But it's just a security patch. It didn't come with any of the fixes and improvements the unlocked version just got a couple of days ago. That's gotta be frustrating.

I noticed that's all it said. It was like 103mb though. Just for a security patch? Why push it out and waste time just having that without the camera fixes.
Received mine as well. Coming from an unlocked Pixel 3 XL, this makes me happy until I notice that it's only the April security patch. I thought OnePlus devices we're almost as fast as Pixel devices when it comes to updates? Also, when are we going to receive the camera update?

Same issue. I've rebooted, I've turned ambient display on and off, and still can't get it working. Double tap to wake isn't working either. Both were working perfect before the update. Thinking I might need to factory reset which I really don't want to do. Any other options I have?

It's because you bought the phone from T Mobile. If you bought the unlocked version from OnePlus you'd already have the camera updates. Might take a couple weeks before Tmobile get it and pushes it out.

tmo for the 6t has been out of date by a few months since the device came out. best option is to convert the device, which can be done.

You are correct. This is my first OnePlus so I was hesitant to purchase it outright through OnePlus.

I appreciate the response. I am debating on returning this device and continuing using my Pixel 3 XL. I know what I'm losing by going back to the Pixel but it's the little things that I miss from it. On top of that, now I am having ambient display and gesture issues with my device after the update. AND I do not have the camera update because T-Mobile.
You might as well hold off for a sec. Now that the MSM tool has been recovered, it's only a matter of time before a patched one is created for T-Mobile. Once that's done, you can convert your T-Mobile one to the International one and get the updates.

Happens at random on any ROM... Any ideas? Left side doesn't do this but right side freezes. If I lock the screen/turn it off and back on, its fine. Should I RMA it?

Seems for me that the at&t apps I had installed were causing a conflict. I removed them and haven't had the issue since.

Its been happening to me since I got my N6 in November. Its a PITA, but easy to fix by turning screen off then on. Usually happens to me on Instagram or YouTube.

I've had this happen once, stock rom, but rooted. Was in Youtube app. Screen off and back on DID NOT fix the issue, I had to reboot the phone.
Additional info: Bell Canada phone. The half screen doesn't go blank, it does freeze with the last image it had. Right half vertically.

Exactly the same like the phone my friend has, screen on/off will fix it every time.
He found it on kijiji, so not sure what to do now without bill of sale.
My wife's N6 doesn't do that but it is number 3 after 2 swollen batteries.

In that thread motorola confirmed it is an software issue. I am not saying they are wrong nor right, but its a start to figure out what the issue is.
Edit: Can anyone confirm if this is issue only on carrier related models or is it spread out to like GP/Motorola also?

I'm just curious as to which build Google is pushing via OTA. Thanks!
There seems to be some slight speed up of the phone but that might be my imagination. Be interested to see if the battery life has increased as promised under this update. Also if they've squashed the last of the restarts it was still getting, though less so since the last update.

Mine said that for ages & then just to changed to requesting for me to download & install, no intermediary stage if you know what I mean.
I am on 5.0 can't even get any update to 5.0.1!! Anyone in the same conditions? I am expecting not to receive the 5.1 update straight away but 5.0.1 has been out for some time and still haven't got it (I bought the n6 two days ago)
I got the message last night, and went through the motions of downloading and installing.
However, my phone is rooted (though otherwise stock) and when it rebooted, it did so into recovery (TWRP). After rebooting, I'm still on 5.0.1 and the 410.4Mb download is nowhere to be seen on the phone. I've again got the "System update available" message today, but I don't want to go round the same loop again.
Anybody know how to get a rooted phone to 5.1?

I prefer a refined version with fewer bugs than getting it quickly. Heck, it seems they should have held off on lolipop till they got it right. As it stands they are now getting complaints from 2 sides rather than one.

Att isn't refining **** on the software, if anything they are bogging it down with bloatware and spyware. They just don't like pushing updates when they become available for some reason.

Given the known issues with 5.0 I feel carriers will push to get the patches out, hopefully 5.1.1 will roll out very quickly given the issues. I also think the Note 4 5.0 was put on hold, perhaps to go 5.1.1 instead to fix the known issues.

You're right, they don't refine it. They test it, then make Samsung refine it. Then retest it again. Then release it after however many cycles it takes to approve the update refinements. Its not a matter of pushing updates when they become available, but about pushing them when they finally pass ATT quality control.

Don't need to go look at it..... I had the device. I did not experience those issues.
People take an extreme exaggeration on what they believe goes on behind the scenes and base it on their frustrations with a device or experience. Just because there was issues with a release does NOT mean they don't have a QC system in place. You're a fool if you think otherwise. That's like saying that because those Toyotas had the brake issue that Toyota doesn't implement a QC system... When Toyota basically invented the QC system.....

T-Mobile just got ARJ8 yesterday, and it's till October 1 Security Patch.
As far as your question about bug fixes: look at the new of the build. It say S1ARJ9. That S indicates it's ONLY a security patch update. If it had add, removed, or fixed features, it would have been U1ARJ9.

Different SIM cards won't do anything. You still have Sprint firmware, so you still have to wait for Sprint to push the update.
Now with the Note 8 and S8/+, when you switched SIMs it would change the firmware to the new carrier. They did away with that on the S9/+ and Note 9 for some reason.

Hello,
So I just order this phone without reading about the poor quality of updates and january and february bootloops. The phone will arrive with 8.1, is it safe to update ? Is it worth to keep or should I stay phoneless(an old nokia that I have might be working) ? I can't cancel the order because the money will be keept for about 30 days(banks this days..).. Even returning it is the same, so I will be stuck with it from monday as I need a new phone asap.
In short, should I install a custom rom, keep the stock 8.1 or risk it and update it? As far as I know it is the global version.
Thanks in advance !
cancel the order and get a nokia if you can if no then stay on 8.1 its better than pie in many ways
