SM-960F/DS.. CSC's... VoLTE, Wifi Calling.... - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

My dad got me a Note 9 from the middle east (exynos, dual sim). Its Active CSC is KSA. I live in Canada and have been using it without any issues for the past few months. I was also able to recently update it to Pie since KSA is part of the OXM multi-csc.
I don't see an option for WiFi Calling, don't have VoLTE, and can't use Samsung Pay. I've been reading around for a few months now trying to wrap my head around all things Samsung (since this is my first Samsung phone...). I understand that this is due to my phone having KSA as the active CSC and being used in Canada? My provider (Rogers) has confirmed that they have WiFi calling activated on my line.
I was hoping someone could point me the right direction if there is any solution to this? There is no dual-sim version in Canada so I assume flashing some other Canadian firmware won't work (as it would be for a single-sim model).

Change CSC in THL. Follow the guide carefully:

Thanks for the information. I'm wondering what CSC am I changing the phone? Canada is not part of the OXM Multi-CSC? The Canadian versions are also single-sim not DS. Can I use the method to change the CSC to a Canadian carrier's CSC and then still flash the Multi-CSC firmware?

You have Note 9 exynos variant, so you have nothing to lose . Because you will be in the same situation as the first time when you put the sim. If you change CSC ( THL) you will have wificall and volte and native call recording. That's what I did. The only difference is the sim , and I do not think it influences anything.
Dial *#1234# to find current firmware details.
ATTENTION! : after installing PIE Do NOT start the first setup with SIM. It changed the CSC back with sim!!!

Ok - So I went through the process. I used RealTerm and changed the CSC to XAC (Canada, unbranded). Note that this is not part of the OXM Multi-CSC. After everything was done, the phone defaulted to XEU (United Kingdom). Trying the method again with SIM card inserted before restart didn't change this outcome. However, this whole time I was using the XSG (UAE) firmware to update the phone.
I will now try again with the THL firmware and hope that it works!
I'm assuming Samsung Pay will still be unavailable?

Samsung Pay will be available for unroot knox= 0x0! And Caller ID and spam protection.

Thanks for all your help so far. Things that I've learned so far:
1) Changing the CSC through the method you shared didn't really work when it was outside of the OXM Multi-CSC. For example, I tried changing CSC to RWC (Rogers, Canada) or XAC (Canada, Unbranded). When I did this and flashed any of the latest SM-N960F firmware (whether XSG, DBT, or THL) -- the device would default to XEU (United Kingdom). I'm assuming this is happening because the manually set Canadian CSC doesn't exist within the OXM multi-csc.
2) I tested this out by setting the CSC to THL and flashing the THL firmware. This time it did indeed change to THL firmware. Unfortunately, things like WiFi Calling and VoLTE were still not available. Samsung Pay worked - but didn't let me add any Canadian cards.
Rooting is obviously not an option on this phone due to tripping knox. Maybe sometime down the road someone can figure it out.

Or you can try to change for SM-N960W model.

SM-960W is the Snapdragon single-sim variant. I feel worst case it will fry the phone. Best case, I'll lose the dual-sim capability..

Have u tried installing the Canadian csc going into recovery wiping cache and then doing a reset from there? Then reboot with your Canadian sim only installed (no other sim or second sim if dual). Usually this triggers the correct csc code

Seems like the only way to do that would be to root the device since there is no SM-N960F in Canada -- only SM-N960W. So all the Canadian firmware is for SM-N960F. My understanding is that I would have to root the device and then change the CSC based on this discussion:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...960n-n960u-n960u1-n960w-n9600-t3833721/page18
If I follow the method explained earlier by changing CSC with RealTerm -- the device rejects the the Canadian CSC (e.g. XAC or RWC) and defaults to XEU (which is part of the OXM mutli-csc).

you can't flash a different model firmware with odin

I did it and works for me volte is working again, it dosen´t matter the firmware you flash, you must change csc code, follow the link and you can change it, its´´s so easy

No. Not for T-Mobile.

Can u plz do these for Note 4 N910C XME malaysia CSC ....plz i want csc flashable file....
Whats the differences between these CSC's?
XSA is the bebranded one you purchase outright from Harvey Norman. TEL is the telstra CSC on telstra branded phones includes telstra branding on boot up and shutdown. I however removed branding on telstra CSC to reduce size. The telstra model also runs a different modem to the XSA variant
-= Note 4 & Gear VR =-
Both however will work and if you have telstra be sure to flash telstra modem too
-= Note 4 & Gear VR =-
i have two note 4's and have NO IDEA what they came with stock actually, as i got both second hand.
i've updated both to the latest telstra modems previously, but that didnt change much.

It would use telstra apn settings from csc. All aussies better off using XSA csc and correct modem per your operaters firmware. XSA csc has all Australian providers APNS and no branding.

Note 8 Exynos: do you have the 5 GHz option in the advanced hotspot configuration?

I posted the same question on the S8+ forum:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/s8-exynos-5-ghz-option-hotspot-t3675821
My Exynos S8+ SM-G955F doesn't offer this option for selection, only 2.4 GHz.
I suspect the 5 GHz option for hotspot is only available on the Snapdragon version...

I'm on the Korean Exynos N950N and I have it.
Actually both the posts were useful, so now I know that this option can be available both on Snapdragon and Exynos version.
It looks like that there is no limitation in the Exynos SOC itself, it's apparently a Samsung decision to show or hide this option in the regional firmwares.
Hi guys,
Just found this old thread while searching in Google for a similar question. I have the Note 8 too, Exynos version (SM-N950F) and, as seems by the previous post, Exynos also allows to broadcast the hotspot at 5.0 GHz, so it might be a firmware limitation.
Do you know if there is any specific ROM, CSC, tweak; anything that would give me that option to use the hotspot at 5.0 GHz? I have found this post by @phatWares mentioning a quite old tool by Wanam. Can anybody confirm this still would work? I ask because I'm fully on stock on my Note, so I'd like to have some assurance before tripping Know, flashing ROM, etc.
Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.
I had the same question and did some research.
It seems there is a new EU directive that restricts the use of 5ghz frequencies for mobile hotspots and this is why we are running into this issue (has to do with interference with police radars and such).
Logically one way to circumvent this limitation is to change CSC to a country that does not have such limitation.
I am outside the EU and I have a EU phone with British firmware and CSC, I have yet to find a proper CSC to switch to.

Are you rooted? Have you tried the tool that I've mentioned in my previous post from Wanam? It seems to be a CSC Editor that allows you to enabled the 5.0 GHz option with a checkbox.

Hi,
My phone is not rooted. Like you, I have a SM-N950F (european unlocked).
.
I did change the CSC on my phone successfully once, it was a couple of weeks ago.
.
The reason was that I was on a TUR CSC due to an OTA update whilst in Turkey with a Turkish SIM on a TIM phone which had XFE firmware.
.
I was annoyed by the resulting samsung software notifications in Turkish, which is a language I do not understand, so I wanted them gone.
.
My CSC is now BTU/BTU/TIM.
.
The procedure I used involves using odin to flash what is called a "combination rom".
The combination rom essentially replaces the stock rom with samsung software used by samsung support engineering staff for diagnosis and repair.
.
It is critical to only flash a combination ROM that is compatible with your bootloader version.
.
I had the DSG1 stock ROM with the latest bootloader when I flashed the combination ROM, so the version I used is:
.
COMBINATION_FA71_N950FXXU7ASG1_CL12991683_QB24738638_REV00_user_mid_noship.tar.md5
.
There is a seemingly cumbersome procedure to follow involving Odin, several factory resets and reflashing multiple times, and it worked flawlessly for me.
It is described here:
.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74324845&postcount=87
.
I would re-use this procedure again without hesitation.
.
But I have yet to find a CSC code that would allow 5ghz hotspot capabilities (so non-EU) whilst retaining Samsung Pay and avoiding software notifications in a language I do not understand
.
If you know of such a CSC code, pls share
Perhaps somebody that tried that Wanam application to edit the CSC could confirm? That might be worth rooting for

South African XFV firmware is German after flash with Odin

I downloaded the South African XFV (Vodafone) firmware and flashed it with Odin.
AP

CP
CSC
After reboot the language is in German. Software shows VD2/VD2/XFV instead of XFV/XFV/XFV.
Does anyone know how I can fix this??
I want to use Samsung Pay but can't because my region is not correct.
Which firmware you have installed? Sounds like you have installed a branded Vodafone firmware which don't have your CSC included.

I used Samfirm and searched for the South African XFV firmware.
The only one that came up is the Vodafone XFV firmware. (My phone's country code is XFV)
The other two that's available for South Africa is XFE and XFA (if I remember correctly)
Will I be able to install one of the other South African firmwares on my XFV device?

So it was this CRG1 firmware version with OVF CSC (see screenshot)?
You could try to remove your SIM card and reboot 1 time. Then shutdown, put the card back in and boot again. Normally it should recognize the card and switch to the correct CSC View attachment 4567759

Hi there, first of all your thread is in the wrong sub-forum "development". It would be better placed in the "Q & A" section.
The firmware consisting of BL, AP, CP is the same for every country. It's the CSC that makes the difference. If you want XFV for Vodacom South Africa you must download the respective package. I usually use Sammobile. I personally am on DBT Germany which works 100% here in SA. If you are looking for VoLTE and WiFi calling forget it. According to Vodacom Cresta (in Joburg) the Note8 is not configured for these services which I find rather strange. But that's Vodacom anyway. Cheers LJ
That's not 100% correct. WiFi calling and VoLTE works for our Note 8. If it's not available by CSC, then it's a hidden feature which maybe can by enabled with apps like QuickShortcutMaker. Maybe VoLTE isn't supported by Vodafone in SA - that I don't know.

Of course, VoLTE & WiFi Calling works on the N8. I had it working on DBT when I was in Germany 4 weeks ago. But on Vodacom it just doesn't. It's a carrier specific problem. They assured me that both services have been activated. But that's Africa. You can never be sure. LJ

Dual SIM flashing CSC for VoLTE and Wifi Calling

Hi All,
Is it possible to get a dual sim model (I am in Canada), and then flash a canadian CSC that is meant for a single sim device so i can get VoLTE and Wifi calling? What would be the best way to get the dual sim version to use all features of the Telus network?
Thanks!
I imagine flashing the CSC of a single sim device would mean you'd lose access to the second sim slot. I'm in a similar boat with an unlocked single sim note 9 and while I have voLTE I have no wifi calling on verizon. I just flashed verizon CSC and no luck.

Your best bet might be to wait until a rooted combination ROM comes out for your model. Root allows a lot more flexibility with international devices and the firmware they can run.

I'm not on a dual SIM Note 9, just a single, But the topic & processes here are interchangeable & the info I need fits this thread so I figured to ask. Sorry if I offended anyone.
What about note 9 Canada snapdragon model SM-N960W ESK (EASTLINK) which is my current setup. Phone is carrier unlocked. Question is Can I use the hidden code on the phone that looks like....
*#272*555777555333555# where the 5s 7s & 3s would be my IMEI? select BMC (Bell Mobile Canada) and CSC will be changed? Or To change the CSC and unlock wifi calling do I Flash bell firmware and if so do I do the phone code change after installing bell firmware? I hear that is the process and once completed I just pop in my ESK (EASTLINK) SIM card and I'm good to go & should have wifi calling & my current working Eastlink carrier. I hear I'll end up with just bell branded phone & bloatware & have to wait for bell updates not Eastlink ones.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
#################################
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Do I pick option: sales code change
or option: network code change
--------------------------------------------------------------------
#################################
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my service provider info, also I'm still on bootloader v1 & not rooted.
Second of all could I Flash XAC firmware then boot up with bell sim in phone, I read XAC phones will pick up carrier of the first SIM that is put into the phone. I have a bell SIM but the SIM isn't activated so will it still work? If it does than after that I go back to my Eastlink SIM?
Right now I'm on Android v8.1.0 because I wanted to keep call recording:
Can anybody help me out? I need the process clearly stated & proven to work. I've been researching for days and see a lot of contradictory comments & various methods. I'm not dumb, rooted many phones (not this one.... Yet) but am not familiar with every term for things. Much thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you need any more information from me please let me know, I check XDA Forums daily.
The XAC will adapt to any SIM put in the service from a Canadian carrier. If you put a Bell SIM in and then switch to Rogers. Once you out that Rogers SIM in, it will adapt and convert automatically.
Instead of using the dialer code, let the firmware do the work for you. All carrier sold devices in Canada are XAC.

※ I'm sorry. I'm writing here to get information from various places. And the CSC transformation of S10 and S10 5G is similar, so I'm going to leave it.
Hello, I live in Korea.
The phone you use is Galaxy samsung galaxyS10 5G(SM-G977N)
But there's a problem.
I'd like to change the CSC.
The CSC currently in use is LUC.
I would like to change the CSC to KOO in Korea.
However, the firmware of the KOO model was put in AP,BL,CP,CSC,USERDATA and it does not change.
Is there any way?

To change from CSC LUC to CSC KOO, the company received the initial firmware with countrycode KOO in the Sampirm and flashed it to Oddin, but it does not change. Is there any way I can change from CSC LUC to CSC KOO without turning?

Saudi doesn't have 5G yet, of course it won't connect to something that do not exist.

I'm trying to figure out the issue preventing 5G connection, whether it is incompatible band frequency! or phone firmware (Koria oriented) is causing the problem!
firmware versions are :
