My phone compass goes crazy when i turn the phone face down horizontally. Compass calibration goes crazy and also have some problem with navigation.
Cpu z shows 2 magnetosensors and 1 of them is aleay uncalibrated. Is this a hardware issue?
I read that persist.img might be corrupted when downgraded to miui 10 but I am on 11.0.3 global and never downgraded. Should I go to warranty?

Hi,
I am encountering the light and compass Sensors not working after 4.4.4 update on my Z1.
I have checked the service menu and it shown no value to both the sensors... Need help to solve this... I am rooted btw..
Yes! I have had this problem for a few months now, but no-one on this forum seems to be experiencing this so I thought it might just be my phone.
The light sensor issue for me is intermittent, if I restart the phone then it would be fine for a day or two before it stops working.
The compass however simply does not register, the service menu shows no value for it and in Google Maps the arrow is always pointed North.
I have Note8. It has a very strange sensors error, as below:
- All sensors, from proximity sensor, light sensor, to GPS, iris scanner, and all the other sensors do not work at all.
- In the app like Phone INFO Samsung, CPU-Z or AIDA64, in the Sensors section, all sensors do not work.
- The Auto Brightness function does not work (due to the light sensor), the brightness of the AOD screen is also not adjustable.
- When making a phone call and move the phone close to the ear, the screen does not turn off due to proximity sensor.
- Auto Rotation function is not working (due to rotation sensor).
- Google Maps shows inaccurate location. Other apps that rely on GPS (such as the speedometer app) are completely not working.
- The iris scanner function does not work either.
It was about two weeks ago. I've Wiped the cache, restart the phone but does not make sense.
Yesterday it suddenly returned to normal, I don't know why.
But today - while I'm typing this post - all sensors suddenly do not work again.
Any idea about the error and how to fix it?
Thank you guys
Best advice I can think of is to factory reset and see if that alleviates the problem.
If you did not do anything firmware-related, or you did not drop or submeged your device, the best you can do is to make a warranty claim, pure and simple, if you have no way to make such claim, well, next time you should consider getting a device from an official source
I've read other users have had same problem. Ones I read said it was motherboard issue had to have sammy replace it.
Thank you guys
There is also built-in sensor test. Open dialer and dial *#0*#
I noticed a problem when I was playing Asphalt (racing game on me Note 8). I am unable to use the Tilt controls to move the scar.
Testing out the Sensors using *#0*# at the dialer revealed that all the SENSORS was faulty.
I reset the whole phone just now. The issue is still there with the sensor. As expected Auto rotation doesn't work.
Running the latest version 8.0.
I recently changed my motherboard (under warranty) 3 months back cos something was faulty. Seems it may be another motherboard issue.
Anyone else in this thread solved the issue?
Hey everyone I'm facing the same problem. All sensors stoped working but they were working before on 7.1.1 and i updated my device to oreo and realized all sensors stoped
Then i got another updated for about 900mb i thought maybe this update will fix them and also that update said tha after updating the user cannot downgrade to nougat but after updating the problem still exsist. Please if anyone can help i also try to flash same oreo firmware with odin but doesn't fixed the sensors
Just 2 days back my note 8 started having a weird issue. My auto rotation stopped working so I went to *#0*# and my accelerometer ACC Raw Data : X is stuck at -32723 while y and z fluctuate. When it comes to x angle its fluctuating between -82 and -88 when i rotate from portrait to landsape and y and z are fluctuating between 0 and 7. I used an app to test accelerometer from playstore and they all say my X= -78 and its frozen there while y and z are working fine. I don't understand the problem here, did someone face a similar problem? can someone help me out with some solutions. It is a note 8 snapdragon unlocked model on the latest November security patch. All other sensors gyroscope etc are working totally fine they show x y z reading fluctuating.
The weird part I don't understand is how the *#0*# ACC Raw data shows x as frozen while the angle is fluctuating between -82 and -88, and all the apps from playstore showing -78 frozen value. I searched as much as I can about this issue but I couldn't find anything even close.
Just tested my N950U1 (SD, Latest security patch update), all sensors are working fine. This rules out your issue is caused by FW-update imho.
I think that your problem is just that the sensor behaves erratically, I dont believe there is some easy fix, trick or clever app to solve it, in the end it may be a motherboard issue, sorry
Hello i have issue with Le2 x522.
Phone seems to have wrong working sensors.
For now its LSM6DS3 - Its accelerometer and gyroscope
In accelerometer menu X axis seems to be reversed so when i rotate phone on one side screen gets rotated in oposite.
Also orientation sensor looks pretty off.
I have tried google maps trick, also tired MIUI9 diagnostic menu calibration but it didn't work(punched phone few times in area of camera too).
Ended up with reflashing SmallEUI by Auriel(stock kernel) and still its not working.
Any ideas how to solve that issue?

I'm not sure about this method:
in miui 9 thread for le 2 by sagarmakhar, in the 2nd post, it was about volte, but involved a thing about sensors. according to him, wipe persist from his recovery, then flash stock rom and then copy the 'sensors-settings' into /persist/sensors/ (I don't remember the folder now, please refer to that post) and reboot....May work, i don't think that it can brick your device but try at your own risk:fingers-crossed: Good luck
Hello everyone,
A few days ago I installed the V11.0.4.0.PFGMIXM firmware and no longer face the Proximity problem anymore.
Just download and flash newest Firmware You can download it at here: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/lavender/
perfect, thanks for sharing, excuse me, after doing this do you know if it also solves the GPS location problems?

I don't meet any problem with GPS location before and after flash this firmware.
I just started experiencing a proximity sensor issue on MIUI 11, EU version 11.0.4.0
It occurred a few times after longer phone calls (more than 10 mins) when I removed the phone from my face, the screen would not light up. Neither the lock button nor the fingerprint sensor would wake it up, and I had to wait for the other person to hang up. Or maybe it only reacted to the lock button after 5 seconds or so.
I don't remember this happening previously. Is this something you guys have experienced?

I faced same problem and i never paid attention to it. Now and I'm reading your post, i come to realize that the redmi-note-7 has a sensor problem and i have a miui 11.0.4.0 global version
I have heard about other people having proximity sensor issues on earlier versions of MIUI, also different editions (China, Global, EU). I've even advised some of them to re-calibrate the sensor through the service menu. I've been using the phone for 9 months now, I believe. I've updated it regularly and never reset it to factory settings. If this keeps up, I'll try re-calibration. If it doesn't disappear with the calibration or the next MIUI update, only then I'll consider factory reset
Hello
How I have Redmi Note 9 Pro MIUI 11.0.4.0, how can I turn off the proximity sensor? I have the screen problem other people are mentioning above
