Moto e5 play: how to replace system phone app - Moto E5 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I hope this forum still has some activity and someone can help me with the issue.
My old mom is using this phone, but original Google's "Phone" app (dealer or how it calls?) is definitely not good for the old people, especially with latest "improvements"
I want to install another phone dealer, something like phone dealer from my Samsung Galaxy S9: on incoming call it should bring a full screen form, with big, visible buttons and clear call details (picture etc.)
Aby recommendations?

The phone app is also referred to as a "dialer
You could look for an alternative dialer on the play store.
You might be able to sideload the samsung dialer. You can try looking on apkmirrior.com for it. You may have to move it to the system partition, which requires root. You also will have to set it as the default app for "phone". This setting is usually found in settings -> system -> apps.
You could also use an app like Tasker to create a "scene" that would display, or audibly announce the caller. There is a forum here on XDA for Tasker if you need help.

Another Math Problem

6 ÷ 2 (2 + 1) =x
1
2chars
Edit after so many days:
The answer doesn't matter. No matter what happens, I'll be proved right AND wrong, having been the point of countless arguments forthcoming in the thread you're about to read.
Its so pointless/repetative/annoying, I don't even wanna argue.
If you use order of operation the answer is 9.

In the USofA they use PEMDAS.
Parenthases, exponent, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.
Annd the result is
x = 9;
I'm curious, why is there a thread dedicated to such a basic math formulae

It was started by a noob, not like he knows better
Since pemdas and bodmas as are used in various areas left to right for multiplication and division is used by default for mathematicians yielding 9 as the answer

PEMDAS, BIMDAS, whatever you want to use, the way it's written the answer is 1. You only get nine if you divide first, which is not how it works. Order of operations states that you take care of the parenthetical operators first, then multiplication, then division.
Honestly, the problem is poorly written and would never appear in a text or problem set that way.

So other than cellular data, everything works? Camera/camcorder/GPSwork, there is no lag, etc?
Thanks
Same bugs as all 4.2.2 ROMs. Data doesn't work I'm always on WiFi though so it doesn't matter to me. WiFi has always worked for me. No gps. Halo is pretty frickin awesome though!! Been using this to for a few weeks and it's great. Also if your try to install a app from SD halo can't been on screen. Weird bug but just remove halo from screen install whatever app from SD then enable halo again and it works. Battery life for me is fine I play music at work on my phone all day and battery lasts basically all day. Thanks for the great port!!! No lag for me. Also grab the halo app from the market

Initial WiFi bug...
Tried to sign in but it failed... Had to switch to one with no protection.
After getting past the first setup, WiFi works normally.
Settings bug...
If you go to change quick settings, and pull them down after changing it, when you press the back button, settings will crash.
ROM overall is pretty smooth, no lag... Only gripe would be the lack of baked in file manager.
Paranoid settings is just like the one from the PAC port...
Also, the boot static is back... (Yay!)
Oh, and for me, it doesn't seem like it wants to read my SD card... Had to remove it and put it back in... Not fun with an otter box...

cj360 has builds for AOSPA 4.0 (ALPHA)...
It has a working Halo and the new Immersive and QuickSettings Edit Modes!
I'm currently using the xt925 version and it's working just great!

Everything working in the XT925 version? I can't live without halo
@Black_halo
I couldn't test anything service/bluetooth related, but for the most part, it's working for me.
Compared to the other 4.4 Roms (CM/Gummy/PSX) it's a little "under-featured" as it's essentially AOSP+Halo/Immersive/QSEdit.
Home button works so I'll be playing around with it. Anything else, I'll just use xposed modules for other things...

I've been trying to wait around for a little kitkat action! I'm still on 4.3 until the devs cook up something with halo and nav bar mods. Not really big on pie since I could kill tasks and turn on my flashlight from the back and home buttons.

Now 4.4.1 source is released, hope we get a better camera app in coming builds.
Now that is great. Where to get source?

[Q] How much free storage with N6 32GB?

Do you know how much internal storage is free with the Nexus 6 32 GB before installing Apps etc?

If I had to guess I would say high 20s. The rom on the phone is no where close to the size of the rom on HTC's and Samsung's so you are looking at 25gb+ most likley.
I would guess the same. Considering it's running ART, it may use more than your used to.

Yup. Cache partition roughly doubles in size, at least under kit kat anyway
close to 26GBs or 25.98 if you want to be technical lol
Sorry for the late reply, i dont want to start a new thread for a question that has been asked a bunch. Why is the available storage space so low for the user? Even on KK all the devices i had still only took up 1 gb max out of their 32 storage. With ART doubling that. About 1-1.5 gb for OS, plus about another 1-2 gb for ART, that is still -3.5 at max. Which gives us about 27.5 gb left. im not too worried about that extra gb but im just curious on where it went. I know im doing my math wrong or underestimating storage needed for the partitions. Anyone care to correct me? Lol
Thank you guys!

Well, firstly lets do a little maths. The internal memory of a 32GB Nexus 6 is not 32GB. The maximum size of data you could fit on any 32GB memory chip is 29.8 GB. The reason for this is that when a hardware manufacturer builds storage, they use 1000 Bytes x 1000 KiloBytes x 1000 MegaBytes = 1 GB.
However, in reality 1 GB = 1024 Bytes x1024 KiloBytes x 1024 MegaBytes
So the maths is easy. If someone tells you "this is a 32 GB memory card", take 32 and divide it by 1024 (3 times) then multiply it by 1000 (3 times) to get the true capacity. In this case, a 32 GB card can hold a maximum of 29.8 GB (or as it has now been coined, GiB not GB)..
So, we have the 29.8 GB version of the Nexus 6... That is the size of the entire internal memory. That needs to be separated into partitions. We have many small ones such as /recovery /boot /radio (I'm not going to be exact or accurate here) then we have the major ones, i.e /system (for the ROM) / data (for all your apps, data and sdcard) and /cache. On the 6, /cache is tiny and /system is 2GB...
Anyway, here is a list of major partitions
Code:
[email protected]:/ # df
Filesystem Size Used Free Blksize
/system 1.9G 553.3M 1.4G 4096
/data 54.6G 23.4G 31.2G 4096
/cache 248.0M 212.0K 247.8M 4096

Actually, I only used GiB for demonstration purposes. I actually reject that GiB exists. A GB is 1024 and that is that!
