Hi Guys,
I purchased a Note 8 (950F) through Gumtree and although I knew it had the Telstra firmware,
I figured I'll just flash the regular Australian XSA unbranded firmware via Odin
and get rid of the Telstra branding as I have done in the past with other Samsungs.
Currently I use an Optus sim (which works) but have lost VoLTE and WiFi calling.
I have tried searching through these forums for a solution but can't get a clear answer.
When I flash the unbranded XSA firmware (BL, AP, CP and CSC, NOT Home_CSC)
I still get the Telstra branding and the software info remains on TEL/TEL/TEL.
Is this normal now? Are we forced to buy a phone from a network carrier if we want to use their services?
Or is there a way to make the switch but I am just overlooking something.
I don't want to root the phone or install anything custom as this will break some banking apps that I'm using.
Please help...
Currently I'm on XEF/XEF/VAU because just upgraded to Oreo, the original CSC is VAU/VAU/VAU
0. Backup your data
1. Download New Zealand or other country firmware.
2. Take both SIM and SD card out.
3. Flash the firmware of other country using CSC, not home_csc
4. Then check your CSC, should be changed.
I did't test the following steps, but I will try this weekend.
5. Flash back to Australia firmware.
6. Check the CSC number, should be changed to XSA
7. Insert SIM card.

Thanks for your input, I was considering this as I want Oreo as well but not game enough to try and mix other countries CSC's yet.
I read somewhere that Oreo will be widely available for most countries as of 1st of April, so I might wait till then and try again.
This does NOT necessarily mean Oz...
Remember, we are at the end of the list to get it as our stupid legal system upheld some patents on icons that Apple took out...
Also, if you're with any of the Telco's, add at least 6 months to that date...
Did you ever manage to get this sorted out? I'm in a similar boat to you, I have an Optus device but a Telstra Sim, when using the Telstra sim, I have no option for VoLTE, but when I use my Optus sim I do. Would like to get VoLTE and other features working on my Telstra sim.
Hi, since the combination file method of changing CSC no longer works, is there any other way of changing csc within OXM (from 1 csc in oxm to another in oxm) using Odin? Since I heard that the sim card method doesn't always work. Thanks in advance!
I have also heard you can flash something outside of oxm and flash back in, but then how will you select which csc in oxm to use? Thanks so much
HI everyone,
I have a G970F/DS that has come with XSG firmware and I am trying to change the firmware to XSA
According to the image here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/how-to/g973f-g973n-multi-csc-firmware-t3903050
For OXM multi CSC
SM-G970FXXU1ASAT-G970FOXM1ASAT
SM-G970FXXU1ASBA-G970FOXM1ASBA
The XSG is in the OXM multi CSC and XSA is in the single - I do not know what this means exactly.
I have tried
Using the *#272*IMEI# code with both IMEI codes, but i do not get a menu after typing it in
Flashing with new firmware from http://updato.com/ with Odin with the sim card in and out
Formatting the device using recovery mode with the sim in and also out+putting it in after
Using Odin to flash VD2 firmware and then back to the OXM firmware
When I flashed VD2 I got VD2/VD2,VD2/XSG in the software information but this went back to XSG/XSG ,XSG /XSG after flashing the OXM firmware
The sim card I am using is an Australian one from Optus and Odin is 3.13.1
Nothing seems to change to XSA.
Am I doing something wrong or is there something else I need to do?
Thanks

You can try inserting a Singapore SIM to see if it triggers Late Customization prompt to reset phone to XSP. 272 menu works in XSP

I don't have a Singapore Sim but I will see if I can get one to try with.
Do I need to reset the phone with the sim in or will the phone ask me when I put the sim in if I want to reset it?
Which IMEI is best to use with 272, does it make a difference?
Thanks for the suggestion

It should prompt you, but you can also try resetting in the recovery menu. I have always used IMEI 1 with 272
Worked for me!!!

WORKED PERFECTLY on my S10!!!
Changed CSC code from ZTO (Brazil retail) to ZVV (Vivo) after flash CHT firmware (from Chile).
I don't know why, but 4g+ from my operator (Oi - Brazil) doesn't work on ZTO -- br retail (it gets only 4g), but in CHT/ZVV it works 4g+ flawlessly!!! Despite Vivo's logo, I'm so happy!

Once you flash a Multi-CSC and your active SIM is within the said list then it would restart and make the changes.
So if you want to move to a different CSC then just use a different SIM that has the specific you need.
Hi Guys,
I have tried several methods and combination to change my CSC but no success yet. I have below issue :
1. I had initially DBT CSC
2. After June firmware, I changed my CSC to BTU
3. NOw i want it change to DBT but not able to do so
I installed XID (indonesian) firmware that changed my CSC but then I flashed again DBT firmware and CSC was automatic set to BTU. I didnt event got the option to select the sim service right after boot.
I tried it with different firmwares and all results in BTU.
I also tried removing sim while flashing but nothing helped. Was there any change in June firmware that permanently set by CSC to BTU no matter which firmware i flash, if it is multi csc, it is always by default set to BTU.
Hope to have some genious ideas on changing my CSC.
thanks,
If i remove my sim card and do a factory reset and insert another country's sim card will my phone csc changed to that country's csc? Because by flashing with odin it doesn't change the CSC

yes , than csc detected via ur sim card
Eeeerm, to my knowledge, this hasnt worked since the introduction of Android 10.
I bought a Vietnam phone csc, and it did not switch to my sim csc.
This method, and the dialer code one are gone.
No it won't. You need to get Samkey account. I also did it with Samkey. Bought phone from another country and change it to mine. I have spare account with credit in it if you are interested.

that way if u wana keep ur current sim card .
he want to use another sim card like for example :
if u are living in india and use indian sim card than u cant change csc and will detect indian sim card csc.
if u are living in india and u use german sim card than ur csc changed to DBT and receive OTA from germany .
WE CANT CHANGE CSC IF WE USE SAME SIM CARD FROM THE REGION WE LIVING.
ONLY VIA SAMKEY THAT NOT ALLOWED AFTER AUGUST PATCH FOR S21 ULTRA.

I'm from Brunei my current csc is Singapore XSP and they release firmware very slow. I wanna change to XME which is malaysia and i have an malaysia sim card with me. I just need the phone to be in XME to receive software updates faster. By formatting and backing up again will take kinda lot of work. Just need a confirmation if i put that malaysia sim card after a factory reset will it change from XSP to XME..

As i said, that didn't even work for me on my Note 9 with Android 10, apparently it worked up to Android 9, but i am not sure about that either.
If i recall correctly, the only time when someone can change the CSC is within a country from Branded (Vodafone i.e.,) to Unbranded, and yet again i am not sure.
I know for a fact that you cannot just CHANGE THE CSC anymore. Not with SIM, not with Odin and not with the dialer codes. If you are on January/February firmware, i think you can still use the dialer code, but you cannot downgrade anymore due to the bootloader incrementation.
Currently your only bet is SamKey, i used it like the other user did too. It's a highly unfair method from a dev that sought the opportunity to make some money. And you need to be on May firmware for that, but luckily you can downgrade as May uses the same bootloader as the latest October build, and that may change very soon.

@emirefek offered you something above. For changing CSC with SamKey, you actually need just 1 credit. The dev does not sell anything under 45 if i recall correctly. On ebay however, people resell 15 of them in one package. It's infuriating but hey, it's the only solution out there.
I did mine from a friend, where he made me share my USB port over the internet. Forgot the damn name of the app but it was mindblowing that something like that exists.

Simple answer. No. But XSP and XME are in the same multi-csc group OXM so you can change by doing the dialer thing. If you look at your software information you will see this line.
XSP/XSP,XSP/XSP/xxx
There 4 csc for phones from XSP. If your phone is directly from samsung ... its xsp but the opetators' phones have different csc.
Xxx will change according to the SIM. But I am not sure if it will allow your phone to OTA according to xxx. I suspect even if you xhange csc this line will be
XSP/XSP,XSP/XME/xxx
The easiest way is to download releases for CSC DBT and odin.

Correct at the moment is XSP/XSP,XSP/XSP/XSP
You mean download DBT csc firmware to flash? Will it affect ota updates?

No. But DBT will have monthly updates so DBT will always be ahead of XSP so XSP OTA will be older than DBT.
So if your phone is following dbt releases, you will never ota... with xsp.

You will still get ota. If xsp ota is newer than what is in the phone. But if you keep flashing dbt, the xsp ota is never newer so ota not necessary
Flashing will not change csc
