Not exactly sure where to place this since it's basically about Project Fi not just Nexus 6, but I would like to know what other phones can be used on the Project Fi.
Users have reported success transferring an already activated Project Fi sim to a nexus 5 (2013) completely working. Little is discussed on this since the release of marshmallow officially but it seems very intriguing. People have also posted success on:
Sony Xperia Z5 Compact (but no details)
If you have a phone that supports Tmobile and Sprint and can test its capabilities per above on Project Fi, please post it here! I would love to know if any of these known phones can work on a pre-activated Project Fi sim. These are just a few candidates,
Moto G 2015 (3rd gen) - has full Tmobile/Sprint and Band 12 for VoLTE potential - XT1548
Moto X Style - Full tmobile / partial sprint and band 12 potential
Moto E 2nd gen (Sprint version) - ?full tmobile / full sprint (obviously) and band 12 potential
HTC One A9 (sprint version) - released Nov 6th. Full tmobile and sprint and band 12 potential - also on marshmallow.
LG G Flex 2 -LS996 full Tmobile and sprint and band 12.
LG tribute 2 LS665 - Full tmobile and ?sprint and band 12
Huawei P8 L09 - full tmobile and sprint and band 12 - ?marshmallow soon
.... any of the Iphones ... but who cares?
And any you can think of I can not.
If you have a project fi sim and any of these phones please list out your experience,
Coverage - Tmobile and/or sprint
Wifi calling - useable (?native with marshmallow)
VoLTE service?
Any quirks you've come across!
Thanks in advance,
Rico
I believe the phone has to have a special Qualcomm modem to work properly with project fi

No "I believe" or "I think"
Sources please.
Also, that describes most of the phones on this list
Thanks

Fi only supports 3 phones at this time: Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P:
Why is Project Fi only available on the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6?
These devices are the first smartphones that supports our network of networks. They work with the Project Fi SIM card, which supports multiple cellular networks, and a state-of-the-art cellular radio tuned to work across network types.

Interesting, Im trying to find info on the Moto X Pro - China variant? It may not have Tmobile (and likely not sprint) LTE bands.
Thanks
Rico
Interesting, some more info,
This guy states his moto x 2014 (verizon) works on project fi - data and calling. No mention of wifi calling. Phone doesnt have Volte. I imagine it uses tmobile only - no sprint coverage.

Another one
Moto X - pure edution - xt1575
Full TMobile/sprint and VoLTE capable. not on marshmallow yet.

Hello guys! As i can know today, HUAWEI P9 (especially EVA-L19) does support VoLTE feature, but now its disabled on software-based level.
Today i was speaking with russian Huawei support team and they said, that need to collect many requests for enabling this feature.
As i know, this forum reading some Huawei stuff and via that thread i want to collect some requests for enabling that feature in next sw updates.
Many EU countries and Russia already launched VoLTE feature with LTE Video calling (in russia its Beeline and MegaFon)
I can just say that there's no VoLTE support on my P9 on Telenor/Telia network in Denmark.
Is there any way to activate volte on Huawei P9 lite VNS-L21? I purchased it from Dubai.
Yes Volte is required for my P9. I have also voted yes. Thank you for the thread
I am purchased from UAE,how can activate volte on my p9,now I am in in
India
Volte on EVA-19C dual SIM model
Hi, I bought this model P9-EVA-19C with dual sim in Dubai. But this is not supporting Volte in India. I have update the firmware to 390 too, still it is not supporting VOLTE.....:crying:

Dear Ryan Fox,
Most of the 4G operators in India or not 4GLTE, infact all of them are 4G VoLTE.
Huawei Phones purchased in China or UAE are not working with Voice calling, Data is fine.
I have 3 phones, Mate 8, Mate 9 and P9 all purchased in Huawei store in Schenzen during my visit to China.
They do not support 4G VolTE voice calling in India.
We all have to convey this message to the Experts in Huawei to issue some software upgradation over the Air.
my number +919493407596
Jio voice seems to work with the voice app(at least when i tried it a couple of months ago)
At least the two major French operators are providing volte but no option with my p9
Does both the Project Fi version and Regular Motorola version that is up for preorder tomorrow belong in the Android One Family? Or are they going to be on different update paths again?
They do not use the same software.
The regular Moto X4 has a bunch of Motorola software, and includes Alexa. The Android One Moto X4 will be a strictly 100% google software phone, and will include the google assistant. There may be other differences, but we're not sure yet. The Regular X4 touts features like "professional mode" on their camera, and a bluetooth system that will connect to and stream audio to 4 speakers at the same time. It's not sure if these features will make it to the Project One X4. The Project One X4 should get updates faster, and is promised to get Oreo before the end of the year. The Reg X4 will get Oreo as well, but we're not sure when.
Since it's the same hardware on both, and since the Android One X4 has been promised to upgrade to Android P, I would imagine the Regular X4 would also get P, but don't quote me on that.
Note: upgrading to Oreo is also required to unlock the Bluetooth 5.0 features. Android 7.1 only allows up to 4.2.
I received my Project Fi version this afternoon and it still has a surprising amount of Moto software features. It is not 100% pure Android.
Both Moto Actions and Moto Display are present.
Also the Camera app/experience is fully Moto.
No Alexa of course. And the Multi device Bluetooth control doesn't seem to be here.

Does this mean that in order to root, we will need to wait for a Fi-specific recovery image from twrp or cwm?

I'm honestly not sure, but I doubt it... If a custom recovery is ported/developed for the X4 it will most likely work on any X4 that is bootloader unlockable. I don't think the software channel will matter.

I just figured out there are more than one variant of Moto X4, I found out Android One version of Moto X4 has bluetooth 4.2 while original version of Moto X4 has Bluetooth 5.0.
I asked Project Fi support team any Moto X4 will work on Project Fi so I'm thinking to order unlocked version to use the hardware 100% for same price.

That is only partially true.
Hardware:
There are multiple hardware variants of the X4. Most of them have to do with antenna frequencies for different countries, and dual-sim options. From what I can tell, most American phones are the same hardware: "XT1900-1". There are multiple software variants, depending on who you bought it from (retail, Amazon, Fi, etc), but it's all the same hardware.
Bluetooth:
All Moto X4 have a Bluetooth 5.0 chip in them. Android Nougat only supports Bluetooth 4.2, so we're software limited to 4.2 for now. This is true for ALL software versions of the phone. It's a driver issue, and not something that Motorola can bypass. Android Oreo supports Bluetooth 5.0, so we will "unlock" 5.0 support when we get the 8.0 upgrade. Again, this is true for all software variants, not just Fi or retail.

Ah thank you for correcting me I only asked to project Fi support about the device didn't know the software was limitation of usage I guess the support didn't really know deeper detail about.

no problem bro. anyway thanks for replying. btw my intention was to find out if I could flash a stock image we have, and.this doesnt belong in this thread, idk why I posted here hehehe
It seems the Android one version does not support one button nav or Moto key. Other Moto actions like chop for flashlight and twist for camera are there however. Not sure if this is just an oversight on motorolas part or not.

Moto Voice on Android One version?
I'm seriously considering coming back to Motorola with the Moto X4. The Moto Voice app really has the best in-car experience with Ford Sync systems. However, what I don't like with Moto is the slow update schedule.
So, I thought I found the perfect phone when they announced the Moto X4 Android One version, except that it doesn't look like Moto Voice is available on that version. Has anyone tried to install Moto Voice on the Android One version? Does anyone know what would prevent installing this app?
Thanks much!
Can I use the AndroidOne on T-Mobile?

Does the moto g7 supports Treble?
I can't tell you if Moto G7 Plus has Treble, but according to all Treble checkers I found at the Play Store my Moto G7 Power does have it.
I didn't know there were Treble checking apps, got this one and it says that my G7 Plus can be Treble-ized, here's a screenshot.
Treble is compulsory for phones with Android 8.0 Oreo or higher out of the box
