A strange behavior of my Samsung M10 - Samsung Galaxy M10 Questions & Answers

Hello my dears,
I have a strange behavior of my Samsung M10 that I can not explain, please watch this video:
https:[slash][slash]www[dot]youtu[dot]be[slash]X-0ouhTM7Bw
Please replace "[slash]" by "/" abd "[dot]" by "." :silly: (i can't poste links, new member)
as you can see on the video there is a multiple clicks and slides on the screen of the phone by himself (there is no screen protector i took it off),
About the white dots : i activated an option on the developpement menu of the phone that let us see the position des clicks on the screen.
please someone has an idea about what causing this behavior ?

Did you throw it? or was is dropped from your hand? Or any heavy Pressure on the screen?
Probably your phone got heavy pressure on the display that just cracked the brain of the touch screen.. Better go to an official Samsung customer care center/service center. ☺
It may cost you about 55$ getting a new touch screen.

Yes. The rubber bands forced pressure that damaged the touch..
thr touch screen's price is around 55$.. perhaps they took the service charge or other charge.. 67$ is okay..?

Is my Diamond screen broken/damaged? (pic inside!)

Hey everyone!
Lately my screen has been showing a strange "blur" in the center. The screen works fine (but maybe a litte bit harder to touch with precision in the center).
I removed my screen protector yesterday but the "blur" is still there. I have only used the screen protector that came with the phone (the original HTC)
Please take a look at this picture:

Warranty?
Thanks!

Good luck getting it replaced, see the link posted and you will see its the "newton ring" fault and HTC will want to charge you for it as its classed as "user abuse"
But then "looking" at the phone could be classed as user abuse by HTC......
I've got the same issue but to a lesser extent than you, this is the second time i've had it happen to me.
congratulation you have the famous newton ring
pls inform us what htc told you when you contacted them.
good luck mate
ya i got this to but the precision in the center is still on point...
htc is playing games with the matter, your best bet seems to be in purchasing a lcd n digitizer off ebay,
@ the guy above, why would you congratulate some1 for something like that???
No warranty!
Response from HTC:
Your phone has a fault developed due to excessive pressure. The excessive pressure has caused an air lock between the two screens, resulting in an oily looking square appearing on the screen. HTC phones are tested and guaranteed to withstand a high amount of pressure. Pressures that exceed this will result in the faults you described (an oily looking rectangle under the screen surface). Even though there aren't any scratches on the Touch Pro, the external pressure could be evenly distributed across an area of the screen resulting in air escaping in between the screen layers. As earlier stated this is unfortunately not covered by warranty. The fault is described as a Newton's Ring, and could as well take other shapes than rectangles depending of how the screen is being built. Feel free to read more about the fault on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton's_rings
@xophile:
allways the same lame excuse from htc...
well either you live with your screen (as it is mostly just a visual fault)
or you change the whole screen...
i also have the newton ring and i live with it..

Damaged Digitizer or LCD Screen? Help please :(

Hi,
Last night I knocked a small table and my girlfriends phone and a remote for the TV fell off.
We noticed that her phone now has a ring of black dots on the screen, mostly visible with a white background (E.G websites) but also from the home screen and the like.
We think she's cancelled her phone insurance, as she's never had a payment out to the company.
Can anyone tell me if its a Digitizer (What is one of these? Is it just the touch screen sensitive part of the phone?) Or the actual LCD Screen itself?
If you click on the photo it will load a larger image
Thanks for any assistance, kinda annoyed about this and wondering if I can repair myself with the parts on ebay. Or does anyone know how much HTC Charge to repair similar? Either in $USD, £GBP or €Eur, I can convert and get a ball park figure.
Hi
First of all is the phone still in warranty? If so take it back to an HTC dealer they should repair it for you for free. TD2 screens are not very good and it's a common fault. ( i had to have mine repaired after just only 3 weeks! )
The TD2 screen is made out of 2 parts, The touch screen or the 'digitizer' as you call it and a normal LCD screen underneath. You need to establish which has gone faulty.
If the touch screen still operates normally i.e the screen does not lock up or freeze and allows you to navigate normally then its the lcd screen below. If the touch screen is faulty one good way of checking is to put a piece of tape over the damaged area and try to lift it up a little to see if the marks / dots disappear and functionality can temporarily be restored.
Its hard to tell from your picture which it is..... sorry
I'm not sure how much a replacement by a dealer would cost, but i'm sure you can replace either yourself. ebay is a good place to look
Hope this helps.
I've had a reply from HTC UK who said the following:
That looks like there are a bunch of very small cracks in the screen. the black stuff is likely the Liquid Crystal from inside the display that has leaked out. If the dots get larger then it would definitely seem that the screen has got some cracks in it.
if this is the case, the standard charge for replacing the LCD is around £180 as sadly it is all one complete unit on the diamond 2, so it is not just the LCD underneath that needs to be replaced, but the whole screen assembly including the touchscreen layer and the actual LCD.
I hope this information helps you to make up your mind.
best regards,
Pete W

I'll see if I can find any HTC Dealer who will send it off on my behalf, but may just end up buying this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LCD-Screen-Di...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL?hash=item588362a12d
Hi mate,
had the same problem...
the item you psetd from ebay is not the one you need to change.
you need a digitizer, not an lcd screen.
i got one from ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=290376721935&view=all&tid=393718237019), it includes both the lcd and the digitizer, you can check ebay to find other auctions offering the digitizer only.
you can change the digitizer on your own if you don't mind loosing the waranty of your phone.
cheers
Hi,
I had already found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Touch-Screen-...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL?hash=item5882e7ef74
Will buy in a bit, funds are a bit short today.
The Touch Screen's functionality hasn't changed at all though, no sticking buttons or anything. So I suspect that its the LCD Screen thats damaged but will follow you're advise as you're going to have more experiance than me (and its the cheaper part to begin with!)
Scrap the above post.. my g/f has just told me that the dots on her phone are bigger/worse. Looks like its the LCD Screen afterall
i still believe it is not the LCD.
the digitizer is actually sitted on a glass, and the LCD is below that. it is very difficult to harm the LCD. i also though it was the LCD (at least i wasn't sure which was broken) so i ordered both of them.
if you disasseble the phone you will be sure if it is the LCD or not.
i vote for the digitizer
good luck, if you need any help, i'll be pleased to help you..
Just to update, A few days after I posted and got helpful advice on here.. she called me up to say the dots have disappeared, and they have still gone now a few days after.
She said she put it in the office where she works, under a printer paper tray, and the office was warm. Something has (maybe only temporarily) fixed it.
I´m having the same exact problem my nephew dropped my phone, i already dissemble it because i was not sure of the lcd type, but when i looked at the digitizer i didn´t see any dots, so i´m not sure what to repair, TS or Digitizer, i allready tried with the tape to pull the digitizer, when it was apart i couldn´t see anything on the lcd no marks at all, opinions please.
cheers
Well F**K me! just bought a second hand diamond 2 to replace my xperia...
...seemed to work great checking it out... went home with the phone in my pocket... and as soon as I turn it on the touch screen doesn't work
dissected the whole phone only to discover the digitizer is glued to the bezel!
I ordered this from Ebay, will update if I got it working with the brand new housing + digitizer: http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380166349182&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
fingeres crossed
Please report back here on this thread if it works

If you can make some photos of the digitizer and the lcd dissasembled maybe, but It seems unlikely to break the lcd when you didn't completely trashed your digitizer.

Also the LCD didn´t had any marks at all, but i´m going to buy the TS+LCD and replaced by parts first the lcd because it´s a lot easier to replace then if the problem persists the TS.
I will post the result later when i get the parts to replace.

Can anyone confirm the above link as being both Lcd and Digitizer? I'm sure it doesn't mention it in the listing but the picture looks like it's showing both connectors.
Most likely only the LCD that's my conclusion if you look at the sellers store.
But to be sure e-mail the seller and ask.

Soooooo, as I've already posted here, My digitizer was busted on the phone I just bought... what I didn't tell was that I ordered a digitizer, then checked if I could remove it easily...came to the conclusion that I couldn't... and ordered a digitizer+housing so I could easily fit it on.
the mail brought me the digitizer today, and while knowing a better solution was on it's way I couldn't resist and try if I could make it work.
Turns out it super easy to seperate the digitizer from the bezel using a hairdryer (softening the glue) and a knife:
Take your phone apart, just the 4 screws, click the plastic center off it. Remove the digitizer cable, the touchscreen cable and the speaker cable.
now you are able to remove the green plate which holds all chips and stuff.
underneath that is the screen, lift it up gently going under it from the gap the removal of volume buttons leaves, put it away safely.
Now remove the speaker, the buttons under the zoom bar, and the power button(don't forget the the power button, and rubbery thingy that falls out of the bottom, the hole needs to be at the bottom when putting it back in).
your phone should be completely empty by now... just the front and the digitize glued together.
make the front of the phone reaaaaaaaaaallllly hot, put the knive between the metal and the digitizer (I started at the part where the zoombar is) and gently push it between the two parts... (from the inside of the phone to the oudside). Now just keep the whole thing above the dryer to keep it warm and slowly slice your way around the phone (no secret wires are there that you can cut through).
I used some random glue I had lying around to glue the front back to the new digitizer... perfect!
so the screen is like new now
ps bought this digitizer: http://cgi.ebay.nl/Touch-Screen-Dig...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item45eed6effc
Thanks for that jodeltje.
It sounds exactly the same as when i replaced the digitizer on an Omnia. Really not as hard as one might imagine. Taking your time and being careful are the most important things.
Hey guys,
I came into same boat last night.
Dropped my T-Mobile MDA Compact V from 2.5ft table, Backwards (Not towards LCD) and now it has black dots on screen. I guess the LCD has pressed backwards by chip sets.
Here is a screenshot.
I think its LCD damaged but I don't have cash to replace nor device warranty.
Do you think the problem solves eventually? Coz once I had dropped sony mobile and it too had same issue but solved after many days.
Hopefully it solves.
BTW; does LCD affixed to Digitizer? by seeing service manual, it doesn't look like it is. And I afraid to get cheap hongkong LCD screens for about 30$ since they won't be true quality display. i.e blueish.
Thanks...
Best Regards
hello CRACING,
sorry about what happened to you...
from the picture i can say that you have a problem with the digitizer...
your LCD is ok.
i tend to have this problem over and over again the last 1,5 years... i replace the digitizer (or the glass on which the digitizer is attached to) every 3-4 months..
yes the ones you get from ebay are not that good quiality, but well it keeps the phone working...
if you need assistance on replacing the digitizer, i can help you, by providing pictures and istructions...
cheers

Screen broken..Not sure though

My phone felt from about 5 feet yesterday and i am wondering whether the my initial display (AMOLED) has to be replaced or the front glass. My phone seems to be working great including touch and the display. I ran to Sammy's service center asap and they told me the display has died and it will cost around 8500 INR (~170$). Just wanna make that what avtually has to be replaced.

I don't see the thumbnail, Is your screen smashed? there are ways to replace just the glass, I think there's something in this forum or General walking you through it, However ,I'd not do it..
If the screen is smashed I'd either A) Have SS replace it or B) Buy one and do it myself, However, I'd need to be 110% sure I was comfortablt with the process..
There's also a couple of YouTube video's showing the process for replacing just the glass and also the full screen..
Thanks for replying ..I actually listed my question just to confirm what has to be replaced whole display+digitizer or just the front glass. I do not rely on the service center guyz to be honest. Will service center people just replace the above glass or they will charge me for the whole screen ?

Spen problem/ Calibration

Hi,
Is there a way to calibrate the Spen? Its accurate for about 90% of the screen but when i move to the left most part of the screen it doesnt follow. It stops about 1/4 of an inch and doesnt reach the end of the screen
I dont have any case on it
No screen protectors as well
No magnetic items to interfere with the spen
Tried the "touch all four corners" trick but didnt fix it
Any other ideas?
Thanks
I dont think that the issue is the s pen, it is most likely the screen digitizer, if the s pen was faulty, the problem would arise anywhere on the screen, take your device for warranty claim ASAP
Try changing or reinstalling the SPen tip...

I agree. The walcom digitizer is probably broken.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Tried it with a different Spen from another Note 8. Still the same problem. My digitizer must be broken. Ill send it for repairs. First time to claim warranty on a samsung Note product since the Note 1. Note 7 is an exception since that was just faulty for everyone
The note 7 was not faulty for me, I still have it, works really fine
Just got my note back from the service center. took them one day to fix it. You guys were right, it was a faulty digitizer.
lucky for me. they changed the whole screen assembly, i now have a new scratcheless screen. They also said they replaced the battery since the front assembly comes with a new battery since its suppose to be glued to it
Really glad to hear it worked so good for you! , that is the benefit of purchasing legally/oficially distributed devices some want to save money, but the peace of mind is most important
Hi guys
I have the same problem .If I replace just touch screen ,will the problem be solved???Or is it LCD?
Because I disconnected touch screen cable and saw that pen digitizer still is working and I guessed that pen digitizer is connected to LCD?Am I right??

It seems that the majority of the Note 7s that had issues with the battery were restricted to the US. As I can't find issues with the Note 7 in other regions of the world...

You need to replace the entire AMOLED display under the glass panel, which is no easy task. As you need a very clean room to do it to ensure that you do not have any specs of dust on it.

Galaxy Note 8 worth buy in these condition?

Hi to all users is this note 8 a worth buy for 260€? Im not planning to replace the display with a new one will the current display be ok for next months or will go black just like nothing at some point? Thanks for answers..

I have the phone alrdery for 6hrs only one time it showed sometuing like this but when i raised up the brightness this green situation was just gone and the display was back again like in the first three pictures
https://www.imageshack.us/i/pofozm1Sj
Sometimes if i put the birghtness on low the low part of the display where is broken sometime just flashs some times if this is not enough i will put a video to show you better..
The price maybe sounds not bad, but if the display already showing issues,.... forget it. the Display problem can not get better, just worse.
And consider, with this damage it isn't resistant against water. Not even against humidity.
and a possible glass repair makes it much more expensive.
My opinion?
keep away from it !
Don't be afraid to hit the "Thanks" button if someone helped you. It don't hurts
So! Little update i find when and only the phone shows up the green screen on display like in the last picture (in the first post) if i lock the phone with always on activated and then i press the button to wake up the phone the green screen shows up! But for example if after that with still green screen on display i lock the phone again but i dont give him time to show the always on and i press fast the wake up button the display bring back normal! This mean that with always on display always off i can lock and wake up tue phone all the time without the green screen issue... Why it does this?
Buy it for €220

Look up sammy green screen of death. S7 had that issue. Yours is probably from dropping damage. Needs new display.
Seeing as it is already damaged. It will probably need repairing to make it a functional for the long run. That said after ir has been repaired it will no longer be water resistant.
Thanks for the answers i really appreciate i take the decision not to risk i think is better take out from the pocket something like 500/550€ for a used one in optimal condition and not to spend 250€ for this and then spend again 250€ for the display replacemant

That is a different story. As 3rd Party repair shops won't be able to guarantee that your device will be water resistant once it has been opened up and repaired. As the double sided adhesive used by Samsung is not used by other 3rd Party Device Repair Specialists.
Dont take it to 3rd party then... logic
