My cousin thought it would be a good idea to wipe his phone via TWRP. However in doing so he wiped the entire phone ROM and all. I downloaded the latest stock rom, tried to flash via Oden and was unsuccessful. The only information I was getting is FAILED. I'm not sure if I need to download and install drivers on the phone first or if it's just bricked for good. Any help would be grateful. I'm familiar with Oden and rooting, however I've never come across something like this.
Thank you.

Question #1
If he has TWRP installed, does he have a backup you can restore? If not...
Why not flash a custom Rom from the Android Development forums for this specific device?
But back to your Odin error...
When you connect the device to your PC while Odin is open and your device is in "Download" mode, does Odin show the words "Added in the dialog window?
If Odin shows "Added then the drivers are installed into the PC and your PC and Odin are recognizing the device.
Make sure you click on "options" in Odin and un-select "Auto-Reboot".
What does Odin say at the bottom of the dialog window after you hit the Start button and the installation fails?
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
He has no backup saved to restore. I'm not sure why I've not tried a custom rom, I'll see if that does the trick. When I connect the phone to the computer it does say Added in the dialog box and I have Auto Reboot un-selected.

If Odin has failed with all things looking normal, are you sure you have the exact, matching stock firmware for the device?
Odin can do funky things sometimes. Also, what version of Odin are you using? I would suggest downloading a new version of Odin and verify you have downloaded the correct firmware for the device with the correct region.
Which device are we talking about again? It's a T-Mobile Galaxy S6, correct?

Seems the first stock rom I downloaded even though it matched MD5 was faulty. I downloaded the stock rom again from a different source and was able to install everything perfectly. Thanks for the help everyone. Now I'm off to find a way to unlock.

Similar to Masterslackers issue.
The phone was originally a stock Optus Éclair 2.1. About 6 months ago I decided to customize the i9000 with a custom Froyo 2.2.1 Rom (Doc's Rom Docs_XWJS3_Wipe-v9_1) from “The ROM Kitchen”. It worked really well and was much faster and responsive..
Yesterday, I decided to look at a move to Gingerbread and cook another ROM @ the ROM Kitchen, this time a Gingerbread 2.3.4 iteration.
The phone was rooted so I used Rom Manager to get into recovery mode where I could flash my new, Doc's JVR_No_Wipe-v8-00-08-22-10-09-4e6a8e4e86718.zip Rom.
All seemed to go well, but after the Flash, as the phone booted the first screen became filled with 100s of random coloured lines, then it transitioned to the normal Samsung start animation, but soundless.
After booting, I noticed that I no longer had a notification bar where battery, time, signal strength etc. was normally displayed atop the screen. I tried several different launchers to see if that was the issue, but to no avail. I tried to enable the notification bar using Go Launchers gesture setting (no go)
I tried rebooting the phone over and over, the notification bar would not return.
I was starting to lament my decision to flash when the following occurred.
I tried to re-enter recovery mode via ROM Manager to install a different ROM, but the phone bypassed it and then hung @ the Samsung I9000 logo screen. I then had to power the phone off before it would reboot into its UI. I could no longer reach recovery mode by any means.
Because I was getting nowhere and I had read that after flashing a new rom, root would often be lost, so I tried rerooting with "XXJVP-Complete-Rooting-Package" from
http://androidadvices.com/how-to-root-galaxy-s-on-android-2-3-4-xxjvp-firmware/ This also failed but it has also left me with a soft bricked phone.
The phone will not boot up or boot into recovery now, however It would still boot into (3 button) download mode.
I have tried various versions of Odin from v1.0 to v4.28 to ReFlash the phone back to life but with no success yet.
Using Odin, the phone hangs with no sign of progress and reports the following when left for 30minutes or so.
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
Anyone have any suggestions that might help to get the phone back.
Thanks, TeZ
So you didn't flash stock gingerbread before flashing custom rom? so you should first flash stock jvr and do hard reset after booting. Then you are safe to flash cwm capable kernel and custom rom.
For the odin problems, maybe you have kies running in background? Kill all kies processes and try again.
And I'd suggest reading all guides found in romkitchen thread..it saves lots of trouble. Hope that can fix your phone

Agree with above post, if you have Klies on your pc/laptop uninstall it, and re download the drivers, i have a good 2.3.4 tutorial and root 2.3.4 tutorial, both with Odin, let me know if interested. Also if you have heimdall installed then uninstall it also.
After you unistalled Kies (or at least stop it) and installed the drivers , pick a stock rom with bootloader from Ramad collection http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 .
I prefer Odin 1.82.
If you still unable to flash your phone, please follow steps from this guide to see how can debrick your phone.

Thanks for that, I did install kies after I bricked it, in the hope (probably missguided) that it would somehow help. Uninstalling

Thanks for your input, right now i need all the help I can get, hadn't heard of heimdall before. I guess its one more thing I could try if all else fails. But right now I'm going to try a few more conventional things with odin, like flash a stock rom etc.

Thanks for the info, running out of time today, will try for tomorrow
When moving from a froyo (2.2) rom to gingerbread, (2.3), you need the gingerbread bootloaders or you'll get all sorts of crap when turning on your phone (ie what you have).
Use odin to flash back to froyo, or flash a gingerbread firmware that comes with bootloaders. (I would recommend going back to froyo first to make sure everything is ok, since flashing bootloaders is a bit risky, as messing it up can permanently brick your phone)

Ok, here's where I'm at:
For the sake of simplicity I will detail what gave positive results rather than a tirade of what didn't.
Uninstalled Kies, rebooted
As instructed, went to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
downloaded: Odin v1.82
downloaded: Gingerbread 2.3.3 (Australia and New Zealand)
XWJVN/XXJVQ/XSAJV5/Sbl (CSC: XSA): Download (150 MB) (Build date: Sun Jul 10 11:30:54 KST 2011)
Loaded up Odin and followed instructions.
Flash went ahead as normal and I now have a working phone again, thanks to you DSGE, I'm a very happy man
So I now have Gingerbread 2.3.3 installed and running.
My only issue's now is, that.
1. Half my apps dont work now or force close even after a reinstall.
2. Some apps won't install at all IE; my fav launcher; Go Launcher
3. I no longer have root access so Rom Manager and Titanium backup wont work.
4. My Backup Pro, works after I rewrote the correct path to the External Sd, but do I want to do that just yet? and just how much data should I reinstate so I don't corrupt the new system?
What should I do now?
Install busybox?
do a hard reset?
Flash a different Rom that will work for me?
Thanks so very much for all the good advise.
Cheers
First root the phone, then either a different rom, or format system and re install 2.3.3 or which ever u just installed, i think ure apps are not working due to the phone needing a wipe/reset and cache cleared from clockwork recovery

Seems to relate to 2.1 to 2.2.1 didn't see any mention of 2.3.3. I'm afraid I'll stuff the phone if I use the old root files.
I tried upgrading my international N7000 to CM10.3 following the instructions in

but now the phone won't even boot into the recovery, all it shows is
Samsung
GALAXY Note
GT-N7000

When i tried flashin from my Mac iusing Heimdall,
the download finished on the mac, but on the N7000
it still showed the blue line etc. I waited a lng time and tried
rebooting, but got the above.
Re-flashing in Heimdall had no effect.
I then tried flashing
hardcore-speedmod-ics-recovery-n7000.tar
using Odin 3.185 from my VMwars Fusion XP install,
and that seemed to finish ok, but no luck either.
I looked for the latest CWM 6.0.4.3 recovery, but I cannot find any
odin-flashable format for it, and of course I cannot use the sdcard
as I cannot even boot into any recovery as is.
Can anyone suggest next steps?

1st things 1st. Why would u use heimdall or odin? And what is your current ROM before trying to flash CM 10.3, was it stock? You should have looked for CWM recovery or Philz safe kernels as base when doing ROM flashing ESPECIALLY custom roms. From what you said, then can you still boot into download mode? I have no knowledge of heimdall so just download Stock Firmware, flash it with odin and see if you can boot your N7000 first.
The worst case scenarios is you are experiencing emmc bug-brick. go to the thread and read carefully to deduce your type of 'brick' and find solutions there. Good Luck.
I was on a stock 4.0.4 (but rooted). I originally tried flashing the cwm from the sd card, but after starting to load it it also just hung,

I found a post on stockroms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997) but the links all point to hotfile.com. which my browser says it cannot find. is hotfile dead? Is there an alternative?

I'm sorry so did u succeed or did you not succeed in installing the custom rom? If your custom rom boots fine then all u need is to search for solving status 7 error thread. My advice to all noobs is to always try n avoid installimg anything except stock rom in odin. Always read and re read before flashing anything that's beyond your knowledge. Basic knowledge of flashing cusroms is :
1. ALWAYS make sure you're on SAFE and COMPATIBLE KERNEL. Most rom threads ALWAYS Include threads/links to a specific recovery/kernel to use. Read n RE READ that.
2. Wipe everything IN RECOVERY mode before flashing a rom.

Ok, I downloaded one of the stock kernels for my internatinal N7000, but flashing that with Odin 3.185 hangs about 3/4 through (has now been
sitting there for >60 mins).
Looks like I am screwed?
The file I found is KIES_HOME_N7000XXLT4_N7000OXALT4_1103517_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
I f I wanted to try flashing this with Heimdall, I'd need to know partition numbers I think
Where can I get those?
Or should I get another file?

Before that, do u have KIES installed? KIES is NOT compatible with odin and will cause potential trouble. So is some firewall and antivirus apps. You need to disable all of them before using odin. Please search the thread http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ for stock rom site.

Of course you fail... When using ODIN, U should have downloaded the .tar. if you downloaded a zip. then unzip it first to get the tar file, then you flash it with odin. All requests are included in the stock.tar And PLEASE DO NOT Play with PIT files if you don't know what you are doing.
So now what you need to do is. :
1. DISABLE KIES (Uninstall it better), Your firewall, antivirus.
2. Install CORRECT Samsung USB driver. (Search keyword "download samsung N7000 usb drivers")
3. Unzip your zip file and extract the tar.file.
4. Run ODIN as Administrator (Right click/run as)
5. Go to download mode. connect your device to Pc/laptop.
6. Wait until Odin detects your device, click AP/PDA and choose the tar file you extracted.
7. DO NOT tick partition.
8. Let it run
Of course I unzipped the zip to get a SINGLE .tar.md5, but flashing that fails on factoryfs about 3/4 through. consistently.

So i went to flash [ROM] Looper_XB but i made a mistake and flashed 5.0.2 when i needed to flash 5.1.1..Now i have made mistakes in past and would usually flash stock firmware in odin to my phone but this time it is not working. i downloaded stock firmware from here > LINKTOSTOCK. As a last resort you can always download either Samsung Kies or Samsung Smart Switch software and restore your device with the original firmware. You will need your model and serial number. You can get your s/n by booting into download mode and then pressing the home button.
Sometimes Kies will not work on the first couple of tries but it eventually should. If it still doesn't then try Smart Switch.
Once you have restored your device you can start from scratch.
Hello all. I'm having some trouble getting my note 5 to work again. I downloaded the new Marshmallow update today from sammobile and proceeded to flash it with odin. After 10 seconds I got the fail red box in odin, disconnected my phone and got this error: '' an error has occured while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software''.
So I went ahead and read in a couple of forums and saw that people got their phones working back using Kies. I did that. Entered my model number (sm-n920g) and entered the serial number. Kies then started to download the firmware and the recovery failed. I have no idea what to do really. Should I try using the Smart Switch program instead? Flashing a lollipop one via odin? Or what? I've never had any trouble before flashing stock roms or customs on any of my other phones, so I'm getting a bit frustrated after Kies didn't work. Any recommendations would be gladly appreciated!
I would personally go back and flash the stock lollipop firmware and double check that the marshmallow update you are using is not corrupted. Also, make sure to use twrp 3.0.1 as a recovery. I was having boot loops at first until I discovered the correct recovery file.

Well the lollipop stock rom failed too. I'm getting an error in the download mode that says SW REV CHECK FAIL. Don't know what it means or how to fix it, but I'm currently not able to flash anything. What can I do??

Please make sure the download is not corrupted or ensure you are using the correct firmware file.

Before i flashed the mm rom i flashed the modem and bootloader and twrp with odin.
Hello everyone,
I tried installing my devices firmware from the samobile site, after having it boot loop. I got it into download mode, connected it to my pc running odin, and tried flashing the firmware. It got as far as loading the recovery, then tried the rest but failed in the end, saying flash write failed or something like that. Would a custom firmware work better? It seems there are tools for other versions of the s3 mini, but not mine, so I'm not sure of the next step.
Thanks in advance,
Nick
You could try using kies to flash the firmware and there is safestrap(twrp) available for the g730v. If kies doesn't work make sure you are following the steps to flash the odin firmware correctly.

I believe I followed the directions correctly for odin, and the kies software should have worked since my phone had an error message that it couldn't see the phone. I tried installing twrp, didn't take. I tried finding the correct safestrap file, but the only one close was for the s3 and the person said it was too big for their screen.
I appreciate your help, and any more would be much appreciated.

Maybe you downloaded some bad firmware, where did you get your odin package from?
I would recommend downloading this for odin.

also here is a link to safestrap for when you unbrick your phone.

So the different firmware didn't work. I went so far as to uninstall kies software, used odin 3.07, 3.09, and the latest one with my the same issue. I even used a different cord. I guess the next step is to hook up my phone to my computer using ADB and see if it's stuck in write only mode.
