Rattle in Stylus - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Does anybody else's S Pen rattle when you shake it? I'm comparing the new pen to the old pen and noticed it rattles when I shake it or spin it in my fingers.

Yes, the clicker rattles more so it doesn't break as easily for the folks that are OCD. By keep the angled mechanism loser, the ridges won't degrade as quickly when the clicker is constantly being activated.

No rattles.

Yes from day one. @Jammol educated me.

my S-pen bt button slightly rattles too when I tap it.

Yep a little rattly

Yeah. The "pen cap" rattles a bit. And my side button doesn't rattle, but it certainly can wiggle back and forth. Not sure if it has more wiggle room than the Note 8 side button, or if it's just more obvious because of the lighter color of the SPen itself.

Just checked. My blue Note 8 SPen rattles worse than my yellow Note 9 SPen. And it has the same wiggle room in the side button.

[Q] Another HTC One deathgrip

Well I first want to say that this phone is Ff&%#$g awesome and is (personal opinion) much better than the SGS4
Though there is a slight problem with it. My phone seems to have some sort of wi-fi deathgrip. When putting my finger on the top area, mostly on the top right corner, of the phone were the power button and earphone jack is my wifi instantely drops to the little dot in the center and i pretty much loose all connection. this doesn't affect me to much as i don't hold the phone by the top BUT when playing online games such as Modern Combat 4 I literally have to hold my phone is some weird fashion as to not touch the top at all
Am I the only one with this problem or are any others experiencing it?
I noticed this same thing exactly as you describe today. Kinda sucks but I don't game much anyway.

Looks like your wifi antenna is somehow coming in contact with the aluminium body internally. That might be a reason

You sure? Touch it on the right side. Are you in a low signal area? I get like 1 bar for wifi normally and sometimes zero. If I touch the grill it goes up to 3. Idk, doesn't bother me, the WiFi in this house needs an overhaul anyway.

touch sensitivity with gloves

this make no sense, note 4 had it and note 8 doesnt,im from nyc,and its cold im on gloves and this feature didnt need to be taken out
1000 usd phone and doesn't have that feature.smh
can a op and developer make a zip or some way to get it on the note 8?
different type of touch sensor. note4 was pressure sensitive i believe(i COULD be wrong here). N8 isnt.
The note 8 is capacitive not resistive. And I would certainly hope so for $1000
Just buy gloves with screen touch fingertips

So if note 8 isn't pressure sensitive then how does the press harder on home onscreen button work ?
I was under the impression that it was pressure sensitive.

There is a pressure sensor only where the home button used to be. Not the entire screen. The touch tech is still capacitive.

You know this phone has its own pen right... And im surprised people are unaware of why capacitive is better than resistive. I would be pissed if i bought this device and it had antiquated tech such as a resistive touch screen. If you dont understand why its antiquated, then google it.

Exactly, I was using mine with the little touch sensitive gloves a week or so ago. The setting is gone, because I think it just picks them up automatically. But you have to use the specific gloves (I am not sure honestly what makes them different).

What exactly is hard to understand about capacitive technology? It has nothing to do with pressure. Therefore there is no function to enable. I am surprised that anybody nowadays would buy a flagship and think they even still use resistive. If you didnt understand the tech you where buying, thats your own problem. You cant fault Samsung.

Yeah the folks that think the screen is resistive are talking out the side of their necks.
The pressure sensitivity of the home button is localized to that location. If you don't believe it check the diagnostic test screen, it has a pressure test and the only part of the screen where it registers is the home button.
The only other pressure is from the pen to the Wacom digitizer..

Well, I think that the OP is talking about a feature that past galaxy notes had, there was a setting to increase screen sensitivity for very cold or wet situations, but now, I think that the tech evolved in a way that such setting is unnecesary now
I think the reason why they removed it is not perfect. You know samsung... If they can't perfect it then they just remove it. The feature is a part of the floating touch technology of capacitive touch screens. But the problem is it fails most of the time when used.

Dust in wide angle camera lens

I just noticed there is a lot of dust particles in the wide angle camera lens. It was not there before and this much dust is accumulated inside just in 5 days of usage. The main camera unit is dust free though.
Please share if anyone is having same issue. Other wise its a device specific issue.
No dust here
Yes even I have this issue with my device. Within 5-6 days of usage there is dust in the wide angle camera lens. Main camera is clean but there is lots of dust in the wide angle lens.

I got water vapour in my lens both
It was my mistake as well, i had kept my phone in my rain jacket pocket and it was raining a lot. Although the phone was under zipper pocket the condensation of water vapour is visible under the lens. I know this phone is not water proof however Asus could have done a better job at least to seal the camera lens.

so would it be ok to just put a tape on the vent? it's not that useful anyway right?
im guessing it's the main reason why dust goes into the phone.

I just taped the vent the day I received the phone because the vent doesn't do much cooling at all. Been using it all day for past 9 days, travelling outside in a very dusty City and not even a particle of dust visible anywhere.

Just used transparent tape. A rectangular piece in the right size such that the Aero case which they've given exactly covers both of the sides of the tape. Basically unnoticeable.

My phone went through a tough time because of rain. The power button was misbehaving, I guess there was some moisture in there as well. I thought that it was the end for my ROG phone just after 7 days of purchase. However in after 3 dry days, everything is normal once again. I guess I was lucky. The condensation has gone away completely. I do not have any spec pf dust in my camera under the glass. The power button is working good once again :good:

I just received the replacement. If this also acquires dust i will update the post after a few days of use ( i also have taped the orange accented back opening just to be safe ). As for the red tint, its still there but much less as compared to my previous device, so this confirms this is a panel behavior, which means if you are planning to replace the device it might be good or bad ie the new device might have less tint or more tint.

I doubt it's panel behaviour. Since I did more test and for me i suspect it's software behaviour, because white theme gives 0 red tint.
Only on grey scale red tint shows more.

That is the actual issue. Irrespective of any theme or skin. Any dark grey turns reddish on low brightness and high refresh rate. Any other color is unaffected, so why would white turn red?

Spen writing problems

Hey xda community, I have had galaxy notes for the past 5 years, love them. Galaxy note 4 and note 5 were great writing tools in college, very precise back then. When i got my note 9 i noticed certain spots in the screen where the pointer offsets to the right so when im writing my words look all jacked up, something that never happened on note 4&5. This happens in the left portion of the screen, not even on the edge, about 5mm left from the flat portion of the display. When i place the spen close to the screen it can be seen that the pointer offsets to the right, about 3mm or so, on most of the screen is fine, lining up with the actual tip of the pen. Does anyone else have this problem? Its even worse with external spens like the one on the galaxy tab s6. See pics for more info.
Thanks!!
If you are using a magnetic charging case (especially Mophie) that would be the possible reason.

Thanks for the response, but unfortunately is not the spen itself since it happens with all spens like i mentioned with the one from the galaxy gab s6. I just want to know if you guys are having the same issue, try hovering the pen on the left side of the screen like in the pictures i posted and see if the pointer offsets to the right and while you move the pointer to the middle of the screen youll probably see how it lines up to the actual spen tip.

anyone got Samsung clear view case

anyone got clear view case.......
I'm trying to figure out where the magnets are placed and the chip..
if you feel the case material you can feel the magnets and where the chip is
Reason is i bought note 20 clear view instead of note20 ultra case. so i was going to put sensors in my present case so it switch off when i close
picture would be helpful
there should be an indentation of where the magnet is from what I remember. It's really thin on the bottom left of the flap. I believe all versions since they introduced that line.

The chip is NFC. It'll tell the phone that you are using that particular case and give you a notification to download themes based on the color of the case. It should be close enough to rear but not block/interfere the NFC antenna after the initial read.
Try and turn on your NFC and tap it.
