Hi guys
Is it correct to say non Qualcom based Samsung devices have only 1 or 2 AOSP based ROMs?
Im thinking about getting S20+ but not if only touchUI ROMs are out there.
I only buy the international versions with the exynos chip because it seems all the good AOSP ROMs are on there. I think it has to do with the bootloaders being unlocked.
Unprofessional opinion

kinda surprising to think that the rootable S9s dont have a wide variety of ROMs available. Where have you looked for these ROMs? Or, rather, lack thereof

Sprint is one of the faster carriers to release updates, and it's not like the One launched with 4.2 in any event. Give it another week or so, hopefully. If not, devs may pull through with a port from the int'l side.
Yeah I know bro,Ive been with sprint for almost ten years now...and seems to me they take longer to roll out their updates for thier flagship devices

There is no Sprint branded 4.2. It is for the international devices. As such there is nothing to release yet.

So whats gonna be the diffrence in the 4.2 on the int variant and ours?

We use different radios for one.
Understandable

I also believe that if you're lucky enough to snag one destined for the Asian market that those have microSD slots, owing to the smaller size of the radios used.

There really won't be any difference other than compatibility with the Sprint One, visually that is... It will look and operate the exact same.

I think they also might have slightly different iconography, but that's it.
Greeting from Europe where I can't even get in touch with this device. I can't imagine many devs for this device. Why? Exynos and devs in Europe can't do a single thing without the device. Not to mention how lacking the s6 is with development. I would love to atleast give this device a try in terms of developing but I can't get my hands on it. Anyone out there who will actually give it a try?

We're talking of ~1100€, with a more than 1 month of wait.
I'd go with an Edge+, which should be Europes alternative to the Note 5.
P.S. I think i saw you in the a500 development thread

I know the edge+ is supposed to replace it but I personally find the note design and things like the stylus better.
And yes you did see me in the a500 dev thread. I personally like the a series and would support it allot more if I had a A- phone

We're both without an a-phone then.
im really worried about dev support for this device,as this piece is a beast, sadly caged by samsung, with proper dev support this would easily be the best phone around
Samsung devices have too many bloatware, hope to see an AOSP ROM instead..

I'm willing to bet that it is because there is no developer support for the Exynos

Point taken. I'm only seeing where it is "older" devices so far (unless you have found a way to prove me wrong about that too). My original suspicion was that developers were waiting on the release of the Note7 to get cracking. Instead, they would now be waiting on the Note8.
AOSP on the Note series is no good without a working S Pen (might as well have bought a S6, S7 or soon to be released S8)

S Pen could be the only reason that developers give up pure Android...

Hi all, what do you think is 7 Pro 5G worst model due to NO support from custom roms? I can not find even one custom work to support this phone, and to be honest I would like to replace it asap for anything with AOSP support ;/

Got it debloated but how can you compare it to custom Rom and kernel?
Why would you state a phone is the worst model ever strictly based on a lack of custom ROMs? The availability of ROMs has nothing to do with the capability the phone model has. If you want custom ROMs, you could always do the work to make them. If you don't have the knowledge, there are plenty of devs that have provided help to many on this forum, and I'm sure that you could get help if you're willing to spend the time and put in the effort.

As oneplus phones are great for custom firmware and I always buy them because of it. In this case 5G model is just a piece of rubbish as there is literally NO support from devs. You say do it on my own? Yeah I would like to have few hours of spare time every day to play with it, but as I do not have that time I have to sell the phone and buy something "normal".

I understand your concern but if you look in the correct place TG you will find it. ??
What do you mean not compatible? Because bootloader locked? Or is the hardware different? I managed to unlock bootloader, but have not yet tried to flash a ROM. Are you saying a regular ROM will not work for the OP7 Pro just because it's the 5G version? (I don't need 5G anyway if that's the only problem with 5G OP7).
Hello there, I'm planning to switch form my Mi 11 to a S20 FE 5g. Mainly because battery life and the option to use sd cards. My question is why there aren't any AOSP based custom ROMs? This phone seems pretty popular and isn't that expensive compared to other similar speced models.

simple answer, it's proved really hard to get one basic feature to work on 2 separate roms. hopefully this changes one day.

the basic feature is network connection/signal. 2 separate roms, pixel experience and lineage.

I guess a better understanding of how Samsung's blobs or drivers work.
apparently Samsung goes out of their way to make this stuff difficult.
