Hello Guys,
i found this video where someone is showing the new dark mode on EMUI 10.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1enMV-ebGo&feature=youtu.be
There is a "Apply everywhere" option in the settings right under the dark mode, but it's not there if I try it on my P30 Pro with EMUI 10.

It will be added in final version, the official release. The stable release will also include new AOD, bubble notifications and more. Stay tuned for as i heard it will be released globally sometime in December ?
What we have now on our devices is just a Pre-Release version, that's why it's not bundled with all the good stuffs they've promissed to bring on EMUI 10 and is distributed through HiCare and not through normall OTA.

Well, this turned out to be false.
I just got EMUI 10 on the P30 (the stable, full final version) and the option to force Dark Mode is NOT there. So it seems to me that Huawei removed it from the final version.

Hi m8,
Since i've shared the post you've quoted, Huawei had a press conference where they said:
''According to Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei Consumer Business Software, these 8 smartphones will receive the Colorful AOD feature as soon as the first quarter of 2020. Huawei P20 Pro and other OLED display smartphones may receive this later.''
Source - https://www dot huaweicentral dot com/emui-10-colorful-aod-feature-will-rollout-in-q1-2020/amp/
Don't know why they choose to do it this way, but in the end is their choice when or how to update the AOD interfacev(on Mate 30 / Mate 30 Pro is available since release).
In order to force dark mode on EMUI 10, you can use an ADB command:
Enable Dark Mode: adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2
Disable Dark Mode: adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 1

Is this any different from Dark mode from Display menu? I mean, will it force it on apps that do not have the option?

Nope and don't know for sure if it's because of that adb command or not, but on the apps that have dark/white/follow the system color scheme it opens by default in dark mode (Messages, Gmail, Chrome, Google Photos, Google, Google PlayStore, Shazam, Microsoft Outlook just few that i've tested).
Huawei should implement in developer mode force dark mode across all apps in order to workon all apss, but untill this day, it seems just a marketing scam (as the new AOD) from Huawei

Well, that already worked for me after I enable Dark Mode from normal menu..all apps that support dark mode have it enabled, except for Messenger from Facebook that needs to be activated manually. I was mostly interested to see if Facebook can be forced to use a dark interface(I know about a modded apk,but it's an older version...and I don't like the apps like Maki or others that just use the web interface darkened...that I can do from browser anyway). Thank you anyway.

the beta emui 10 made all apps force dark mode including facebook app. but got surprised with the stable one not getting that feature.
I have a realme x2 pro with colorOS 6.1 and it's dark mode is crazy you can manually force an app to use dark mode or not. that's the only feature I like about it lol hope Huawei implements the same idea
I have just upgraded from a Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (Stock MUI12.0.1 Android 10) and its Dark Mode has this feature so you can select the apps that you also want to force to use Dark Mode. This works excellently. Examples attached.
Is there still no way to replicate this on EMUI 10.1?

Hi all, this may have its own dedicated thread but I was not able to find it during my time with my Mi 6 and Mix 2.
When I moved over to MIUI I was shocked that they removed Min Width in Developer Options, because opening apps such as Telegram gave it such a horrid text size I could not adjust.
This will require you to have 5 minutes of your lunch break, a PC, and also depending on where you are accessing your Mi device, a VPN.
ATTENTION: To those who have used this command before on other devices, the device WILL RETAIN the density after a reboot. Don't worry about doing this every reboot, because you DO NOT HAVE TO.
NOTE: This will NOT cause any reboots of any kind, and you can still use themes from MIUI or wherever. The only apps I have noticed have a weird design will be the Themes app, where the app will look off tilted. Other than that, Xiaomi should have just left this in instead of neglecting their own app's density adaptation.

Turn off wifi, and ensure your device is linked to a Mi Account
Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap MIUI Version 7 times
Go back, and go to Additional Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging
Then click on USB Debugging (Security settings)
Go through the three prompted Apply dialogs with countdown, and ensure the toggle is enabled.
If it isn't, ensure your wifi is disabled, mobile data is enabled and Mi account is linked
Go to a PC with adb set up: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979 (Windows)
Open a Command prompt and type:
Code:
adb shell
wm density 380
exit
I picked 380, but you can make it smaller
To reset the density, type:
Code:
adb shell
wm density reset
exit

I assume the vpn is for turning on ADB debugging? Does the global ROM require this as well? I'm 99% that I've used it without a vpn (though, my device is unlocked). I can't confirm now though as I'm no longer on MIUI.

I've tried the adb shell method a few times before on MIUI 9 on my Mi4 (from 480 to 400), but it wrecks the notification shade, especially on the quick tiles (it enlarge by themselves) and some notification row icons (somehow the icons ended up having small black-ish frame overlaid on the top-left). Possibly only on MM MIUI 9, since that's all Mi4 gets at best.
Is it because of how MIUI theming heavily uses bitmaps (with flawed asset scaling on their own default theme) rather than vector drawables for their glyphs?
Great work around buddy, but in the end you'll have to change the rows and columns size too as those look horrid then.
Though I used EasyDPI and Xposed to rearrange these BASIC settings, one can always use the Default Theme Layouts.

Hmm that's weird, I never had issues with my notification shade.
That is a possibility if they don't use vector drawables, but I believe it's just like how Samsung once upon a time made all their apps at a fixed DPI so scaling just looks really bad.
I've been using default theme and another theme called Flam[DD] and changing DPI works flawlessly.

Yeah the toggles and even the rows and colums in a folder. These are actually basic things. Have to do these after every Weekly Updates too. Sucks.

The following may be much easier. You don't need adb, unlock or root.
http://en.miui.com/thread-1093064-7-1.html
I confirmed this works on MIUI 9 Chinese stable ROM with developer mode turned on.
In advance you have to install Google Play. As you know, this doesn't require unlock or root.

[APP] "Immersive Manager" - Take full control over the "Immersive Mode" [PROMO CODES]
"Immersive Mode" just the way you like!

The "Immersive Mode" itself is a awesome feature right? But it's really annoying
that some apps don't make use of this beautiful way to enjoy a bigger screen.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could define the way it works yourself?
Well now you can with "Immersive Manager".
"Immersive Manager" allows you to tweak every aspect of where and how the
"Immersive Mode" should work on your device.
You can either define a global "Immersive Mode" which will be applied system wide.
Or if you wanna go further you can define the "Immersive Mode" per-app.
The following options are available and can be applied individually:
Full -> will hide both the status bar and the navigation bar
Status -> will only hide the status bar
Navigation -> will only hide the navigation bar
None -> will leave both system bars visible
No root required!
No draining background services!
No hacky or buggy overlays!
Just a simple and clean user interface which applies your settings in real time.
In order to make "Immersive Manager" work the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission must be granted.
Normally this permission is only granted to system applications because it allows the app to write system settings.
If you're device is rooted you can grant the permission from inside the app with just one click.
Otherwise you have to do it manually with a simple ADB command.
You will find a detailed tutorial inside the app.
The internet permission is used for analytics only.
Last Changelog:
• Improved tutorial
• Added a warning for incompatible apps

@IVIanuu Thanks for the app i just bought it. It would be appreciated if an option to apply on reboot would be added in future updates. Best of Luck!
Would be nice if it was possible to choose immersive mode only for landscape for example. Like when you are on chrome in landscape, the proportion of place taken by the status bar is much greater than on portrait mode.

@IVIanuu, By the way when I go to System/About Phone/Software Updates that page doesn't go to immersive mode when using per app strategy, on Global Immersive Mode it works fine. I hope this will be fixed soon.
I am using per app settings and I have almost all apps in full immersive except for two. Also my phone is an HTC U11+.

On my phone it's not and I would assume other HTC phones and brands have the same issue probably because of their navigation bar customization. This probably wouldn't have been the case with AOSP Roms or Google stock rom. But in my case I need to use Adb commands with each boot on PC or apply it through your app, hence the need for apply on reboot.
Also one more suggestion could you include system files or apps in per app settings menu.

I understand but why does it work on Global and not per app, I think i might have a clue when you're applying immersive effect on per app configuration you're missing to include a system file or apk responsible for the Software Updates page. I hope I got my point across.
Why I am saying this, because when I run adb commands through the PC I can make that page immersive without issues.
Thanks again for your work and time.
Edit:
I just installed the latest update and i am happy you added system apps to the per app settings menu. It also solved the issue i had with the "Software Updates" page not being immersive. Thanks again for your work.

Is this supported in Android 10?

Hi there,
I'm not actually aware of Substratum being compatible with Android 10. Since there are no themes for Android 10 yet, no one has really something to test it. My theme should work with no issues, since it's just theming an app and not system things. If errors happen, 9 out of 10 they are Substratum-related.
You may want to try out Substratum Lite and see if it applies themes.
Heya! Version 1.2 is live!
Changelog:
The themes now contains 80 wallpapers, hurray!
Added 5 new solid colours backgrounds
Added a solid black background
Added 3 new colour gradients backgrounds
Added 7 new wallpaper backgrounds
Download link in the OP
Ciao, will test 1.2 soon on MIUI 10.5

Bummer. Is the installation error occurring within substratum or as you try to install the package?
And if it is within substratum, is there a specific background you are trying to install? Are you getting any logchat?
Also, what is your phone, substratum and Android version?

Here is a picture of it. I like it. It's nice but I think the Chevy logo would be nicer with a black background. But it's still nice. Thank you for this it gives my car a fresh look.

Maybe in a future release I will give all the vehicules' logos a solid black background. It will be a pretty big ammount of work. Thanks for the feedback!

No it's fine. It's perfect. It makes everything just more pronounced. The amount of current wallpapers available is insane. I'm downloading a bunch of them as we speak. Thank you so much for this. I mentioned the app in the OnePlus 7 pro forums.

So have you applied the theme on Android 10 open beta 1?

Edit:
Magisk modules seemed to be the problem. It held on to the cache and Data. After removing the module and simply only adding SU privileges it works fine.

Wait, wasn't it working before on 10?
Working fine here: Pixel 3 XL running QP1A.190711.020, root with Magisk Canary 19.4 (19304), Substratum Lite 0.3.35 and the latest release of Android Auto Background 1.2.
Android Auto 4.6.5933 is out.
Good news! Android Auto Backgrounds is fully compatible!
If the background is not applied, once updated Android Auto, just rebuild it through Substratum!
Bravo, with Substratum Lite seems to work also on MIUI 10.5 and Android Auto 4.6.5933, next step please add custom wallpaper

Happy that this works.
Unfortunately, with Substratum you can't let the user choose a wallpaper from the storage to be applied.
That could be achieved with a dedicated app. The thing is that for changing wallpaper in Android Auto, you have to modify a resource (an image) in the package of AA. So it would require de-compiling the APK and compiling it back again. And you can't just jerry rig a wallpaper inside and build it back because of signatures (that would break the connection between phone and headunit).
So, I think that it could be achieved via Xposed module, since with Xposed you can modify resources at runtime, but:
A) Xposed fell out of interested lately
B) I don't currently have the know-how to make it so
BTW you are free to suggest more wallpapers, and in the next releases I'll include them
Edit--- I got it working! Disregard.
Does this only display on the new layout of Android auto? I'm updated to the latest version but for some reason I don't have the option to try the new layout. I am new to substratum but I have root. Device is 1plus6T. I am assuming I just go into the app select the wallpaper and click build and install? It says it's applied successfully but I still have the default background. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been waiting for a mod like this forever so I'm anxious to get it working!!
Anyway you could add this wallpaper? Or anything similar. I wasn't sure the resolution you needed but here is the source page. Any of the focus ST logos I would really appreciate!!
https://wallpaper-gallery.net/gallery/ford-focus-st-wallpaper.html
I also added a picture of my car too not sure if that's taking it too far
Thank you so much for building this!! I have always wanted a mod like this!
Heya! Version 1.3 is live! - Game Of Thrones Update!
Fancy some GoT? AA Wallpaper got you!
Added 9 GoT Houses wallpapers
Added Ford ST wallpaper
Now app has an icon

Great job! That's a long time waited... Android Auto personalization. Amazing!
It works very well.
One question... Is it possible to modify the bottom bar?
And an issue that I have with the 16-bit skyline theme. I can't activate it
Thanks so much!

No they won't, it's a Noweiway move to get users to buy kirin 990 Mate 30 pro. Even the old Samsung S7 from three years ago had a better more functional AOD than a 2018 Huawei phone. Shame on them.

I agree. Poor for a flagship device.
From what I read by them on their forums when someone asked about this NOT being seen on Emui 10 P30 Pro. They said its only on the NEW Mate 30. And they are happy to hear our requests for new features blah blah blah in coming updates. So.. yeah.. not coming..unless they change it
It's possible that they decided not to roll out this feature for the P30 Pro even though their promotional images show the P30 Pro running their new AOD. Personally I just ended up building my own custom AOD with third-party apps. Probably more customisable than the official option too.
Glad I don't use AOD. Very weak AOD for a 2018 flagship, when other manufacturers had better useful AODs back in 2015.

Welcome to 2016 Huawei. Yet, seeing it would be believing it in 2020 as nearly all their official comments and statements in recent times has never materialized. Lame excuse that only kirin 990 can support it.

I used Always on Edge to build a custom AOD setup. I set it up with a basic clock/date widget that displays a pulsing light at the top (similar to a notification LED) and app icons below the clock. It's also got a notification summary below that will display the app and notification title, but not the actual notification message content. Here's how it looks:
Originally the app is supposed to flash the edge of the phone screen for notifications but there's the option to replace the edge lighting with a more subtle LED effect. You can also customise the widget layout, size, and content (such as adding music playback controls that only display when music is playing). You can also set which apps are whitelisted or blacklisted from showing up in the notifications list as well as timing of the AOD. Instead of making it constantly display, I set it to only show up when notifications come in or when the device is charging. The app is free with the full feature set but you have to watch an ad every time a setting is changed. You can remove this with an in-app purchase though.
On there web site forums someone asked about this for the P30 Pro. They said.. it was not for the P30 pro.

A (very) long time ago, Android introduced a feature to allow you to show certain widgets on the lock screen. For some reason, this useful feature was removed with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, confining widgets to the home screen only.
While some manufacturers, such as Samsung, have brought back limited versions of lockscreen widgets, but you're usually limited to the widgets the manufacturer has already created for you.
Well, no more! Lockscreen Widgets brings back the functionality of yore, with some extra features.
- Lockscreen Widgets appears as a paged "frame" on top of your lockscreen.
- Add a widget by tapping the plus button in the frame. This plus button will always be the last page.
- Each widget you add gets its own page.
- You can press, hold, and drag a widget left or right to reorder it.
- Tap the frame with two fingers to enter the editing mode: you resize and move the frame, and remove the current widget here.
- Any home screen widget can be added as a lockscreen widget.
Inside the app, there are a few settings you can change:
- You can make the widget frame's background opaque if you want to overlay lockscreen elements.
- You can have the widget frame hide when there are notifications displayed on the lockscreen.
- You can have the widget frame hide when the notification shade is down. This probably won't work on heavily customized skins like EMUI or MIUI.
- You can have the widget frame hide when the security input view is shown (PIN/pattern/password/etc). This probably won't work on heavily customized skins like EMUI or MIUI.
And this is all without ADB or root! All the necessary privileges can be granted without even thinking about using a computer.
On the topic of privileges, these are the more sensitive permissions that Lockscreen Widgets needs to function:
- Accessibility. In order to display on the lockscreen, Lockscreen Widgets' Accessibility Service must be enabled. You will be prompted to enable it if needed in the initial setup, and any time you open the app.
- Notification Listener. This permission is only required if you want the widget frame to hide when notifications are displayed. You will be prompted if it's needed.
- Dismiss Keyguard In order to improve the user experience, Lockscreen Widgets will dismiss the lock screen (or show the security input view) when it detects an Activity being launched from a widget, or when you press the "Add Widget" button. This will not compromise your device's security in any way.
And that's it. Don't believe me? Lockscreen Widgets is open source! The link is at the bottom.
Lockscreen Widgets only works on Android Lollipop 5.1 and later because the necessary system features for displaying on the lockscreen didn't exist in Lollipop 5.0. Sorry, 5.0 users.

I am trying out this app but I am not quite sure how it works.
I have Live Wallpaper on. As soon as the AOD disappears and my lockscreen shows up, I see a small popup window or prompt flicker and then it just disappears.

I think that it is an issue with Samsung's dual layer lockscreen.
I have uninstalled the app but will monitor it for updates that will work with Samsung phones.
What's that weather widget called that you are showing there? Also how do I move the widget elsewhere I can't seem to figure it out
Edit: Figured out the editing, but could you please tell me what Weather widget is please?
Widget overlays phone screen
Hi,
I used the app and is wonderful. To have this features with all the restrictions put in new android versions is awesome!
I noticed one issue. I set up a widget on the lockscreen. When a call is received (with the phone locked) the phone's caller ID screen ahd all the dialer options there is overlayed by the widget. Thereby any touch interactions only apply to the widget and not to the caller screen. Since phone calls are the only thing that works with the phone locked, I assume this issue is with only this scenario.
Is there a way to fix this? Can you please check from your end too?
Thanks!
Sammukh
Love this so far.
I'm trying to add a KWGT to my LS. It tells me I need to set it up, which I can't do via the lock screen. Any ideas?
Can I get a promo code? This looks promising..
Hello.
After installing the application and giving it the necessary permissions and going to the lock screen there is no add button.
How to add a widget ?
Thank you.

Thank you
Any promo codes left?
Bought it & the idea is very good but have to eventually refund coz the widget layer keeps popping on my ambient display (on my OnePlus device) as well as the password input screen & it just keeps bugging me...Would definitely buy/install the app again when this issue is fixed.
Bought it but like others have said, had to refund because the widget wouldn't resize.
