Please help - No more fast charge & no USB mode prompt - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

The strangest of things have happened to my phone in the last two days. First, it takes a ridiculous long time to charge. Basically, fast charge is no more. It's taking me about 3 hours to charge. I have tested my cable on a friend's Mate 9 and it's working properly, so I'm not sure what to do with this.
Secondly, and more importantly, my phone won't give me a USB prompt when connected to a PC. I've tried with multiple USB cables. I have done factory resets, cleared the cache, enabled USB debugging, change the USB mode to HiSuite using the Huawei #* codes and all to no avail. My phone is not recognized by any computer, which means I can't put in nor extract files using a USB cable.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please share them!
Update: It seems my phone is stuck in charge only mode, that's why I'm not getting the prompt to switch to mass storage mode or something. Charge only mode would also make sense as it correlates with my charging battery issue. What do I do though?

I have the same problem. Any help would be much appriciated

Use a flashlight to look inside the USB port and see if there isa anything inside that doesn't belong there (dirt, dust,...)
Try cleaning the USB port with air (use a air compressor or these compressed air bottles used to clean keyboards)
If this doesn't work bring it to a repair shop, because your USB port/ charging board are probably broken

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried cleaning the USB-c port with compressed air, which removed all the lint.
Though, it didn't do anything for the pc connection and fast charging problems.
I'll try to get a replacement phone so i can sent it in for repair.
If anyone else has any ideas before I sent it in, let me know!

Unable to mount USB to PC.

So, after messing around with AC Sideload Wonder Machine installing a bunch of apps, something happened and now I can't mount my Captivate to my computer. When I plug the USB into the PC, it momentarily shows "Charging" on BattStatt, but then it goes away immediately and the phone does not show an option to mount nor does it charge the phone.
I have the USB settings set to Mass Storage and USB debugging off. I've tried a different computer and nothing. USB drivers have been installed.
For some reason, it charges the phone if I plug it into the wall.
Did I damage the cable? Did I corrupt some system files? Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Edit: Not rooted, stock android 2.1. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the USB drivers. Doesn't help.
Did you try enabling usb debugging again?

Yeah, that doesn't do anything either.
D'oh, just went through this too. Been a while I guess since I'd done it. You have to open the notification bar and select the "copy files for USB" option.

try using another cable, if it doesn't work, look into possibly master reset. If not that, try one click downloader reset.

I just tried another cable on another PC and it sort of works if I jiggle it a bit - I'm able to maintain a connection and transfer files, and it charges as well. I'm starting to think the USB port on the my phone may be defective.
My usb port was a little bent on my phone, after one of my sons tried to disconnect the cable sideways rather than straight. I just adjusted the outer parts very carefully with small pliers, and also bent the inner contact slightly. After that I had no more problems with charging, just be careful! Maybe that could help you, mrpibb?
Also make sure your USB slider door is fully open. It will "click" when fully open or closed.

Yeah, it's fully opened. Using the cable that came with the phone, it never works. Using a different cable, it sometimes works. The weird thing is that it charges fine via AC adapter when its plugged into the wall.

Spitballing here but it might not be the cable but the adapter on the phone.
Pins 1 and 5 (power) might be ok but either pin 2 or 3 (data) could be defective on the phone.

USB port repair

It appears that either the USB port or the USB controller is failing (has failed). The phone still charges but neither the phone nor any computer recognizes that the phone is plugged in. Even when I plug the phone into a wall jack, the phone does not make any sound or light up or show it is charging (it does charge though). If I go to the battery settings while the phone is plugged in (computer or wall) the phone recognizes that it is charging.
If the phone is off and I plug in the usb cable (compter or wall) the phone turns on by itself. This is problematic because I cannot get into the download mode using the 3 button combo. I also cannot get into the download mode using apps like Reboot Widget.
I installed USB Host Controller which says that the USB cable is not plugged in when it is. I can disable and enable USB charging though. Changing the USB Host Drivers has no effect.
So it looks like I need to send it into mobiletechvideos for repair. But reading through the reviews there is concern that just replacing the USB port wont fix my problems if the USB Controller is shot.
Not only did they replace the USB port and get it back to me in about a week but they told me that since the controller had failed and the phone couldn't talk to the computer I wasn't charged the full price for the repair.

So I guess I'm asking if anyone here knows anything about this issue and if mobiletechvideos.com can repair it.
I am also going to email mobiletechvideos.com asking them this same question.
Thanks for your time.

Mobiletechvideos (Connexion2005 on xda) can most likely repair your phone. Him and Adam Outler have been doing the impossible with devices!

S6 Problem

Hello I have a Samsung galaxy s6 (G920A). When I plug it in a wall charger it says that is USB connected instead of Charger Connected. I also tried to connect it to a PC and it says that is malfunctioned. I factory reseted twice and also deleted cache, booting it in safe mode. Does someone have a fix for that. Thank you!!
Try using another cable to charge this phone
I already tried that
Maybe something shorted across pins in the USB port? Try canned air to clean it out? Otherwise sounds like failing port to me...

Reverse charging

When I plug in my huawei p20 pro its always set on" Reverse charging" by default, so I have to change this setting to "Charge only" to be able to charge it. Is there any solution for this problem?
Is this the same every time? With original charger?
Reverse charging issues
I'm having the same issue with my Huawei p20 pro, but its also giving me a notification "supplying power to connected device over USB" even though nothing is connected to the phone.
Supplying power to the connected device over USB
Same issues here too, even though the charger is not connected still getting this notification, battery seems to be draining fairly quickly too. Help much appreciated, thanks.
Maybe the usb port needs to be cleaned. Try with an air jet, don't use any liquid.
SOLUTION!!

Hi there I bought a Huawei P20 pro 128 GB 2 weeks ago and 3 days ago began having the same exact issue, It would only charge if I turned the phone completely off, and when it was on it would be stuck to the setting reverse charge even when I had nothing connected to the phone it would continue telling me I am currently connected via USB and reverse charging.
THE SOLUTION was CLEANING the USB port, Mine had a little bit of dirt and possibly a touch of corrosion which provided a point for the phone to discharge. the phone thought it had a USB connection and was trying to reverse charge it. So I used very small tweezers off of a jackknife and lightly scraped around the connector of the phones USB port and the phone stopped saying it was connected and reverse charging, and began charging normally when I connected it to USB! So clean the port, done use liquid but maybe a small pin or tiny tweezers and lightly scrape all the surfaces within the phones charging port until the notification that the phone is reverse charging goes away! Do be delicate though as scraping it to hard could cause something to break just do it very lightly
Thanks let me know if that helped fix yours aswell!

Question S21 ultra - USB card readers not working

I think it came with android 12, the card reader is not recognized when plugged in. I have tried 3 of them. They used to work with my S21 Ultra. When I plug them in to my old P30 Pro, they work fine.
Also, I can't connect to my PC as I used to, now the only way is to use DEX.
USB debugging is on.
Any ideas folks?
You say it won't connect to your PC. I assume that means wired USB connection? And when you refer to Dex, I presume you mean you're using is wireless rather than wired?
Assuming those things, it sounds like you have having issues with USB data lines and the common denominator here is your device. My guess is a faulty USB socket or worse, damage to the board itself.
You don't mention charging issues but that would still work if the power lines are OK. Does the phone fast charge? That uses the data lines to provide extra power. If it doesn't then there is definitely a problem with them.
I would suggest this is a hardware fault and would need opening up and servicing or a replacement board. I cant help you with that though. Sorry.
No problems here with cardreaders or connection with PC or monitor with wired Dex connection (SM-G998B on G998BXXU4CVC2).
Suggest you first check your charging port for dust or debris. Clean with compressed (dry) air or gently with toothpick.
no problem with charging......wall socket or in the car.
I don't use fast charging
My little thumb drive still works...just plugged it in. As suggested, blow some compressed air in the USB port.

If the power lines are unaffected then your phone will still charge. Fast charging works by utilising the data lines to increase the power provided. Turn on fast charging (you can switch it off after) and plug your phone in to a wall socket. Does it fast charge? If not then there is definitely an issue with the data lines. This then confirms why connected USB devices don't work. As others have suggested, clean the port and see if it works. If it still doesn't work then it will need to go for repair. Virtually all Samsungs have a secondary board which holds the USB port and bottom speaker. This can be replaced.
