XT1924-7 on metro pcs
Thanks

Don't know your service plan situation but I recently established service with Metro and they told me after 6 months consecutive service with them, you can request to them that the phone (Moto E Plus) be unlocked. That's a fair deal I thought.

It only took like 30 minutes or so it cost me $50/-, but I would recomend getting the SIM (GSM) side of the imagio unlocked first, and the only way to do that is to have your/ imagio activated on the verizon wireless network first and having it on there for at least 2 months, then call verizon wireless globel number which is001-800-922-0204or 001-908-559-4899 if your out side the United States Of America and have them give you the unlock code, or have somebody whos been with verizon for years and has paid there bill on time for the past two month switch there line on to your imagio and then call the vzw globel number and have them give you the unlock code, i wish i had done this before having my imagio flashed to cricket if i want to do it now i' have to get verizon for at least two months before they give me the hnlock code or know some one who has verizon, and then have my imagio flashed to cricket if i want to get it on cricket, , ive already paid 330 for the imagio and another 90 to get it flashed nkw im finding i cant ever use an other sim card unless i have my imagio unlocked, i bust wish i knew this before,
good luck i hope this helps, oh i think once you have paid the full price and own the imagio l without a contract verizon should allow you to have the basic plan for 30 a month with isnt bad... think about it
I have a friend who works at cricket, he tried my imagio but said the esn # was not in the system in my local area? If ur were successfull in getting urs flashed and switched to cricket, please let me know what city u live in or a way for me to get it flashed. This is the only reason i bought the imagio.
BTW mine is already unlocked, currenlty using with ATT.

dayton ohio, how did you unlock your imagio? the cricket people cant help you, you need to go to a cricket non franchise shop who flash phones and have sell other phones besides cricket...
I got mine unlocked from a seller on eBay. cost me $13 bucks. What's a non cricket store? Best Buy? In some cities, Cricket doesn't require you to buy a phone from them in order to get service, u can bring ur own. This the kind of city i'm seraching for. Hopefully they can give me the instructions over the phone and i can activate myself. Get service from that city and after a month get a local number.

[Q] Moto X on MetroPCS

Has anyone had any problems, or even gotten an unlocked Moto X on MetroPCS? I searched everywhere, but couldn't find anything. I know that Metro has your own BYOD program in DFW and other cities, but is that ONLY for their phones that are listed? Any info on the subject would be much appreciated.

Metro pcs is part of t Mobile now. If you bring over an unlocked gsm device I think they even give you a $50 rebate. Friend of mine did it with a Puerto Rico moto x. All on t mobiles network if you do it.

I know this thread is several months old but I had an unlocked Moto X activated on metro today. So far everything is working well. It shows that I have 4G LTE. I have tested calls and data using both the 4G and wifi connections. I am using an unlocked GSM Moto X.

I also have just had a MOTO X on Metro PCS. I ordered the Phone, and also the Metro PCS Sim Cards for $10(plus tax) from their website. Installed the sim card, and called *228. They ask for the IMEI# which doesn't show up in their system. I told them it was an unlocked phone. They input the serial, and Metro Sim # and it's working fine.

I'm still using my xt1053 on Metropcs. I lost all data after the LP update but fixed it with a new Apn. Otherwise I've had no issues in the last 18+ months. (no issues with the service, I have all kinds of issues with the phone itself after updating.)

[Q] How to unlock phone to use abroad?

Hi.
I'm going abroad on Jan 1 for 12 months and want to get the GSM version Moto X to bring it with me, but I don't know if this can be done.
The options are AT&T and T-Mobile. AT&T requires 6 months usage before they unlock, and T-Mobile requires 40 days, of which the last 7 must be in the US. So these are not options.
I then read about various "unlock" services online, but don't know how reliable these are. What are the odds they can unlock my phone, either AT&T or T-Mobile? This link: http: //www .technobuffalo.com/2013/11/14/att-unlock-changes-putting-resellers-out-of-business/ for example claims that there was a change just 1-2 months ago so that it's virtually impossible to unlock AT&T for 3rd parties now. If I buy this phone, I need to be almost 100% certain it's possible to unlock it, or it's not worth taking the risk.
Finally, would it be possible to unlock the phone by rooting it? I understand the bootloader for the T-Mobile version can be unlocked, but have no idea if, and if so how, this helps me.
Thanks in advance.

Many including me have unlocked their phones. I myself had the AT&T model. Sites such as cellunlocker, unlockcode247 get you the code within a couple of days 99% of the time. The 6 months/ 40 days usage only applies if you talk to the carrier CS for the code.
If you dont want to go that route, you could always get the T-Mobile version. Comes SIM unlocked OOTB. So does the DEV Ed.
Rooting does not unlock your phone. Unlocking the BL comes handy if you do a lot of flashing.
I know this doesn't answer your question (since the post above mine does) but the Nexus 5 and Moto G are two nice smartphones that come unlocked. N5 will run you 349, Moto G 179. No contract, unlocked. I prefer the Moto X, but if you want a 100% guarantee, buy an unlocked phone.

Are you saying that the T-Mobile Moto X without contract is NOT SIM locked to T-Mobile? It would be fantastic if that's the case. Is there an official source? I checked with Motorola a few days ago, and they told me that whatever phone I buy will be SIM locked to the operator, but they might be incorrect?
(Also, when did you unlock your AT&T phone? The article I linked says it became considerably more difficult/impossible just last month, which made me worried.)

Thanks Bacon. Yeah, I'll fall back to the Nexus 5 if the Moto X doesn't work out.

Moto X WILL work out. Even though the N5 is a great phone, I hate the 'bigger is better' race we have going on today. Phones like watches are tools. They go everywhere you do. The X is so much more handy than the N5. Removing the Nav Bar and using LMT makes it even better. This is EXACTLY the phone I was looking to get for so many years.
As for unlocking, I got mine unlocked a week ago. So did plenty of others. There are several threads in the Q&A/ General section on this. If however, you dont want to go that route, get the Dev Edition which comes unlocked. Also the T-Mobile edition. And dont base your decision based on what the CS says. There dont know squat about the X. They told me theres no way T-Mobile BL can be unlocked.

AFAIK, the Verizon and T-Mobile versions are SIM unlocked. The system version for the T-Mobile version is ghost_row.retail (not ghost_att.ATT or ghost_verizon.Verizon), so there's actually no carrier in the the system version. So, the T-Mobile variant is just a retail version of the phone that has all of the available US GSM bands unlocked. Obviously, some carrier specific LTE bands may not be available, like Verizon's upper 700MHz band 13. It does support AT&T's lower 700MHz band 17 LTE, and of course T-Mobile, Verizon's AWS band 4 LTE though.

MotoMaker - Which carrier?

Hello, I hardbricked my previous Moto X and Motorola is exchanging it. They gave me a redemption code so I can customize a new Moto X and get it for free. My previous one was with Verizon with a 2 year contract. I haven't paid Verizon anything and haven't activated the previous Moto X for them neither. Should I get the Unlocked GSM Moto X from Moto Maker? Or should I get Verizon again since I did get the previous one with a 2 year contract? I'm asking because I dont want Verizon to charge me the $350 for leaving contract. Or will they?
I do plan on rooting
If you're on Verizon, your only choice is either the Verizon one or the Verizon Developer Edition.
Since I never activated the phone before return/exchange, will I still be paying monthly for Verizon? They don't have my phone's IMEI or ESN or anything.
If you have an active plan with them right now, yeah. They don't care if your phone is working or not. They're still gonna charge you. If you're a new customer and you don't want to use their service, call and cancel and tell them you're returning the phone to Motorola (or listen for their instructions).

I called Verizon and they said that there's no account in their system because I never activated service. They still will charge?

I'm so confused. You bought the phone but didn't sign a contract? Then you have nothing to worry about. If you don't want to use Verizon, return it to Motorola and call it a day. After that you can order any model you want (if they let you).

If you're a new customer or just signed a new contract, it sounds like you're within the period to return the phone and cancel. Just ask them what they need.

G973U on Spectrum Mobile

Hey guys! Can anyone offer any insight on this?
I recently bought a new G973U from a seller on eBay, in hopes of using it on Spectrum Mobile. Trying to activate the device over the phone the CSR informed me that the IMEI is coming up that the phone is not compatible on the network.
AFAIK, Spectrum Mobile is an MVNO on Verizon's network, and I thought a factory unlocked G973U works on Verizon. Am I wrong?
The S10 through Spectrum are still $750, so ain't no way in h3ll that I'm paying that for a year old phone, so I scooped this one up $250 cheaper on good ol' fleaBay. Did I just screw myself? I can still return the phone to the seller, but before I do that, I'd like to see if there's other options here...
Should I try to activate it on Verizon first? I still have service through VZW with a Pixel 2 XL. Should I call them and say I want to switch devices to this S10 and see what happens? Are there other possibilities?
TIA
