Hi All,
I've just bought a 256GB Mix. loving it but i've noticed a distracting flickering when the screen is at higher brightness settings. It's hard to describe almost like random dips occur in the brightness.
Obviously auto brightness is off and i've disabled as much battery saving things as i can find.
It persists through different ROMS, tried various MIUI roms, RR, and AICP.
Do i have a dud? Any Firmware updates i can try?
Are you on the newest firmware I believe its 7.12.21

Nope, I never did find a solution. I just have the brightness around 90%, it doesn't seem to do it around that. It's plenty bright at that so I'm happy. Considered sending it for RMA but couldn't be bothered with it being a Chinese seller, just thought it would be too stressful..
I'm considering upgrading to a Mix 2s soon anyway..
I have a similar problem on Xiaomi 4A, it looks like this video (iphone right): Youtu.be/Q6CANkiPkUM
Do you have a similar flicker?
Replacement screen for what 80 bucks
Perhaps the problem is not in the screen, but in the power supply pwm - inductor, capacitor
Hello I've redmi note 5 pro i also have same issue past few months but i didn't get any solution. when my phone brightness will high then screen flickering too fast and this issue is too much trouble. So please any one have any solution please let me know.

Hello,
I haven't found yet any thread about this so decided to make one.
Through this thread i'm aiming people who own an OP3.
There are 5 possibles answers :
- No problem, perfect as I wish it was
- No problem, though I thought it would be better
- Software problem, doing some factory reset fixed it
- Software problem that is still here and thinking it's hardware
- Hardware problem so I want to return it asap
By doing this, I hope to see how bad is the manufacturing, or how good it is, because I wonder if this whole 'stop sell' won't affect quality (you know, they have to be fast, some tests were neglected or somehow someway trying to fast up production to handle the orders)
Hope you understand,
Cheers.
NB : Sorry if there are english misspells, not at all native language (third one)
Big thanks to everone who answered ! Wish you a good day

Perfect. Got on release day as well. Now rooted and running custom ROM and kernel. Never going back!
One thing I've noticed is that OP3's vibration is to loud and sometimes a little irritating, anyone has the same problem?
Perfect, ish. After the first week I discovered a slight spec of lint in my rear camera lens. And on grey/dark screens the right side of my screen is slightly lighter shaded than the left.

The build quality is pretty decent, but I will say that a few of us had to deal with screen uniformity issues at first and had to get replacements. This did not turn out to be a permanent issue, but it did put a small damper on my experience.

zero mfg issues here, I do wish they had used a larger battery and better camera, but that's not about quality that's about design.

have to send my OP3 for warranty repair after 2 months even though it was kept in a big case and never dropped. hardware fault
Got my phone this Sunday. I had LG G2 previously. Performance and battery backup wise this phone is comparable to G2. What bugs me is the touch performance. I can't seem to make horizontal swipes work properly. Majority of the time, the phone detects it as vertical swipes.
I then have to scroll down again and very precisely swipe left or right. Anyone else have this issue. Note that the same apps and my swiping methods have worked flawlessly with G2 which I had for more than two years.

Yup even happenes to me... Especially clearing the notifications,...
But it doesn't happen in CM!!!
This is certainy an OS issue, try updating to global beta or, to diagnose the problem, go to developer tools-> show touch information, and if you see some weird shaping lines and not the actual line you drew on the screen, with a little overflow, you might have a hardware problem.
Hope this helps

That is absolutely a relief knowing that it doesn't happen to CM. So It's definitely just an MIUI issue. Thanks for letting us know.

The same problem for me: Mi5 (rom MIUI 8 Italia based on latest china developer).
Horizontal swipes seems too sensitive
I installed cyanogenmod and the touch gestures works Pretty good! Maybe miui 8 calibration has to be patched

it isn't hardware issue: I installed Cyanogenmod rom and with it touch sensibility is ok
I also have some issues while using the official miui global rom. But with both, cm13 and cm14.1 everything works flawless! So you should think about flashing it and seeing if its a hardware issue.

Welcome to the club, I had already a indentical tread like this, same one! To me this touch it's so annoying, because I constantly have to do something on my oneplus x brothers phone and my previously Xperia z5 father's phone, and the touch of then it's so much smoother... If I had knowledge of this issue previously it certainly would have been a deal breaker.. Im waiting for my boot unlocker SMS from Xiaomi... My biggest fear it's that the camera quality be much worst on CM 13, it is??

You are right. Been to CM13, and now back to MIUI 8 because I need the camera quality of MIUI. Well, its just now a matter of preference to me.
I have some problems with touch on my Mi5.
I'am on global developer (official ota) version, and I have sharp lcd on my Mi5.
From time to time, touch is loosing smoothness and look like is ''brooke''/not perform normal.
When this happens, only resete helps.
Right now, 2 days works normal.
Before thet, 10 days was normal, and than problem was there.
Is it any solution, but I want stay with MIUI?
Thanks and best regards.
The touchscreen is not working properly with the Nillkin Tempered Glass applied.
Every time I charge my phone with my Blitzwolf QC 3.0 charger, I have issues with the touchscreen. To resolve this, I need to reboot the phone. After the reboot, the touchscreen response is back to normal.
It looks like the charging changes the way the capacitive touchscreen works. Until I reboot the phone.

It happens the same to me, after charging the touch responsiveness most of the time is very slow and buggy, a reboot is needed. I'm on LineageOS and have tempered glass on, but can't remeber which one.
I'm happy to find that somebody else has this issue since I was thinking it was just on my phone, but this seems to be some kind of different issue then.
I can confirm that Xiaomi Mi 5s 3GB 64GB Golden version with Global 8.0.3.0 MAGMIDI Stable has this issue, the touch screen is not reliable, sometimes we try to swype horizontally and it understands a vertical swype, in other hand, it also happens that you touch the screen at one point and it thinks that you were holding the screen on that pointing, popping out a holding option.
I reported on Xiaomi's official forum, it's good to report there in order to get their attention.

The second issue you're reporting happens to me only with xMIUI xposed module, I activated 'expand notification with one finger swipe downward' and I has that issue too, but I don't have it without that module. Could this be your problem?
Hi guys, I hope you are well, today I come to bring something (I hope it is isolated) about what? yes, to it, what we saw back in the G4 and G4 Plus (also in some G5 and G5 Plus) is there a reason to worry? I do not know honestly, but I wanted to share it with the community, greetings to all!
(It's minimal, I hope you can see it)

Can u elaborate bro? Ok. I checked that. It's really worrying. But there are fix right? Over the net. Is it purely hardware issue? Back to days when I was having nexus 5 i remember my touch was reacting a bit worse when charging. Still useable.

The solution is to use a blue light filter, what it does is hide this problem, but it will still be there, and if, unfortunately, it is a hardware problem, the IPS panels suffer this problem, we only hope that this case will be isolated brother
The burn in is only temporary. Every morning after I wake up the burn in is gone which is good.

New evidencie.
Hi guys. It seems that all Xiaomi phones have the touchscreen sensitivity too high, something like glove mode on?
I had a pocophone which I sold for the exact same issue, and now, the Mi 8 has the same problem. Is there any way to reduce the sensitivity? I causes many typing issues, even a midrange phone from other manufacturers is way better in this regard.
Does the aosp ROMs have anything different in this regard? I am still waiting for bootloader unlock so I cannot flash a custom ROM yet..
Thanks!

I planned to use Mi 9T Pro. As we know, Amoled screen had an issue called "Burn In/Shadow". Should I worry about this?

There's no burn in. While earlier OLED models had some issues regarding burn in, now the majority of flagships and even midrange devices have OLED panels and no burn in occurs.
There isn't too much protection needed to be fair. Even after years of usage you will not encounter any burn in. You mostly see burn in on panels that display the same thing for a very long time, meaning the pixels don't shut down or display other colors (e.g. TVs that run the same channel for a very long time).
There is protection on the Always on display. You'll notice the clock and notifications switch from one place to another every few minutes to avoid displaying the same pixels.
Burn in should be the least of your worries.

When i went to their retail shops i saw that most the 9t models they had on display had visible burn - in marks on the screen, this made me reluctant to buy the phone and i dont know what to think.

Don't worry about burnin unless you do something silly like increasing the display sleep time to half an hour or always keeping it in an unlock state. Use dark mode, 2 min timeout max, will be fine.
For every phone I've owned with an LCD/OLED display, I've experienced none. Yet when I use other people's phones of the same model, they have burn-in.
[Edit]
The only difference between me and others is that I always dim the screen. Never use on high brightness, unless in the sun.
