Hello fellow members, I am browsing about information for network coverage.
Upon my research I found from the official Motorola website that there is no band coverage for Europe. But on other websites. I found that there is? Can anyone please shed some light?
Thanks in advance

If there is going to be a international version, i think it's gonna be called Milestone 4.
The Droid 4 hardware has GSM capability but it is currently disabled in the firmware. Verizon announced a couple months ago that they plan to release an update (timeframe unknown) to enable it. I think the problem has something to do with the LTE to GSM handoff or something like that.

Why would that ever happen? Or will it actually allow us to hop onto GSM networks in the US?
The reason for it being disabled was mainly due to the 4g network not being enabled for voice calls. I suspect the update to allow gsm will come with the ICS update in the next 6 to 8 months.

No not a spark update but I got band 26. I know there is a speed forum but since Spark is a different tech I wanted a new topic.

How is it Sprint can be using so many bands together to get more speed and yet it's still slower than Tmo's single band? Oh right, it's Sprint...
I miss the old Sprint. I was their biggest fanboy for a good long while there before their 3g became unusable and their only 4g was wimax which didn't make it past trees or a window at anything more than a single bar. I understand the high frequency attenuation, but the lack of 3g backhaul is ridiculous and so is their piecemeal 4g network. I feel sorry for anyone still using them during this "transition". If this was a store under construction, they'd be better off closing for until they're complete, because the customer experience is so bad... I hope they make good use of their prime Nextel 800mhz spectrum, they could make a great network with it, it's totally possible. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Actually Sprint has improved a lot here in the Metro Detroit area I am connected to LTE everywhere I travel in southeast Michigan. It has been a painful journey these last 3 years but I see the light lol and we haven't been officially announced so I see nothing but good things at least for me from Sprint by the end of the summer it should be full throttle. Not to mention we have no data caps and I only pay $45 for unlimited everything. Framily Plan

I have had up to 48MB/sec download speed here on LTE.

yep, I can attest to that. Orlando was launched about a month ago, and voice and data coverage couldn't be better. Before I could barely get WiMax, but I get good LTE speeds at my residence and most of my commute through the city. CDMA 800 has already started rolling out in my area, as well as Spark
I just got the official text message from Sprint a few days ago announcing the new spark network here in Minneapolis. Now the wait for Google to update and enable the radios needed to receive the new LTE bands.
Sprint network has improved quite a bit in the last 6 months. I an get LTE pretty much everywhere in the metro and suburbs now. I will admit i was almost ready to pay the ETF and jump ship 6 months ago...

It is better. That was just band 26, not spark spark technically.

Cause its not currently using all three at once... Enabling all three bands is great but until we get a radio that can negotiate and use all 3 at once your speeds won't be that awesome. I get band 26 here in Houston sometimes and its certainly better than b25 cause of congestion and I have gotten band 41 here too where I got speeds of 70+Mbps (much faster than tmo) but the problem is I until the update we only get one band at once hence the odd speed results.
I'll edit later once I find my spark Houston speed thread I started months ago.
Cheers
When sprint updates so our n5s can use the spark network would it just be in a prl/profile update or an OTA type thing? Will I be on board if I'm running a custom ROM, or will I have to go back to stock for it?

Spark doesn't allow you to receive all 3 bands at once. The technology will automatically switch between the 3 bands, selecting the fastest band and strongest signal available for where you are.

good info thanks
even if you use the .15 modem and are lucky enough to find a 41b tower like i did until we get the updated modem and corresponding software the handoffs between the two will be awful like they are now, and even if you change band priority b25 always seems to take over eventually regardless of the other bands strength.
I can't wait for the update.

Expect a new radio.. This will be the brains behind the band switching but I wouldn't be surprised if there are also elements within the rom that will help with spark too.
So yes at least flash the new radio with your custom ROM and see if there is any changes if not wait till your custom ROM of choice updates to 4.4.3 which won't take long lol
A prl and profile can only really enable the bands but a new radio needs to be in place to help with the handoffs

It does. Some people have reported band 41. The towers love to put out 26 (probably because it's lower frequency) and man is it strong! I haven't seen band 41 yet but would love to see a Speedtest on it. Some have reported on s4gru and I think HoFo.
I've gotten plenty of Band41 LTE on my Nexus 5 on the .15 radio. Here is my best speedtest so far:

Yeah there's no LTE-A in the US.. There's AWS, and whatever the crap Verizon calls their thing now, XLTE? We'll just have to wait till 2020 or whenever the carriers decide they want to steal more money from everyone to "enhance" their networks.
Actually at&t is testing LTE-A in Chicago and the S5 has the aggregation capability, but I don't think consumer devices have it enabled yet even in Chicago. At least we know it's a flip of a switch away.. Whether we actually get it before or next device is another story
LTE -A (LTEVoIP) is being tested as said in Chicago as of right now, 2015 will start the roll out to metropolitan networks. S5 has the ability to use the new network, more than likely it will not be turned on by At&t. Inside knowledge is always fun to have

Sprint's version is like Verizon's, CDMA won't transition properly between LTE and LTE-A. The calls will be dropped when you lose LTE-A signal. Voice is dead, data will take over all aspects of mobile.

SAMSUNG-SM-G900A, rooted.
I am more curious about hardware. I saw on yt that phones with snapdragon 801 chipset and 1440p resolution have very low framerate in games like gta sa at max details. My question is does the sd 805 like one in the s5 lte-a can give decent fps on that resolution
VOLTE, AWS and 2500 testing has been going on for some time now. I've done countless testing for Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. I'm currently on a 2500 project for Sprint in the Southern California area. For 2500, they want to see DL throughputs at 50Mbps and UL throughputs at 15Mbps for "passing" criteria for each site. Seems like all carriers are on the same page for the parameters.
Verizon is calling it XLTE, Sprint is calling it Spark. I forget what AT&T is calling it.

i have one, and it does work in the US. you can use att, or att based providers. it's much better than the reg s5.
as stated, you won't get the full benefit of what it can do, until the states update their networks. but it uses the lte 850 or 900, among its other bands, which work with att. so you can get it, and then when the networks are updated, you can use the higher frequency functions.
it's still worth getting the 3gb ram, 32gb rom and quad hd screen. a better processor and graphics chip are also putting you well ahead of the curve.
Picked up my Nexus 6 a couple of days ago and it's great but Voice Over LTE does not work on this device. I asked the sales rep at T-Mobile before I bought it about VoLTE and she told me it does have it.
Can anyone verify if this device is even able to use VoLTE?
I'm sure it'll be available in a software update so I wouldn't worry. It's not like the phone isn't capable of it.

She was misinformed, @askdes the Sr. Product guy for T-Mobile confirmed via his Twitter account that while the nexus 6 will not ship/be released with volte or WiFi calling, it will be updated within the next couple of months to support both. In addition it will also support band 12 (700mhz) block a spectrum in the neqr future as well.

I read in several places when the N6 was announced that it does support band 12. What it doesn't have are TMO's libs and kernel modules to make use of this band. The VoLTE and Wifi calling is the issue.
Oh cool, I guess it's just dependent on whether your location has band 12 up and running or not.
Usually I'm not too worried about VoLTE but my area is hurting right now in terms of capacity and backhaul so I cannot even use hangouts to make a stable call while maintaining lte.... Smh.

VOLTE is probably something to look for down the road a bit.
Previous models like the Z2 and Z3 Xperia phones had both VoLTE & HD Voice included, even in the international versions. But since the Z5 and even with the upcoming X series phones, these features were removed. Does ANYONE know why Sony did this?? I have a couple ideas, but I'd like to know if anyone knows anything more concrete. Any information would be great!!
Thanks!
Well, some country (mostly Asia/Europe) has VoLTE option on Z5.
On my Japanese docomo's X Performance also has VoLTE option, so maybe some country/customization will have VoLTE option.

Well here in America I found out from T-Mobile's Tech Support Department that I'll still be able to make calls in a 4G LTE-only area even without VoLTE, which is fine. But the problem is Band 12/700 MHz. This is very valuable low-bandwidth spectrum which T-Mobile JUST purchased in my area (Chicago) a week ago. So within the next 6-8 mos this will become available for all customers like myself. Band 12 is very good at penetrating through buildings, unlike the higher spectrums, so that's why people would want it. But I found out that if I buy the X Performance, b/c it doesn't have VoLTE on it, I can ONLY use Band 12 for data while on a call, not for the call itself. Which means I WON'T be able to take advantage of having Band 12, even though the XP has it. They said your phone can only use Band 12 for phone calls if you have VoLTE. The other bandwidths don't require VoLTE but Band 12 does. So I'm NOT happy about this.
I could get an HTC 10 through T-Mobile today, and it would have VoLTE, but the camera on the 10 isn't as good as the XP's, and the XP looks cooler too, plus has front-facing STEREO speakers. So I dunno. I'm really p'd off Pramo because I feel like I have to sacrifice something I really like just to have the XP.

Can't verify it myself as I don't have a Z5 series phone, but according to a list on Wikipedia the Z5 series does have HD Voice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_smartphones_with_HD_Voice_support#Sony
So, what makes you believe the Z5 or the new X series would not support HD Voice?
Also, the Z5 series reportedly supports VoLTE, depending on carrier of course:

sxtester,
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing these links. It seems that perhaps Sony DID put VoLTE on these phones. But I am in the process of reaching someone at Sony internally (via T-Mobile's "contact" person who works at Sony Mobile) to verify all this. But this is very promising news, and MUCH appreciated!! The MAIN thing is to find out whether or not the Xperia X Performance will have VoLTE or not, and if they have already certified VoLTE with T-Mobile or not? See this link in order to follow up over the next week or two.
Thanks!!
Sony has included VoLTE on the XP, I think the intl, version is the same as the Hong Kong Version, I have personal seen this feature on the retail version of the XP, just a few more days before I get mine.
The ones that had it were carrier specific Z5s there is no universal volte unless sony certified with the carriers for the model

Yes, X Performance uses in-cell touch display.
I can't see patterns and Sony's developer explained they used in-cell to make unified design.
I can also confirm it uses in-cell because there is touch driver for in-cell in kernel source.
HD voice uses 3g signals (H, H+, 3g)
VoLTE uses (obviously) true 4g signals (4g, LTE)
It is up to networks to provide access to the services as they are done on a network level, not handset level

Not bad dude,
It's one of those things where you gonna have to speak to T-mobile.
It MAY depend on the phone having their firmware on, it normally does.. But, guessing not released on their network yet..
Give them a call and see what plans they have for providing the service on their network.

Yeah I was gonna give them a call prob tomorrow about it. My Contacts app is being weird too, and Wi-Fi is acting a lil funny too on my phone. So I decided to just use Xperia Companion to wipe the phone clean and reinstall the software. I'm HOPING that does the trick. I guess I'll find out shortly.
I know they'll prob say they can't do anything about it, but can't hurt to call them. Since I bought the phone unlocked (like I had a choice Sony?! lol) that's not gonna help much, plus it's the int'l version of the XP too. So I dunno. We'll see what they say.

I can comfirm that VoLTE is on my unit.
without a VoLTE Usim, the icon does not show, but once a supported Usim is inserted, the VoLTE will show up, and operative.
