I bought a new p30pro.
However, the camera center shifts when the lens is switched as in this video.
Is your smartphone the same?
ttps://youtu.be/dpRCDU5_3QQ
Umm, well of course, the lenses are in different places...
The amount of shift is not same. There is a slight shift but not that drastic as shown in video.

Of course there is, 1cm~ shift at the lens location when zoomed = much larger shift at the subject location at that distance
Just done it myself aiming out of the window, same result

No it's fine
I'm pretty sure my P30 Pro doesn't do that (shift from right to left) when zooming, i'll try a few tests.

Thank you. But the amount of shift axis my device feels very large.
Can fix this? There is no Huawei shop nearby.

If there is new update available, update it. I tested this on android 10 so I might have not noticed it in android 9.0 and it might have been there from start.

Hi,
As other people have noticed with their Z1, quality and sharpness seems to degrade when near the edge. Frankly, after some research, I found out this is the case with many cameras (including premium ones).
My questions are:
1. Does anyone else experience this corner softness?
2. Can this be fixed with a firmware update?
Thanks!

Yes, that´s the price you have to pay for a relatively large sensor with a large aperture lens.

No, you can correct distortion, vigneting etc. but you can´t magically make details appear that never have been recorded

how can you correct distortion, exactly?
is it possible to get a straight horizon with post processing?

If you know the distortion-characteristics of your lens, then you can correct them. Almost any compact camera nowadays corrects distortion during processing, it is the only way to get small widangle-lenses usable. In earlier days, when image-processors weren´t powerful enough to provide distortion-correction you could hardly find a compact camera with a wideangle-equivalent of 35mm, nowadays below 30mm equivalent focal-length is usual, even as low as 24mm not uncommon. Yet todays lenses are smaller and have more zoom-range at the same time.
is it possible to get a straight horizon with post processing?

Depends what you mean with straight horizon. It is of course easily possible to rotate an image to get a straight horizon.
If you mean to straighten lines because of a tilted camera it gets more difficult. Because an image has no depth-information this only works well if all objects in your image are about the same distances, because different distances from the camera require different amounts of correction.
That's why it should be done in the same manner as Panasonic does it on their Lumix cameras. If they promise/advertise a 12 MB pixel camera the sensor is 15 MB pixel - that is the only way to have sharp edges.

The zoom is pathetic, I give it that. I'm visually impaired and frequently use the camera to read at a distance. Can't do it on this phone.

All phones are digital zoom to my knowledge. This is the worst camera for zoom I've ever had on a phone.
not sure why people are complaining on smartphone cameras expecting to provide SLR like features.

The iPhone with 2 cameras have optical zoom. So not all phones. Probably some huawei phones as well.
If you want clear zoom (for visually impaired) get a zoom lens that clips on.
As for fuzziness (this note is for OP) try fussing with the app. HQ mode etc.. Also is it low light or bright light?
get the google camera 4.2 apk very nice shoots
Got my p4xl 2 days ago, what is this garbage front camera?!

Definitely something wrong, that info shows it's in the download folder and only 265kb. That's not straight from the camera. Like someone sent it as an MMS and it was downloaded.

Sorry but i needed to believe the reviews even the front facing camera didnt mention there...
The rear camera is the best out there for sure, but why Google went down in the specs of front camera?!
The battery also needed to improve better, we are in 2019 not 2016,Google needs to make 4000ma batteries and more, this is one of the most important things for users.
Everybody says front facing camera is not important as rear, but you can see people at the street, when traveling always makes selfie photos, so you need to improve it also or not make it less better than your previous phone
Got to say I'm pretty impressed by the sharpness regarding contours on my end. You're definitely using the cam the wrong way, or got a faulty sensor.

I said I was wrong about the megapixels, but you don't have a Pixel 4 xl.
You're not rooted? Yet you're using three button navigation and your home button is missing the circle around the home button that has been present since the first Pixel xl. Pic is attached showing your navbar and what it looks like with three button navigation enabled on the pixel 4 xl. You're likely using a phone with a skimmed down version on Android on another phone. You're navigation bar looks similiar to the one on the Essential phone without the circle around the nav bar. I've attached a pic of that as well.
Also your clock is supposed to be on the left side. Signal and battery are supposed to be on the right. Pic is attached of how it's supposed to look.
Was going to say that your Google Lens icon is missing, but it's not available in Israel.
Anyhow, chances are is that you're using some random Gcam mod that you've posted about in the past.

What are you saying?! In Hebrew the buttons and the clock are opposite to English, im using pixel 4 xl 2 days brand new, attached my system details!
Lack of sharpness is probably more like lack of focus. The front facing camera is fixed focus. It's no different than my Pixel 2 XL and both do fine for me. You gotta hold it a little steadier. Something that helps is using the 3 second timer so tapping the on screen shutter or the volume button don't produce extra movement.

I think all three photos look very nice when zoomed to be "full screen" on my 1080p laptop screen. When I zoom to 1-to-1 pixels I see that there is a small bit of jitter in the photo. It looks like you couldn't be 100% steady when shooting (who can? We're talking very small pixels here and your arms were probably outstretched in the air) and the phone was not able to completely remove the sway. But, this is only noticeable when zoomed in 1 to 1. Also, some parts of the image are a bit muddy at that zoom level. I expected this as packing 108MP into a small sensor is basically guaranteed to make the actual pixels a little muddy. In these high brightness pictures the image looks as good as I'd expect. I would not feel bad about being able to get quality like that. Now, that still does leave everyone with the question "what about when it's dark" but we'll see.

The exynos version heats up much faster than S20 FE 5G which has snapdragon 865. It is much hotter than 865 during gaming and i experience some frame rate drop after playing at 1440p for extended period of time. Turning down to 1080p reduce fps drop and reduce heat slightly. However, after idling for a short while, it cool down really fast. Don't know about snapdragon 888 version though.
