Hi. I've just got my A2 and realized that after plugging in usb cable it is stable and doesn't un-plugg itself but It can move a little up and down. I am worried because it may be a factory defect. Should I return the phone as long as I can?
do you have a simillar ailment?

Yes, I have the same issue. The usb cable moves up and down a little even though it clicks in place. Hope it isn't something serious.

So just two days ago one morning i woke up unplugged my note from the wall charger and i noticed the charging symbol didnt go away. so i plugged it back in and took it out and it was still there i even reset it i rebooted it and it still showed it was charging somehow. After a cuple or reboots everything went back to normal. i ignored the problem now today two days later the note starts vibrating out of no were multiple times like crazy. It acts like if i was plugging the charger in and out of it one second it shows its charging next second its back to normal. It keeps doing this back and forths its bein 10mins now and its still vibrating. The only way to make it stop is to actually have it plugged into the wall. Oh by the way im running rocket rom v20 & abyass kernel 3.4 on it any suggestions? I allready called samsung they just said sorry they couldnt do anything about it

If nothing else works try a factory reset *2767*3855#, backup your files first and remove the sd card before doing that. I hope it returns to normal than.
Good luck
I think it was software related because i did a nandroid back up to my original stock rom and everything is fine now ive unpluged it and plugged it back in like 20 times now also rebooted it and it has not showed up again

Jesus and all saints bless you. Congrats!
Sorry to break your happy bubble, its not a software problem but rather a hardware defect in the usb port of the note. I have this problem and so do many others. This problem was also noted in many galaxy s2 phones. You can do all the resets or flash stock roms but the problem can come back at any time. My theory is the custom cover for the galaxy note. Mine has a small opening for the usb port so when I would push in my usb cable, it would settle in at a slight angle. this caused my usb cable connector to bent in a slight angle and hence, causing the pins inside the phone to also bend in the same angle. the dirt inside the usb pins can also cause the issue but I cleaned mine with alcohol and nail polish remover. My problem still exists. Then I tried the push the pins down towards the back of the phone and, again, no positive results. Now when I disconnect my usb cable, I push it down a bit and then slowly disconnect it from my phone. this is working fine for me so far. As soon as the usb part becomes available on ebay, I am buying it and installing it inside my note.
By the way, there are a few threads on this issue already.
good luck.

Hi my GT-N7000 was giving me some problems with charging it was appearing as if it had been charging when in fact it was not taking charge at all. Now when i restarted the phone it is stuck in startup mode and does not go past the samsung logo. i was going to update or rather reinstall the software via Odin but cannot do so because the phone not connecting therefore the software cannot be reinstalled.
please is there anything i can do my phone cannot work beyonf the startup samsung logo
would really appreciate some expert advice. i don't know how to repair it all i know is software. any ideas and what could be wrong!!!
Try a different ROM if you can boot into recovery and if you're rooted. But there seems to be a problem with the USB port. I guess you'll have to clean it with alcohol strips or replace it soon.

I cant install any ROM because the data cable it not connecting at all
i tried cleaning the port already
rite now i opened the phone and looking at the charging port board right now
feel i may have to change that hope the motherboard isnt damaged
I'm seeing where i can get the charging port but do u know where i can source the motherboard if necessary just weighing my options right now
thanx a lot tho
You can buy the stuff on ebay. And i guess the replacement of USB port will do it, don't change motherboard or other stuff. And mate don't say thanks, click it!!!
my daughter's Note 7000 was not charging properly, it cost me GB£4.00 for the small circuit board which has the USB connector on it, and it was very easy to replace it, as shown in this video which I found on youtube:

Recently I paid nearly USD 80,00 for doing the same repair. Sadly, Android shows the device as charging, but in truth it's not charging at all.
Hello
The usb connector is broken, it started a little while ago, when the connector loosened, and I occasionally had to straighten the plug up before plugging in the usb cord. The other day the connector joined the usb cord on its way out...
I sent the into Sony the other day, and are looking forward to hear what they say. I´m always careful with my phone, and of that reason I cant se why it has broken. I think I will use the dock that came with the phone for charging in the future. Anyway, I just wanted to post here so that people know that another person have the same problem. Does anyone here have the problem?
There is a long thread on it on the Sony forum
Im a new user and cant post links... anyway remove the (( and ))) --> http ))))) ://talk. ))))))) sonymobile. (((((( com/thread/125596?start=30&tstart=0

I've had mine for a week now, and I am already noticing some weird issues with the plug (sometimes i plug the charger, it does not recognize it, then I try again a couple times, and it does).
Moreover, i come from a bad history: with my other Xperia (X10), usb jack simply got unsoldered from board ...

I'm sorry to hear that, and I think you should contact sony, if more people complains Sony have to acknowledge it as a problem. I'm currently in a fight with the workshop, but I'm not giving up on this. If I want it fixed they will charge me for 2600kr (≈330euro/438usd). But the usb port should last longer than two months of use.
Thinking the USB Port is bad since it will only charge when i twist the plug around an hold, appears to have a bad connection. Anyone have this prob? Anyone replace theirs? Wondering if there is much to it on this phone.
here's a guide

Quick question...... Have you tried another wire? It' may have a short in the wire and not actually be a USB issue....
This may or may not help you as it's not your model but this guide does show the process.

You can also pick up the usb port for the SGH-T679 at Amazon for $7.49.

Hope this helps....
My stock rom M8 is answering and making calls in speaker mode all the time. Also, the home screen is allowed to rotate. I've read a bit about some other phones having this issue caused by a bad USB port. Has anyone reported issues like this with the M8? Plug in a USB cable and it's back to normal. The USB cable doesn't even have to be connected to anything on the other end for this to work. Unplug the USB and the screen comes on a couple seconds later with the issues back again. I'm hoping someone can tell me I don't have to replace my USB port to get it fixed.
Phone info:
Stock Sprint rom
Running ART (changed animation scales down to .5)
Only using 10B of 32GB of phone storage and 10.5GB of a 32GB SD
Factory reset the phone and it didn't fix
Using Tasker for managing Ringer profiles and mobile data connection
Chrome installed and updated
All phone updates are updated
Always use HTC charger and charging cord
Phone is babied (It sits in a case on a microfiber cloth on my desk at work )
HELP! My ears can't take anymore of the auto speaker mode.

It looks like your phone thinks its always on "Car Mode". Some cleaning of the usb connector might be able to fix it.
There is an extra pin in the phone usb connector that detects when its connected to car dock, desktop craddle or in usb host mode.if something is bridging it to the ground pin, this can happen.

I cleaned it with part of a Q-tip and some glass cleaner, then probed around in there with a needle. Nothing looked dirty. I ran a usb cable in and out a few times to see if it would work something out of the way. I'm leaving it dry out now (just in case it's a little moist) and we'll see what happens.

Well good luck. At last resort you can always try to fully restore with RUU

I spoke to HTC and our last resort before sending it in is to re-flash the stock Sprint RUU. Are there instructions on that somewhere? Or, is it better to just root now that it's somewhat busted?

Hit the second link in my sig and read over the section about RUU's. Links to the latest RUU can be found at the bottom of the first post. There is info on the same page as the RUU on how to run it.
