I really would like to try the new CM12 ROM, but using this device as a daily driver I'd like to be able to go back to the current ROM without too many difficulties. So I was wondering if there is a way to fully backup the device (on PC would be perfect) and by that I mean firmware, installed apps, settings, data, ... all of it; install the CM12 and if something goes wrong flash the backup with everything in it.
Thank you guys.

Do you mean the version available here? does it neet to be this special version or is there a version for G800H in twrp website? thanks.
TWRP is unofficial, no have it in official site! Look in http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5-mini/orig-development/recovery-twrp-2-8-t2924611
Do fully backup and restore whenever you want
P.S: dont use wipe dalvik/cache button after flash anything, will crash your partitions.
Hello everyone! I am sorry if this is somewhere already been told but I could not find it..
I am buying Xiaomi Mi5, sealed box, with some Chinese ROM so I would need to flash some global ROM. As I am told the bootloader is open. What are my next steps?
1. Install TWRP?
2. Then install ROM?
Are there any instructions on how to do that? I have done that on my previous LG but that was long ago so I dont remember any more.
If you could help I would very much appreciate it!

sealed box = bootloader closed
1- Update to latest chinese dev rom, download from miui site and install through updater
2- open bootloader through MIUI tool, search online for it
3- install TWRP through cmd
4- I think you can now install non-miui roms, but personally I just wiped data and installed supersu and used the miui rom
I believe that it comes with open bootloader.
Installation through cmd is the same for any device? Is there any tutorial about it?
I just bought Mi 5 with China ROM (my first Xiaomi device). I was planning to install Global ROM but decided to give the China ROM a go. installed the MIUI v8 update, removed some unwanted Chinese apps, and installed Google stuff. Actually works very well and loving it so far. No issues at all. I recommend you give it a go if you want.
Otherwise I suggest you read these two threads on the official MIUI forums. Should give you the basics and all you need to install the Global ROM.
http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=106428
http://en.miui.com/thread-307744-1-1.html
Thanks man! I will give it a go!

i dont understand why you ask for answer, receive, but not the one you hoped and still saying its open..?
Since 1 year Miui only ships locked bootloaders, so when sealed its 100% locked.
Just try unlock through app/website: http://en.miui.com/unlock/
for tutorials, there are plenty on miui forum site, or here on xda
Good luck

first you need update to last miui version (stable or dev not problem at all) then unlock (bootloader) your device, after that download global fastboot rom, and flash using XiaoMiFlash.
but, before you flash to global. i want tell you 1 thing. this is my opinion,
Global rom is suck! rom base Chinese is great much more better on audio, camera and etc, except the rom only have 2 language chines and english, and you need manualy install gapps.
on my preference MIUI official rom is, China dev -> China Stable -> Global Dev -> Global Stable.
i don't know if this is related, but since we don't have sd card slot we have to leave the internal storage unwiped. And I like to wipe the entire phone when i flash a new rom. So my question is how do you wipe the internal storage and still have the files required to flash rom?

internal storage is not a single partition, the bootloader and recovery are in separate partitions and don't get wiped. What is deleted when you choose to wipe internal storage is only system, data, cache and (emulated) sdcard.

I recieved yesterday mi new MI5 64 Gb, with rom version MIUI 8.1.3.0
I´m trying to instal TWRP on my device but always recive the same error:
FAILED (remote: Partition flashing is not allowed)
and stops working
Is this issue related with the unlock of the mobile?
I applied for the unlock, but I recieved a sms and afterwards a new screen that I will recieve a new sms in some days, How long do I have to wait until they unlock it?
Best Regards

The first SMS with the code should be quick (you already have it, i understand).
The second is in most cases within a few hours, but officially can be up to 10 days.
After you received the SMS with permissions, you can try to unlock, but if that does not work, wait 24 hours (i had to wait a day before the permissions were 'connected' to my Mi account).
Guys, some auto rotate work but mostly it not. Whether, am on custom or stock ROM.
Please help me with this issue.
How to make auto rotate work perfectly?? Or I should go to service centre???
did you ever upgrade to Q rom then downgrade back to pie because this causes this sensor issue. And you have to flash back original miui version to get sensors working again

If you were on pie then flash back to that one and it should fix. Please be careful not to select clean and lock in mi flash settings. Only select clean all.

Yes it was pie but I don't know version. So can I flash q rom.
Am already on miui pie
I think it might not work like that I think you have to flash back to pie first then you can flash to Q. And where did you buy the phone.

I had this exact same issue this week and I fixed it now I'll be happy to help you fix it too.
here's some question and I want them answered fully to expedite the process
what's your rom version number and is it Global, Eu, China?
Are you using orange fox recovery?
don't worry it's easy to fix once you know how =)

Okay, so when you updated to Q and then reverted back to P you messed up the persist.img, it's a part of the phone that regulates many sensor with the proper value.
what we need to do is fix the persist.img, luckily Orange fox will help up in that regard!
So first things first we need to get a replacement persist.img
Start by booting into Orange fox and make a backup of everything except internal storage.
go to https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/raphael/ and get the latest china rom for fastboot (at the time of this writing, it's V10.3.17.0.PFKCNXM )
Once it has finished downloading open it like a zip using 7zip, inside should be a .TAR file, open it again like a zip and inside that unarchived TAR file should be a folder called "image" and within that one, will be a file called "persist.img".
Take the persist file and put it in your phone's storage, in orange fox select the file and options will be presented to you as to where to flash the image file, select of course the persist partition.
after this wipe cache and reboot.
The first boot will have a couple of issues, the phone will need to recalibrate itself, follow the instructions on the screen (open the front camera, clibrate gyro, etc).
After that you should be all set my friend

Allright, first I never mentionned anything about flashing a fastboot rom, so you need to take it easy and follow instructions attentively (don't panic it's all gonna be okay)
Since you relocked your bootloader you just have to unlock it again using the many guides posted on this forum (I will not help you with this since there's already plenty of thread on the subject)
after your bootloader is back to an unlocked state, you re-installed OrangeFox and you flashed the ROM you want follow the procedure I typed to the letter and you'll be fine.
As for how to flash the "persist.img". In the "files" tab in OrangeFox just tap on the "persist.img" file and in the window that opens you will have a chance to select to which partition you wanna flash the file (you need of course to select the "persist" partition)
EDITED : I finally wanted to go back to MI A2 on Havoc OS, I wanted a clean install so I went back to stock and then installed Havoc OS, but since Stock I had some serious wifi issues, I tried differents kernels and different stock/custom roms, i think the convrtion broke it, do you have any tips for this ?
It's hard to connect to the WIFI, and when I'm connected, ii works well for few minutes/seconds and then the connection suddently drops and disappear from wifi settings.
Thank's a lot.

Hello guys,
I actually am on Stock 10 April update, and I'm not able to convert my MI A2 into 6X, I am wondering if I have to downgrade before flashing MIUI 9 or if the problem is me.
I already give it a try by perfectly follow the guide, and bricked my phone, I had to do the test points then, to revive my phone.
Now i'm back again on April update.
So, if tou guys have any idea, of what I've to do.
Thank you.
I've been looking at all the ROMs for the Mi A2 and they all have bugs I gave up installing a rom

Simple, do the same as for every other custom rom. Put your Stock rom on your sdcard and go into recovery(process as usual a full wipe), then install stock rom. You have to install TWRP/Pixel-Recovery again ofc.
Sorted it now . Thanks anyway . I had to delete a few lines of a batch file that was preventing rollback and did it in miflash

Xiaomi has implemented anti rollback to prevent switching to old builds. Recovery ROMs don't have this safety check but fastboot ROMs do have. Bypassing this might brick the device like many Note 5 pro owners bricked their devices by flashing older recovery rom which bypassed the safety check. If they'd have flashed fastboot rom their devices could have been saved.

Different question: Did you like the custom pixel rom? Is it worth to change it or should stick to stock rom? What issues you found there?
It's a good ROM the pixel ROM . Nothing up with it at all . I just felt I'd keep it stock . I didn't encounter any problems with it. Each to there own as they say . You may love it . Plenty of tutorials on YouTube reviewing it on note 10 pro

Yes, fine. ARB index should either be same or greater. Since it was same you're safe. All's fine. But be sure to check that index before doing this.
