CM13 rom. I didn't create any backup, wiped clean everything including cache using twrp recovery. While the setup installed CM13 without any error but I downloaded the wrong gapps and the setup didn't accept those. So I chose to reboot the cell and since then it just stopped responding. Although it is showing the green led while plugged in via USB, it won't start in neither fastboot nor recovery mode.
I'm stuck here and have no idea what to do.
I tried installing PC companion, flashtools, SP flashtools, emma, everything. None of these detect my cell. I'm using Windows 10 (64 bit) and am at a dead end.
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE:
I managed to flash it with errors and now it's stuck in a SONY logo bootloop. Its starts, shows SONY logo for a while and then turns off again. Again it's not getting recognised by any flash tool, sony companion etc.
Help please.

Hey!
Sad to hear, but maybe (I hope) this method will help you. Basically what you will get is an original Xperia SP with 4.1 android as it came from the factory.
You will need:
1. Sony Mobile Flasher by Androxyde" version 0.9.18.6. Don't know if newer version came or better. You can find it here in forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489955
2. The basic ROM "12.0.A.2.254".
The method that helped me:
SP turned off. Cable not connected.
Start Sony Mobile Flasher (Flashtool) , give administrator rights.
Top left cornet click on the bolt and choose flashmode, then in firmware selector you can find and select the downloaded ROMs and kernels. Choose the official 4.1 (12.0.A.2.254). Click falsh so it starts to proceed.
Then a windows appears called "wait for flashmode".
Now. Grab your turned off SP press volume down and connect the usb to pc. Keep holding volume down button till flashtool starts to upload the system. (Hopefully it will be fast enough, and phone will not turn on. For me it was)
After flashtool is finished you will see:
09:50:53 - INFO - Flashing finished.
09:50:53 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone
09:50:53 - INFO - For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings
09:50:54 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
Unplug and start the SP
If everything went as planned you have your phone back with stock 4.1 and 12.0.A.2.254 kernel.
you can find the firmwares here: https://mega.nz/#F!1xME0bZB!lGvex2Gc3cZFr3NoEFFWww!hgN3GBAC

Click to collapse
Thanks a lot brother. At first it didn't work when I flashed it with the latest version of Flasher. Then I installed the exact version you mentioned (0.9.18.6) and phone didn't boot during the flashing and now it's back to normal with the default 4.1 stock.
Thanks a bunch, you're a life saver for me. :highfive:
