Yo
I recently got my s10+ which is similar to s9+ and i am bored of it..
Do you guys think good idea jump from s10+ to p30 pro?
I am using it for fb insta messenger movies sometimes games, full Netflix etc.. taking photos sure at day and night ik the big difference is thst the p30 pro is beast at night photos..
Someone who changed from s10+ to p30 pro tell me their opinion.
I think to change my P30 Pro to S10+ or S20+. On P30 Pro like only battery and night photo. On Android 10 I think that the quality on photo is worse than Android 9, don't like the display and color. Sometimes the day photon is with not real color, mostly with the green color.
Like this photo. On both photo the grass is green, but the green on photo is missing or is very little. Sometimes the photo is great....When AI is on and say that the photo is "grass", then the color is great and it's green, but when say anything else, like "snow", the green color is missing....
I can't advise you anything, but I'm showing what I don't like on P30 Pro.

What about the weight of the device?
Fingerprint and screen colours or brightness?
I switched from S9 to P30 and wish I'd kept my S9, things are better with EMUI 10 but I will be switching to the S20 Ultra asap
What about screen colours and brightness on p30 pro?
Screen colors are not punchy on s10, I came from an s10 to the p30 pro and I regret it everyday, I don't take thst many night photos, screen resolution is lower, no stereo speakers, no microssd, sad face.
The zoom is amazing but it sucks thst the zoom camera is so bad, the second u zoom in it washes out.
I was in the same place.. Had a P20pro and they stole it the guy took it from my hand inside my car and boom gone.... So I was between P30pro ans S10+, for my luck the provider had only S10+ nd closed box P30pro... And to make it worst back then it was the begging of US x China and google huwaei problem so nothing was clear about P30 pro nd future updates, so went with S10+. After 3 month Huwaei opened a shop and went there with my brother, took it and tried the camera took few photos with both of them. So I was so sad that i didnt pick it up in the first place, its camera was amazing, maybe it lose a bit with front camera and in video recording, but main camera the x5 wide was all perfect, took lots of nice photos, so sold my S10+ and picked the P30Pro.... 2 things aside from camera i loved it.
1. charging time, so if u forgot to charge ur phone and you need to leave in 15m that was enough to charge it , with S10+ it only charged like 5% while around 25% on the P30 pro.
2. S10+ drain battery quick, so if i leave it 100% and go to sleep next day 8am its around 78%-70% why dont ask me !!!! P30 pro 100% wake up and woow it was 99% so when i go to work S10+ need to charge it 2 to 3 times or else i get home at 8pm or it went off or its under 10%... While P30pro with one charge i get home and its about 39% to 30% without charging it. So for me those 2 things and the camera was the best thing for me..... UI on S10+ bit better but not big deal... so in the end both are great phones, if video, UI, and game frames are important go to S10+ but if camera Battery are more important you wont be disp.

Yes, photos on the P30 Pro are not really colurful. And depending on the light, they are really yellow sometimes.

depends, remember if you shoot in Pro mode with RAW on the jpeg you get is direct from RAW file and bypasses in house jpeg processing like when it auto mode, massive difference in IQ, much more natural looking output, Huawei is the only OEM that has this ability, all other OEMs use auto jpeg even in Pro mode with RAW. See crop below, auto jpeg at top and jpeg from RAW in Pro mode at bottom. And I had the S10+ and the P30 Pro IQ is way more natural, none of that plasticky look, especially if you use above method.

I own the Mate 10 and yet the Mate 9 has a better screen.
I put my Mate 9 side by side with my Mate 10 and did lots of comparisons. The Mate 9 is much brighter and has more vivid punchier colours and has better viewing angles.
I made sure colour temperature was the same. Brightness was the same. Everything was the same. Mate 10 has warmer tone even though settings are the same. Mate 9 is WAY BRIGHTER regardless of auto brightness on or off. I played a HDR video on my Mate 10 and the same video on my Mate 9 and I could swear the Mate 9 was better. Also tilting the phones to the same angle, the Mate 9 retained its colours much more that the 10.
Yes the Mate 10 has a good screen but if you compare it to Mate 9, resolution aside, Mate 9 wins hands down. Shocking really! Don't believe me? Have a Mate 9? Test it yourself.
Going by gsmarena tests, Mate 9 does not distinguish between vivid, normal & auto for brightness. While the Mate 10 does. So Mate 10 gives peak brightness when in auto+sunlight. Otherwise it never achieves max brightness. So did you compare the two at max brightness or on a more real usage level of brightness ? If you think the brightness should be adjustable to much higher rates, than i guess you have to send feedback so they can do that with a rom update.
Also, Mate 10 seems to have deeper black than Mate 9 while latter has better contrast ratio .
And some other aspects advertised by Huawei:

See this post from Xda, the screen looks amazing on that Gold version and the reviewer said that screen is Second best after Note 8. I am getting very suspicious with the Black version or more specifically with the chance that they can have different panels.

Waiting for Damir (youtube) review of the Mate 10.
His copy is a black one and he used a Mate 9 too.
Let's see what he has to say.
Of course I am not sure and I want to be wrong as I ordered the black version too. The video you posted looks goods btw, not impressive but still very good
In my country only the Pro version will be available so I can't see it (non pro) live before ordering one online. Sh!t
It's funny how scare mongering starts. Nothing wrong with black ones. Mine is lovely.
Yes the 9 has brighter manual control brightness, but the 10 will get brighter in direct sunlight than the manual control allows

How did you get it early in the UK?
Did a quick walk through the local public garden.

For the images below I stood in the shade, focused on the tree in the centre, left everything on auto with the AI turned off.
I wasn't too impressed with the wide angle shot, though I didnt spend a lot of time messing around with exposure or shutter speed since I only had a small window of time to take photos.
This weekend ill go to the main city and do some nightshots.

How does the night mode compare to the P20 Pro? Some reviews show the P20 pro taking sharper and more detailed night shots (both night mode and dark scenes in normal) better that the Mate 20 Pro. What did you see when comparing the two
photos are really great i think, but what about the video recording ? I have seen some samples and i seems that video recording can become blurred, not sharp by just simple walking.. is there any alternative camera app without video quality problems or SW update will be needed ?

I had a P30 pro briefly at launch but only just picked one up again. My motivation was that outside the current iPhone and 4 XL it should be the next best camera (and in some areas better)
The thing is so far it is massively disappointing, night mode especially actually to the point where I am starting to wonder if I have a faulty device. So far night mode shots are really not that impressive and absolutely worse than the S10+ and Mate 20 pro and not even in the vicinity of the 4 XL or iPhone which I was not expecting at all.

Post some sample shots?
This is not scientific at all but I'd qualify this by saying that I was a professional photographer in a previous life so like to think that I understand lighting.
As I say not scientific and I've to been able to shoot them side by side, #1 is the p30 pro #2 the 4xl in arguably lower light.

I am not a heavy night mode user, but yesterday I notice some kind of violet like fog in a couple of pics taken without touching settings. There was no visible fog in the sky but it was very visible in all pictures taken to the sky or the road in front of me.
I don't use night mode at all unless I need a full exposed shot of the entire scene. P30 pro has 500k ISO and you can maximize it's high ISO capability when you tap on the dark portion of the scene to properly expos it without the need of using night mode
I noticed that Night mode is actually same as just taking a photo. Literally you hold phone still for 6 seconds, and you get the same result as when you just tap and shoot in auto mode.
Something must be wrong there..
The difference is subtle between night mode and photo mode. You capture more detail and dynamic range in night mode. Especially if you set the ISO value low. But the difference is hard to see on the phone screen. On a desktop computer, it's quite dramatic. So no need to mess with night mode if your pics will only be viewed on your phone and posted to social media.

If you looked at the (i) info for each photo you'd see there is a big difference in how it takes the shot / settings used, for one thing normal auto mode you do not need to hold the phone still for X seconds...

I have to strongly disagree about night mode. I got my p30 pro yesterday and HAD to test night mode. It was very dark and the pic looks as if I took it during the day.. just WOW...so kool! I love this phone. The battery charged 100% the next morning %99. Then use it off and on and right now %91. I again LOVE this phone.
At the club, at the bar, or just in your mom's basement, nighttime is when you come out to play. Rate this thread to express how the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra's camera performs when no or low light is present. A higher rating indicates that the camera sensor "sees" lots of light in dim conditions, and that the resulting photos have minimal noise. A higher rating also indicates that when the flash fires, the resulting photo is evenly-lit without any bright spots.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I have 3 phones atm - Note 20 Ultra, P30 Pro (global), and Xiaomi Mi Note 9S w/GCAM. I never imagined the N20U would be able to match the camera quality of Mi Note 9S w/ GCAM, however after taking some daytime and also low light photography, N20U takes the best pics out of all three of my phones. Even night mode. However, I don't like the all white balance, and even though you can change that in Pro Mode, when you take pictures in Auto Mode, I hate the color that all Samsung phones give out, and prefer iPhones and Huawei phone color temperatures / hues. Also, there were certain scenarios (although not many), where the P30 Pro or the Note 9S w/GCAM took better pics, but that's expected. N20U took better pics than both of the other phones 75-90% of the time, even night time photography
it's all subjective. You like it 75-90% of the time. It doesn't mean 75-90% of everyone else will like it 75-90% of the time. With camera modules basically being made all by Sony or Samsung, they all look the same. besides, I haven't known anyone to print their pics. it's being compressed or filtered onto VSCO or IG anyway does it really matter? Just take your picture and be happy with it. Unless you have a 99 dollar tracphone, it's the same quality...and even if you do have that $99 tracphone, your grandma can't tell what phone it was taken on when you post it on fb.

Software & image processing makes an immense difference - hence the constant desperation for broken GCam ports.
As a S20 Ultra owner - that phone has supposedly great hardware but has demonstrably awful image processing in a myriad of everyday situations (it's still way below par compared to its peers, after all the updates).
-----
On topic, the processing on the Note 20 Ultra is significantly better than my S20U in basically every scenario & camera mode I tried it in, including Low Light (my S20U's photos look like watercolor messes in comparison). The S20U only takes passable images with bright sunlight or sunlight-equivalent indoor lights. It fails miserably at processing images the dimmer the lighting gets, which I didn't find to be a problem on the S20U out-of-the-gate on Auto mode.
Can they bring the software updates to the S20U?
The Note 20 Ultra camera is identical to the S20 Ultra.
Low light on the S20 Ultra is better.
Clearly there needs to be an update for the Note 20 Ultra.
And like the S20 Ultra, it's impossible to take a picture of a document and have clear text across the frame.
Hopefully they go back to the drawing board for the S30 and choose a different sensor/lens combo.
The iPhone 12 camera is going to blow this one away as the 11 Pro is already better.
auto low light example that's lit by LEDs. Not bad.

it's all subjective.

Actually even with same cameras and sensors, you can have Vastly different output. Just look at Pixel phones, alot of other manufacturers use the same exact sensor however its the software engineering that makes pixel phones take great pics. You just sound like an argumentative person, I was just providing my personal experience, and never mentioned that other people's experience would be the same

cool story bro. fact remains, still looks the same when filters are applied and compressed when posted on social media.
FYI, on the Mi 10 Ultra, this should be the clearance you will need to have for phone clamps and gimbals if you don't want them to appear in the shot of the ultrawide camera.

Phone clamps will have to be mounted off-center to the right.
It's possible that the only way to mount this in a gimbal without getting part of the clamp or gimbal in the shot would likely be to use a tray-style gimbal (not a clamp style ie. DJI Osmo 2/3, Zhiyun Smooth X, Hohem iSteady X, etc.) with a way to offset the phone or add counterweights.
I'm eager to hear about personal experiences with gimbals on this phone though!
We still don't know if the geometric center is the center of gravity though. I wonder if the battery weight could move the center of gravity away from the camera system.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.

The geometric center is almost assuredly not the center of gravity. Most every other phone has the center of gravity towards the charging port (right side in the diagram) but the huge problems with the Mi 10 Ultra are that:
- The ultrawide lens is the lens closest to the center of the phone, which is an incredibly stupid thing for Xiaomi to do. They've done the same on the Mi 9 and other Mi 10 phones as well, so this isn't new or special for Xiaomi. It's a dumb design flaw that has persisted across multiple iterations of their phones.
- The ultrawide lens is the widest ultrawide on any smartphone right now.
- Any infringement on the ultrawide will be occurring on the horizontal side of videos shot in landscape orientation, so you don't be able to crop in without losing a ton of resolution and field of view.

So, 8k on every lens except for the 2x?
Any info on the bitrate, fps, manual mode for 8k?
Do you think the phone could be balanced on a gimbal and UW be used in 8k?

And we're back to my solution - shooting in 8k UW, zooming, cropping and producing 4k.
Probably not the best for anyone but I'm currently working that way. Using a phone as a B cam, shooting in 4k and cropping but, as you can imagine, quality is far from perfect.
That's why I so hope Mi 10 ultra shoots high quality UW 8k and gives me some control over the process.

8k is not available on the ultrawide:

I have been using this for a week and had no problems with it. Exaggeration that u need to hold it awkwardly or fingers will be in the viewfinder.
Thanks for the clarification. Did you try to mount it in a gimbal and shooting UW?

I don't have the phone, but just by looking at the measurements I can't imagine how any gimbal could work on this with the ultrawide. If it's not the clamp and roll motor immediately getting into the view, the tilt motor probably would.
I'm also unable to find any videos shot on YouTube with the ultrawide and a gimbal for any of the previous Xiaomi phones with their ultrawide in a similar position on the phone.
I don't understand gimbals much because I never looked into them but based on the above info: when you need a gimbal, would it be possible to attach a removable lead or iron weight to the bottom of the phone to bring the center of gravity way towards that end?
Impossible to use with a gimbal
I bought the mi 10 ultra due to the wider opening angle of the market in wide camera. I tested all the shooting modes and in all of them there is a specific phone stabilization system EXCEPT the video made with the wide camera, which makes the use of the gimbal mandatory if you want a stable video. But the wide camera is in the MIDDLE of the device, that is, the arm and the motor of the gimbal cover all the video on the right side of the scene. Some users are saying to crop the video, but crop videos do not require the gimbal, yet if you want to use it, the gimbal still appears.
