I'm using a Moto E5 Plus with MetroPCS. My plan ran out today and I don't want to renew it. I'm assuming it's possible, but how could I remove everything related to MetroPCS? I just want a normal Moto E5 Plus image without anything service related.

Ok, So i had the htc one, but the moto x i couldnt help but to get. So i returned my device and got the moto x today in store. Phone was activated and i was on my way. Everything seemed to work fine, data, calls etc. Now i go and power down my device as i do if im at work, when i power it back up, it goes to the hands free activation screen, and then errors. But the device is already activated and works fine. Now i am not in a 4g area, 3g only and was told that if your in a 3g area you need to put the device under mobile networks in cdma mode only. Well if i power down the device and reboot it will go through hands free activation screen everytime. I called sprint store where i purchased device, and he said he powerd down three active moto x devices, rebooted and each came back to the hands free activation screen as mine did. He said he has never seen this happen to any android device on sprint. But planned on emailing someone within the company to get answers. So my question is, have any moto x user on sprint expierenced this?
Did you call tech support from a different phone? I wouldn't wait on the guy at the store.
So I sold my Moto X on swappa and had some issues with the buyer activating the phone. They kept getting a message that said "Sim card from unknown source" with a Verizon sim. I know this happens with sims from other carriers but not from Verizon sims. The phone has a clear IMEI and the account is paid and clear. I recently switched to tmo and thought the porting process was initially the problem. Could it be there is some other hold up on Verizon's end that is preventing the phone from being activated with another account? The phone was working perfectly prior to sending it off and I switched about a day ahead of mailing it out. I don't have access to a verizon nano sim (or account) anymore to test the phone either.
Currently running 4.4 rooted with WP disabled using jcase's method for root and WPNOMORE. Its factory other than that though. I didn't add any user data prior to mailing out and it remains that way. The whole situation has me stumped on what's going on. Do you guys think using RSDlite to go back to a stock 4.4 or 4.2.2 to reroot will fix the issue? I do have access to an ATT nano sim (buddy has a motox) but I don't know anyone with a nano sim from verizon to test the phone. Any help would be great because I'm basically sitting on this phone and have zero use for it.
A new buyer will need to take it to Verizon to get a new SIM. Verizon will do this for free. Even though it seems trivial, they won't put the new SIM onto another account.
Based on my experience with buying a Moto X via Swappa.
Buyer said they tried several new sims and it still had the error. I'm going to see if I can test with my friends iphone5 sim and see if there are any issues. Otherwise I guess no choice but to rsd back to stock or something. Maybe reflash radios.
Sorry if it has been answered. But I am looking at switching to google fi or another carrier from vzw and was wondering if the issue with going from vzw to another carrier and back still requires a factory reset. I have a moto x I can run on vzw for the time being to test fi out on my N6 in my area if I get a invite, but if its no good then I'd like to go back to my N6 on vzw. Not a big deal as I use titanium backup. I'm just curious about it, I didn't know if since vzw has the N6 now, or if 5.1 fixed it.
@6-speed,
No reset necessary to change carriers.
Thanks man!
if you go back to Verizon, then there's a chance that you might have to factory reset. as for some odd reason, som cards dont work on Verizon if the phone was used on a different carrier.
Edit... Nevermind. I unlocked and then used LineageOS. Visualvoicemail app from AT&T working perfectly.
I was given a turbo last week and didn't take the moto update (it already had marshmallow) so I am looking at unlocking it and rooting. My main problem with the phone right now is since I am using AT&T, my visualvoicemail doesn't work. I think this may be due to call forwarding being disabled outside Verizon. Is there a way for me to enable it on AT&T? I figured if there was, it would require root.
I am currently configuring a Verizon Moto E5 play (rjames) for use with an upcoming project of mine. However, cannot pass the Verizon activation screen. Where a skip button would be there is nothing
Could anyone assist me on bypassing this?
(Edit) Should probably mention I don’t use Verizon, and plan on using this device on wifi only
Sorry if anything is unclear, am new to xda
Just hope there is some way
