What's the issue you're having?

i put a microsim to sim adapter and it broke the sim contacts on the tray!! Thats why I don't have warranty. Do anyone know what can I do???
How much does Samsung charge for this repair? I think it is better to have them repair it.
U should try diferent micro sim before u buy main board, u have two type of micro sim , sim with smaller chip and with bigger, the smaller one are causing problem, some of them are not working and some of them have problem with contact.

i have same problem before, i wen to network and said that ive lost my micro sim and i told them that i want normal sim replacement, because normal sim have big chip, after they send me new sim i have no problem...

and that someone screwed it up worse..... i should be able to fix it i pm'd you
..broke mine too!!
..did a similar thing to my Note.....the sim card caught one of the connectors in the sim tray and pulled it off!!!...found a cool video on how to dismantle it (1st video on on "dismantle galaxy note"search) on you tube....on closer inspection the connector had broken and pulled away from the circuit board too (not happy!!). Have hunted high and low to try and find someone who could supply a replacement main board....without any luck - if there's anyone out there that could point us in the write direction/add a link here....i'd love you forever!!
Really missing my Note right now!!!
New mobo for Galaxy Note? Check these guys out!!!
vicdroid84 you may be in luck......have found these guys, their based in Birmingham and are called Intercity business telecommunications (wont let me add the link here) tel:0121 643 7373.....have spoken to them, they can supply and fit a new mobo for about £130......takes about 48 hours upon them getting it to repair...am sending mine of today!!!!!........yipppeeeee!!
Samsung replaces the SIM tray. I read it is less than 50$ and sometime it is free.
Changing MOBO for a SIM tree is like changing a Car engine for a small nut
i recommend you take it to a company that's not Samsung to fix it, Samsung wont fix it if you don't have a warranty

Just pointing out to the OP that the above might be misinformation. The fix should be free if it's a warranty and $50 if it is a sim issue.
and as i said earlier.. if samsung wont fix it .. i can and will... and i can say so far i havent voided a warranty as in the warranty is still good after ive done the repair.. thats how clean..... so anyone with the problem just pm me... its legit too. got pretty good at board level repairs over the past 22 years working for some big name manufacturers... just trying to help...already helped a few on here....
Sim pins
I too broke off 1 of the 3 pins pulling a microsim out. I ordered and received the sim connector from parts4repair.com. But I think I have to solder off the current connector then solder on the replacement. Am I correct?

Hi all,
I stay in India and I am planning to order HTC One from United States as HTC One is not available in India Anymore. My only question is..
Has the issue with camera resolved on the latest build? I mean the purple tinge? If I am buying from HTC Website, it would be a new build right? So will it have camera problem or only initial builds had it?
If anyone can please suggest me on this, it would be helpful as I wont be getting warranty if I purchase from abroad.
It's fixed on the m8 apparently, but I'm not sure about the m7 but it depends on the one you get,, mine has it but it's hardly noticeable, I'm getting the m8 eventually so its not a bother to me.

Some will have the issue, some not. I was unlucky. I had the issue. The M8 wont have it, so ull be 100% safe. BTW why arent you buying the M8 ??
Also, the M7 is very much available in India. Which city are you from ??
And, if you're ordering from the HTC website, that will be the Developer Edition. And i have doubts whether they'll ship to India......

I am thinking to buy M7 as the price was reduced by almost $100 recently.
M7 is not available as single sim variant, only Dual Sim is available and its not developer friendly
As I mentioned in initial post, I will be getting it imported from United States (one of my friend will be getting it for me)
Not buying M8 coz i cant afford to spend another 10K
How can I check if the purple tint is present on phone or not? How to recreate the issue?

First, install all updates. TBH, the 4.3 update screwed my camera the most. The issue is also present on Kitkat. So, update to the latest version and see if the issue is present. Place the camera lens-down on any surface. If the image is exactly the colour of the surface, then you're safe. If there's a purple tinge, you have a problem. Otherwise, just wait for night-time and take a pic outside. U can easily identify. The only solution for this is to give it for repair to HTC. But, the US model is VERY different from the local model. So, HTC might not repair it even if you agree to pay for repair. Just FYI,

Thanks for the suggestion on testing the phone.. I will try on that..
BTW the ebay link that you provided.. is it safe to purchase from eBay? I hav not purchased anything online for that amount
Does custom firmware help? I mean to reduce the effect?
Also are there any settings or so if that effect can be reduced? Because spending a 30K for a phone which has this major problem is an issue

Hi all,
Sorry in advance if I created a new thread unnecessarily.
I was late with trying to buy that phone and now its basically sold out. Im looking for 4gb RAM 128gb ROM black version of Mi5 and the remaining phones I could find online were white. I tried to ask on the official MI forum but without success. Does anyone know whats going on with that phone? Did the production stop? I saw Mi6 came out but Im not interested. Or maybe im wrong? Does anyone know a place where I could buy it?
Black is rare, you almost cant find it on every online store, xiaomi not produce it again, except someone sold it. It means 2nd hands.

I just checked on the store i bought my mi5 a year ago and it was sold out, so I asked them if they will get it on stock again soon and they told me no, they won't get it anymore, so maybe xiaomi doesn't produce that device anymore... The shop I'm referring to is here
Hey,
since I crashed my phone physically last month, I've been trying to repair it, by installing a new middle frame and display. I failed horribly. The new display cracked as well and I don't know why that happened. This is when I decided to just get a new Mi 5. Since there are important files on the old phone that I didn't backup, I came up with the idea of placing the old mainboard with 64GB of storage inside the new phone which is the 32GB version of the Mi 5.
Did anyone ever do this? It should be possible right? Or is there something fundamentally different in the smaller version of the phone?
Thanks for your help
The problem is that the phone memory is soldered to the motherboard... It actually is on top of the processor itself.

Hugo Barra teardown video with explanations.
(he talks about the memory too)
Sorry about the files.
Should be possible
Have already done this with another phone, should also be possible on this one. If it doens't work for a reason, you can just place the 32GB motherboard back.
Thank you very much for your input guys.

I'm afraid that THIS is the problem. The memory (your old 32 GB) are soldered to the motherboard. If you replace the motherboard, those old 32 GB will be gone. You'll have 64 GB but none of your old data in them. Of course, replacing the 32 GB motherboard with another 32 GB one won't solve the problem...
Sorry for bringing bad news. Regards.

I think you got that wrong.
My old broken phone is the 64G version. I bought the 32G one because it was a lot cheaper. I am placing my old 64G motherboard in the 32G phone. So the old data is on the 64G memory.

Ok, now I understand (and I should have understood before if I had read the original message carefully ). For what i understand, if the motherboard works you should have no problem. Sorry for my mistake.
Regards.
Just wanted to reply to this thread since I did the swap yesterday. It all worked!
The 32GB version of the xiaomi mi5 apparently also had a reduced base clockspeed of only 1.8GHz. My 64G board is running at 2.1GHz.
Everything is working so far without any issues.
