Hope this isn't an omen or anything but I decided to try the fingerprint sensor and the phone requires you to set up any of the locks to do that so I picked the PIN code. Four digit number, entered it in twice, then the phone became unresponsive and went dead . Tried holding down the power button for a LONG time but nothing. Tried holding power and the Bixby button and nothing. About 2 or 3 minutes later it came back to life but no lock protection was saved. Just now re-did the PIN code and the fingerprint recognition and it *seems* to be working but that's still really troubling to have it go dead like that. Anyone else notice anything on theirs?
Could be just a random crash, nothing to worry about unless it starts to do it often, at that point it's off to warranty.
Also had a crash setting up the fingerprint sensor, although only when I first tried to use the sensor. Yikes

Basically I had a look about here and can't see anyone else with the same issue.
I've not long had the phone and the other night I had a call quite late saying I'd been phoning them 5 times. I'd locked my phone but when I looked at it it was awake and unlocked.
I can lock my phone (hold down the end call key) but with a bit of movement to the phone it brings up the unlock screen and unlocks itself.
This also happens if I lock the phone and turn off the screen with the power button. After a little shake about the phone will turn on and unlock itself.
You can imagine the problems this can cause whilst in my pocket.
I've not messed with the firmware yet or even any registry entries, it's as it was from HTC.
I am having this same issue with mine. I hold down the End key for a few seconds to lock, it locks successfully, but if I move my finger a bit and touch any other part of the surface it unlocks almost instantly. Sometimes the lock remains, but it's more likely that it will get unlocked.
I tried using TouchLockPro, but that didn't seem to help me much (it seems like it's not even functioning, actually). I'm running A.Z.T.O.R. V7 WWE ROM.

Have you tried going to settings then hitting "key lock". On the screen that comes up check the first option "lock all buttons except power button".
Works fine for me - when I switch off screen using power button everything is locked (buttons and screen) until I hit power button again or I get an incoming call.
Mine is set to that, but it doesn't seem to have much effect.
Sometimes I will hit the power button to shut the screen off and later when I pull it out of my pocket the screen is on and something (e.g. Calendar, System Time, etc) is open. During the period it was in my pocket I received no calls or texts.
When I try to hold the end key to lock the phone, it will lock it for ~1 second and then automatically unlock it. Doing it a second or third time will usually get a lock that "sticks" (at least for a while).
There has to be a good solution for this out there, but I've tried PocketShield and TouchLockPro without luck.

Diamond unlocks itself
I have this problem as well. I went to a meeting, locked my phone and it made 20 calls to my friend abroad, so I am really pissed, it happened before but I thought it was because it got knocked in my handbag.- Please help
Also my battery life has depreciated in a big way, at first 24 hours , 4 months later I'm lucky if it's lasting 6 hours and that's without making a call. I've turned of wi-fi, 3G etc. What is happening
Use sensorlock its great if you set it to unlock when you take the stylus out and relock when u slide it back in

TouchLockPro should just work. In post #5 alternatives are mentioned (and also why the built-in Windows Mobile lock is not a solution for your problem)!
Hello, I have my moto G 2014 for about 2 weeks now (full stock, never even connected it to the PC). A few days ago sometimes when I lock my phone by pressing the power button the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. The side buttons both work but nothing happens as I tap the screen, I can't unlock it or shut down. Then, out of nowhere it starts to work briefly, and I can shutdown only, not unlock.
But this time it rebooted and remained unresponsive, I can input 2 of the pin numbers and then it goes unresponsive... RMA?
Thank you
This dont look like a problem before..... You seem to be the first one with this problem. Have you ever dropped your phone? Or installed something wierd? Can you also tell what you did before when this problem came?
The phone is imaculated, never droped it. The first signs were after I installed Swiftkey, the key to change between numbers and symbols was not responding. Now sometimes the screen is all unresponsive, other times the top bar can be accessed, other times the menu keys don't work. I did a factory reset, after much struggle to get to the Config. menu, rebooted to the same issue.

I wouldn't loose to much time, trying to hunt down the problem. Sounds like the digitizer is broken. Unless you use your phone only while connected to the charger. Most chargers will emit a low electrical field that makes it almost impossible to operate the touchscreen. If this is not the case, replace the device.
It's not connected to anything right now, the top bar and 3 menu buttons are working but the rest is dead, can't swipe the screen or select any app, not even the app drawer. I guess it's RMA time.
Yea seems like a good idea, its a great device. I hope your warranty is still working
Hey everyone,
I encrypted my phone and installed MobileIron to get work email and calendar. Ended up removing it all and decrypting phone after a few weeks. Since then, my phone isn't locking when the screen times out. If can be sitting with a black screen, but soon as I touch the home button it's awake and ready for action. It seems to lock eventually after sitting for an indeterminate amount of time.
Where the heck is the setting to control how long the phone waits before locking (requiring swipe or pin, not just turning off screen)? I know when I had the phone encrypted I found it and changed it to like 15 minutes so I didn't have to enter my 8 digit pin every couple of minutes, but now that its decrypted I am either blind or that setting is gone....
Thanks in advance.

First thing is to go to settings > lockscreen > screen lock and change it to pin or swipe or something other than swipe until your device recognizes when you've locked it. If it starts locking with the pin engaged go back and turn it to swipe and see if it locks on its own again. Second I imagine that it locks when you press the power button to turn the screen off? Set your screen timeout to an obscenely high number so that you remember and get in the habit of locking the device by pressing the power button. This is just for habit because Android (the base system) engages the lockscreen when the power button is pressed and the screen is on. If you are running a custom ROM you could dirty flash to put system settings back to default and if you are on stock out of the box you may have to factory reset to get settings back to their default state. I know that last one is less than optimal, but if the first two options (changing the lockscreen type and locking manually) are not a good work around then you will either have to do the encryption routine again to see if it fixes it and if it doesn't then you may have to factory reset.
Hey, so my phone has been working fine and then all of a sudden I tried to double tap to turn the screen back on and it didn't work. So I pressed the power button and the screen turned on but I couldn't drag to unlock the screen. I tried tapping all over the screen and dragging and nothing make it unlock. I held the power button down and tried to select to power off, power off and restart, airplane mode, or cancel and none of them worked either. I took out the battery and put it back in and still nothing. The touch screen wouldn't register my inputs but would instead register random inputs throughout the screen and then stop doing that. I took the battery out and put it back in and even in TWRP it would register random inputs and then stop doing stuff altogether. I don't know what the heck to do.

Turn off your phone and inspect the screen. You may have some spot of oil that causes multiple touch inputs. Other temperature conditions that introduce condensation can have the same effect.
If not hardware, try to get to your recovery with and and make a backup first.
I recently purchased a Moto E5 Plus directly from Sprint. After taking the phone out of the box and going through the initial setup (connecting to wifi, adding gmail account, fingerprints, etc), I noticed the phone took a long time to wake up after tapping the lock button (approx 9 seconds). After a factory reset, clearing the partition, not adding a gmail account during setup and running the phone in safe mode, the problem still persists and the phone takes the same time to unlock. It does not seem to matter if I use the fingerprint scanner or the lock button to wake the device, it still takes far too long. I also noticed that if I use the fingerprint scanner multiple times while the phone is waking up, the phone will turn off and reboot. I also tested and confirmed that having an alarm go off that wakes the phone will play the alarm properly at the correct time but instead of the screen turning on and making it possible to turn the alarm off, the phone reboots. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed each of the firmwares found at mirrors (dot) lolinet (dot) com/firmware/moto/hannah/official/Sprint without any change. I have also tried adding wakelocks, no change in performance. I have no SD card in the device and only the SIM card that shipped with the device.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions outside of what I've tried above.
New update: the screen does not turn on at all anymore but I can hear the reboot sound and the phone vibrates like it is on. Returning for a warranty now.
