Moto G 2014 XT1068 Titan for spare parts - anyone? - G 2014 Accessories

Anyone needs a used Moto for spare parts, e.g. battery, camera, motherboard?
Screen itself is working perfectly, but it got some tiny scratches despite having gorilla glas, however. Maybe from some keys in my pocket while riding on mountainbike.

Why spare parts? Anything specific broken?

I need only the panel (display and touch)

Hello!
I need the inner back cover (not the external back cover) and the cover screws.

Nothing is broken, but the smartphone had been in daily usage since 2014, so the screen has tiny little scratches and do not expect the battery to be the best.
I can not sell in here in Germany, because nobody wants it with the scratches - so i decided XDA would be best

I want to buy the Xperia SP but I heard it has Annoying Back Cover FLEX

I had a Moto Atrix 2 some years ago and god it was horrid. The back cover would star to flex after you take it out and put it back in about twice.
My max budget is $350 USD
I am eyeing down the LG 4X HD for $315 on Amazon
I am scared to buy some of these phones that has impossible to remove battery. I plan to keep a phone for a long time possibly 5 years because I won't be doing anything demanding on it. Just need it for Netflix and web browsing etc maybe some casual games and watts app
I was really liking the Xperia SP but heard the camera sucks and the screen is really bad.
And then heard it has this stupid back cover flex and I suffer from OCD so its gonna annoy the hell out of me if it flexes.
Its a shame I really liked the look of the Xperia SP
I have the SP and love it.
There is no flex in the back cover of the phone. I also like the screen but the viewing angles are not so good and black is dark grey (i don't care about these "problems") . The camera is not great but it's not bad, just fine.
My back cover doesn't flex at all, the phonearena(?) review that said it flexed had a slightly defective back cover or it wasn't placed correctly or it was just that the pre-release device had that flex and it no longer does
The screen is fine when looking dead-on but it does indeed have bad viewing angles but that doesn't bother me, wouldn't call it "really bad"
The camera has good 1080p video, the pictures lack fine detail indeed but that is most likely getting patched as it did on the Xperia Z (and ZR?)
definitely no flex issues on the back cover on several units I've checked.
However, there's a very little imperfect on the back cover where there will be a tiny bulge of the cover
where it should line nicely to the body. Especially at the top part.
Finishing could be finer.
Hi there yes its sites like Phone Arena and Cnet who claims the back cover flexes and becomes annoying.I am glad to know this won't be a problem.
Will this work on my country?
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Xperia-U...TF8&qid=1375765979&sr=1-11&keywords=xperia+sp
C5302 Xperia SP
Where I live in Trinidad and Tobago we use 3G HSPA+ 1900 band I understand all AT&T phones will work on my country meaning they use the same 3G band.
I am buying this Xperia SP because I can get it to buy from Amazon.com
I think the HTC One X would be the best buy since it costs same price but its impossible to find a new one since all of them on the market now will be refurbished. Most of those Amazon merchants are scammers also.
BTW how powerful is the WIFI antenna in the SP? can it compare to a laptop?
I heard TFT is old tech and no one uses it anymore and that SONY should have gone AMOLED or IPS
Can anyone confirm how bad TFT technology is?
I think the SP is abetter buy because the back cover is easy to remove so I need not worry about battery cause it seems like removing the battery would not be a huge problem after 3 years it should be easy if you remove the screws that holds it.
then again I heard batteries in these sony devices last up to 5 years and by then the phone would be no good.
Finally should I buy red or black?

[Q] Hardware: Replace cracked screen glass only

Hi,
the screen on my Moto G 2014 is cracked and I want to replace it. Since the phone still works fine I want to replace the glass only. Is this doable? I have not found any tutorials or information about this, and I hear it is difficult to do since the Moto G does not have an AMOLED screen so the backlight will be problematic.
I realize xda-dev is mostly focussed on software but maybe someone can help me or point me to a place where this question would be on-topic.
Cheers,
Luke
It's very difficult, need to heat the glass and a very thin and strong wire to separete LCD/digitizer from glass.
Then you need UV glue to reassembly new glass and LCD/digitizer.
If you are going to do it by yourself my recommendations buy a LCD/digitizer/glass assembly.
If you want to take the risk of breaking LCD/digitizer then watch all YouTube and read all the guide's you could read
Hi,
thanks for the reply! I already bought a new glass, if I break the LCD and digitizer I can still buy a whole new assembly (not really cost-effective though, I bought the phone itself on sale for 140 euros...).
There are no tutorials for the Moto G. Maybe you could skim this video (for Moto X) and tell me if following this procedure should work for me?

It's the same procedure, it should be the same just be carefull to slide the wire just under the screen, digitizer is very thin if you slide the wire under the digitizer it will break, an be patience if you think its hard to disassembly apply more heat.
Always get back to the thread with result I'll be happy to hear it worked.
Very late reply here, sorry about that...
I shattered the LCD while trying to pull it out and ended up replacing the whole digitizer/screen/backlight unit.
Judging from my experience with this, I think a glass-only repair is viable, but it has to be done very carefully to not put any bending force on the LCD. The double-sided tape holding the display unit to the frame are extremely strong. It should only be attempted if you have professional tools (such as a *good* hot air rework tool) and know what you're doing.

Broken glass! How to replace it?

I cracked the glass on my Moto X 2014... I don't want to replace the whole screen, it's expensive. Can I buy a fitting glass and replace just that? If so, where do I buy it, and are there any instructions (either written or video)?
Thanks a lot.
As far as I know, it is not possible to buy the glass on its own. The entire front panel - glass, digitizer and screen - all come as one unit. Even if you could buy it separately, I think you'd have a difficult time replacing it on an existing panel.

There are other videos but it's possible but not easy.
If you have cracked glass and touch working, I would recommend you to install a tempered glass screen protector for now (temporarily).
Save money and get a full display assembly (glass+digitizer+frame)
Because fixing the glass alone is the toughest job to do in a mobile!
Spares are around 100$ in ebay. :|
Thanks guys! I think I will proceed with the tampered glass protector then. Spares are really very expensive at the moment, jeez...
Hey Nijom
could you (or somebody else) link me where I could buy a tampered glass screen protector or other good quality screen protector for the Moto X? Unfortunately I cannot find any here in Italy, in physical shops, and in order to buy online, I'd like to get a good one.
Thank you

I contracted Motorola and they sent me a replacement device for $125. The best part: it was still on 5.0 and I was able to Mofo and sunshine to unlock. It's like I got a completely new phone for $125.

I got one from Alibabaexpress: (note, the link is in turkish)

I can verify that this is an OEM screen. I replaced it myself which wasn't too difficult except for the fact that the included T4 screwdriver broke after unscrewing six screws. Also I wish I had bought those pointed tweezers that are in all of the repair videos. I just had normal nail tweezers which made the repair more difficult but I still did it.

Moto X XT definations question

Hello!
Guys, I'm looking for some parts for my old Moto X 2013. It was flying 4 floors down and ended up on asphalt. Broken LCD, Battery door etc. So I started to search these parts but I'm little bit comfused about this definations: XT1053, XT1060... my model is 1053, is it ok to buy say fron facing camera part with XT1060 description? As I understand, it describs carrier provider like T-Mobile, Verizon etc....
I need your help
thanks
Yes, all parts inside family are replaceable. Antennas are a bit different (4 types), so use them, don't throw away.
I suggest you to buy LCD first ($25-40), then you'll see what is alive. Maybe to buy broken phone will be cheaper.

Well, yes I found LCD for $40 but without a frame. Frame is also damaged, so I have to go with freme which is for about $85. other parts ara around $10-15.
After a bit of investigation, I found that I need pretty much many of these parts. Front facing camera, upper housing, battery door. Everying is around $120.
But I'm not sure about motherboard. When I'm turning it on screen is totaly black and after about 20 seconds I hear repeating vibration sounds with approx. 20 seconds interval. I think it's rebooting itself. Just no response from LCD and shut down???

Ouch, where did you get such prices ) Whole screen assembly new cost around $40 (OLED+glass+frame+chassis). Back battery cover can be from junk quality of $3 to $16-18 for wooden one.

It's normal for dead screen phone, but of course no one can asure you that mobo didn't get damage. I'm personally 90% sure that mb is alive.
Consider also buying used Moto X. It does make sense.
Yes, I found LCD on amazon for $40. I just thought that the one with higher price would be better quality. I'm in love with moto )) I'll go with this one what do you think?

Yes, my sixth sense tells me that the motherboard is ok. It worths a try... and yes I also thought to buy used one but unfortunately can't find 32GB version. Mine was 32GB developer edition. There are only 16GB versions both 1st and 2nd generations. Spent 3 nights searching for it, they are just gone! Also, can't find battery cover for dev edition either. But it's ok, I can live with another cover.
thank you for your help by the way!!!

d802 glass panel replacement help

hi...
i have a d802 device with broken screen glass...
touch & gestures work... screen works... it only has a few cracks on it...
can i just replace the front glass (cheaper solution?) or must i replace the whole digitizer and front panel...
any suggestions on trusted online shops thazt sell genuine LG d802 parts?
thanks in advance
Digitizer and glass is a single unit, and is readily available on ebay (for cheap) so there is that. The thing is that it is next to impossible to separate the glass from the display itself, and without professional tools the result of the reassembly will be quite awful. The best would be to exchange the display assembly as a whole. This is actually done quite easily. Lots of guides are available online, which just makes the process even easier.
Also for where to get the displays. You can actually contact LG or one of their service providers to purchase the display assembly. This way you are completely sure to get a top quality product. This is a tad more expensive though.
Ebay is also another place to get displays, the quality varies greatly here (have gotten anything ranging from completely original to barely functioning knock off. )
Etradesupply is apparently the best place to get displays at the moment, as their S+ grade is comparable to the ones you get from LG

yes, i saw some youtube tutorials and removing glass from digitizer is a pain in the a$$, it can be done using hot air to melt the glue - but it's a time consuming process...
what interests me more is a whole screen section (glass+digitizer) and buying a proper genuine one for d802 (i think some people had issues with installing wrong panels from other variants to their d802 model)
thanks for your helpful answer :good:

The thing is that the D800 and Veriozon models (as I recall) uses different digitizers. The connectors for these should not physically be able to connect to the D802 motherboard.
But to be able to cure the optically clear glue used for displays you will not only need an uv light but also lots of practice. Air bubbles get caught under the glass way too easily for it to be viable.
One more thing to note. the LCD itself is too easy to bend. Any flex will destroy it. Should also note that I too have watched the video where someone separates the G2 glass from the LCD and have tried to follow along multiple times. Every time resulting the same way. LCD breakage. Both times the polarizing filter got unstuck. So if you really want to go this route, my advice would be to find a professional to do the job.
Recently I had same problem: cracked digitizer. After my experience - first trying to replace only digitizer - NOT GOOD. I had to buy a whole set - digitizer and LCD. Just pay attention to your type of LG G2 - you can find all the types. But I am not sure if you can find a genuine replacement. Usually they are substitute, with no logo. But everything works fine. Pay attention also to where and how the connectors are placed and the most important thing - after you took out the old LCD give it a good heat to the back of the battery pack because is stuck with strong biadhesives and try not to pry too much the battery.
I just replaced mine G2 D802 (from 2013) Lcd, you need to replace the whole thing (screen+lcd)I think, you can buy the Lcd from the Internet. I bought the lcd about $50 and got the shop to replace it for $6. Now my G2 is like new.
