We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the Xiaomi Mi Max 3's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add.
Not so good, my first day out of the house with the phone and it dropped T-Mobile service twice while I was on a call.

If you like you can use Network Signal Guru and measure and take screenshots and post here to give some actual data if its good or bad.
Which bands are used when and how long and when a call cuts out.
And when its very good to give a comparison when the phone performs very well and when not so good.
However Network Signal Guru requires root permissions
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qtrun.QuickTest
Some alternative apps are
CellMapper
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cellmapper.net.cellmapper
Network Cell Info Lite
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite
SignalCheck Pro
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blueline.signalcheck
I don't have root yet however I do have the so called global firmware. Maybe that's the source if it is indeed a fake ROM.
So I just noticed something. When I make/receive a call I immediately drop LTE. Once the call ends it's restored. I have to assume the phone is not capable of voice over LTE or I need to find a toggle.

that is normal....all phones switch to 3g when on call (even U.S carrier phones)...unless doing VOLTE...then mobile data unvailable during call ...Samsung S8 does it on Verizon (so does Iphone 7)

I know as I stated in the original post the phone must not be compatible with Volte as there is no toggle. Additionally it's dropping to edge instead of 3G whenever I receive a call

anyone having issues with simply making calls, sending sms and accessing the internet? anything in the *#*#64663*#* phone service mode - phone seems to want to always sit in TD-SCDMA/LTE mode instead of LTE/UMTS mode. Always reverts to it. Not sure if that is the issue. HORRIBLE experience with this device so far. Right off the bat when I got it, it was doing sms sending (forever in sending mode until failed or sms would come in after like 15-20 mins and only after a reboot) Incoming sms no issues. Message center is ok. Then data was an issue. Switching SIM seemed to fix one first call then the 2nd call would just sit in dialing mode forever and ultimately hang up. Garbage device (so far) unless it is some simple fix. This is on ATT.
EDIT finally managed to fix the issues
fastboot mode
erase cacne this went through
erase data did not work
then did factory reset through the recovery mode
booted it up
inserted sim...everything works now (for the first time)
bootloader was unlocked by the vendor/someone upstream prior to shipping
very fast...even on 4g
lte comes on selectively so far only seen band 5 (no band 4)
EDIT2
So while mui is pretty slick and the phone is easy to use, fast, great on battery it still suffers from a Xiaomi-related bug (will call it that) in call-forwarding. You cannot set call forwarding (of if previously set - when the sim is in another device, of course), the call forwarding cannot be disabled (SIM error) This has been an issue for years - yes like since 2014-15...since the user base is mostly overseas, you can see complaints but no real resolution (useless feedback from thread owners etc who talk about contacting the operator, removing sim card etc) This does not exist on Huawei, Oppo etc phones (having used them) Even some miui ports suffer from this on other devices (so it seems very likely an MIUI issue) I have an old Samsung Mega that has the same issue on a ported MIUI for it. The Mi Mix I had a few months back had the same issue. No one ever fixes this.

Thanks bro and Im happy that the problem is solved for you.

No...I think there was no issue. I was doing something wrong in selecting bands that don't exist here through the service menu-so am all confused apologize for posting off and on and then posting a 'solution' for something that probably never existed. I see my post was quoted-hopefully it does not mislead and start a plethora of unnecessary questions-you may want to edit what you quoted from my initial post-just a suggestion thanks

Everything is fine except Calls. I've been told my phone rings once then goes to voicemail and occasionally I will connect to another party but we can't hear each other. Phone calls work less than 2 out of 5 times. Text is flawless, data works great with the exception of slow handover when switching from wifi to LTE.

Yeah if it's not fixed I'll have have my calls forwarded to Google voice number and do VoIP calls.

Hey I fixed it. Found a post on a thread that will enable VoLTE on Xiaomi Phones. Apparently they disabled VoLTE starting with MiUi 9 due to lack of certifications in certain countries, the US being one of them. To activate it dial *#*#86583#*#*
Band 4?

Are you getting Band 4 LTE on Tmobile? Also, how about 3G/HSPA? I believe it supports Band 2 for those, right?
Band 4 LTE is rock solid everywhere however I cannot connect to 3G anywhere. That's why I had issues with calls before I activated VoLTE. I'm not sure if it's the phones band capability or something else but even forcing 3G nets me 2G edge. Thankfully I don't need it.

I thinking about buying D4 as my prime phone. I already find out that It supports GSM and how to unlock this feature. But is it worth to buy this phone to work on GSM? I noticed that there are many issues with it:
- not working callout on 3G on Android 2.3
- Verizon lockscreen that wants to activate phone
- problems with APNs
etc.

Yes! It's definately worth it!
The 3g callout problem is a temporarily thing, I'm sure of it. We're still playing with settings and drivers to fix that. In the mean time I use my phone on 2g for voice and 3g for iinternet. With one press of a button I can switch between 2g and 3g (There's an app for that )
The verizon lock screen pops up only once. Once you skip it, it doesn't return until you reset your phone to factory defaults.
Problems with apn's? Depends on your provider. I didn't have any problems at all.My apn settings were transferred automatically to my D4 when my provider detected that I was using a new phone. Even after installing different roms.
I'm using my D4 a couple of weeks and everything still works like a charm.

Mainly I work on 2G because of battery saving (it last for much longer!). But bug with callout has been patch in leaked ICS and what I heard it don't have Verizon stuff installed. I can't wait that some CFW ICS would use its libraries and kernel.
Unfortunately for now I can't afford on buying it because last 10 days jump over 10% according to my currency so it, when previously it had very good price then now it isn't.
I love it. I'm in Canada on Bell Mobility and everything works perfectly on Gingerbread, including outgoing calls on 3G. I think the voice issue is only affecting those within the USA on other carriers such as AT&T.

Also, I wanted to use this phone on AT&T in the US. I just have voice and texting. Will this phone work for me?

Hi there,
did you have the chance of direct comparison to the Droid 3's signal quality, 3g speeds and call quality? I may consider importing it, but still not sure.
THANKS
It seems to work just as well as my Droid 3 did. The only issue I have is that the Droid 4 seems to underreport the signal it is receiving in the status indicator, the highest signal I've been able to see is 3/5 bars but it still seems to perform as if it were at 5/5.
I'm sure it is just tampering by Verizon and doesn't hinder the device's operation at all. I haven't tried any of the AOKP ROMs yet but will report back once I get a chance to install one.
Thanks for the reply!
Thats interesting, it's like the Droid 3 cheating on us that the GSM Signal would be very poor. Would you please have a look in the build.prop if there is a value ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone and set it to 0? Then prove if the signal gets better?
News about Droid 4 GSM unlocking this summer:
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/05/2...er/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Interestingly enough, in the ICS build just leaked that has global support enabled by default, that value is set to 0 in the build.prop.
I am in the US and a VZW user, so I can't test the GSM radio performance on the D4 because they have disabled it for US carriers via another band lock or other mechanism.
I have been dumping and comparing the NVM of the various builds to try and isolate any critical differences to find the key. It may not, in fact, be in the NVM at all, but elsewhere in the radio image.
Just an FYI.

There is difference in voice codec (on 3G you should get better quality, but it also depends on the second side). Also at 3G you can use front cam for video conferences.

Yeah, the first thing I did once I could was look at the build.prop settings but I noticed that ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone is already set to 0, with a note in the comments above it that "the definition moved to cdma_maserati.mk to support different config for factory", which suggests that maybe their tampering is a little more hard-coded into the Blur interface.
So sorry if this was common knowledge but I haven't seen anything on this yet so I thought I'd share. I decided to try setting up AT&T's number sync between my new mate 10 pro and my LG Sport and it worked. What makes that amazing is this is the first non att branded phone I have ever been able to set up directly between the phone and a att smartwatch that didn't require me using a att branded smartphone in the middle. You can't find the ability to do it through the my att app or website but if you initiate through the watch, it will open the browser on your phone and then give you a number sync code, once you log in through the browser, you put in the code and then accept terms and it will successfully link. This phone also seems to work well with the LG Sport. Battery life is waaay better then when it's paired to my Att Note 8.
FYI, Att number sync allows multiple devices to receive a phone call or text message from the main line they are tied to. That way every thing is seen from one number. One of the requirements is that the phone must be Att branded.
So that tells me between this and VoLTE working on att with this phone, this phone was all but ready for att network and only thing missing was the att branding on the phone before att backed out.
Sorry if long l, just wanted to share to maybe help other att users.
Have you been able to get/verify that VoLTE is working on your mate 10 Pro? If yes, how did you verify it works? I have a Dual Sim 10 Pro rebranded to the US 10 Pro (did at Best Buy) with the Enhanced Voice and VoLTE options enabled. Thanks.

I didn't use the default apn that sets up when I had my att sim inserted. I used the settings from att's support page: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1218306
If I remember, there were a few subtle differences. Honestly, I didn't notice if VoLTE was working before the new apn settings but I see that it works for sure with the new apn settings. My status doesn't change from LTE whether on call and/or browsing.

No problem. I was thinking, you said you rebranded to us but I wonder if by a slim chance there is some hardware difference that is dectected? Like maybe a certain band att uses. I haven't looked at the differenceces in bands between models.

Cellular bands are the same as US version; when not in a call I connect to LTE+. I can achieve cellular download speeds of 98 Mbps. Main difference between US version and mine is my phone is dual SIM Mate 10 Pro. The second SIM connects to 4G when I make a call. If I use only 1 SIM, connection drops to HSPA+. I see an option to enable VoLTE on the second SIM, but it's disabled. Have you to find a way to enable it. I appreciate your feedback, thanks again.

Has anyone succesfully gotten their Pixel 5 to work with WiFi Calling on mint? It seems like I can but after a while it won't work. If I make an outgoing call on wifi calling, it will attempt for about a second and then hang up. Even after turning wifi calling off I have to reboot before it'll use the cellular network for the call instead. If I turn it on again, it seems to work for a little while, but only a little while. It's really frustrating.

I read about a problem like this on facebook that a guy was having, he'd have to reboot to get calling to work and he'd miss some incoming calls.
I bought my wife a Pixel 5, it's too small for me and I even tried turning off WiFi Calling completely but occasionally it won't call out until she reboots it.
I have to think that this must be a software issue. I'm going to try disabling WiFI calling in Mint's settings too.
I did notice that if you put a Pixel 5 imei number in the phone compatibility checker, it says it doesn't support all features.
I found a page on the Pixel 4a 5G which said that they aren't selling the Pixel 5 but are working with google to fully support it.
Can any other T-mobile users weigh in? Is this a problem your experiencing or is it strictly a Mint Mobile issue?
Thanks

The turning off and back on occasionally is a little odd because of a problem I had on my previous phone, a Galaxy S10. At the time I was also on a AT&T/T-Mobile MVNO (Consumer Cellular) and I had to turn it off occasionally before it would call out and wifi calling would come and go. The only thing was, it was on Android 10, but it had the exact same problem and by coincidence both our phones were on MVNO's with the same parent networks. After I got the Pixel, I couldn't get wifi calling no matter what Consumer Cellular did, but this past weekend I switched to Verizon and everything is OK now.

Hmm, that's disappointing. It's really the only complaint I have though. I'll take $15/month over $50+ anyday if all I lose is wifi calling.
I'll be switching over to Mint shortly, hopefully it works well otherwise!! (I've been using Straight Talk for years)
Hey so I've had my Rog phone 3 for over 3 months now, updated to A12. A constant problem has been the mobile network. Works fine for WhatsApp, but for normal browser (different browsers), other apps requiring internet, though the mobile data is on, it acts like it's offline, showing offline. I have to toggle on and off airplane mode for it to eventually work. Then if I turn off mobile data and turn back on, the cycle repeats. Please help
I'm having the same issue here too. The A12 Beta had choppy Network Connectivity that would just crumple my phone and not allow me to use Communications or Data, the random disconnects were absolutely infuriating, and after updating to the stable build, it was just not allowing Mobile Communication at all. (No Incoming or Outgoing calls)
I'm extremely happy about the downgrade FW however to allow me to revert to A11 that at least allows my phone to function as intended, even if I cannot enjoy the update that A12 has to offer.
Downgrading from A12 to A11 is an Upgrade. A12 has little to offer beyond making your OS look like a kindergarten app ...
Upgraded to A12 last night with the OTA. Data is fine but I cannot make calls, network immediately drops. no other issues with the phone though, 4g data works.5g never worked but volte did (At&t network) VoLte doesn't show up and I cannot find a place to enable it however there is a toggle for it in notifications. I spent about 3 hours at AT&T. So. here is info if it helps anyone. They told me that the phone is somehow locked to 3g calling even though the sim card shows LTE voice. After the update only calls dont work. The guy said he helped me before by provisioning an older sim card and using VoLte, however from what i understand The phone Does support more than 3g voice but if someone can correct me that would be cool. Also I found out if I put a sim card from an ATT iPhone it will connect at 5g (20mbps speed tested). I said well if I lose voice and have to figure out a wifi calling plan I would rather do it with 5G, however when they provisioned a 5G sim for me on my account it wont link above 4g+ (1-3mbps) same tower. So im at a loss. I know part of it is the new android 12 update, I know some of it is the stupid account provisioning and i know some is the phone. I DO NOT know what is what so any help would be awesome. If there is some way to add VoLte back to the phone in android 12, flash a new radio or something... but if someone can shed some light onto what is really happening so I know where I can press that would be slick. if the phone does communicate through something other than 3g voice then I can push back on At&t but i have kept this "less" a development platform and more a daily driver. I guess that has to now change LOL!

Any developments on this? I am having the same issue.
Mine seems to lose connectivity after returning from do not disturb or when I'm inside with no signal for a while. I have to toggle airplane mode for sec, then I can use the phone. My wife texts me a few times a week, "It's going straight to voicemail again.", then I toggle it and call her. It will work fine for the rest of the day. Doesn't happen every time, though. Bizarre, though most of the time it's in the morning after returning from do not disturb mode. Kind of a hassle, but I'm coping. I'm going to start logging when it happens to see if any settings may be causing this.
So One thing I discovered on this new phone of mine is that although working perfectly there is a major flaw in the way Internet data works during a phone call.
Any time you make a call, the phone downgrades the active signal from 5G/4G to H or E ( GSM).
Which in turns cuts off the data.
If I force 5G or 4G, then the phone call cannot be made. It just disconnects.
I have tried all settings, Volte enable/disable with no joy.
Some have said it's a carrier limitation, but it's not, cause in my iPhone, the very same simcard works just fine and the Internet is usable during a call.
Also tried with dual Simcard setup. As in the settings, the phone allows to use one simcard for data and one for call. Still not working.
Can someone please tell me if there is a solution please, or can you try your phone while on the call to see if Internet works as this feature is detrimental to me keeping the phone. If this doesn't work I will be selling the phone and getting a realme replacement.. Xiaomis sometimes suck with their non existent support.
Thanks

This comes from the operator who has not yet communicated with Xiaomi.
Same case with 2 operators on the same phone.
What version of rom?

Global ROM 13.0.4
I can't see an operator fault if they have Volte services enabled and this simcard works flawlessly on other android systems.
As a matter of fact, any SimCard i have tried, so far 3 providers and the phone does the same thing. As soonest the call is made it downgrades the signal to H while full 5G or 4G is available??

the operator must provide the necessary information for each brand and phone to activate Volte and Wowifi.
On my 11t pro everything works with SFR and nothing with FREE because Free has not yet transmitted the information necessary to activate the services.
So went to see the operator. They sell Xiaomi phones. 3 network ( Three EU)
The phones in the stores are working just fine, no issues at all. And my phone simply just isnt.I have tried every possible setting and still not working.
See the screenshot below. As I'm typing this I'm on a super fast full signal 5G connection. As soon as I make a phone call, the phone will downgrade to E or H+ which is horrible. This network signal switching is also laggy, and If 2g signal is poor I cannot even make a call.

Does the "Use VoLTE" switch appear in the SIM card settings?
If not you can try the Dialer Code *#*#869434#*#*. That only will make this switch appear, but sometimes this is enough. It should also show the little VoLTE-Badge next to the signal strength (see screenshot).

I just had another look and on your 1st post it says the SIM is named "3 IRL", as far as I know Three Ireland does not offer VoLTE at all.
So it will always drop to 3G/H+ or 2G/E ... on every phone.

5G connection should support this naturally. If I put this simcard Into an iPhone or Galaxy the 5G connection stays on regardless.
Anyway even with Vodafone this doesn't work,so I'm thinking it either a phone limitation or a phone is fooked

No, for VoNR your phone still needs the same configs as with VoLTE. Though only a few operators support VoNR as of now.
