My dad recently bought the Xperia X Performance, the problem was that it had custom software from Sony on it, and because of that couldn't update it. Having actual experience with rooting he decided to unlock the bootloader of the device so he could Update. Now it says he had his password wrong 8-9 times on boot (like that password on boot feature) any fix to this? I have had an Xperia X (single sim default model) so I know about stuff like DRM fix. Does it have anything to do with that???

ZR is my very first Android phone, so basically I know nothing about Android.
I unlocked the bootloader couple of weeks ago following the official Sony instructions in order to flash the stock Taiwan ROM (cause China's ROM doesn't support Google service). But now I found that I cannot update via Sony. More importantly, it's actually not necessary to unlock the bootloader for flashing ROM and/or get root privilege. So I'm desperately seeking the way to relock the bootloader.
I found some guy talking about flashing a small file called Xperia_Relock_bootloader.ftf. But he said that it was only for old models. Anybody here can help? Thanks in advance!
P.S. They said that after unlocking the boot loader, Bravia Engine and TrackID service will gone. But I have both working still. Weird. Does that mean I can backup my TA partition still?
Hello everyone,
I am looking for sim unlock on my new Xperia Z1 for free, for 7-8 days now... Nothing found ! No free way to do. :crying:
Then I saw some threads speaking about this file : simlock.ta. And then I was thinking "And if only this file may sim unlock my device ??"
So I would like to know:
What's this file ? And what should it do on my phone ?
Then... If I modify this file, can I Unlock my Xperia Z1 ? (locked SFR - France...)
I think understand that, if simlock.ta is deleted, there is no way to use network from any carrier. But, what about Editing simlock.ta ?

I'm looking for sim unlock too, I'm waiting for some hacker or ROM developer give me a light because I'm not from Europe and I have 0 attempts to insert the unlock code, its really hard to me, I have Samsung galaxy S2 locked to orange and I simply install a Galaxy S SIM unlock application on my device and done, the device got unlocked.
I thought with Xperia Z1 would be like that and then I bought, unfortunately I have that issue, a blocked Xperia Z1 .

Yes, Sim Unlock seems to be more easy on Galaxy devices. A friend tell me to try a custom ROM but no result, my Xperia Z1 still ask me the unlock code :/.
I think Simlock infos are stocked in the bootloader because of the carriers lock it systematicaly... But this file awake some questions in my head and... if there is any link with sim unlocking. I want to know how .

I just don't get it, be Samsung or sony or motorola, every device of these companies run android on their devices, android is the same thing at last, I really don't see the difficult. At past a guy hacked NASA and another perform jailbreak on Iphones, what's the matter of simply unlock Sim on Xperia?
Things way more difficult were done before and by the way a unlock sim system already were done for Samsung with android, this could be like a model for others devices, or not, does really the phone brand cares that much about this?
Hello, I have the sony xperia z3 + I unlocked the bootloader but the problem is that after I enabled sony Protection System, and do not want my bootloader unlocked whatever I do the phone works well, but for the bootloader I can not do anything ... I already tried tool studio flash and android nothing there ... Hi all, probably been asked and answered many times but Id like an up to date answer please..
New Z3 Compact arrived today (secondhand off ebay UK), it was Vodafone but I unlocked it and to my surprise, it has a locked Boot Loader that "can't" be unlocked as I really want ROOT and always had a rooted Android since I can remember! Sony seems to be different in this sector and might have to sell it otherwise which would be a shame!...
Any fixes for this issue, being September 2015? Cheers in advance.

I got mine from O2 and it can't be bootloader unlocked, but I still managed to root it. Followed the steps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
Which lets you root and take a copy of the DRM keys, you should not bootloader unlock it first as it wipes the DRM keys permanently, resulting in the loss of the camera low light algorithms and Bravia engine software.

Thanks mate I will give that a go! Found the Vibration doesn't work either so might go back anyway if Root doesn't work lol...
Hello,
I find the rooting thing very confusing.
I have a locked bootloader, is there any way to root my device without unlocking the bootloader? (for example with oneclickroot)
If I unlock the bootloader, what functionality do I lose?
If I understand it clearly, I need to unlock the bootloader, then fastboot the TWRP recovery and then within the recovery I can flash the supersu.zip package?
Also, do I need a kernel with the Sony security disabled if I just want to root the stock ROM? (SONY RIC, SELinux)
I hope someone can clear these things up for me....
Thanks in advance.
By unlocking BL you lose X-reality,Bionz and some sound fuctions if I'm not mistaken but I think there is a way to restore them

I unlocked my BL long time ago just because I needed root, I wanted so bad because I need to install cerberus antithief app and some other features.
Then noticed that camera was so slow, video is so lag, so better don't use it and record videos, somethimes color has a lot of contrastbut automatically goes normal, in sound quality and calls I really didn't notice anything bad.
Now that I upgrade to the last firmware, ther is no safe way to root it again, untill now I think I should never unlock my BL...
I have the dual version E6533.
With galaxy and htc I could play around with Sony z3 and plus no root without sacrifying basic functionality... Next phone will be a galaxy s7 or iPhone 7... If possible both... Galaxy for sports iPhone for business and non sports
Basically, there's no way to root any Xperia devices since the Z3+ generation with BL locked. Beacuse Sony update their BL so that you can't replace the kernel even if you rooted the system.
