Does anyone know, why Motorola/Lenovo is updating so f***ing slowly?
Security patches from January 2019 - its nearly MAY.
I used to get a new firmware monthly, sometimes after 2 months back on Samsung Galaxy.
But Motorola? F that.

Well the G6 is not a flagship phone. It's budget. I have a G6 play and it's on March security update. Most of the g6 family has gotten March or February with pie

If you have another Android device, you can use it run adb and fastboot with an otg adapter. other than that, just have to sit tight I guess. It will come.

Just got an update but not pie
I'm still on the January Security patches and the TracFone branded Moto G6, or at least mine, refuses to let me flash anything to it. And tracfone shows no indication of ever releasing Pie for this phone. It really sucks.

Hi, Since i see no news about when the Nexus 6 will be released to the public sale, I need to get a phone since a relative is traveling between november 28 and december 6, so this would be my choice, I was wondering if this phone uses stock android, and if it's going to receive fast updates like Moto X, Moto G? I would appreciate your information, thanks!

Probably will, because Moto X and this phone are really similar phones, so don't worry about it.

Thanks for your comment! but this is more like an assumption right? I would not like to buy a phone that will end it up being like a Samsung where updates are not coming after some time :S

Motorola has the Droid Turbo on their list of phones to be updated to Lollipop but there is no ETA yet on when they will happen. Rumor has it that it will be sometime in December but that depends on Motorola/Verizon.
Anybody have any ideas?

when apple releases an update everyone get it. when android get update, it depends on carrier and gotta have an active sim card in it. google and manufacturers please stop bending over.
This sucks.

Well, that fills in the $300 difference not only for the updates but performance and consistency..That's Apple.
I love my S6 but I am not ashamed to admit that Apple Phones are Consistent and that's what makes them Premium over any Android Smart/Windows Smartphones.
PS: Yesterday was devastating...not that it was my Birthday but my non-rooted/untouched S6 thought to f*** it all up with an unexpected Bootloop...lost 27GB worth data and my back up OTG USB stopped working.. :crying: Had to hard reset.. SOB SOB!
Just read an article that said we are getting the update Q2 2016. Fuk.

Yeah, we'll get the update then because we'll also be "updating" the hardware to S7!

Not that MM will likely help, but multitasking and ram management are badly broken on the S6. Running side by side with my $40 off contract moto E, with the same apps open, the moto has fewer app reloads when switching. It has 1GB of RAM. It's running CM13.

Woke up this morning to a update for my Boost mobile Samsung Galaxy S9 ( SM-G960U )
Baseband version: G960USQS3ARIC
I just rebooted. Very quick and fast update. Any questions feel free to ask me. Anyone else get this update this morning??
T-Mobile got a similar update today also.
Nothing here, there was nothing on what it included? The date us so close to the September update, I can't imagine it would be another security update.

The T-Mobile update was pretty much just the Oct security patch from everything I could find. It was a fairly dmall sized update. I forgot to grab a screen shot but I do remember the only notable thing it said was that it was the Oct 1 security patch.

The mysteries of Samsung. They committed to monthly updates that never happened, wait months to actually send a security patch, then actually send another a month later.
I believe it was just security patches. That's usually what they are if they're less than 100mb. And if it updates anything else noteworthy, they usually say so in the patch notes (instead of just saying what it MAY include)
Samsung releases a monthly security patch (well Google does, and Samsung passes it along)
But each months security updates don't always make it to each device because of carrier support. But they're getting better.

Uhh, no. Samsung doesn't pass along every monthly update, at least for the S9 they didn't. There was an update every month but Samsung chose not to pass them along. Also my updates don't come from my carrier but from Samsung. Samsung has stated more than once that they are committed to monthly security uptates but have yet to fill that promise.... We'll see.

They come from Samsung, but they're to some extent tailored to each different carrier (yes, even though the hardware of the devices are identical most of the time) and each different carrier has to sign off on every update.
I've gotten monthly security updates on the s9, minus the first roughly month and a half. http://doc.samsungmobile.com/SM-G960U/SPR/doc.html
(Notice how SPR is in the URL. That's the abbreviation for Sprint, my carrier)

Hello,
So I just order this phone without reading about the poor quality of updates and january and february bootloops. The phone will arrive with 8.1, is it safe to update ? Is it worth to keep or should I stay phoneless(an old nokia that I have might be working) ? I can't cancel the order because the money will be keept for about 30 days(banks this days..).. Even returning it is the same, so I will be stuck with it from monday as I need a new phone asap.
In short, should I install a custom rom, keep the stock 8.1 or risk it and update it? As far as I know it is the global version.
Thanks in advance !
cancel the order and get a nokia if you can if no then stay on 8.1 its better than pie in many ways

It was pulled do to 4G issues as far as I know, but I am a single sim user so I don't mind that bug as it affects dual sim only. Google should pull them out of Android one imo.

But it's just a security patch. It didn't come with any of the fixes and improvements the unlocked version just got a couple of days ago. That's gotta be frustrating.

I noticed that's all it said. It was like 103mb though. Just for a security patch? Why push it out and waste time just having that without the camera fixes.
Received mine as well. Coming from an unlocked Pixel 3 XL, this makes me happy until I notice that it's only the April security patch. I thought OnePlus devices we're almost as fast as Pixel devices when it comes to updates? Also, when are we going to receive the camera update?

Same issue. I've rebooted, I've turned ambient display on and off, and still can't get it working. Double tap to wake isn't working either. Both were working perfect before the update. Thinking I might need to factory reset which I really don't want to do. Any other options I have?

It's because you bought the phone from T Mobile. If you bought the unlocked version from OnePlus you'd already have the camera updates. Might take a couple weeks before Tmobile get it and pushes it out.

tmo for the 6t has been out of date by a few months since the device came out. best option is to convert the device, which can be done.

I appreciate the response. I am debating on returning this device and continuing using my Pixel 3 XL. I know what I'm losing by going back to the Pixel but it's the little things that I miss from it. On top of that, now I am having ambient display and gesture issues with my device after the update. AND I do not have the camera update because T-Mobile.
You might as well hold off for a sec. Now that the MSM tool has been recovered, it's only a matter of time before a patched one is created for T-Mobile. Once that's done, you can convert your T-Mobile one to the International one and get the updates.
