Hello,
Just curious from people that may have tested both. How does the battery compare between the two? I just ordered the S10 but am second guessing due to the size of the battery in the Plus. The smaller pixel the battery is trash compared to the XL. Was wondering if the same is the case for the S10 vs the S10+
Thanks

I think it is going to be a little more than try, return and upgrade to compare the difference. Hopefully someone has tried both through multiple charging cycles because that's what it takes for a battery to settle in.

Yeah I'll probably try the s10 for a week then decide. All the reviews I've watched are on the S10+. Not many reviewing the S10.
I'm hoping the S10 has decent battery. Had the note and 6t. It's been a while since I've had a smaller phone. I want to try.

I ordered the S10 hoping I would get at least what I got on the S9. Every now and then I don't make it through a day with the S9 but I mostly do. I'm hoping with the slightly larger battery in the S10 vs the S9 I may see a little improvement. The S10e is the size phone I wanted and has the flat screen, but the smaller battery drove me away from it.
I haven't compared but right now I'd say the batterife on my plus is not as good as I was hoping. I've had it since March 6th and it's been worse than my Note 9 and way worse than my Huawei Mate 20 pro. I hope it gets better with time. My pixel 3 was horrid for the first week or so but improved dramatically soon after

Any updates? Just got it and it's only 5 hours screen on time, waaaay worse than my POCOPHONE. Is there any difference after a while? Thanks
I'm not impressed at all with my S10+
Way worse than I expected
Here is mine, been on battery for over 24 hours with AOD on from 7am to 1am. 2 sim cards in the phone. On WiFi mainly. Browsing forums and watching YouTube vanced dark mode, Samsung browser on dark mode most of the time. I think mines not too shabby, ive seen someone get 15 hours, don't know how. As long as I can get through a day with the battery I'm ok.

5 hours SOT? I've seen tests over 8. And my Poco has 8+ hours. I was expecting at least the same
Content with my S10+ SD - stil selling it, but otherwise no complaints. I use bluetooth (Galaxy Buds) regularly for calls and music. This was a lighter day for me. Owned the phone since launch.
https://imgur.com/a/HttyUWL
I average about 4.5 SOT with 17-19 hours up ok my SD S10.

Unfortunately I ended up returning my s10. Battery life was never that great and I was impressed with the phone over the Note 9. Think I'm just gonna wait for the Note 10 at this point.
Related
I just heard that the Note 9 will not have the finger print scaner in the display? I know that this could be false. But looking at the S9 how is looks exactly like the S8 is horrible. They also say the Note9 will be smaller than the Note8. If this is the case I will be passing on the Note 9. I will not be pulled into what Apple has been doing for years. Make a different phone every year or I will pass!! I refuse to pay $900 dollars for the same phone. Just throwing this out there because what Samsung did with the S9 is sad. Sorry I put this in the wrong section
I'll be passing on the Note 9 regardless. I see no point in upgrading every year, especially how much phones costs now, changes are usually minimal. Same goes for Android versions. Everyone was so hyped about upgrading to Oreo from Nougat & for what? Plus being number "10" there should be many things worth waiting for, so I hope.
No matter what, I am going to wait for the note 10, for me, the note 8 is a really fine device, a real improvement over the note 7, which I also have, so, I will wait for the note 10
I had my Note 4 more than 3 years, I will not upgrade my Note 8 for the next 3 years for sure - hello "Note 11"
The display is at maximum already, increasing the resolution or making it brighter is pointless for me. CPU will be fine for the next 3 years. The camera is ok for a smartphone, I don't think they will/can increase the quality by a lot in the future - it's simply limited because of the physics. The only thing that will degrade in the future is the non-replaceable battery, too bad we can't replace it.
I will probably keep my Note 8 N950N for a while until it starts to fail. The only reason I uograded to the Note 8 is because I couldn't get any reception on my Note 4 N910C.
I'm about to snatch up a Note 4 in 2018!!! ?

You are 100% right with Oreo. I couldn't wait then I got it and it was nothing. Hope the Note9 looks different enough to put down almost a grand?
I too will pass on the Note9. But I'm worried that the Note10 will leave the 3.5mm jack.

Bluetooth headphones are getting better and better unless you're that picky and want wires hanging from your ears. Honestly to me when I see people with wired headphones I think of people using cassette tapes. It's a old technology and soon it will be gone. But everyone has their own preference. Have you tried out some new Bluetooth headphones lately? If not give them a try it might change your mind.
Ya I've tried a few Sony WH-1000XM2, Sennheiser Momentum Wireless and AKG N60NC. Their okay. They're lacking in soundstage, separation, detailed mid-range (voices) and imaging. I still find that my 8 year old Shure SE535 bests those 3 wireless headphones by a lot. Though it is paired with a Oppo HA-2SE.
I have to admit that wires do get annoying especially when taking them out of your pocket. I'd gladly replace all my IEMs and headphones with one wireless that excels at those five categories. If anyone can recommend please do so.
Thanks
some of the newer "jack free" phones give you an adapter, so you can still plug in your wired headsets..I assume this will be the way most OEMS handle this for the next few years..
For the first time, I have fully settled into not upgrading.. From the leaks (I take them with a grain of salt), nothing exciting. And like others mentioned, the new features, really are these days, nothing that special. And then, we all know updates are poor terrible.. The only thing that kind of made me excited, was the talk of a larger battery..

Agreed with this but I doubt the Note 9 Large Battery would solve any thing.
The S9 Plus has 3500 Mah Battery (200 More than the Note 8) and it lasts for 4 - 4:30 Hours of SOT at Max brightness , just as Much as the Note 8. People thought the S9 Plus would have better battery but It lasts just as much if not less. The screen PPI Consumed that 200 Mah.
Also The Note 9 Will have more PPI (Pixel Per Inch) Than the Note 8. I doubt any one would care, but the Battery life will be Also consumed through it.
So Don't expect much from the battery. Maybe 30 Minutes more than the Note 8 at its best.
Also Crown UX and S Pen features Will come to the Note 8 Through Android P.
There is barley any thing to talk about in The Note 9, No doubt it will be better than the Note 8 but like 10% , Not really worth it if you wait another year for the Note 10 or Android P.

While wireless headphones are nice for a gym workout or a run around the block, without a dedicated connector, you can't charge your phone and listen to music with wired headphones at the same time. I have found that wireless headphones don't usually last through the many hours needed when traveling long distance ie. Intercontinental flights. A few hours of waiting at an airport prior to flight, plus add to that 7+ hours in-flight will not last most wireless headphones out there. You'll be without music way before you get there. This would not be a problem with a wired headset since you can charge phone in plane as you listen to music endlessly. Those of us who travel frequently know this rather well. Also, having to constantly recharge your wireless set can be a pain. I have run out of charge in the middle of a nice workout, something which would never happen with a wired headset.

I will also pass the Note 9 this year, i'm pretty sure the Note 10 next year will be the real upgrade for the Note 8, since it will be the 10th Anniversary for the Galaxy S line, so the Note 10 will get all that or even more.

Propably expect 4k screen finger print on display (or foldable Note phone that transforms into a tablrt
, now that would be terrific).
Thats more worth a grand than the Note 9
I really would not like a foldable screen, it will not be cristal, but a very scratch-prone plastic one!

Hello,
i love my Note8 but as i came from the Xiami Mi Max 3 i'm not really satisfied with the battery. But the Note9 is way to expensive at the moment and ( for me ) not a better device than the Note 8 beside the better battery.
I have found on aliexpress a battery for the note 8 with a 3800mah instead the 3200mah from Samsung. Anyone tried this battery yet? The 20% bigger capacity would be a huge improvement for battery life.
Probably fake, but its certainly unsafe to do it, you might cause a lot of problems this way - even destroy a phone .
Try keeping your battery between 20 and 90% and you might get longer lasting battery.. That's just it, dont experiment with these sorts of things like battery capacity...

I think the battery life is pretty decent already, you could just get a powerbank if you are that concerned, I would suggest that over you putting a questionable battery in, all while probably ruining the IP68 in doing so.
I Tried 2 bigger than original batteries in the past for a S3 and a Note 3, first, these batts lack the NFC and wireless capabilities, second, they were not even near the advertised capacity, furthermore, they failed miserably in less than 2 months
What the others said, but also, the batteries are, for all intents and purposes, none-replaceable. It's not as simple as opening the back cover and swapping out the battery. There's a lot of work involved in doing it and you could potentially damage your phone just from this process, much less even the battery itself.
I don't recommend you try this.

As I did not want to surrender my device, yes, I used bk disabler to avoid any firmware update, but, just as a precaution, because here in Mexico the largest carrier, Telcel did not force anybody to exchange the device, in fact, you could keep it and in the event of it catching fire or anything of the sort, they would then exchage it for any other device, provided the warranty period still alive
Telcel gave you a very good deal here. Whenever you are ready to convert your Note 7 into self-destruct (nuclear bomb) mode, I'm sure this forum has several interesting ideas. On an unrelated note (no pun intended): Have you ever taken this phone on a flight before? If so, have you had any hassle doing so?
I recall in 2017 when I was re-fueling my car at a local petrol station here in Jamaica (not self-serve, but a pump attendant). A pedestrian (on foot) was on a phone call on a Note 7. I instinctively started my car, slammed it in gear ,floored the accelerator, leaving my gas cap, and forgetting to pay the fuel bill. I was determined not to die that day.
Hello, i want to upgrade my phone. I can get the s10 or s10e, both exynos and with the buds. But i read it has awfull battery life, is this for all exynos device or is bad just for some units? I have a Xperia z2 and i get like 20 hours of battery with 4.5 hours sot, if i get less i dont think if gonna be a upgrade, the xperia is a 5 five years old device, i dont want less for a new phone. Thanks
This is regular s10 exynos 128gb, judge for yourself.
I don't play games so keep that in mind.
A few apps like Facebook etc disabled, wqhd, adaptive power saving on.
Hi man, there a lot of posts of battery life. Just take a look.
People are making around 5-8h depending on use.
I'm going a lot of game and last 6h+ hour.

3h:41..that's terrible with 20% left. That's not even close to decent battery life.
I thought Samsung fixed their catastrophic Exynos power management from last year's S9, but it seems not.
I also have an S10, and despite I have many apps blocked from background, no AOD, display at default FHD+, I do not get more than 4h SOT on LTE, which is terrible.
I have a Pixel 3 XL. Should I upgrade to the 4 XL? I love my phone, don't really care about the 90hz display, don't care about soli or face unlock. I do like the lack of the notch but my real reason would be the battery life. Has anyone went from the 3 XL to the 4 XL and noticed an improvement in battery? I know opinions are subjective but do the 200Mah increase in battery and new processer make a good impact on battery life? Any opinions or insight are greatly appreciated!

I did, but only because after one year, I got a REALLY good trade value for the 3XL and the 4XL was $200 off. (do not trade-in at Google) For about the first week I had it, I was jonesing for my old fingerprint sensor. Then face unlock got really good. Eerily good, like if I look at my phone on the stand or even laying flat on my desk, it unlocks. Screen is absolutely gorgeous and sharp as a tack. As for battery, I think the 4 is slightly better. With the 3 after 12 hours at work, I would be down to 20% on average, sometimes less. With the 4 that is now averaging mid-30's. Scientific.... no, but after using the 4 for 4 solid months it is never as low as the 3.. Could be the 3 was a year old... could be my 4 had 106% batttery capacity (Accubattery) when I bought it, but on measure it feels a bit. Should boil down to money. If you can sell your 3 and get a $200 deal or better off the 4 then go for it. If you are looking to just trade into Google and get boned on price, then I would wait for deep discounts when the 4a's arrive. Hope this helps.

Extremely helpful, thank you!
I get better on the 4XL but it's not a big difference. In both cases turning off AOD added 30ish minutes of screen; they really need to improve on that. I otherwise have everything on both now and then and end up around 4 to 5 hours on an average day of mixed use which is about 30 more than before with the 3XL. For me this is good enough since phones charge so quickly nowadays and I'm usually by an outlet and otherwise have a 10k brick in my messenger bag when I'm going to be flying and that sort of thing. Not that I wouldn't take more but I can work with what that.

I upgraded from the 3XL and never regretted it. It's the last Google flagship for a while at least, so if you find a good deal, go for it! Battery is slightly better, but the overall experience is way better in my opinion, although these things are very subjective.
PS: You don't have to put up with the notch by the way. Use the settings in Developer Options to cover it.

I've no idea if that is true or not; people have lots of different usage cases and will get different screen times. I tend to run at the bottom of the pack with every phone I own, I like to use my toys so I don't turn much of anything off and have a smartwatch and other devices constantly in use. It isn't really surprising that I dont do as well as the ordinary owner.
I've got to agree with the fellow above though, the 4XL is significantly better in use. It isn't any one thing I'd point at, everything is a little step better. If the phone had been released at mid range pricing to match it's rather modest spec it would have been the hottest phone of 19 and had rave reviews.
Ive had my S20 FE for about 2 and a half months now and the battery has been sufficient for my usage, in the last 2 days however, it has just been dropping like mad. Facebook was the largest batty consumer at 18%, but that didnt seem out of the ordinary in comparison to the other times ive looked at my battery management. I just turned it off for about 30 min or so and charged it with it off until around 70%
Not sure if this was a one off weirdness type of thing or not, but symptoms like these dont usually bode well. Anyone else run into this yet?

I'm having bad standby drain for some reason since the last 3 days on android 11. The battery curve was flat before that during standby.
I believe it's Google Play Services & its buggy updates
