i have the uk xt1072 4g is it possible to unlock bootloader as when i try it says device not qualified for bl unlock, and when i spoke to motorola they looked at the unlock data and said the moto g 2nd gen 4g is not supported yet for bootloader unlock?
any help is appreciated as phone feels useless with locked bootloader i just want to achieve root access
My device cid is 0x007 which i should be able to unlock
Here are a lot of XT1072 users with a rooted phone. As this is only possible with an unlocked bl the statement of motorola canĀ“t be true.
If your cid says "able to unlock" it should be able to unlock. Is it a retail phone? Have you deleted all the seperators in the key before pasting it to the motorola page?
Maybe look for a XT1072 user here on XDA and ask if he has any problems.
Yh should be straight forward so annoying pretty sure im entering key correctly not sure what issue is

It is unlockable, try to copy every line manually and make sure u don't have spaces somewhere.
I have a similar issue with the xt1072 (0x007). Motorola says it is unlockable and I got some unlock key but if I want to unlock the phone with fastboot oem unlock KEY it is not possible to unlock. There is a message: unlock not possible enable oem unlock in the developer menu. But there is no option in my developer menu for enabling oem unlock.
Is it possible to get the developer menu option back or to enable oem unlock on a other way?

I resolved my issue with first doing a factory reset, see www_androidpit_com / how-to-factory-reset-the-moto-g-2014 and after that I have this options and unlocking the bootloader works like a charme.
Hello,
I'm Trying to unlock a moto x 1058 from AT&T, I've entered the following command in fastboot mode: oem get_unlock_data.
Then I've pasted that code in the moto x website, but I got a message saying that my bootloader can't be unlocked.
Is there anything I can do to unlock it?
Thanks in advance.
Both AT&T and Verizon will not allow the bootloader to be unlocked, except on the developer edition. Many moons ago, there was a Chinese middleman that could supply unlock codes for a fee, but that has been a while. Most likely, you're stuck ... sorry.
What about sunshine? If you are on 4.4.2 it should work. That's what i've read about.
I'm assuming all X4's not bought though a traditional Carrier (US) are unlocked, but after some googling, I still haven't seen any confirmation.

generally speaking android one devices are allowed to unlock till now. I dont know if this time google prohibited it or not. But MI A1 is android one device and is easily unlocked using simple

command. So may be moto x4 android one edition is easy to unlock
"Unlocked" could be a couple things, of course...
With respect to bootloader, every other Fi device has been unlockable, so I would assume that trend will continue.
And, according to the Fi twitter account, an X4 purchased through Project Fi will not be carrier-locked, so should work on any network.
We're dealing with 3 different things:
1) Carrier unlocked. I would assume that yes, this phone is carrier unlocked. Meaning if you want to ditch Fi and move to another PAYG or carrier, you can.
2) Bootloader unlocked. This is almost certainly NOT unlocked, as every phone comes out of the factory with a locked bootloader.
3) Bootloader unlockable? Can it be easily unlocked for ROMs and kernels and modding etc? Probably.
Just ordered a X4 from the Fi store. It says estimated delivery on Nov 1.

I got my x4 yesterday and can confirm that it is possible to unlock the bootloader, but to do so you have to get an unlock code from Motorola that you append after the

command. It seems I'll have to hold off for a full root tho, I haven't found a twrp or cwm recovery image that I've confirmed to be compatible with the Fi x4 yet.
I would provide the link to the motorola unlock page, but my account is too new to post an outside link.

google provided me this
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
and
https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
not sure I see the x4 in the list.
edit: clicking through the first link I was able to get the unlock code from motorola for my new x4. I will hold off on unlocking until we have some files to flash.

Shouldn't you unlock before you start seriously using the device? "oem unlock" wipes out your secure storage as far as I remember.

True but if I unlock now then I will fail safetynet check
Confirmation: OEM Unlocking option is in developer settings
Just got my X4 today, and in developer settings, there is an OEM Unlocking option. I haven't done the next step (no reason yet to), but it's what I've got.

That toggle doesn't unlock the bootloader. But rather allows the bootloader to be unlocked. You will still need to follow the steps above to get yourself an unlock code from Motorola.
Received my new Amzn Prime Exclusive Moto G6 and using Minimal ADB and developer options, was able to enter fastboot mode. Retrieved code string from phone and entered at Moto website, but no joy. Was declared "ineligible". I was able to "Agree" with the terms to request a code, but no "submit" button appeared. Anyone have an info or ideas on this?
Thanks!
I don't think bootloader unlocking allowed by Amazon, same as Verizon.

Thanks. I see Best Buy also has the G6 for the same price ($249). Can anyone confirm any variations of this phone are Bootloader unlockable?
Thanks ?
The Carrier unlocked XT 1925-6 should be able to bootloader unlock. Haven't tried it yet since no working TWRP or custom roms.
Unlocking the bootloader will probably also cause the Play Store to list your phone as Uncertified, keeping you from downloading certain apps like Netflix.
