Who else are OCD like me that can't use glass protector because no matter what brand/thickness out there the glass screen collects dust around the edges of the protector? In search for plastic screen protector film, not glass. The stock one lifts all around the edges, Any good plastic screen protector out there?
I think Nillkin screen protector film (matte or clear) would be one of best options.

We've got the best (a little biased) non-glass screen protection around. Our Ultra Clear film is very smooth to the touch, yet adds grip when carrying the phone. They're also self-healing so you never get those annoying micro scratches from dust/sand in your pockets. They cover virtually the entire front glass and have full adhesive with zero halo. Our material is also inherently (anti-fingerprint), so there is no oleophobic coating that wears off over time and the screen is always easy to clean with a simple wipe on the shirt. They're also made in the USA and come with our Lifetime Warranty :good:

Yeah, your product seems good as per a review from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/accessories/phantomskinz-5t-t3733833 but it looks like the shipping kills it for us located in Asia.
Has anyone else encountered any good film protectors (not tempered glass)? Oddly enough OnePlus doesn't sell the same one that came preinstalled on the phone, which I really like!

I got the Nillkin one which came free with their Frosted case. Not so good...it already has a hairline scratch. But still better than the one that came with the OP5T.
Ringke also provides a film protector.
Both are Nillkin and Ringke products available at the St. Francis mall in Ortigas. (not sure if they can deliver to Batangas though)
did anyone get to test the PhantomSkinz one, I want the closest thing to the original OP with the same fit.

I bought ultimate shield film screen protector, which is good, but there is some minor issues (minor for me, but some users could be more worried)
There is slight lifting issue, likely from installation mistake I made. My microfiber cloth get so wet that i wiped with paper from sides at the end. That might have caused some dust to stick to there.
It has slight orange/yellow tint, but I didn't notice it before someone else mentioned this. It looks slightly grainy or very slight rainbow effect. These issues seems way worst on written format that they are in use and I am very easily annoyed from slight imperfections.
I have been using this one for over two months now and it's still in good condition. I would rate it maby 3,5/5
I ordered CHYI screen protector film for my OnePlus 3t and that is very good. It seems much better than ultimate shields protector. Brighter, clearer, easier to install, dry install and sticks better.
I ordered one for this OnePlus 5t, but it hasn't arrived yet. I have very high hopes for it, but here is a sample from my 3T.

Did the wet install last night since it was recommended you let it sit overnight to fully dry and cure. So far, it's AMAZING. Fully covers the screen instead of only partially like all the rest of the screen protectors out there, and it feels great. Definitely a good purchase.

Prefer Screen protector over tempered glass anyday
I never used tempered glass, until one I bought/used one on Oneplus 5T. What a terrible mistake.
Its dust, fingerprint magnet. On first fall, just came off like it never glued! Damn.
I went back to trusted Screen Guard from GadgetShieldz. They are pricey, but well worth the every penny.
I am using their screen guard/full body guard since Nexus S days.
I usually prefer Ultra Clear over Matt. Once I used Matt on Nexus 6, I didn't like a bit.
So, to summarize, considering delivery to Europe and price in euros:
skinomi: 16,64€
phantom skinz: 22,79€ (they send two protectors)
gadget shieldz: 6,52€
There is quite a difference... I think I'll try the cheapest one and see how it goes.

Just ordered this protector. Looks promising. I've tried like 4 protectors before, but sadly, it was bad experience.
Looks like the one that comes preinstalled from factory is the best. My bad that I've removed it after like 1 week.
I will post here some of my thoughts when it arrives

Hi there!
I need simple plastic film, clear screen protector, similar to what is installed on new OnePlus 3 out of the box, but this one don't cover edges of the LED, leaving about 2mm exposed from both sides.
Kindly someone give me names or links of full screen protector which is not hard glass, but soft regular screen protector which cover complete screen
Or any other Phones screen protect which can cover OnePlus 3, may be of galaxy S7 Edge
Why i need simple screen protector:
- Its thinner
- Its not noticeable, you don't feel if its there
- Prevents scratches
- Don't make device thicker, by putting extra thick layer
- Can access home button/finger print reader easily, without digging your thumb in
Why i hate Glass Screen protectors
- Thicker, makes phone fatter
- Untidy, makes phone bulky
- buries home button further inside
- At times, i have seen they can damage the screen as well
I am using the IQ Shield and I love it. Fits great and was pretty easy to apply.

protector that comes preinstalled on OnePlus 3 seem to be of a very nice quality to me, issue is that, its short, i feel they could extend it little more to sides, just before it curves down, they made it short intentionally to make people buy there full screen or other temper glass screen protectors.
May be i should try to take screen protector of some other phone, like that of Samsung and try to cut it as per OP3.
May be i can extend it to black bars where the screen ends.
I decided to try the Orzly tempered glass. Normally I'm a huge fan of the Spigen Crystal and Ultra Crystal plastic ones - still almost no noticeable marking on the Crystal I have on my LG G4, and the Ultra Crystal on my wife's Nexus 5 literally saved us a screen replacement last winter. I thought the screen HAD broken, down to ordering a replacement to put in it ... but when I peeled the Spigen off, the screen was fine. They don't have one for the OP3 yet though. So this time I thought I'd try something different with the tempered glass. If I don't like it, I'll have to keep looking.
Interested in seeing if there are any good plastic screen protector recommendations though, in case I find that I'm not a fan of the glass ones.
Best non-glass screen protector.

Its of good quality, they could cover sides bit more, as curve starts from where black line starts, i guess the made it short for people to buy their accessories and remove it, probably.

They look tempting, but i am not sure how they will even cover the curves, i heard they come off from edges, it would have been better if they had left the curves exposed, just cover the complete LED, just up to the point where LED starts.
Hopefully it will give surprising results.

Back with my findings, it's luck of the draw as I had two and one fitted perfectly and one didn't fit at all (Popped up and then snapped at the bottom) :crying:
Hi folk,
With another OnePlus product comes another OnePlus attempt at making a tempered glass screen protector which works for it. Will it be this time that is the magic attempt?
If you dont want to or can't watch the video here are my thoughts:
Yes, they seem to have finally made a tempered glass which fits perfectly on the screen without much cut off. I say much as I think there is still a tiny cut off, but it's nowhere near as noticeable as it was on the 3/3t or 5. If you want to take a look, its on the video at around the 4:04 mark.
The quality is excellent, you can barely feel or see that it's there. There are no sharp edges as the screen tapers off at the edge. It's a full glue screen protector so there is no dot matrix or rainbox effects. You do however have to be fairly careful whilst applying it and taking it off its bed as it feels like it could snap fairly easy if you rush it.
Pros:
Good fit
Feels premium
No dot matrix
No rainbox effect
Cons:
Pricey
Could break easily whilst installing
On the pricey mark, if OP have managed to make this perfect this time, I'd expect third party manufacturers to release a similar product soon at a cheaper price. So if you want to wait and do that I wouldn't blame you.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Jono
Thanks for that, good to know as I ordered one with my 5T.
Hopefully there is a decent bunch of 3rd party ones too.
A spigen tempered glass is my all time favorite screen guard.

Thanks for this. I wanted to know how much it will cut of the screen but its much lesser than earlier.
But i need to disagree something with you. You (and many others) said it was issue etc. on OP3/3T/5 what last TGSP cutted off screen. Well it wasnt really issue or fault on Oneplus side. They needed to choose to have adhesives only on sides and no cut-off or adhesives on fully but had to cut-off. That was because of OP3/3T/5 front glass design where glass started ro bend (2.5D) earlier than usual. Thats why black borders was bigger as otherwise you would get ugly halo's and nobody likes that.
About price. Dont know where you leave but here in Finland 20€ price is nearly cheapest TGSP avaible here. Usually TGSP's here costs around 25-50€ depending of phone model so 20€ is more than just normal price for us. So okay maybe its little pricey compared ro your country but on many others it isnt.
This is my first OP device so I know nothing about past issues, but this is by far the best fitting, best sealing TGSP I have ever installed. Typically with screen protectors the edges do not want to seal/stick but the squeegee made quick work of getting all the bubbles out. There are a few pieces of inevitable lint but not one single bubble.
It does cut a tiny bit of the screen off which gives a weird depth to the screens appearance so for that I give it 9/10. If it was totally clear or just had the black at the top and bottom it would be 10/10 for sure.

I just removed the protector to see how the screen looks naked. The "grainy-ness" is gone. I also noticed a potential problem with the protector. The adhesive doesn't go all the way to the top or bottom of the protector, so when I removed it I found a lot of dust stuck to the top and bottom bezel of the phone. This could cause scratches. Even though the scratches would not be on the display, I don't want scratches anywhere on the glass. If I keep this phone I'll try an IQshield.
With the bubbles settling behind, a lot of little dust has been captured.
I also notice grainy-ness. I'm likely going to ditch it and just go naked...
I just got my for 10€. And yes, it still crops a bit from both sides but not like OP3/3T/5. And yes, there is grainy-ness as stated above. You cant notice on black background but on white yes.
I bought the '5T full scratch protection' bundle with my phone. I have an unopened "3D Tempered Glass Screen Protector" and an opened (but unused) "Sandstone Protective Case". My plan was going to be to use the case until Spigen comes out with a 5T case, but I just decided to rock the case that came with my 5T instead.

To be frank I wouldn't have noticed the grainy screen till I read your comment. But now that I've read it.... The screen protector does induce the grainy effect. It's a perfect fit imho, though it definitely does give out that grainy effect. I'm guessing I'll stop noticing it in a couple of days time.
I had an extra IQshield (wet apply) protector for a Pixel 2 XL. I cut a little off the top and it fit fine. I must say, the IQshield is very clear, no grainy screen for me.
I have to put my 2 cents in on this. The official tempered glass is pretty great. I had no issue installing, it stayed in place, zero bubble at all, and feels great. using it with the official sandstone case.
I Just bought these and these are the best for the 5T.

OMG! Yes, I've been thinking the same thing. There were a few xda users that said the Spigen cases were overrated. I'll consider getting the screen guard. Need to see it in person.
I bought the Official Glass Protector. Installation went okay but I managed to get a few small dust specs to catch onto the bottom of the glass so have a few bubbles. Other than that it is perfect. Can't even tell a glass protector is on. Touch response remains the same too.
The original OP 5T case is outstanding, it has a very good grip and looks like carbon fiber material and not to forget the 1+ legendary logo on the back.
does it go above the case or is it pretty even with the stock case? meaning is the screen protector thick
Also got the official tempered glass protector.
Touch response and feel is fine, but both sides have been clipped by the black side bars of the protector, not much, but noticeable especially if watching a zoomed video, on the fastboot screen and unlocked bootloader warning screen (ala OP5).

Cropping is much smaller than what it was with OP3/3T/5.
Yes it's less, just thought mentioning it's still present was relevant.

Whoever wishes to install the glass, do it in your bathroom after having a hot steamy shower. The price of the glass is totally justified iff you are able to install it properly without any single bubble. Otherwise its a waste. I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't installed screen protectors by themselves because you are bound to go wrong either with the alignment or the application/cleaning. Go for a good quality plastic screen protector instead or keep your original screen protector that came with the phone
I bought the official big boss bundle.
The glass protector was great and fitted perfect without any bubbles.
I gave the headphone to my friend as I already had a good pair and the case is a bit useless it's not even raised or anything so does jot protect it at all, I went for the carbon fibre one.

Hi guys,
I've recently got a tempered glass from ultimate shields for review.
Please note this is a full cover tempered glass with full glue in black surround 2.5D edge.
The package came with wet and dry a cloth, a microfiber cloth and dust stickers.
Installation was very easy and minimum bubbles around the edge was only viewable shortly after installing but with a gentle push they dissapeard giving a bubble free installation.
All cutouts are accurate.
Sensitivity is spot on with no issues at all.
There is no dot matrix on this screen protector like some.
Atm I only have the case that came with the 5T and this screen protector gives no issues with this case.
This screen protector seems to be almost the same as the oneplus original but at a lower price around £11.99 at the time of writing this.
If your looking for a screen protector at a much decent price then go over to ultimate shields on eBay and make a purchase.

I think the cutoff is about the same, if not worse
1) Is there glue where the screen is? Or is the glue only on the black edges?
2) Do you see a Halo rainbow effect on the center of the screen from different lighting?

Does it cut the sides as official tempered glass?

Yes it's the exact same with the sides as the oneplus original although I don't have the original protector to compare unfortunately but I believe it's ever so slightly bigger and I noticeable loss of screen .
Apparently they are not able to shorten the black bars as they said bubbles will appear where it hasn't stuck properly near the curve as well as halo affect will accure.

Really curious to the same question as posted above I removed the very expensive official one because of the cut of on the sides.
Parts of subtitels where just missing

From my umderstanding after talking to ultimate shields the black bars are there for a purpose as if any shorter they will show bubbles where contact isn't perfect close the edge.
They will be no revisions for the protector as my review units I received for the Samsung s8+ it was revised at least 4 times but still failed to be perfect.
So for the price it's a good protector with perfect fitment and touch sensitivity. The black bars unfortunately are going no where

It is full screen glue covers the whole protector, and no halo affects there is no dot matrix at all. Viewing is perfect believe me.
Is there a US seller?
