Question:Games picture quality

I was playing Raging Thunder 2 last night and it made me want to ask this question or raise this issue to anyone that could have an effect on or shed light on. The graphics on raging thunder 2 as well as a few other games on the nexus are as good if not better than that on the psp. So why then are there only a few decent games with good graphics, and also why not a full psp well working emulator. It seems like the gaming community is growing yet nothing all that great is being produced(no offense, just a statement based on visual display opinion). Just want to get some feedback from people that can give it to me. Thanks.

First of all, let me kill your hopes of the psp emulator (sorry!). Emulators require in excess of 10x the processing power, which is a long ways off. Android is still working on getting all gameboy games to run without skipping frames (last I saw).
As far as the well-developed games go...you have to put a lot of effort into making a game with good graphics. You also need a market for the game to sell. There are a lot of psp games because you can sell them for $40 and get a large amount of people to buy them. Good luck selling pretty much anything for $40 on android. For most people, their phone is not a gaming platform.
That said, I must agree with you on the disappointment on available games. I can understand having poor graphics, but I feel that there should be more games with greater depth and gameplay available.
This is all of course just my opinion. I am sure there is more going on than I said.

Hi im thinking of buying a nice phone for playing games is xperia t right thing. How are games like modern combat 4 , nfs most wanted, spiderman, dark knight rises running on this device . Plz give a quick response

Out of the box, it works OK until it gets hot. There have been numerous threads about thermal throttling kicking in after a while and killing performance - do a search rather than creating an 'urgent' new thread next time.

This phone gets HOT when playing games? i thought its 28nm cpu will stay cool. Should i buy xperia T or should i buy htc one XL for gaming
by the way i researched alot and could not find a similar threat.

Most new phones have some sort of heat issue and thermal throttling. I would recommend trying the games on the handsets to see exactly what you feel about it.

I am running now at 192 - 1458MHz, both cores always on, when the heat is going over about 65°C, CPU is throttled to 1188MHz (and less), still with both cores on. When I am gaming a little longer, CPU temperature is going up to 75°C and battery temperature does not exceed 50°C while connected to wall charger.
All games I know are running smoothly this way.
These temperatures should be fine. If anything goes wrong with these temperatures, then it's a bad device.
Thing that is low on T, is RAM. I would recommend something with 2GB. I believe there will be games with 2GB requirement soon. And T has only 640MB available RAM for applications. And system is using about 300 - 400MB. The rest of RAM is low even for browser and low for future gaming, at least now in ICS.
And internal memory chip has not very good performance. For example SenseMe Slideshow (plastic frames) never makes smooth slideshow. Opening phone or SMS app takes almost 2 seconds. Opening NFS Most Wanted takes about 15 seconds (and this procedure kills all opened apps, very nice. Etc.
I am not telling it's a bad device, I like it (except wifi, that one drives me mad. But I recommend something else for heavy gaming.

Out of curiosity, ¿what rom/kernel combo are you using?. I'm interested in undervolting and underclocking my device.
I used Siyah kernel while I was on Timin8r's stock rom, but now I'm running AOKP and I don't know any current kernel compatible with that.

Siah kernel, but works on stock kernel too (except 192MHz). Values are changed manually.

i have already ordered the Xperia T But hope that it will not dissapoint me Devices with 2GB are out of my reach and in my country i found xperia T the fastest in my current budget

You won't be disappointed. It is good device. But has some disadvantages. Just like other devices.

I'm sure you will enjoy it. The Xperia T is quite fast and capable.

One more question , Does modern combat 4 run smooth on this device ? And are the graphics high like s3?

Its got f*** all to do with ram. 1gig is enough. We get full effects like the galaxy s3, and as mentioned in earlier comments adjusting the throttling works wonders. This game never lags for me.

Bit worried about new Modern Combat 5 and Dead Trigger 2 though.
I can get xperia T (or TX) for 320$ in my country and it is a really really great phone (I tried it in one shopping mall) so...

Gameloft have started adding graphics setting to their games which is a good move, so I imagine MC5 will have them. Dunno about dead trigger 2 but they normally optimize their games well. I have a lot of games, they all work fine after reducing the thermal throttling. Only problems you might face is games being unavailable such as a few flu titles, but device spoofing takes care of that. My phone sometimes shuts down from online gaming because the battery can't take the stress, but as long as the throttle allows 12420000 or lower it rarely happens unless battery is low. Plus a friend is trying to make a fix for it, by putting out a voltage based on averages, rather than having a voltage that is too high then it dropping too low under pressure . Also its the same chip as USA version of GS3

Dead Trigger 1 plays smooth on my Cortex A5 800Mhz and Adreno 200. :\ Few lags here and there but nothing noticeable... I think this will handle Dead Trigger 2... Subway Surfers lags like hell though.
How about N.O.V.A 3 and MC4? I just worry about constant non-playable frame rates. I can't judge by YouTube. Do you get smooth experience with Adreno 225?

Yeah its pretty good. My shutdowns are getting bad though. If you get one of these get one with a 1780mah battery, the 1850mah is fatally flawed

Is Xperia zr laggy with stock?

Did any of the users find the phone lag at any point of time? Please help me out with this. I have heard that the phone to lags, is it true? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

oh god no, mine is fast as lightening, I am still amazed (after having it for more than one month) at how fast it is. Switching between apps is instant, browsing the gallery the same.

I was reluctant to believe that it was laggy. Since it uses the same chipset as the nexus 4 or a better version. How is the heavy games performing? I know there plenty of videos regarding gaming reviews. But I just want a views from a user of xperia zr. Since its a little on the costly side for me and want to make sure it's worth it.

not so laggy . my zr is smooth when running apps . a little bit laggy when play heavy games ,but not so obvious . this is a great phone with a little cost :fingers-crossed:

You mean the Game lags are not much noticeable? I would be installing Asphalt 7, if I get this phone. How would xperia zr stand up to nexus 4 in performance section?

Mine is laggy, not all the time but if you keep screen on for about 10 minutes and launching apps after apps, it gets really laggy especially on Chrome. I even have display issues where black screen are displayed on certain apps for awhile before showing up. Not sure if it's because I have too many sync data and background apps going on but I don't understand how anyone can use a smartphone these days without a minimum of such things going on

That sounds quite bad, mine definitely does not do that. However, I have to say Chrome is laggy on any kind of phone, I would never use it, especially because of that. I use Dolphin these days.

It will drop frames in heavy gaming because of overheat. it works well in gaming as long as you can keep it cool.
there is not lag in daily uses.

even Asphalt 8 can run smoothly on XZR

Well the phone is kinda brand new so.. in this price range its expected to be smooth and fast no doubt about it. The 2 gigs and 1.5 quad boy do the job.Have the phone from more than a month and I can tell you if u have the money go for it. the heating is abit ****ty when you play heavy games more than 30 min but every smatphone heats so..its not a big deal

i think zr be able to play asphalt 7 with no lag .i already play asphalt 8 in my device ,no lag but overheat . dont play too long i think .

Other than in the lockscreen, any lag in other area too?

I have been using my zr for about two months. Lag is virtually non existent. I am happy with the performance. Dead trigger plays very well. Only problems are heating during heavy gameplay like deadtrigger or using chrome and those flaps covering headphone jack and usb port. :thumbup:

I think it's just some games that just resource hogging and seems to cause those delay and black screens.

Sony roms are the most laggy roms ever (Specially if you have many background app running!) So expect some lag when connecting to internet

Not laggy. try factory reset.

Launcher reloading during multitasking.

My launcher is frequently reloading whenever I run 2-3 apps in the background. Anyone facing the same issue? Any solution without rooting the phone. I am on .534

I've not noticed it happening unless loading up bigger games, of which I don't do much of on my phone!
Chrome, Tapatalk, Hangouts, K9, Weechat, Facebook, Amazon, YouTube all very recently, yet home is still instant on press.

That's the problem I haven't even started playing heavy games on my phone n it's happening only with running few apps in the background.

i wonder whats happening in this world.. i m using one year old xperia T and its very fast except in few cases like somebody said here when i press home after playing a heavy game it redraws for a second but other then that its snappy.... camera is also fine enough but what about you people you spend alot of money to buy Z1 which have so called S800 processor etc but in real life i dont think there is much difference while using xperia T or Z1 even some of the people are crying for camera quality of Z1 like this

BTW i m very satisfied with xperia T camera.
so i wonder whats the real worth of spending so much money wtf is all that.... even in a review of note 3 that person was saying that if you people play high end games like nova 3 etc or if you do some heavy multitasking you may feel some lag for a while........
so whats the end result i concluded??
1. Either the Manufacturers are cheating us with these marketing gimmicks like S800 processor , 3gb ram adreno 330 gpu etc etc these are for benchmarking and dont have any vast real time effect
2. Or Android is a culprit ....its very laggy Os and It cant be lag free what ever google does..Like Jelly bean butter project and all that shiit.........Thats why people like IOS and windows phone8

Hi guys,
Since you already know our device is getting older and now it is being categorized among the lower-end handsets in the android community. Games on android have never been so much better. The visuals on some recent games are breathtaking. I know the device we own is not so much of a gaming one and continuous gaming can adversely eat up the battery life and heat up the phone so please don't bring this up in the discussion which will follow since everyone knows it.
I want this thread to be a gaming thread for AHD. I would like you people to discuss about some latest and graphic intensive games and their performance on our phone. I actually want to determine the real life performance and reach the upper limits of this phone. Stats and benchmarks are just numbers and real life performance can be different. I will comment on the games which I have played on my AHD and share my experience with them. I suggest you do the same. For best performance you should restart the phone before launching the game and never run any apps in the background.

The games which I have tried personally are(I'm listing all the graphics intensive games here not the ones which are like Candy Crush):
- Asphalt 8 ( A great fun racing game with some breathtaking visuals. Overall this game runs fine on AHD. Can sometimes lag a bit when running other apps in the background but overall the experience is lovely)
- Leo's Fortune ( One of the most top rated and liked games on mobile platform. The game runs without a hitch. Can sometimes stutter on levels where there is snowfall or rain but it can be tolerated. I just loved playing it on my phone)
- Dungeon Hunter ( A lovely RPG. It performed okayish when I started playing it but after few levels it just stuttered randomly at some points which I couldn't bear and so didn't play it further on the AHD)
- Plants vs Zombies 1 & 2 ( They both run great. Love playing them every now and then)
- Riptide GP 1 & 2 ( Awesome Jet ski racing games. The visuals are amazing for a game which acquires such a low space on your phone. Try them out)
- GT Racing 2 ( Runs fine for the most part. Performance can be compared to Asphalt 8)
- Real Racing 3 ( I played this game an year ago on my AHD and the performance was not so good. It is such a great game, probably the best racing game on a mobile platform right now but for me it stuttered every now and then due to which I didn't play it further on AHD. I recently asked a member here about RR3 performance in CM11 thread since he mentioned he was playing it. Maybe its gotten better I think I should try it out again)
I've played lots of other games as well but I think these are enough to get the thread going. Please share your experience as well.

- Modern Combat 5 on this phone makes it feel that its getting really old. GFX aren't great (pixilated with textures) and its laggy too, the problem was starting the game or hoping it doesnt crash while doing a very intense level. I ran this game in Blisspop 2.2 (very stable and quick btw) and was surprised that it ran that bad.
- Madden Ultimate Team Mobile (It was a huge problem to start the game even in stock it was a problem it would just freeze and reboot) Cm11 I had better luck it would crash when loading but would load the game when I was lucky enough. Playing the game was okay too, wasn't all impressed or that since its a sports game. I think the problem is when its getting alot of data from the internet for managing the ultimate team, it would just crash there. When using Cm12 and Blisspop (especially Blisspop) It loads more often than not and managing the team would still be an issue, but you must load it one step at a time and not all at once, good enough. Best tip is to restart this device and then just run it, before other apps try to run.
Mincecraft- It just runs the game as if the phone was in the mid range category and im fine with that. Cm12 and Blisspop run it much better thus a slightly better view distance seems fine before the device lags when you put the view distance higher. Cm11 and lower (including stock) just take it down a notch and it runs fine.
I could understand why its now in the lower part of the spectrum and is compared to the moto g of last year and the moto e of this year. (judging from benchmark rankings, just slight differential)
The newer devices will always have some type of edge because it processes things much better due to the chipset architecture, management, optimization etc....
