How to Access APN Settings? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I have an Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that I used to have an Active line on and I Now have an Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with the Active Line on it.
I would like to know How to Access the APN Settings on the Note 8 that don't have an Active Line.
I have tried typing in the Dial Pad ##3282# and then selected VIEW where when I look down the List to the 6th one down, it's APN Settings.
The Screen that Pops Up after typing ##3282# is the Data Programming Screen with VIEW and below that, EDIT.
When I select EDIT, I get Enter MSL.
I don't know what to put on the line for MSL.
Can Anyone Help with this?

New Contact 425 area code

Why do the 8125, tilt, and tytn II all default to the 425 area code when adding a new contact and how do I change that?
I am pretty sure 425 is a Seattle area code (you know... the MS mothership). You can change the default area code by opening Contacts and selecting Menu-> Options... you will see a box to enter in the default area code.
Hope that helps.
awesome! thanks.
does anyone know how to display all incoming telephone numbers without the brackets, is there a registry edit for this.

Basic Vodafone settings

Hi guys,
I have recently purchased a T-Mobile Vario III from a friend (unwanted upgrade) and unlocked it to use with my Vodafone PAYT SIM. I've also performed just about all of the de-branding available on this forum. However, the internet connection settings are still on T-Mobile and I can't find anywhere the settings I need to enter to get my phone to connect via Vodafone. I've searched this forum but I only get the Vodafone Live fix and I've tried Vodafone but they can't/won't help.
Can anyone help please?
Richard.
(Also asked on MoDaCo.com if you think you've read this recently...)
Must be on here somewhere:

How To Get A Verizon Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V) To work with AT&T Network

Ultimately, I was unsuccessful in making this work. I changed my carrier to get the phone to work.
I broke my old reliable S3 and I needed a new used phone. I got a Galaxy S5 off craigslist for $80. I ran into some problems getting it to work right. I really would have liked a page like this to explain me through the problems I encountered in one place, so here it is. I got my problems fixed last night and here's how I did it.
Here are some of the biggest issues I had.
How to get network network access.
How to get the phone to stop saying non-verizon sim
How to get the phone to dial in-call (for automated systems like entering conference call numbers or extensions, etc.)
How to call back people who call me.
I also established root on my phone which wasn't really necessary after all but I'll explain how anyway...
Network access was easy:
Go to Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Then tap the + to add a new network.
You can get these settings from your carrier. I'm using H2O Wireless ($30/month unlimited) which runs on the AT&T Network. I just googled h2o wireless access point names and I got instructions straight from their website. Maybe these will work with other AT&T Network based carriers.
Name: (doesn't matter)
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: 66.209.11.33
Port: 80
Username: <Blank>
Password: <Blank>
Server: <Blank>
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: <Blank>
MMS Port: <Blank>
MCC: <Blank>
MNC: <Blank>
APN Type: <Blank>
Press Menu and then Save.
Make Phone Calls
In order to make phone calls, you will have to change the network mode.
Go to Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode
Most instructions I saw said to change it to Global, but I had a problem where the phone wouldn't dial inside a call so anything with an automated menu wouldn't work. I changed it to GSM / UMTS and that solved it.
**Update, after upgrading back to Android 5.0 (lollipop) I began having the problem of not being able to dial in calls again. I fixed it by going to:
settings>applications>call>
Scroll down to DTMF tones and change setting to long.
Kill Message About Non-Verizon SIM
Really this message doesn't do anything but I didn't like it cluttering my notifications. The solution I'm using needs to be repeated every time I restart the phone. No big deal to me.
1. Open notifications by dragging down from top of phone.
2. Click and hold on the notification about the sim. I message will pop up "about app" or something. Click on it and it will open up the program "Setup Wizard"
3. Force close the app, clear cache and clear data. The message will go away until you restart your phone.
***If you want it to go away forever, you will probably have to block the program permanently, which may require root access. One solution is using titanium backup pro (costs $6) to freeze the program.
***This thread includes a nice program that will fix this issue and remove other unwanted programs from your phone (requires root)

How to call people back
Sounds simple enough and the most basic land line phones can do it, but somehow, this became a problem. When someone called be, when I went to my call log an tapped on the number to call them back, the call wouldn't go through. Annoying... For this, I 'm using an app called "Prefixer" available on Google Play.
1. Download and open prefixer
2. Tap "outgoing calls"
3. Tap + icon on bottom left of screen (this will create a new rule) and tap "manual"
4. Scroll down under actions and tap "remove characters"
5. Enter \+ and click "ok"
6. Repeat for "incoming calls"
*Note: I already had root access when using this program, I don't think this program requires root access but if it does, follow instructions below.
Establishing Root Access
Problems Faced and Solved
1. Rooting programs I tried (towelroot and kingo root) didn't work
2. Phone bricked after downgrading to kitkat
Establishing Root access what much more difficult than anticipated. Firstly, the instructions on this page will tell you to use towelroot (available at towelroot.com) but I got an error message saying the device is not supported. This wasn't true. It''s the android OS (operating system like windows 7, etc.) that wasn't supported. That's when I learned about the different android versions (kitkat, lollipop, etc.). android 4.4 is kitkat and android 5.0 is lollipop. My phone had lollipop and I had to downgrade to kitkat.
Please note, I don't know a lot at all on this topic. This is just a compilation of info I gathered over the course of about 2 days, mostly on this xda site. Thanks to the hosts of this site and all the developers who are helping us take control of our phones. All this being said...
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY OUTCOME OF YOU TRYING TO ROOT YOUR PHONE OR INSTALL/FLASH YOUR OS AS YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
First backup your files. and I suggest watching this video from @rootjunky
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j_VCf73UZc
Here are instructions for downgrading of Kitkat and upgrading back to lollipop with root access. If you need to downgrade to kitkat, look at the bottom of the instructions page for that info. Hope this helps.

I hope this is helpful. I can't guarantee I'll be able to answer any questions...
I have a verizon account, Verizon doesnt have the S5 Active only AT&T have the S5 Active if I use the Sim card from my S4 in the S5 Active will it work???
I'm not sure, I suggest calling verizon to ask. Is the S5 a verizon phone? If not, you are taking a risk.
