Is my screen defective, or does this screen just have poor viewing angles when viewed diagonally?
See picture and video below. On top is the RP2, and below is a Xperia XZ1.
I'm not having issues seeing the screen clearly from multiple angles. On my device.

Since I'm in the process of waiting for an unlock code for my Z1s, I've been using it along side my LG G2 and I'm noticing a big discrepancy between the way identical photos look on both devices. That's to say the Z1's display seems to have 1-2 stops of exposure compensation applied to any image that's displayed on screen.
For example, I beamed a Z1s photo to my G2. Image looked underexposed (dark) on the G2, perfect on the Z1s. Same image sent to my wife's iPhone 5, same result as the G2 (underexposed).
Beamed an G2 photo to the Z1s. About 2 stops overexposed (bright), loss of detail in the highlights and overly exposed noisy dark areas in the photo.
I've tried this with half a dozen photos taken/viewed on both devices with X reality both on/off, and different screen brightness levels. All images appear to be over exposed by the Z1s display, to the point where I saw shadow details that were not visible at all on the G2.
I realize there's a difference between the IPS panels used in other devices and the TFT LCD used in the Z1, but as far as I know this should only affect viewing angles and some color accuracy. Overexposure seems to be something the Z1s display drivers are doing.
I haven't seen this particular display attribute mentioned here in the forums, so I'm curious if anyone else has made direct comparisons of identical images viewed on a Z1/Z1s and a different device. Now, some of you may see this as a feature of the Z1's display, but not knowing what my friends/family will see when they open their inbox or click a social media link is definitely a minus in my book.
Yesterday I've watched an YouTube video about this. I think it goes in that direction

Have a look

Is it normal that when looking at the screen directly the picture is very warm but as soon as I rotate it in any direction about 20 degrees it looks like a LCD display? Very bright whites, less saturation, etc?
No, AMOLED viewing angle is very good and the color should be very consistent unless it's an extremely angle. I can't judge unless you post some pictures.
So I just picked up my Note 4 last night. Coming from a G3. Screen is bright and colors are great. Liking the phone. But one thing that bugs me and it may just be me.. is the color shift during different viewing angles of the screen. Mine turn to like a greenish blue tint when tilted all directions. It's most noticeable on lighter screens. Darker colors not so much.
Does anyone else have this? Does it bother you? Should I go exchange?
Mess around with these settings first
Doesn't make a difference. Anybody else have this problem?
All the displays in the Note 4 have screen viewing angle issues. Some have vertical shift issues wheres others have horizontal shift issues and others have both. People tend to keep their eyes oriented on just the vertical aspect and look at their devices eye-on, a big factor as to why you don't read many others acknowledging this on their AMOLED devices (Note, not just pertaining to the Note 4). AMOLED has perfect viewing angles, the culprit is usually the digitizer and glass which are incorporated on top of the AMOLED screen. The digitzer and Glass are responsible for the color shift due to inorganic elements used to manufacture such components. I've seen red shift to orange when looking at certain Note 4's from a horizontal angle, and I've seen Blues shifting to purple from vertical angles, and I've seen worse in which a demo unit had pink shift and green and blue shift. A replacement is not going to help. The iPhone circumvents the screen viewing angle problems thanks to the separation between the LCD panel, backlight, and glass. Recently, Apple decided to combine the backlight and LCD, thus reducing 3 layers to 2, the results did not compromise the screen viewing angles. IPS displays are still a versatile choice when thinking about appropriate displays. AMOLED is simply good for folks that are addicted to saturated colors.
Never had any issue. When I first got my phone, when I viewed the screen from a heavy angle it had a bit of a pink tint on white colors, but that had gone away now.

Are you using any screen protector as well?
BTW,
There are several factors involved,
- Amount of Oleophobic Coating which distorts the actual colors discernible by the viewer
- The Digitizer
- The Corning Gorilla Glass
- And the amount of bonding used to keep the AMOLED display adhered to its bottom layer (Remember: Organic by Nature).
I have no issues. Looks amazing for me
Well after having it a few days.. it doesn't bother me much anymore or I don't notice it as much. Maybe it's going away. I had a few galaxy devices recently and I guess I never noticed. I'm used to my G3s ips screen.
There are some reviews that state that the pictures suffer from quite some corner and edge softness. But others don't mention it.
I've seen some examples and it's very visible. But I also saw some great pictures with no corner and edge softness.
Maybe it is only visible in wide aspect ratio pictures?
Anyway, this is important for me in deciding if I will buy this phone.
Do any of you experience this? Can you post sample pictures in both normal and wide aspect ratio?
Anyone?
It is also talked about at the Lenovo forum with some very clear pictures showing the problem:

Is there a screen protector on this phone that I can't see or it's just grainy? I haven't seen a grainy phone display for years, I know it's pentile AMOLED and only 1080p, but grain is really obvious lower brightness on white/light backgrounds

I also see a grainy display, sometimes it's bothersome especially on views that have same solid color. Coming from an original Pixel XL that AMOLED screen did not have a grainy image.
Yes gradient/blur pictures/wallpapers look terrible on this phone ?
No such grainy display in November. Bestbuy retail.
