Factory reset. That doesn't work then call Samsung. I haven't heard anymore with this issue yet.
Same issue with my Note 8 after Oreo update. This is with T-Mobile network. I just swipe the alert away. I will do a factory reset later to see if it makes a different.
The same here
After the oreo update everything works fine unless the multiple windows on split screen mode. Every time I try to open two apps in multiple windows especially YouTube and chrome together the phone lags till shut down. Unfortunately I've made a hard reset but nothing change.

I've had this exact issue, it happened once or twice can't recall but I thought it was just my phone acting weird, I came straight from nougat via Odin Oreo Flash, so the factory reset wouldn't apply to me so it might be the actual Oreo update since I also have a T-Mobile Note 8
Crashing...
As fast as I open 2 apps simultaneously my phone crashes. It totally freezes and it is very hard to reboot it. The side panel stops to work within 3-4 minutes when I start up my phone. When I'm starting it, it also says that I have changed my SIM card and that I need to reboot again. .
I have an unlocked nordic version with the carrier "Comviq" in Sweden. This is not fun.

Yep.
I'll think I'm going to do that.
Everything started 20 minutes after the Oreo update, I never had any problems before it.

Hello,
My phone is almost a month old now and first two weeks were fine no problem at all. Now last few days it has been randomly rebooting itself when I swipe my lockscreen to open. It never does this when I am using the phone only sometimes when I'm unlocking the screen by swiping or just directly go from notifications etc. This happens like twice a day depending how much I use my phone.
I also feel like it first started to happen when I updated it. To be honest I am not sure what it did update. I also installed bunch of apps which I did delete later.
What should I do next? Factory data reset? Or is there a way to see the "crash report" or something to see whats causing it?
tldr; phone randomly reboots after lockscreen, what to do
Thanks.

After the update if some issues show up is recommended to do a Factory Reset. Start do that.

Agreed. If that does not work, re-flash the phone with a stock FTF to start over. If the problem continues after that, it must be some hardware issue.

I did that and didnt get single reboot yesterday. Too bad I didnt try this earlier. Thanks.
I am having the exact same issue.
Here is that I have done that didnt work.
Reset (vol up/pwr)
reset using red button by sim card
factory data reset
software install using pc companion
However, After each one I set the phone back up how I had it. I had the gmail widget on the lock screen. the phone would reboot at random times right after attempting to unlock. I removed the gmail widget and it hasnt happened since! I sat here locking and unlocking for about 15 minutes and it hasnt rebooted.
IN SHORT TRY TO REMOVE THE WIDGETS BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE
Hope this helps

Hello All,
I received the Lollipop OTA about a week ago and since then my phone has been randomly restarting on its own and then proceeding to perform some sort of process once it starts.
It says something along the lines of "Optimizing Apps 1of 119" and this process takes a while. I have tried clearing the cache but it doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas of whats happening, solutions ?
Thanks,
Pete
I can confirm the problem. Having the same issue where apps are optimized on every power on.
When my nexus 7 updated to 5.0 it did this a few times. Then mysteriously stopped doing it after a week or two.
Whenever Android boots and starts with "Optimizing App # of #" it usually means your ART cache got wiped for whatever reason (corrupted maybe). This is the same effect as if you wiped the caches in TWRP. It takes a long time because ART caches are substantially larger than Dalvik caches.
Try to plug the cable off before turning on the phone. Looks like a serious bug but that helped in my case.
I performed a factory reset last night seems to be much better so far, I will report if the issue starts up again !!
Pete
Which lollipop update did u do, i mean the brazil retail one or the europe one??
Cos i faced this issue a lot in brazil retail update, yet to try europe update....
had the GB OTA update and can attest to the annoying android updating with each phone restart, fortunately I have not had any random rebooting issues as reported by others

But you do have annoying apps update at each restart right??
Yes i have the annoying android updating with each restart
I have experienced these random reboots and I have also noticed that I get an error when taking screenshots where it says that either the storage is full or the app doesn't allow it. I have at least 3gb left and I have tried it across the system and it doesn't work. I am on the retail US version for XT1053
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using Tapatalk
I have also some optimising situations on the restarts. Someone know what can fix or raise this situation?
Sent from my XT1052 using XDA Free mobile app
the android updating stopped, not sure if it was clearing the gallery data (2GB) the helped, or booting it safe mode, anyway boot time is now back to normal
Mine only gets into the process of optimizing apps when it's connected to the power source (PC via usb or directly to the power outlet). I just have to remember to unplug before switching off the phone.
It doesn't restart on its own.
Apart from missing lots of features after the Lollipop update, I also have the optimizing problem, it takes 30min and is extremely annoying, happened 5 times already, one time was a random reboot.
Any idea how to fix it? I do not consider a factory reset a solution. Motorola has spend much time and effort in upgrading while keeping all existing settings and app configs and app data. If I knew I would need a reset I would not have "upgraded" (def would have stayed with 4.4.4 had I known some pratical features are missing, the change log and all tech sites are waay to optimistic about the Lollipop updates!).
same here.

My sister in law had the same experience.. After the 5.1 update on her XT1053 Dev Edition, she kept getting the "optimizing app xx of yy" on reboot... After a factory reset, and setting up from scratch, she is back to working fine.
Friend of mine had the same experience with his XT1053... factory reset and setup from scratch fixed it.
I received the OTA two weeks ago (retail.en.gb), after some days i had a reboot and the optimization of 130apps
So i decided to do a factory reset and install just few application.
Tonight i forgot to put the phone on charge and this morning i had again reboot and optimizaion, just 80 apps bat took 10minutes!
I hope someone found a fix for this annoing issue
worst phone ever, it is very frustrating, should i upgrade to android M ?
Try encrypting then factory reset.
I have a weird problem my note 5 freezes sometimes when I try to unlock it and takes at least 8 to 10 seconds. Whatever taps I make during the time the fone is frozen it remains unresponsive but after a few seconds it responds to all the tap commands but after 10 seconds.
But after that initial problem it is perfectly normal and responsive.
How do I fix this issue and is it due to the aggressive ram management that it takes some time to load the home screen etc.
Wanted to know if anyone is facing this same issue and if there is a solution for it.
Thanks
Note 5 sm-920I model
I am also facing the same problem, it happens to me once or twice a day. I have the SM-920C model
have you set fingerprint as ur screen security ?
i've got this problem too. was happening more when i had PIN lock set up. it hasn't really happened in the last couple days so not sure if a bug or anything...
Same issue here. At first I thought it was due to fingerprint unlock. Changed it to PIN unlock and it still happens. It only happens once or twice per day. Also, I experienced random reboot.
Cleaned the system cache and restarted the fone and everything worked fine for a few days than its back to being unresponsive for a few moments again and sometimes I have to soft reset my fone.
Using the fingerprint lock

Have you tried factory reset yet?
That would be my last resort to use as I have lots of work files and like 20000 photos which are all categorized in folders, time. In backup the categorized stuff gets jumbled. And it's too hectic and long to get it back to the way it was.
FYI I used smartswitch to transfer from note 4 it was n-910c version I think
Okay, my phone is only a few weeks old. I just factory reset it. I'll report how it goes.
Thanks hope this fixes the issue. If it fixes the issue I might have to try to back up and factory reset too. Out of curiosity which region is your phone mine is from Singapore. Note 5 64gb is not available in my region so bought the unlocked one online.
I'm from Singapore. I got the 64gb too.
I got the UAE 32GB Note 5 btw, and i'm also facing this issue. For some reason, I felt it was the S-View cover the culprit here....
I doubt so cause I don't use the S-View cover.
Same issue for me as well. Recently bought note 5 - 64gb and it freeze for few second when i press the home button (fingerprint) . Its irritating especially when you need to use the phone urgently. Wonder what is the problem. Anyone reset factory and its working fine ? From Singapore
Ok this is what worked for me.
1- Turn off your note 5
2- Press the volume up button and home button together
3- while keeping it pressed Press the power button
4-It will open The system screen find cache and clear it- (DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE) once its done choose the restart option
5- I also got a 33 to 40 mb update yesterday. Do not update from the fone use smart switch to update it will download a 1.4gb file meaning it will reinstall the system.
My fone for 2 days now is not freezing. before the problem occurred at least 5 to 6 times a day.
Just in case make a backup although i didn't loose any
data .
Let me know if it works for any of you.
Good to hear. It's my third day since I factory reset and no issues so far. Let's monitor after a few weeks if the problem returns. If it does, it might have something to do with the system cache or something.
What models are you using perhaps it's a particular model?
SM-N920I
Installed a software update version N920IDVU1A0H6/N920IOLC1AOH2/N90IDVU1AOH3 (39mb) and the issue happened again.
I just got my note 5 two days ago and im experiencing the same
Is anyone else getting a random reboot on their Note? I have the unlocked variant. It has rebooted about 4 times since I got it yesterday evening.
Update: Adhell was the issue. Stay away from it for now, guys!

Only had my Unlocked Note8 for 20 hours or so but no reboots yet.
May not be related, but there is an option to have the phone reboot on its own automatically during a certain time.
Is it possible you may have tweaked this option? Again may not apply here but worth a mention...

No, it's been at random times. I'm wondering if Adhell is causing it. I 'think' it started after I downloaded it, but not 100% sure.
Got mine yesterday. After I set everything up it started happening to me as well. Did a factory reset and set everything up a second time and all was well. Took the phone of the charger at 100% and went for a cigarette. When I came back 10 minutes later, the battery was already at 94% and rebooted itself again. I will try again to factory reset and won't use smartswitch this time to see if it helps. I use adhell as well so I will uninstall it first and see what happens.
over a week here, no reboots and I even used helium to restore apps/data

After disabling Adhell I no longer get reboots. Looks like it's the culprit.
I have not had one problem with mine at all. Not one freeze or lag or reboot.

That's causing it because I had the same problem. I removed it and everything good now. Adhell isn't compatible with the Galaxy Note 8 yet.
So I disabled adhell and no more random reboots. Great find @lUnorthodoxFoxl !
I am having the same reboot issue, after adhell 2 install, just removed it, lets see if that clears up the issue. Really need a good working ad blocker!!

I had Disconnect Pro on mine for less than 8 hours and had tons of network hang and restarted/rebooted at least 5 times, just removed it so I hope things go back to normal- embarrassing standing in the store and having to wait for your phone to finish restarting to pay for your groceries...
I have had a couple of complete system freezes that has caused the phone to reboot. But they are very rare. I put it down to an app issue rather than the phone.
--
I have not had one freeze or reboot and I have had this phone since the 7th of September. After I had to turn in my Note7 I got the V20. The V20 was terrible I couldn't wait for the new Note to come out. That thing would just loose signal but I think that was crapy Tmoblie. But the V20 Froze all the time and rebooted. The only good thing about the V20 was it had 3.0 QC and it was twice as fast at charging as the Note8 and the speakers were a little better. The Note8 is far superior to the V20. I am going to go out on a limb here and say it's going to be better than the V30 too.
Never once did I get a reboot or freeze up.
We have 2 notes and one is freezing and rebooting atleast twice a day in random apps, no Adhell installed. I will try a factory reset and hopefully that takes care of the issue
hello guys
I have an issue on my S10 and thats just rebooting randomly, even sometimes when im not using it and its standby on the desk.
i search about it and saw someone elese have same problem, so i want to know what is the problem and how to fix it.

i just change my android version to 10 and its not fixed..
i tried home csc and csc files and even tried pit files too..
please hellllp
thanks
Did you try a data factory reset? It might be a hardware issue, I would take it to a local repair shop or contact Samsung on it.

get the factory firmware from sammobile.com and flash it in Odin. be sure to factory reset from within the settings first or the FRP might crop up. This is the nuclear bomb method that 99% of the time fixes any glitches caused by software. You might have a hardware issue, but this will help rule that out

I had this issue with rooted Android 9, too. But it it very strange you get this problem on Android 10 because the kernel panic problem is fixed there. When you are not rooted, you should not have this problem anyway. Try restore your software in Odin like the other users already suggested.

Please let me know if this has worked for you. I'm having a similar problem that only started when i updated to android 10.
I have a totally stock, Verizon S10. Never had a problem with it on 9. After updating i started noticing after about 8-12 hours phone starts getting very sluggish, gets hot, has trouble even doing processor intensive things like opening camera and taking a picture without it crashing back to the OneUI launcher. Launcher would show up blank and take 5-10 seconds to restore my icons and widgets. Lock Screen lags really bad and face rec hardly works if at all. Phone gets really hot and if i look at the CPUs (Antutu BM) they are usually all maxed out.
A reboot fixes everything and then it will be fine again for another 8-12 hours and then, like clockwork, it starts up again. I've done a factory reset with data restore. Didnt fix it. Did another one without data restore and it is still happening. Would an Odin flash be different than a factory reset from the settings menu?

I think I may be onto something. Do you have any battery monitoring apps? I had Accubattery, better battery stats, and gsam battery monitor installed. Gsam and BBS had battery_stats permissions granted via adb. I was beginning to wonder if they were causing some kind of memory drain so I wiped their data and uninstalled them. Immediately after that I rebooted and after 46 hours of uptime there was absolutely no problem. Phone flies and runs cool as ice.
I'm currently installing them one at a time and waiting 48 hours after each install to see if and when the problem comes back.
---------- Post added at 12:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 PM ----------
And I'd just like to add that when my phone starts acting up it gets worse and worse to the point it won't even unlock and go to the home screen. Then it will actually reboot itself. I assume it panicked because it just doesn't have enough ram to complete any tasks.
so maybe its about the battery for you? btw my problem still alive
Guys, I got the same problem, did you guys find a way to fix it? Just realised today that even the system data, i.e fingerprints have been corrupted, what exactly is happening and how to fix this, it has been driving me crazy for the past couple of months.
