Failed to install NovaCom Drivers when Installing Android on HP TP - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running Windows 10 and when I try to download Novacom drivers I am getting a Driver Installation Failed error message. Per the suggestion, I turned off Windows Defender and tried again, no luck.
What can I do to resolve this?

Thank you but those were the instructions I was following. It states that if you receive driver failed message to turn off anti-virus, I've already done that and I am still getting the error.
I need to know if there is something else I can do???

So let's see if we both are on the same page. You have Java installed on your PC? Yes? I tested the file and found it does fail to install. I'm guessing that your machine is 64 bit, so download this link and it will work. I just finished installing novacom using it on my new laptop. https://www.dropbox.com/s/p48176ojadowxzh/NovacomInstaller_x64.msi?dl=0 Tell you what, here is a link to the 32 bit version too. Download both if you want. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gzwpqv9weyvhdox/AAAmTQwaCV4qxct5oVDzXhkEa?dl=0
Just right click on one in Windows Explorer and click on install.

Windows 7 RC on Shift?

Hi All,
I was trying to install Win 7 on my HTC Shift using the USB disk method. The installation goes well until it get to the last step configuring windows or your machine.... then it gives me an error, Installer was unable to configure windows to run on your hardware restart installation.
Any ideas why is that or how it can be resolved?
Thanks
There's the RTM version now available, check for Hash to be sure it's the real deal, and use the same install instructions. I recommed you use Windows Update before drivers, then install what is left because there's some new drivers like Authentec TrueSuite which is only downloadable through manufacturers. All works

I'm running Win 7 RC for a while now on my shift... and everything is fine... I don't know what is the issue you have. maybe you should try to reinstall it and check if you have a correct version of Win 7 RC.

Failed to Connect to Server

Keep getting this message in Command Prompt when trying to install CM9 on my touchpad.
Yes I have cd to the right directory in command prompt
Yes it does show up in Device manager as Palm Novacom (bootie) under the tab Palm Novacom Modules.
Yes drivers are installed
Yes I did re install all drivers after removing them.
Tried different USB cables
Will not show up in Adb either.
My computer does recognize it, in both WebOS Recovery mode, and in Mass storage mode.
What does this message mean? Am I missing something?
Appreciate any help.
Thank you.
Edit: Solved!
Thanks to Scifan on IRC for his help!
I've got the same exact issue... i have a feeling it has something to do with win 7 64bit, im seeing alot of people with the same issue with that setup.
Reinstall novacom using this this installer
http://universal-novacom-installer.googlecode.com/files/UniversalNovacomInstaller.jar
Than in your type this (services.msc) in your windows start bar. Look for Palm Novacom in the services.
If its not there, try installing novacom drivers again while looking at the services menu. It worked for me like that, not sure why. But this was my problem.
I had reinstalled novecom drivers a few times trying to get it to work, and that some how did the trick for me. Was pretty weird.
My net book is running windows 7 32bit. Dont know if 64bit is going to have problems as I cannot test.
Good luck!

Windows 8 drivers

I am running Windows 8 at work to test some compatibility with a few applications we use. I'm having difficulty getting drivers for my i9000 though. I've tried the 1.5.5.0 for Windows 7 drivers, as well as 1.5.9.0 that I found elsewhere on the forum, meant for Windows 8, but the device shows up as i9000-GT in error state in device manager. I even installed the latest version of Kies hoping it would pick up some drivers.I can mount the storage fine, but I cannot ADB to the phone (nothing listed with adb devices).
I know there are probably very few people running Windows 8, but does anyone have any ideas?

I do have the SDK downloaded, installed, and updated. Is there a generic driver in there somewhere?

you can download drivers from My Android Collections and or a solution for USB connection problems from My Android Solutions
Kies on windows 8 did the trick for me, it's strange your phone isn't detected that way. Are you using a x86 or a 64bits version ?

HP wont let me in after partial wipe.

I havent used my Touchpad for a year or so but took it on holiday to Portugal. I tried getting my GMAIL to work and it would not. So I did a partial wipe. Now it lets me say what country I am and what language then goes to wifi screen. It shows its picking up my wifi and lets me sign in then an error message comes up and it goes no further I understand Webos is not supported any more so was wondering how to load a new software package ( Android?) and start again. Help please?
Install Android and you're good

You'll need to connect the touchpad to a PC prior to using the toolbox. It'll let the PC read the touchpad as a USB mass storage device and you can migrate your ROM, GAPPS, etc. onto the device and let the toolbox work its magic .

It took you 4hrs to get to step 1? Further explanation is needed here, the steps are in an order for a reason.
If you're having issues getting the novacom drivers installed disable any antivirus or spyware protection that might be preventing the program from downloading the correct drivers for your system. Also make sure you have java installed and reboot after installing everything.
1)Getting started, Requirements and Preparation:
A)You must have the novacom software installed on your PC before running Jcsullins Touchpad Toolbox.
Download and run the Universal Novacom Installer 1.4.1. Click here:
Note:You will need to have Java installed to run the Universal installer. Click here:
Note: You may need to reboot after installing this software.
Or
Download, extract and install the appropriate version of Novacom for your OS. Click here:
Note: Under Linux the Novacom driver is installed at /opt/Palm run it from this location.

where can i find BLU R1 HD driver for windows 7?

Anyone can tell me where to download BLU R1 HD driver for windows 7?
For whatever reason, my windows 7 VM does not recognize the phone and I finally narrowed it down to missing the correct driver. (I have no USB device driver in my windows 7 machine).
Thanks in advance.

I will try the one you suggested. For whatever reason, it gives me network error. I will try again tomorrow and let you know if this zip file downloaded okay.
Thanks

I had win7 and eventually gave up using it on R1HD. Drivers couldn't be installed!
I switched to Win8.1, rest was story. Super smooth and easy.
I heard Win10 is even better than win8.1.
Good luck,
