Safetynet Fail Magisk and xposed installed - Xposed General

I'm on android 8.1 with magisk v16 and safety net passes but I installed xposed SDK 27 and works but fails safetynet

Oooooh... You better duck dude! There's gonna be a whole barrage of posts, some more aggressive than others, that you should have searched on that very often asked and answered question.
Xposed = not passing SafetyNet
No way around it...

LOL @Nitro1010. ???
Too tired to throw pots and pans your way. That is probably the most known thing, probably covering hundreds of posts going way back.
Plead for mercy now. ?

Uhm, so do I have to uninstall Xposed to login to Snapchat and then reinstall Xposed after?

That's one of the methods, yes.
In my case, for years, all I did was restore Snapchat (or just data) from backup. Several devices and lots of ROMs since 2014 and I never had any issues on rooted and Xposed ROMs. It's been so long that I don't even know what my login is. Never had to log in in all that time.
That all changed this past summer when Snap logged me out of all of my installations. I just stopped using the app at that point since I can't login. Anyway, I don't know if Snapchat login issues are related to Xposed or root in general. Uninstall or disable Xposed and try to log in. If login is good I'd say back it up just in case. Reinstall Xposed and see if login holds. If so, you're good. Whenever you flash a new ROM just be sure to install and setup Snapchat first before installing Xposed.

Magisk with CM13 and Xposed

Hello guys. I'm tempted to install Magisk on my Zenfone 2 ZE551ML. I have the latest CM13 Nightly + Xposed and I want to ask if Magisk has any problem running alongside these two.
Another question is if I can still use the built in CM13 root.
Thanks for your answers!
Im running on CM 13 (ZenFone 2 Laser ZOOL) stable and it works fine.
The only problem is that with xposed active the safetynet check don't pass. But its just a matter of disabling xposed and rebooting when necessary.
I dont know if the differences are too significant, but hope it helps.

That means Magisk doesn't work with Xposed ? Or I just have to unninstall Xposed and then install again after installing Magisk ?

Magisk itself works perfectly with Xposed installed, only Magisk Hide that doesn't hide Xposed.
So if you don't plan on using any app that checks Safety Net (Pokemon Go, Android Pay, for example) You won't have any problem.

and what about the built in CM13 root ?
I think the newest Magisk auto removes it when you flash it.
But I had manually removed before installing magisk on mine.
But in any case, if I remember correctly you can just remove it thru the SuperSU app before flashing Magisk.

Snapchat has stopped working even after using titanium backup

I usually use snapchat version 9.39.5.0 which works with snapprefs version 2.1.0. The other day, i experienced an error that says "unfortunately snapchat has stopped" whenever i opened the app. And later found the solution to it was to install the latest version of snap from app store, use it for some while, back it up using titanium backup, clear its data, uninstall it..and then install the version of snapchat that work with snapreffs, and open titanium backup, and restore data only form the backup i made from their latest version. That worked very well...But after some a month, the same problem of snapchat stopping to work persisted again.. I used the same method i used with titanium backup, but this time it isnt working anymore. Can anyone pls tell me any more solutions, or the actual cause?
Android: marshamallow 6.0
I have those versions of the apps on Nougat and they work well. Snapchat always installed from backups.
There was some tips in the Snapprefs thread that have worked for me.
In Snapprefs I unchecked the options to integrate with SC and the other that says to restart SC on preference change. Then go to the filters and let them load/download. Scrolling up to make sure they all come in. Then reboot.
Snapchat should then work okay.
Maybe clear cache (not data) of Snapchat beforehand as it accumulates a lot of stuff and may contribute to bad behavior.
Sometimes there are server-side issues that cause SC to not work. That happened recently and a lot of folks thought it was end of days for this old version.

I even flashed my phone and tried to install that old version of snap which works with snapprefs v 2.1.0, but it kept saying it has stopped working..even without root or a tweak, and later, i tried to just root my phone without installing snapprefs...and use titanium backup to backup and restore the app's data only, but it kept giving the same error...could this be the end of this old version?
I hope not but it looks like our days are numbered.
There is another utility out there called SnapTools that does some of what Snapprefs does. Haven't tried it yet. I think it's a pay product.

I know it, but i hate the fact that you have to pay for it, and it contains less features..thats why i still prefer snapprefs...is there ant way i can get this old version of snap to work again?

Xposed vs systemless xposed?

I do not use androidPay or banking apps on my phone because I think it is unwise to do anything financial on a mobile device.
My current ROM is lineageos 14.1 which updates fine with Xposed framework installed. So I don't have to deal with stock ota updates.
For someone like me, on a custom rom, that does not use androidPay or banking apps on a phone, is there any advantage to switching from regular Xposed to systemless xposed?

If you don't care very much about system/less installation of zips because you're on a custom rom, maybe the only advantage is that systemless xposed is easier to remove if you end up in a bootloop or if you have other kind of problems.
Also, disabling magisk will disable xposed (again, in case of problems).
So, I think the main benefit is this. I tested when I was on Oreo (now I'm on P beta) and yes, in case of bootloop or crashes, disabling xposed modules or systemless xposed in magisk is like a life saver sometimes.

Personally I don't"t think it matters. I am using s8 stock noughat 7.0 rom using rovo"s xposed ver 89 and magisk 16.4 with no issues.
From my understanding reading the op for systemless xposed it's basically Rovo"s version ported to be installed through magisk. So what ever problems you have with one version you would have with the other (app wise that is).
Either version does not pass safety net and can effect play store certification.
I am currently running about 10 exposed apps + about 13 root apps at the moment.
At the end of the day I think it would be a personal choice as to which you choose to use.

Do you think what a wired desktop is more secure than your android/IOS device nowdays? ALL the OSs have their own compromises and malware, specially desktop OSs.

Most modules are not upgraded since year 2013 ? Is it safe to use same ?

Most modules are not upgraded since ages ?
Yet the thread is posted as latest 2018 best modules ?
Tried all and mobile wont boot now.. lol..
I have results of latest modules displayed on the post, but not yet upgraded since ages.
Except greenfly or few.. Though listed..
Are these modules still safe to use with latest technology ?
Thanks,
Request reply from advanced person and request to pin after my reply.
I still love XDA but a question.
Noone on XDA team to reply same ?
ITs weird.. ?
Made other replies in respective topics..
But that is xposed and still xposed ?
UHHH..
It really depends on what Android version are you using.
Sometimes even if the modules are really old they still works.
You can try install them one by one, so if you end up in a bootloop you know exactly what module caused it.
In case of bootloop if you're using Xposed systemless just uninstall xposed module from recovey (with uninmod or magisk mm) and delete the xposed apps once it boots with xposed disabled
If you're using system version of xposed, browse from twrp to the modules folder and delete the module by hand
Or just search on xda, there are threads where people post which module works on each version of Android

I
Safe?? In general, yes. Module specific - no different than the day module was born.
Stability is a completely different animal with numerous variables in play using "latest technology". Do your homework; seek community input on modules in question. Know how to recover from module failures and bootloops. Maybe consider a backup; I heard they're a good idea.

Sort of misleading if he was thinking of official Xposed for Pie, which doesn't exist. But since he didn't specify...
Yeah, EdXposed seems to be working well for folks it seems.

I have seen more people talk about "official Xposed" and each time I am wondering what is official about just a hobby project (told so by rovo89 himself) and what is less official about EdXposed.
EdXposed is actively developed, Xposed is not. EdXposed is open source, "recent" versions of Xposed are not. EdXposed works on Android Pie and Q, Xposed does not. EdXposed passes Safetynet, Xposed does not. If I take this as a measure, EdXposed is by far superior over Xposed and qualifies therefore more as "official" (not that I want to call it official, that is not the point).
Some people say that EdXposed is a fork or clone of Xposed, which is incorrect because EdXposed is an original, new work. EdXposed also works differently compared to Xposed.
So, if you had respect for Xposed (you should have had!), you should have respect for EdXposed too and not call it directly or indirectly "unofficial".
Just my 2 cents.
Note that this is a general remark, so not really a reply to the replied comment (this sounds awkward, but I hope it is clear want I mean).
Thanks Marcel for the clear explanation. It is very helpful to me. As the person who asked the question I just used the same term as the previous person, understanding what he meant by it.
I have used Xposed for a long time along with several of its modules (gravitybox, Xprivacylua, etc.) and it became comfortable to me. If unavailable for pie I have no problem using Edxposed when I finally root my new phone. It's a Moto G7, brand new, and I'm waiting for the rooting and unrooting procedures to become more certain, and twrp and lineageos to become available. Until then Im forced to use an unrooted phone with much less control than I'm used to.
Without Titanium Backup I can't even back up my app data! Avoiding Google where I can.
Thanks again Marcel.
