Hello there
Long story short, I updated my Mi 8 (Global Version) to MIUI 11.0.1.0 before the update got suspended. A few weeks ago, my network provider had some technical difficulties, so I lost the signal a few times throughout the day.
A few days later it happened again, even though my provider fixed everything.
But this time I also lost my WiFi connection and I didn't get it back to work.
After rebooting, my SIM did not get recognized and my phone didn't want to connect to the WiFi network
After rebooting it over and over again for like 10mins, everything worked again.
But this issue occured every day since then.
A few days ago I updated my phone to MIUI 11.0.3.0 and the issue was gone for a day or two.
But now I am experiencing those things again, but this time it usually takes a few seconds and the sim activation service starts again and everything works fine for the next few hours until it happens again.
I will provide a full log later, hopefully someone can figure something out.
I really don't know whether it's a software or hardware issue, but losing signal and WiFi like every hour is driving me crazy and I'd like to avoid resetting my phone....
Oh and by the way, I don't have TWRP installed and it's not rooted or anything else.
Hi,
With me it happened exactly the same, I already paid to solve it and nobody has done it until now. I already lost hope of ever being able to repair
I've been having the same problem.
It's been incredibly frustrating.
[Update:] I went to a local repair shop, it's a hardware related issue.
For everyone else having this issue, try the USSD Code *#06#
If you receive an error, your Baseband Chip may be broken.
At least that's what I was told.
I have unknown baseband, did you replace the baseband chip?
if I put *#06# (no sim card in phone) it just shows up blank white pop-up with label IMEI, but no IMEI number or numbers or nothing else.
Mi8 no signal SIM/WIFI
Hello again
Same problem to my Mi8
When I tap *#06# show my MEID, IMEI1 and IMEI 2
Did you solve the problem ?!
Good morning. I have an MI8 MIUI 11, when I insert the SIM it recognizes it and disconnects itself constantly, the connection is not stable, when I turn on the wifi with the SIM on, the wifi is constantly disconnected and at times the wifi does not turn on, at some point too only the computer was restarted. When I take out the SIM the wifi works stable and well. Any idea of the problem ?? soft or hard? A technician told me that the problem is the display module, but they tested it without the SIM so I calculate that it is not the issue.
Yes, Hardware problem
Confirmed the problem is the baseband, but this cell phone model has the baseband integrated in the SoC (CPU, GPU, NPU and Ram) all one, it seems that it is a soldering problem

Yesterday I got my brand new Diamond and when I got home the first thing I did was update the ROM from the htc website, everything went ok, I made a call, did some settings and let it to charge, later on I saw that I had No service with the SIM that I had in it originally, I started freaking out of course, rebooted, did soft reset, did hard reset, I even reinstalled the flash to make sure everything went ok. The signal did not work, I mean it got the signal, after 2 seconds loose it, after 1-2 minutes found network again and after 2 seconds loosing it and that was going on. So I tried a SIM card from another network which worked, then I tried a friends SIM from the first network which did not work. Eventually, I selected the network manually on my sim and it started up but only with 2 lines on signal. It seems to be working since last night with 2-3 lines signal but I suspect that could be that we have low 3G coverage over here, anyway.
Has anybody else encountered this problem ? Why do you think this happened? Should I rush into the store to take it back or is it some settings or software?
Also I have the rom from the htc website, is there any other version that works better?
Also could anybody give me a quote on the battery life because I am uncertain of it, I am not pretentious, if it holds up 2-3 days with normal use(phone + a little wi-fi and whatnot) then I am satisfied.
Thank you.
did you take your sim out while you flashed the ROM?
Umm... I must be stupid or something but I didn't, I must say this is not my first phone flashing so I don't know what was in my mind, did I damage the SIM or what ? It seems to work now though...
I've never flashed without taking the sim out, having said that I know people who have flashed with the SIM in and havn''t had a problem. But then there's a few that have had issues when the sim was left in during flash. Good to hear that it's working again.
If I encouter the problem again do you think flashing it without the sim will solve it ?
Also what ROM do you have? Do you recommend one that is better than the one from the HTC website?
What is your battery life average?
well it's hard to know - if you flash again be sure to take out the sim, but if the problem persists maybe you need to get a sim replaced. I work for Telstra here in Australia and a replacement sim costs $30. But if we "say" the sim has "failed" there is no replacement charge.
I am waiting for elite 2.5 rom which is due to be released any moment here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403296&page=18
My battery life is pretty good - it holds up 2-3 days with normal use (phone + a little wi-fi and whatnot) but if I do alot of browsing I need to charge every day.
I understand, well, what it was strange is that it didn't work with any other SIM I tried from Vodafone network, I tried my friends and another one but worked fine with a sim from another network during that time when I had the problem.
I will keep my eye on it and hope it doesn't happen again.
Do you use Yahoo by any chance on your device? I get the e-mails perfectly with the imap server but I can't get to send any e-mail with the smtp server the phone has configured automaticly...
probably the default settings for yahoo are diff...i think it requires a reg change possibly to fix? not sure....
regarding the flashing...i've flashed my diamond around 7-8 times, not sure...pretty much tried every cooked rom here cept for 1 or 2 and the official WWE ones...never had any issues with flashing (and my sim was inside the phone every one of these times)...
it happend to me
it happend to me, in places with low signal... hapend a lot
what solve it was flasing the radio rom 1.00.25.05 i think it may solve all your ploblems.
please let us know
pd. i had signal problems with al the older radio roms even the 1.00.25.03
thanks jr-daza, i will search for the rom to flash now.
is there a place on the forum where i can download it ?
Okey so ive had my diamond for 3 weeks and have had this issue. The device worked fine for 2 weeks except for this problem that it keeps dropping the connection and just says "no service" but when i disable and re-enable the phone radio i get full signal. However one time the device froze and i had to soft reset. After which it said the "sim card is missing, you can make emergency calls if your service provider supports it" when the sim card was in the phone. I tried resets and cleaning the sim all to no avail. So after not being able to find anyone else with this problem i figured it must be my old 2g sim that had been causing the problems so i went and purchased a new 3g sim from my service provider (mobilezone [switzerland]) and inserted it into the device. Everything starts working again and i figure the problem is fixed. However the phone continues to drop the signal again and again over the next few days and finally kills the sim card again, and displays the same "sim missing..." error. So i have now taken it back to the retailer and they say there seems to be no issue with the device as the technichen inserts a new sim and everything works fine. The thing is that the sim cards are completely broken. They no longer work in any device!!! But it took 2 weeks the first time and 3 days the second, so the technicians agreed to test the device for a couple days, im just sure its gna work fine for that amount of time but screw up again after when i use it again. Can anyone provide any insight into this? I speculate that its perhaps an issue with my service provider since they do not have their own network but use orange (switzerland) with their custom network settings, and when configuring the device the WM6 connection wizard only has 3 options and my provider is not listed, so i use the orange config settings, which i thought may be slightly different and cause problems. Ideas?!?!?
Thanks in advance.
Sam

If it helps, I had to have a new sim to use it in my new phone (not the diamond, a nokia) because it didn't work properly, as it was a relatively old sim.
Hi did you ever get your sim problem sorted, have been experiencing same,
except my sim still work on other phones?
My N1 will not reconnect to a mobile network if it has been sitting for a few hours in a no-coverage area, such as a building. I cannot get it to reconnect, even after refreshing the network search. This action only leaves me with no result or a message saying that there was an error in searching or connecting to mobile networks. The only solution is to restart the phone. Every time I try to turn the phone off after this error has occurred, the shutdown sequence hangs until either I become frustrated and do a battery pull, or it automatically restarts and do a battery pull, or it automatically restarts itself. Furthermore, the phone used to give me an error notification saying that the phone does not have carrier service. Now, it does not. Furthermore, the phone used to give me an error notification saying that the phone does not.
I tried uninstalling all my programs and nothing has worked for me. I've also tried toggling the airplane mode to no avail.
I'm considering putting on the cyanogen ROM to see if it would fix this error, but I am hesitant to void my warranty. It's a pretty serious problem as I'm very frequently in a building where I don't get service. It's quite frustrating to have to wait to reconnect to a mobile network once I leave the building and hope that the error didn't occur or have to do a battery pull every time I realize that the phone simply won't reconnect.
Can anyone suggest any solutions?
Mod it. What have you got to lose? Your overall performance will increase. The radio signal may even improve. Your call.

thanks for the tip. i've been thinking about it. it's the warranty i don't want to lose. eh i'll keep thinking about it.
this phone sucks. it's glitchy, can be sluggish. iphone got dumbed down but at least its functions work.
meh
Hey!
You dont want to lose your warranty, then use it!
Your phone seems to be faulty...
My phone is experiencing the same problem as of yesterday. Won't connect. Wonder if it's a T-Mobile issue.

Its only glitchy coz you have stock rom
Cyanogen is really stable and adds alot of features / functionality.
Fair enough you dont want to lose warranty but i remember in the general thread that lots of hardware failures and others can still fix your n1 under warranty even though they unlocked the bootloader.
I too have this problem, hopefully the 2.2 update will fix the problems.
Can you guys confirm if its android or your service provider thats causing this...

I have the same problem and it's starting to bother me a lot because my car is parked in a garage with no coverage. My in-car BT then becomes useless as my phone won't reconnect to the network once I exit the garage
I just called Google support 10 mins ago about this and they went through normal protocol to reset to factory settings. They then called Tmo and let them know what the issue was while I was still on the phone. Tmo unregistered my phone from the network while my battery was taken out of my phone and then reregistered my phone to the network. Tmo asked me to monitor this for a few days and call them directly (not Google) if the issue persists. They will then elevate this to a higher level because they feel this would be a network problem, and not a hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Please post what you have tried to solve the problem!

^ it worked! my phone reconnects to the cellular network after what Google/Tmo did for me on the phone!
I haven't tried calling tmobile, but it is NOT something that will be fixed by hopping on cyanogen's rom. I've been rooted on cyanogen's rom for quite some time and this problem still exists on my n1 which is SUPER annoying. I will try calling tmobile to see if they can fix it on their side, but rooting is not the fix here.
I had the same issue. I used anycut and phone info shortcut and changed the wireless default setting to us and it totally fixed the problem. Have not had that issue again.

I resolved this by going to the T-Mobile store where they replaced my SIM card. They made a copy to a new SIM card, installed it and everything works fine.
For the record symptoms included:
* "Error while searching for network" message
* Found networks but said "your SIM card is not authorized for this network" when connecting
* Network listed as "No service" or "Emergency calls only | T-Mobile"
I get this too with an at&t phone.
Have asked for a replacement device from HTC (since the reception is crappy to begin with).
I also have audio quality problems when reception is only 1-2 bars.
Will see if the new phone is better.
I had this problem regularly. It hasn't happened once since I upgraded to Froyo, so I think it has been fixed in that release.
sometimes have this too, i fix it by going to the settings > wireless > mobile networks > APN. at first i deleted and retyped my password in the selected APN, now i just click my network in the APN settings, don't change anything and leave. It immediately reconnects after that.
edit: and i have stock froyo & live in belgium.
I got a new, replacement phone from HTC today.
This new phone has a BIG PROBLEM with this issue.
Even if I am only without reception for a couple of seconds (go through the garage, etc.) it will not connect to any network until I reboot.
My old phone would only experience this problem maybe 25-35% of the time.
Very, very annoying!!!

I had similar issues and called tmobile support. I was first linked to Google support. They went through the similar process as described by in the first page. (#*#*4636*#*# select USA band etc). While I was on hold, they called t mobile tech support and had them reset network connection and tried to get me onto a different tower etc.
Tmobile support stated that my sim card (had for about 2 years) was the cause of the issue as they can't handle smartphones as well as their new sim cards. They also said the new sim should improve reception and connection stability (Don't see how a new sim could do this but what do I know?). Moreover, they noted my account and told me to go into the nearest store for a new sim card. Went into the nearest tmobile store told them the issue, they pulled up my account and gave me a new sim. Took less then 5 minutes and I have not had the issue with staying connected to the tmobile network.
I will update this after a few days to see if I still have the issue.
I have the same problems that i cannot connect to network here in germany. first i think it was my sim card, but befor i had another provider (E-Plus) where i had the same problems with reconnecting to network. and one day my eplus sim card is broken so i had to buy a new one by t-mobile. i have tried a lot of roms from here (cyanogen/ 5.0.7 /5.0.8T5 Kangorama rodriquezstyle and leofroyo) everyone seems to have the same problems with reconnecting to network. i hope im not alone with my problems and someone can help.
hmm...
Count me as another. I just upgraded to froyo and it went beserk. Had no service for a while. It would only come on after constantly tapping "select network automatically" until it kicked me out of the menu. It started getting better but kept kicking me out of 3g. I set it to stay always on 3g and it seems to be better... still I'm going to call tmobile and see if I can get a new sim as well.
Thanks for the info guys!
Few days back I had issue with the USB module. I went to samsung repair store to fix it (not the authorized one ). After that I was returning home and mid-way the signal went to zero. I tried different roms, full wipe, stock rom but nothing worked.
Now the strange thing. Next day i was going back to work and mid way the sim started working, even 3G was working fine. But again when i was going back home the same issue happened.
So i tested and found that 1km around my house, i get no signal and the same issue occurs on few other places. Same sim works perfectly on other phone.
Has anyone faced this issue?
Sounds like your device is having trouble registering at your local base station. A call to your service provider might help. Good luck!
also check your logs for rill crashes. You could have a rom with faulty issues there.
Or you may not have connected the usb module correctly. You may need to check if all connectors are properly aligned.
However its more likely if its at the same geographical location your connection breaks that its a bad connection area. Call your provider and tell them lol
Sorry if this kind of problem has come up before, but I couldn't find anything similar to this so I decided to ask you guys if you have seen this before.
So, my problem started out of nowhere, my Nokia 8 (TA-1004) lost wifi and mobile data. I can't connect to wifi anymore and I have no service.
So here comes the weird part. My sim works in every other phone I've tested it, it just doesn't work in mine, AND every other sim card I've tested in my phone
works fine. My sim also blocks my wifi somehow, if it's inserted, it keeps turning off my phone's wifi, no matter how many times I keep turning it on. If I take
sim out, wifi works fine.
I forgot to mention that when this first occurred, I managed to get it work by turning on my phone with my brother's sim inserted, then switching his sim to mine without turning the phone off.
If I turned it off, the problem came back. Now, after Oreo 8.1 update and new sim-card, even this method doesn't work. Nothing has worked since.
Here's what I've done:
-Got new sim-card
-Factory reset through settings
-Wipe data/factory reset through recovery
-I called my operator, they didn't know what the problem is. They recommended to send my phone to manufacturer, but I hope it doesn't come to that. And maybe they
would try their sims in my phone and they would think there is no problem so no need to do anything.
Any help is highly appreciated, thanks
This is very strange problem. Only thing that comes to my mind as a solution is choosing the network by yourself
Sent from my TA-1012 using XDA Labs
I can't change any mobile network settings, because my sim card is detected only for a few seconds and then it's not, so it keeps turning it on and off.
Now I've tried my phone with two sim cards, my brother's (which worked fine on its own) and mine, and turns out that with my sim the other sim doesn't work either.
Same problem here...
every sim card works on the nokia 8 except the one that needs to work...
every other telephone works fine with said sim...
It is a complete new phone so we never tried it with an earlier version than android 8.1
Same problem here, I'm not sure if I downgrade the phone to 7.1 will it work again
Hello,
I have quite similar problem with my phone apart the fact that it was working perfectly with data until I receive Android Oreo 8.1 update (security update 1st Mai 2018). Since this upgrade data doesn't work with my SIM into Slot 1.
When I use the same SIM into slot 2 (hybrid slot that normally contains my memory card) then Data is back.
Do you have the same on your phone?
PS : I've contacted Nokia and their answer is : We have a lot of users reporting this, we are working on it.... I'm miss my old samsung S5....at least the updates were tested before release.
Nokia hotspot failed
I have the similar problem as I've changed the service provider. The new service has 50GB data volume. When turned the hotspot on for wifi sharing with my family, this function did not work but it was showing other devices had connected to the Nokia 8 but unable to use the wifi sharing. Therefore, I inserted the new 50GB sim to my daughter's iPhone 6 and it was running well when turned the iPhone 6 hotspot on. i.e. the sim card got nothing wrong. I did ask Nokia support and they did not find any issues on my Nokia 8. I reckon that must be the phone software / firmware problem as I could share the wifi for my family before I switched to the new service provider. Hope Nokia fix up this issue when they launch the new update. I feel depressed on this brand. I'd been using iPhones & Google Nexus 5 were running perfectly except Nokia.

I am very sad
I have the same problem.
What was the solution?

Hey there,
I'm having the cellular connection dropping out 80% of the time and then coming back on randomly 20% of the time since the latest beta update (build 00WW_5_110_SP01).
I asked to revert back to the latest stable build OTA several days ago and still no notification.
