PossI've brick situation - T-Mobile LG G6 Questions & Answers

I replaced the USB charge port in the phone. It will not boot up I may have bricked it. It makes the charger connected noise if you hold down power button long enough and if you pull the battery cable off of the board and reattach it will vibrate and try to boot. I have tried to do a soft reset and a hard reset. I tried putting old us back in phone but still won't boot. Because of the vibration and the beep I don't think it is fried all the way and I am hoping someone has advice because I can't find any thing with google

Button ROM reads wrong battery power.

Hi,
I want to update my ROM from a standard WM5 to WM5SE rev 5.0. Following instructions, I downgraded with the button ROM to let me CID unlock my G3 Jammin. The butotn ROM installed, but when it reset it would not boot and both the red and blue lights would flash together, the screen would flash on, and then it would shut off.
This pattern is repeated every couple of second and doesn't stop until I pull the USB cable out, after which it repeats once more then switches off. I can't turn the phone back on with the power button. From here I can get back into the locked cycle by powering on with the USB cable plugged in (back into reset cycle), or into windows with the mains power cable (see below).
I think this means that the problem is related to my USB cable being plugged in. When I put the mains power cable in, the PDA will boot into windows. Related to this is what I think may be the main culprit. In setting, Windows says the battery is on 0%!!! Even the mains power cable doesn't seem to ever charge it, so I think it must be a software problem related to the ROM. Inceidentally, I recall that I had to softreset near the end of Button ROM's install, perhaps this is part of the problem...
Now I can reinsert the USB cable only during the Windows boot process, which as mentioned has to be initiated with the mains power cord, ie. I swap over half way through. If I change from mains power to USB after Windows has fully booted then the phone resets and the above reseting cycle occurs again.
Once Windows is fully booted with the USB cable in everything is stable and Activesync detects the phone. The problem is that when I try to reinstall a stable ROM, the update software throws the following error: Error [220] mains battery power. So the software I believe is reading that the battery is less than 50% (ie. probabaly thinks there is 0 charge left) and I can't reinstall a new ROM!!
The other thing to note is that I can get into bootloader mode with the mains power cable, but as soon as I try to switch over to the USB cable, the phone resets and it again gets locked into the perpetual reset cycle.
Please help me!! Any ideas are appreciated.
Gavin.
Hi,

Seems like a similar problem. He solved it by replacing the battery. Is it possbile to destroy a battery while flashing a ROM?

Same problem again:

Wow 40 views, and not a single idea?
Well I think I'm going to invest in a cradle, so that I can have both mains power and a usb connection, hopefully I'll be able to reflash with this. Anyone have expereince with this method? What is a good cradle?

Diamond wont charge with dead battery

Nightmare.
Got my Diamond today, and charged it up.
It ran out 5 minutes ago, so I plugged it into the mains charger.
It vibrates, shows HTC and then gets stuck in a constant reboot. It's like it gets a little charge, uses it, then restarts the process.
I guess the battery is so dead that even the mains charger cant give it enough boost to start charging.
Help Please
If you only got it today then id be sending it back as it seems to be a faulty unit. Perhaps someone can give you a fix but if it was me, id be demanding a new working unit...you just never know what other faults the phone might have.
Good job I didn't Hard-SPL it straight away.
Damn, Always happens to me.
Are you trying to charge it with the wallcharger or by usb to a computer.
Beacuse if you are doing it by the computer there is an option on the phone that disables charging when conected to the computer.
Good luck dude.
Definately wall charger.
I think it's f(***d
I'll go back to my Kaiser and wait for the Raphael I think.
i would first try to charge the battery device turned off!
i noticed that the led in center button does not blink in the beginning but it should charge!
after a while try a hard reset!
Tried the following:
I cant switch off the device as soon as power is applied via USB it switches on. Tried holding the power button down but nothing.
Tried entering bootloader but same reset loop.
Tried hard reset, gets to grey screen with blue text but then reset loop again.
I tried leaving the battery out for half an hour and trying again but soon as usb is in it powers up and reset loop.
I put a multimeter on the battery and it is dishing out 3.7v as expected.
I think the device is knacked, even though I was using it for most of the day.

Usually a hard reset solves everything (hopefully)

Nope
leave it charging for at least 10 minutes before turning it on.

don't even touch the power button!
the device should not start if you touch nothing and just plug the powercable!?
i don not think that you press the powerbutton accidentally while plugging the cable, i hope i'm right?
Without touching the power button, I plug in the charger and the phone vibrates and starts.
From dead:
1. Plug in charger
2. I get 2 swirls of white on the round button thing
3. Phone vibrates
4. Smart mobility logo shows
5. Phone reboots
GOTO 1:
i miss the touch diamond screening with rom version etc.
normally it shows up before the htc smart mobility screen.
i don't think the battery is the badguy. seems more a fault in ipl or spl?
You're right.
I was wrong when I said smart mobility.
It comes up with TOUCHDiamond across the centre of the screen and right where the little red numbers USUALLY appear in the bottom right, it reboots before that.
To perform a hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see message on the screen
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset
save this info on your computer
Sorted!
I left the battery out overnight, and when I came to work this morning, I plugged it into the charger and it didn't automatically start up so it got a good 3/4 hour charge which then enabled me to fire it up for a full charge.
congrats! i hope for you that this problem doesn't come back!
Sounds to me like it also could have been the power button was jammed pushed in. Maybe leaving it for a while without pushing the button did the trick, allowing it to release itself.
In case that was the problem, keep an eye on the power button in case it seems to be a bit dodgy. If it is going to do it again, then you want to swap it immediately for a replacement brand new unit. After a while, if you try to swap it out, they will give you a refurbished unit, not a brand new one!
Of course it could have just been a software bug, that was cleared by letting it fully power down (as others have said).
Just make your decision quick before you end up with a refurbished model for replacement.
Just to let you all know.
Over the weekend I fully charged my Diamond, and without even making a phone call or using WiFi, Bluetooth or anything the battery lasted 1.5 hours.
It's gone back to clove now for a replacement.
I've seen a few people having this issue so I advise getting it back for replacement asap.
My diamond got very hot during normal use (without charger). Is that normal? Not the battery but the actual device.

Dead Diamond :( no power after unplugging USB

so i am thinking this was a port surge or similar. I had plugged my diamond into my pc (dell laptop) and was only connected to activesync, not flashing nothing.
I uunplugged it to do a reset and go into rom flash mode to load a new rom and it went blank.
the sequence was:
Hold power button down
Got shutdownXP
Chose soft rest
held volume down button
removed usb cable
.....
.........
............
Nothing!
tried leaving battery out, checked power button functionality, pressed reset pin several times both with and without volume and/or power button held.
only thing i have yet to try is another battery which i will do tonight.
has anyone come accross this or have any ideas as to what it may be?
I figure best course of action is to buy new phone and/or source replacement mainboard.
and speaking of new mainboard, anyone know where to get one lol
Update:
Came home and put in original battery, phone started up...great. powered off cleanly, tried the battery it died with and now it's dead again. put original battery back in and it;s dead.
seems strange to me, is there some kind of overload timeout or something? i have three batteries and none work now. will leave it a bit longer again and try again later.
Yeah, if a different battery doesn't make any difference and you can't boot up or anything then you're due for a replacement. Look on ebay if you really wanna get a mainboard.

USB port issues

I appear to be having wired issues related to the USB port as has been previously reported on the Galaxy S2.
When not plugged in to anything, it constantly says it is charging. It will not let me select between USB debugging mode as it says the cable is connected.
Despite it's belief that it is charging, when I actually plug it in to the mains to charge, it doesnt charge!!
If I power off the device, it shuts down correctly, however it will constantly switch between the grey battery icon, then a almost full green one, then off. It then wont allow me to turn on the device. Ive tried plugging it in to the mains (but I guess that as it wont charge this way, this is why it wont let me turn it on this way either) the only way I can boot it up is holding vol up, middle button and power together for 10 seconds or so. It then goes to CWM recover where I can reboot the device
If I plug in a jig, that allows me to connect a USB flash drive, it all seems to work OK. it no longer says it's charging, and i'm able to mount the drive.
The only way I can actually make it charge, is by plugging in to a PC.
Im very careful with my USB connectors, and I can only think that slight dampness may have entered as the phone has been with me in the bathroom during showers.
I dont want to send my phone in for repair, my first plan is to wait it out and hopefully any moisture dries out. Ive tried cleaning the inside of the USB port, but it makes no difference.
If I changed the USB port myself, a) is that a hard task, b) would it solve my issue?
I had a very similar problem with my note.
Solution was to take out the battery and leave the cover off, in a dry p;ace over night. It could definitely be related to dampness in your phone.

[Q] Droid 4 not powering on or charging after battery replacement

A coworker decided to replace the non-user-replaceable battery in his Droid 4 (it's actually pretty simple to do). The surgery seemed to go fine, but immediately afterwards the phone is basically acting as if it doesn't have a battery in it:
'M' logo comes up when plugged in
Holding VOL UP/DN+PWR allows access to the boot menu, but none of those options allow it to boot past the 'M' logo
No response from power button when not plugged in
Immediately powers off when power cable disconnected
I read that a factory data cable might help him, so we ordered one of those. This cable allows the phone to boot now (furthering the suspicion that it doesn't think there's a battery in it - the factory cable is supposed to allow this, and there's just an exclamation point for the battery status), but isn't much help otherwise as data can't be transferred from it. Point being, it's not a software brick - it boots fine with the factory cable.
Could this just be a bad battery or something? Has anybody here ever seen this behavior?
Thanks!

Hi,
It might be a loose connection. Did you make sure that the screws were fastened properly? Also check the battery contacts on the phone and the battery, clean it if necessary.
Are you sure that you didn't bend the battery ribbon cable? It is pretty sensitive, can be damaged by bending.
I'm pretty sure that the phone is OK, it's a battery connection problem.

This is screaming bad battery to me - either it was duff in the first place, or has been damaged during installation. Having said that, I've swapped lots of batteries multiple times, and have never damaged one during removal or installation, so if they were careful I suspect it was bad in the first place.

Thanks for your input guys.
He's ordered a new battery and I'll be the one installing it this time. Will update when we get it in.
