Sim Tray stuck on Oneplus 5 one plus 5 - OnePlus 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

HI,
So I entered two nano sims in the Oneplus 5. One was normal and other was modified (chip replaced on empty sim case with double sided tape firmly).
Now the tray is stuck. I think the outer modified sim has expanded a bit and wont come out. I have been adviced to take the phone to service center (by customer care).
Now I want to know if any of you have had sim tray stuck issues and if you resolved it in anyway? I have seen the teardowns where they say to remove the tray before hand.
Kinda worried that scratch free phone will get roughed up by those service centre technicians...

No offense, but weren't you concerned that something like this might happen while you were actually doing that stupid stuff?

Yeah now that I think about it. I wanted to make a payment which needs a one time password on mobile no. I didn't have other device handy...

Hmmm well, I think I get it. Anyway, I'm based in India and I've sent my brother's OnePlus x in for a service and the device was relatively unscathed. Tho I admit the experience might wary. I suggest you pack the device up nicely if you've got to send it off long. Hope everything goes well. Don't do stuff you're not sure off. It might make things worse. Play it safe, mate.

Do I have to send it off? I am going to visit the service centre there are two nearby. One is like a franchise kind of and other one is Oneplus Exclusive one. I am going for latter tomorrow.
I did try to pry it tray out. But I made sure only touch the tray itself. It doesn't come out more than a mm or so. I feel so stupid...damn not one scratch on the device and now this.

I only said that in case you didn't have one nearby, as in my case, the nearest one was 800km away. But don't worry, it'll be okay. Just hope for the best. And leave it alone till it's done. I did that mistake with another device, my kld Nexus tab and managed get the Sim tray stuck neither in or out. Apparently it broke the internal clips and it made matters worse. So leave it be and let the trained personnel handle and pray it's not major. Hope everything goes ok.

BRICKED my One

Had my One plugged in to the USB on my computer...unplugged it because it was plugged in to USB 3 and needed it in USB 2....brick. No rhyme or reason. No power, no bootloader, no recover, no charge, nothing. Went to Sprint, they were unable to do anything either so they're ordering me a new device. They said it wont be a refurb since its so new so that's nice.
Not really sure why I'm sharing but wanted to get the info out there just in case others may have had the same thing happen to them or just be careful if you keep your device plugged in and you unplug it from the computers USB or AC usb.
PS The way the Sprint Tech's looked over my device really worried me and worries me for the future when I'll actually have some signs of wear and tear on the device. They normally have the ability to check for water damage with the stickers on the battery and a few other locations....well that doesnt exist for the One, at least in a very accessible spot. He took my phone (looks brand new) to his manager and his manager said "I think you'll be fine to replace it." Well, if my phone has scuffs all over it, etc a hardware issue doenst automatically stem from the wear and tear but I believe that's going to be the One's "indicator" and I think some may have a serious issue getting warranty repairs done since they dont have a true way of telling signs of water damage, etc without destroying the device by taking it apart.
I must say though....this is the sexiest paperweight ever.
as someone who has worked for sprint as a repair tech I can say you shouldnt be worried. The policy goes like this when trying to qualify a device for a replacement at no cost (for those with insurance that is).
1.Screen Cracks
2. Water Damage
3. Personal hardware modification (if the tech is an ass he can call you out on custom roms etc...but we usually let this slide)
Outside of that NO sprint store should EVER deny you a replace if its a legit issue just because of some nicks or scratches. Cosmetic damage isnt part of the criteria. So if you find a store that does **** you around when you know youre in the right....find another store or call corporate because thats NOT how its supposed to work.

Thanks...so I know that on the HTC Dev website it states the generic warnings but Sprint still will not cover any issues from developing even though it appears to be widely accepted now?

Yeah sometimes it just depends on who the technician is as to if they are going to cut you some slack or not. The good thing is most techs really dont know anything indepth about custom roms or rooting. So if you dont say much to them you should be fine.

This. About a week before I got my One, I had gone into my local corp store with my GNex which had an unlocked bootloader, but wasn't rooted. I was having awful signal issues, even with the free Airave that was sent to me. Two managers and finally a tech from the back looked over that phone, rebooting it several times. Each time I winced because that big white unlocked lock symbol showed up and I just was waiting for one of them to say something. The closest one was one of the managers asked if I was "jailbroken" because he didn't recognize my Beautiful Widgets weather widget. I walked out of there with a NIB GNex. (A week later I got an early upgrade and sold it back for my black One).
As a retail consultant for Sprint, I'm shocked how little our techs do know tbh. Lol. I run circles around these guys in triage.

HTC Must Hate Me

So I ordered a silver HTC one. Got black. I know Amazon issue right. So I stuck it out until the end of the return widow. Because I didn't want to be with a phone over a color. So eventually I did the exchange. The new HTC one I got now has bleeding of the buttons backlight on the bottom right hand corner. Now Amazon does not want anything to do with the phone. So now I have no choice but to send it into HTC for a repair. I have to pay for shipping and be without a phone again for at least 2 weeks. Now the last time HTC has fixed something for me they forced me to buy a new phone! They had replaced the motherboard and did a "IMEI transfer" and the IMEI could never be activated. HTC said it wasn't in sprint database. Sprint said the phone was broken. Both of them didn't want anything to do with me. So although I know Im not getting a new mother board, I'm scared of sending this in. Not only that I don't want to pay for shipping and be without a phone. Just a little rant I guess. So I don't know what i'm going to do.

Don't send it in unless it is a major problem. I would have just stuck with the black that was fine except the color. When you exchange you never know what you might get. I don't know how bad the led bleed is, but ones I've seen are not so bad I would ever return one.
Good luck.

Yeah, I might wait a while. For how small it is. It's very annoying watching videos in darkness. I got to say though silver is much better than black. I had fingerprints all over the back. Like my evo lte :/ . Maybe when I go on vacation and activate my Note. I'll send it in though, only if they pay for shipping.
My screen bleeds, there are a bunch of white dots when the screen is on but black, I thought it was going to bother me a lot and wanted to exchange, but didn't, you'll probably get over it too, so don't sent it lol

If you PAID money for your device, you are ENTITLED to a perfectly functioning, as advertised product. If HTC screws up, they will pay for shipping until they get it right (except the first time). So keep at it. Plus, why would you buy from amazon? The HTC website has it for a similar price, I'm sure.

Call sprint corporate number. Say that your local store is not treating you to the proper standards that you, as a Sprint customer expect and deserve. Let them know that you are paying insurance for the device, but that you have not broken nor damaged any part of the phone, that this is how the phone has come, and that many other users have had the SAME problems you are facing, and they have been treated with respect and diligence. Sprint is top-notch at customer support, but sometimes local stores are assholes. One 19 year old kid (no offense to 19 y/os) thought he could treat me like **** cuz his name tag said 'manager'. He said since my phone was rooted he could not and would not assist me with an Evo 4G LTE hardware issue. I kindly informed him that Sprint corporate policy dictates that a rooted phone must be treated as any other phone. It will also be subject to a stock software 'update'. He said: "I am the manager, and I don't want my store helping people that root their phones". Called corporate on his rude ass, where they linked me to said policy, so I could print it. I went the next day, with key parts highlighted for him... He thanked me [sarcastically] for my phone call, and said he now had to deal with his write-up. Oh and he handed me a new phone which was shipped next-day for me
Long story short, Sprint takes care of their customers... But there is always one guy or another that just wants to be an ass. Speak with someone at corporate, maybe ask for a supervisor when you they answer. Let them know that you are being wronged. You will be helped. Oh and don't forget to say you wanted silver.
My HTC One is clean, beautiful, and 0 flaws, no light leakage, no recessed buttons, no screen popping out. But fortunately this was just luck; it's my first One

Thisis why I won't order my phone's through a third party online. I will order online but only from places I can physically return them to like sprint online or bestbuy online. Most times my phone's r fine but if I do have a problem I don't want to go through the waiting process.

[Q] Switch sim card from scratched note 4

So i just got my note 4 yesterday and I love it been an android user since the og droid. Anyways here's the deal. I didn't have money to get a screen protector since I didn't get paid till today. Thought I would baby the phone till I could order one from Amazon but today i scratched it by accidentally putting it in my pocket with my old phone still in there( baggy sweats so I didn't notice).
Well I preordered a note 4 but went in to another store and they had one in Stock. Just checked my email and they just shipped my preorder. Could I open the package and switch sim cards without it triggering a change in phones? It's not a terrible scratch but it's an inch long and it's driving me crazy. Thanks in advance for any help. Just switched from Verizon so I don't know how tmobile works.

All the phones have embedded IMEI code numbers in the phone itself as well
as on the bar code label and that's the very first thing Verizon or or any other
carrier checks when you turn in a phone or return a phone for any reason.
If the IMEI number is different than what they expect it to be you will get
yourself in a lot of trouble, they will either not refund your money or bill
you for the full price of the phone if it hasn't been fully paid off already.
There is no way to change or alter the IMEI number.
Good luck!
hmm please clarify if I'm wrong but you want to swap your scratched phone and put the scratched phone in the new Note 4's box and return it. Am I correct?

As bad as it sounds yes I'm trying to do that. I sort of feel justified to do that because when opening the account they ported my number to my wife's phone and i had no cell service.
I heard if i put a screen protector on it itmight hide the scratch a little bit but it's killing me that my 2 day old phone has a big scratch on it.
Ouch, you're just begging for an onslaught of hostile replies, aren't you?
Here's the thing, you can't switch boxes, you can't switch phones in boxes, you can't switch IMEI's, and you're probably not going to be able to return a phone with a scratched screen, but ethics aside, there's always a very slim chance if the rep is distracted. You could always try faking Tourette Syndrome if you're really that desperate, but it seems like a lot of work for the slim chance of a relatively small payoff.
The screen protector they will almost for sure take off before scanning the phone in, but that idea did make me lol (thanks for that). You might have to live with it or hope that it isn't too noticeable with the protector on and use it that way. Don't mess with switching phones though if you want to avoid embarrassment in the store.

Glad i was able to make you laugh lol. I was wondering about the screen protector for myself not to notice, not tmobile since it looks like i have to live with the scratch. I think i notice it more because I'm looking at every pixel of that beautiful screen. Too bad i didn't sign up for jump so i can trade it in for the note 5.
Ok here's my last resort before I'm stuck with it lol. Wonder if i can return it before the 14 day grace period is up and just get the nexus 6 when it comes out. Has anyone done this successfully before? I know I'll have to pay a $50 restocking fee.

The issue isn't returning and waiting for the Nexus, you can always do that, the issue is trying to return a phone with a scratch on the screen. The re-stock fee is just for opening the package, it doesn't cover damage. So really, the best answer you're going to get is either try to sell it on eBay - if there's no financing on the phone you could likely get close to what you paid, especially if you're willing to sell internationally, or, just take it back into the T-Mobile store and hope they don't notice. If you're really that determined and they refuse it, try taking it to other stores. It's not really ethical advice, but that's really your only option. Personally I would be way too mortified at the idea that i'm going to walk in, look the rep in the eye and expect him/her to take the phone with the scratch, it would look pretty shady. I would just sell it on eBay. But obviously it's up to you.
you scratched it, you own it...coming here asking for ways to pull a fast one isn't welcome, nor wanted...
Well, as entertaining as it would be to watch the onslaught here, this thread is going to be closed before it gets out of hand.
That being said, what you are wanting to do is not only immoral, but also illegal and unethical. No matter what screw ups you had to endure when they swapped your devices there is no justification for what you are attempting. This is equivalent to buying a new car, wrecking it, and returning it to the lot claiming this is how you received it.
You damaged the device, intentionally or not, and you must deal with the consequences of that action. Your carrier can hold you liable for the cost of both devices, in full, if you actually attempted to pursue this, not to mention having legal grounds to get you for fraud.

ATT S6 edge screen is scratched/swirled out of the box.

edit: Story of my process last night.
So I got my phone in the morning, and opened it up to find the screen was swirled and scratched and looked really bad in any light. Luckily my mom preordered the S6 (I have the S6 Edge) so I went over to her house to compare phones or to see if she had any scratches on hers. Her phone was absolutely perfect and was a good side by side of what my phone should have looked like. So I went into the AT&T store to activate and talk about getting a replacement or something.
I told AT&T about my concerns about the swirling and scratching and the worker that was helping me looked at it and then tried to justify it. He told me that it looked like a "geometric pattern" so clearly it wasn't from shipping and it was clearly from manufacturing. I think he was trying to comment on the concentric circling of the scratches, so I got what he was saying, but regardless of where the damage came from I felt like they should be responsible for it since they are the ones selling the phone.
Well, I asked what my options are. He told me that I couldn't activate the phone because then I wouldn't be able to return it to an AT&T store to get it replaced. He then told me that it was Samsungs problem and that I should contact their support to get it fixed, since it was a preorder he claimed the phone came straight from Samsung and not AT&T so they aren't responsible. A manager walked over to see how everything was going and when I mentioned my issues, he basically just told me that it sucked. He then walked away. On my way out I told another manager (I am assuming they were both managers. They had dress coats on that said Manager and had the AT&T logo on it.) The other manager said basically the same thing.... "Bummer." And that was it. I walked out with no options from AT&T.
I contacted Samsung and their support told me that I need to talk to AT&T about it since Samsung only manufactures the phones and AT&T sells them, so it's AT&Ts problem since they are the ones actually selling the device. So I got the official run around.
My only bet is to go back to AT&T on the 10th... which I'm supposed to be out of town, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
Going to try to contact AT&T today and see what they say.
Like T-Mobile people were complaining about, the screen is swirled straight out of the box. It looks really bad.
I can try and get pictures if people want. Just figured I'd get a thread started to see if anyone else has the problem.
Edit: Picture here. I'll take more tonight.

It's the same exact swirl pattern that people on the T-Mobile forums are talking about. It looks like an old cars paint in the sun.
Sorry to see you have this problem. Both the phones that I've received, mine and my girlfriend's, seem to be scratch free. I tried to scrutinize with the brightest light I could find, the sun etc, but I couldn't see a blemish. The battery life is crap, but that's another story.
Hope you get this resolved.

I just want to use the phone. I was so excited to use it, but I can't activate it because then AT&T apparently won't let me exchange it...
I wouldn't mind the scratches if I was allowed to use the phone until a new, scratch free one got here... but whatever. Stuck with my S4 while everyone else gets to enjoy their new stuff.
In all honesty man, I'd try another ATT store. I think they are just trying to shirk responsibility. Or call them and have them overnight you one. It is their product, their responsibility.

Yeah, talking with AT&T support now.
Is anyone getting Edge's that aren't scratched?
My 128gb Black Sapphire Edge should be here tomorrow. Think I'll be taking it to my local AT&T next to my work to unbox it so there is no discrepancies incase the display is scratched.

I called ATT support and they are sending me a new one out.
Sucks because I got the phone on Monday, but I probably won't get to actually use one until the end of the week. Which is fine, just excited.
However, I am going to assume this new one getting sent out is going to be scratched too.
The 128GB models have been fine I think, mostly 32GB models are scratched. Which makes me feel dumb for buying the 32GB model now... Should have just gotten the bigger version.
I used to work in an AT&T store, basically replacing the phones in store is the managers discretion and they never want that on their audit because it somehow looks bad for them, or at least that is the impression our manager gave us. So our store handled those situations the same way, we just kind of keep passing off the blame and hope it will carry the customer out of the store (no longer our problem).
The only way to get something done through AT&T is to call into support as you did, sometimes support will even notate on the account that the store has to replace the device. This kind of forces the store to do so, because there is a trail and the regional manager would get pissed when they discover the store keeps passing off issues. We had a customer do that once and our manager still refused to replace it, so the customer kept calling into support until the regional manager was notified and took a look at the account and then they see notes for weeks that the customer has attempted going into a store for help and been fighting with the store manager.

How sure are you about this?
The reason I ask is that I hadn't really noticed many people posting which specific model they had that was scratched, but there could be some credibility to it, and a bit of shady dealings on Samsung's part if this is actually the case.
Should have my 128GB in a few hours here.

I've only seen maybe one person complain about 128GB version, everyone else with 128GB versions have been fine.
However, everyone with 32GB versions seem to be having the issue. It could be coincidence and have to do with popularity of the 32GB over the 128GB.

So exactly how'd this process go for you?
They gave me so much run around I've got half a mind to go to every AT&T store I can just to curse out random employees until I feel better.
The short of the line of crap they gave me is that the shipper (FedEx) is to blame and that a case will have to be opened with them before -anything- else occurs. This of course leaves me with no device until they and FedEx discuss whatever they need to in order to deal with this bullcrap.
What I'm going to do for now is see if I can wait until the local retail store gets their units in to just do an exchange. If that doesn't work, I don't know... maybe I'll be an ass and let my lawyer give them a call. Frankly I'm just that irritated at this point.

How easy is the moto care process?

I cracked my nexus 6 on the corner yesterday. I bumbled it while getting out of the car. I thought I saved it as I was able to handle it all the way down to about 2-3 inches from the ground but couldn't fight it off. It finally left my hand and dropped corner first onto the concrete. The tempered glass looks to be holding it together but it's a hideous sight so I plan on using my moto care to get it replaced. What's the process as I've never used it before.
Well so far this process has been a huge pain in the ass. I've been on the phone for about 1.5-2 hours. They can't find my IMEI number in the system.
first they asked me to email the receipt and they would call me back. I asked them why I couldn't just give them the order number of the phone, or the moto care contract number. They said they could do that. After that they still couldn't find my information so they had to escalate me. Once escalated they still couldn't find my information but they said to give them 24 hours.
I'll update more as the saga continues. So far NOT satisfied......
^^^ this is not encouraging to hear after purchasing MotoCare with my N6.
Hope it works out well for you! :fingers-crossed:
Been dealing with them for almost a month, have fun

so far the update is that the IMEI is not in their system and they have to get it updated in their database properly. They said it could take them some time. Definitely does not sound promising. Thank god the phone is still functional. Perhaps you can be pro-active and get them to make sure your phone is in the system properly so when the time comes, replacing your device will be much easier.

Which is hilarious because they sold you the device and I'm pretty sure require the IMEI to purchase moto care. I had the same problem on 2 separate devices from them. Make sure they transfer your moto care to your replacement as well (they won't).

Thanks for the update. Would've been nice to hear better things. Maybe posting to their Twitter account will get more action, and more attention, once it's out there for more then just the community here to see.
I did check my Certificate of Coverage that was emailed after Moto Care purchase and my IMEI is listed as "Serial Number". A call to them to confirm might be a good idea.

Looks like they got everything squared away. Hopefully they got the right phone coming to me. I'll be pissed if they mistakenly send me a blue 32gb. They said replacement should be here 4-5 business days.

Wouldn't want to even think about that. I waited very patiently for my white 64gb, I'd be rather disheartened if they messed up the replacement. Glad to hear it sounds like it's all good, for now... fingers crossed that the worse is over for you.

Thanks, my recommendation to everyone with moto care is to be proactive and make sure your phones are in the system properly so when the time comes everything is smooth.
My experience was totally painless with motocare.
I purchased my n6 off of Craigslist. When I got home, I dropped my phone on the tile floor and cracked the screen. I signed up for motocare, and within 12 hours I got an email conformation everything was set up.
I started a claim online, and a new phone was shipped overnight to me.
I packaged up my old phone and overnighted it back to Motorola.

Did you get a brand new phone with accessories? I just received my replacment phone and just the phone came in a bubble wrap package. no screen film on the front or the camera. There are minute (very very small) grooves on the bottom of the phone. You can't see them but you can feel them. These don't exist on my previous phone. For some reason I expected a brand new phone when using moto care

I believe the phone I received was refurbished. It did not have any film on the screen. However it came in a new box with the paperwork and fast charger.
