Quick charge with power off phone? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I have a question about quick charge on this phone.
If I disable fast charge in setting menù and I charge the phone in power off mode, how it's work? It will charge fast o standard speed?
Thank you
connex

i think it will follow the fast charge off setting and charge standard speed

Even I think it will charge in normal speed as you selected in the settings. However, if you use the phone when charging, it will be charging less than if left alone and even if you leave it alone it will be charging less then if you turn it completely off.

tilt battery charges slowly.

Within the last few days I've notice that my phone is charging at unbelievable slow rate via the wall charge that was supplied. I usually get a full charge in maybe 1-2 hr depending on what percentage the battery is at. Once it is fully charge it hold the charge, but when it drains then it would take like 6 hrs to do a full charge. I've tried to soft reset it to see if the percentage goes up, but it stay the same. I turn off the phone to let it charge, but it still charge at a slow rate. I'm wondering is it time to purchase a new battery.
What do you think? And is there any other test I can do?
The slow charge could be one of a few things... One could be the battery as you suspect (and probally most likely).. Also, are you chargign the phone in a diffrent place? If the battery gets too warm from lack of circulation, it will not charge (or just charge much mroe slowly).. It also could be that your USB port is starting to go... IF you have a stand alogn abattery charger available for it (like one on a docking station) try to charge it on there and see if it still charges as slowly.. Another though could be if you are charging it in your car while using GPS or Wifi.. IF those are left on, they suck down the battery a lot faster and thus it uses the electricity as fast as it can pull it in.. I woudl suggest powering the phone down while charging.. that could also help...
i always charge it in the same spot since i got the phone. i dont have a dock charger. its weird last night i was at 49 and i turn off the phone completely and plug it in. woke up today the orange light indicating that it was charging still was on. turn on the phone and it was at 55 percent. WTF!!!!!!!!!!
I guess that touch pro 2 better come out soon.

i have the same problem. Its either your USB port or the charger, so simply go buy a new charger and if it still does it the port is bad....if not, problem solved
or put it in your computer to charge, that avoids buying a new charger.
usb charging is always slower then wallplug charging as usb can only provide
5v * 0.5Amps == 2.5Watt
where
wall charger can provide as much watt
as the charger is made to
but of cause the pda will only draw as much
amps as it was made to support

Extremely slow charging without enabling fast charge

So I do understand that the Note 5 has fast charge and normally we should leave it enabled to enjoy the charging speed. But the thing is, when fast charging my phone heats up very fast and although it does charge fast, I feel like it could have a negative impact on the battery. So recently I tried turning the fast charge option off (in the battery settings). I expect it to charge normally like when you plug in a non-fast charge adapter, like the one from Note 4 for instance, but it's very very slow. Measuring via ampere it shows ~480 for a couple first minutes, then it drops to ~180 for the rest of the time, then the phone even shows a notification of charging slowly. And that's using the original fast charge adapter, even. Not sure what's happening here. Anyone has a similar experience?
Cables make a world difference when it comes to charging. Are you using the original cable as well ? If you use ampere , and try different cables , you will see that the same charger , outputs different values , depending on the cable. It is also normal for the mA to reduce as the battery gets closer to 100% So a lot of things affect the current at which it is charging.

Xperia XZ2 doesn't say quick charging when it's being charged

Hello, everyone.
I just got my XZ2 but when I charge it, it only displays that the phone is charging. Not quick charging. What does your phone say? Thank you!!
Sorry phones never show quick charging so don't worry
Maybe what you meant is a "Charging Rapidly" message?
It's not just not saying quick charging... it isn't quick charging from what I can tell. A full charge takes me 2h 15 min, though much of it is because it slows down to 5% per 15 minutes once it is above 70% or so. But the maximum power draw I've measured (with screen off) is 12 watts. That's basically 5V 2A charging, which we've had for a long time now. A Xiaomi Mi 6 for example draws 19 watts, and is fully charged in 1h 15 min, despite having a bigger battery. I believe Sony isn't quick charging to prolong battery life, which usually is a good thing. I just wish there was a manual way to tell the phone to quick charge, when you know you don't have a lot of time to top it up.
QC3.0 is working fine... we have Voltage from 5.2 to 8.8V which is normal.
2h15min is a complete normal duration for charging. We have Qnovo Charging Technologie which slows it down. but it will greatly enhance longetivity.
I've tested charging here.
I'm ok with the slow charging, except there are times where you don't have access to a power socket for long. Say at an airport. Or you are about to leave home and find out the battery is almost dead. In those situations I just want to hammer the battery... and that that is possible is obvious when you look at the competition. They won't last as long, but if you could activate quick charge in emergency situations that would be great.
Also, that's a great posting. Thank you!
I upgraded from Z5, so quick charge on XZ2 is pretty fast!
It run with quick charge but just dont like the other.. i think sony only use around 80% capable of qualcom quick charge
When I had an HTC 10, the battery ran out faster after it was charged using the quick charger.
With XZ2 I just use the original 1.5A charger, nothing to complain about battery life.

I can also confirm this... Its working as it should... this charges faster than my old XZ.... Also You could consider a power bank, you can pick up a 4k power bank for about £10 /$15
IMO, Ide rather my battery lasted 2 or even 3 years and buy a power bank than have battery problems in 12_18 mnths, but I do agree with you ... it confused me at first, and It could say "quick charge" or something similar

quick charge on off

Hi
I've searched around to disable sometimes quick charge, because I believe it isn't good for the battery if I use it too often. Normaly I'm charging with syberia intelligent charging up to 80%, in the evening it's fast around 30 or 40 minutes.
Sometimes I want to charge overnight, but it isn't good if the battery charges fast and then pump up again and again to hold the level.
Now I've recognized a file changing will stop the quick charge and with slow charging I believe that it's better to charge to 80 or 90 percent in around 5 or 6 hours.
I've change the file /sys/class/charge_pump/enable to 0 and set chmod to only readable. The phone is charging now slow but it changes back to fast charge after reboot.
The best would be a small app or script to optimize and to choose quick charge on off so that I'm able to change it quickly whenever I want. May there's someone who is able to provide this functionality?
I don't want to take an old charger with 1A to get slow charging... Better a new charger and able to switch the charging procedures....

Question Wireless charging 9w

Hi, I have a question.. I bought Samsung wireless charger 9w and I charged the phone completely switched off and the charging time was approximately 4 hours.. Is it normal? Maybe the wireless charging not working in fast mode if the phone is powered of?? Thanks..
9w is really low power to charge a 5000mah battery sooner than that
of course its normal with a 9w charger ... thats damn slow
Another question, is it bad for the battery on the long run?
I usually charge overnight during sleep so I don't mind slow charging just curious about battery life. Thanks
Qi standard allows one to use even lower charging power than that 9W for safer overnight charging. Check the alignment of the charging coils for optimal result.
9W is not fast wireless charging, it is normal; 15W is fast wireless charging.
