Fastboot won't boot - Xiaomi Mi CC9 / Mi 9 Lite Questions & Answers

I've unlocked my mi cc9 with the mi unlock tool. The phone rebooted then I tried to enter fast boot to flash twrp and the phone flashed the fastboot screen then rebooted normally automatically. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did it reboot from fastboot to system while it was connected to a pc?
Which rom do you have?

It's stock rom still i couldnt flash twrp. I hold down and power to boot fast boot not connected to PC and it flashes the fastboot screen then reboots to system

Reboot your device. Right after the screen shuts down press the volume down without the power button.
Maybe the device reboots because you are pressing the power button

That works thanks now the next thing how do I find out if I have pyxis or Vela device

Check the storage capacity. If it is 256gb it is vela.
Check the back side of the phone. If meitu is written on the back that is vela.
There is also a fastboot command to check the device name but that won't be necessary. Only vela has 256gb of starage. And only vela named meitu

Nokia 8 unable to boot into recovery

Hi
I need help to reboot into recovery.
Have tried most methods on youtube and most android webpages.
The vol up or down and power key all combos.
Only thing i could get was into safe mode.
Model: TA - 1004
Hardware: 64gb storage/ 4gb ram
Software: Oreo8 and was nougat 7.1.1 (didnt work for both)
Dev options: OEM unlocking selected.
Appreciate if anyone can help. Thanks!
Hello,
1- Nokia off.
2- Plug USB cable (mandatory).
3- Then push on vol+ until android robot appears.
4- Then push Power On first, maintain it and then press Vol+ to launch recovery menu.
Works fine for me.
Regards

Appreciated ty. gonna try
This does not work for me. I've watched videos on YouTube, and still, nothing. If I hold down the volume-up and power buttons, I just get the android logo over and over. This is a pretty essential functionality to be lacking. Someone on Nokia Support forums said some of the phones do not have a recovery?
Personally I tried several methods for booting into recovery, using the button combinations that were instructed on different sites. In the end the only method that worked for me, was enabling Android debugging and using adb to boot into recovery. Too bad that after all that, the recovery was of no help for me, as there was no option to wipe ART cache.

Same experience here, and again I was going for a cache wipe, but apparently Oreo manages cache different to Nougat. Here for what is worth, to the original questioner, is the note I made having finally got into recovery after many frustrating attempts:
1. Connect via USB cable to PC
2. Ensure ADB debugging is on and the "Transfer Files" mode is selected
3. At the command-line type: adb reboot recovery
The phone will reboot to an image of an android robot on it's back with a red exclamation mark and "no command" written on the screen
4. When you see this, first hold the power button down and then, while still holding the power button, press Vol+
You should now be in the recovery menu

I played around with this method, originally Posted by cb_diamond, and found it sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, this may be of help to the first questioner. Almost the same sequence as previously described but holding down Vol+ before attaching the cable, this seems to work consistently for me.
1. Power off your Nokia 8
2. Hold Vol+ down (and continue to hold it down)
3. Plug in a USB cable from your PC into the phone, after a few seconds "Powered by Android Appears" and several seconds later the image of the green android robot appears on screen. You can now let go Vol+
4. Next hold the power button down and while doing so press Vol+
Hopefully you are now in the recovery menu

How to run TWRP on P10 VTR-L09?

As a newbie hoping to root my P10, I have just entered a magical world that is confusing to me. After reading many posts about installing TWRP on the P10, I have no success running TWRP: all I get is the stock EMUI recovery.
Am I missing a secret maneuver?
This is what I did:
1. Unlocked
2. Powered Off and On
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-vtr.img
3. Power Off
4. Try to Power On with Power + either Vol Up or Vol Down for a few seconds
Each time, I get EMUI Recovery instead of TWRP.
Would love some insights on that. Huge thanks in advance for any gentle guidance you can give.
Try to unplug the usb before you boot into recovery.
This should work.
To get root use the magisk tutorial. It's the safest method and you can hide it from apps.
Thank you for your advice, @Hamburg.
Oddly, the device still boots to EMUI Recovery instead of TWRP.
Same when I use
fastboot flash recovery twrp_3.1.1_fromfuture.img
First there is a screen that says that the device is unsafe because it has been unlocked, and to press the Up Volume for three seconds to enter recovery. That's when it boots into EMUI Recovery.
Shortcut combination is tricky to enter recovery, it usually require several attempts to get it right. With these devices, after logo, it is vol down + power again if I do not remember wrong (not just volume). Check the button combination again, just I case
Don't press the volume down button when the bootloader screen tells it.
Start the phone with this instructions:
Press and hold the power button until the phone vibrates, press and hold volume down and release the power button.
Hold the volume button until twrp shows up.
The Bootloader screen will also be present but will show you something linke "booting recovery" instantly.
If you get to the UI you can also boot into TWRP with the ADB and Fastboot Tools "adb reboot recovery".
I flashed TWRP 3.1.0 and it worked fine.
Maybe you can also start the recovery image from Fastboot directly by "fastboot boot recovery [VariableNameofTWRP].IMG"
Thank You!!!
Thank you so much @Jannomag and @ChipCollector !
Both of your instructions work (on my phone with Volume Up instead of Down).
In case someone else is reading, here are the full details to load TWRP on this particular phone.
1. Unlock
- get unlock code from https://www.emui.com/en/plugin/unlock/detail
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot oem unlock UNLOCK_CODE_FROM_THIS_URL
2. Install TWRP
- Remove cable, reboot, plug in
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-vtr.img
( substitute your image name, e.g. twrp_3.1.1_fromfuture.img )
3. Run TWRP
Unplug, power off, then EITHER
- Remove cable
- First Option:
--- reboot, plug in
--- adb reboot recovery
- Second Option:
--- press Power until the phone vibrates
--- immediately press Volume Up and hold, quickly release power, keep holding Volume Up until the TWRP screen appears.
Now I'm at the scary place where I have to do make the right choice and not brick this thing.
The question is answered, so I will ask my next question in a different post.
Huge thanks!!! :good:
Hi guys, who has a working link for a P10 (Emui 9) TWRP image?
Thank you in advance

Fastboot and Recovery not working, only ROM functioning

I'm basically locked out of fastboot and recovery, neither adb commands or power/volume keys are helping.
I'm on Resurrection Remix Nougat version 5.8.4 9 (september 2017, outdated) and I'm not quite sure how to fix this issue.
Any help is really appreciated, thanks.
I fixed the issue
Have you fixed this ?
If not have you tried booting in to recovery via the about phone -> system update -> three dots at the top right and 'reboot to recovery mode'
?
hey, I have the same issue. I cant boot into recovery mode anymore. how did you fix it?
1.Power off
2.Hold vol+,vol-,power button together until you see mi logo, release power button.
3.wait, maybe take more than 10 secs.

Solved:
1) used @Magendanz tip how to switch in download mode:
UPDATE: With the right timing, you can break out of a boot loop into Download Mode...but it's tricky:
Insert USB Type C cable connected to your PC
Press and hold the Power and Volume Down keys for exactly 7 seconds (hard reset)
Release the Power key and press and hold both Volume Up & Down keys (enter Download Mode)
If you don't see the blue bootloader unlock warning screen, keep repeating the above two steps
2) in Odin install this TWRP (twrp-3.3.1-7-T510XXS3ATB4-20200413.tar.md5)

[SOLVED] New update installed and stuck in boot logo

ROG phone 3 Strix Edition Global
Scenario:
1. 21-SEP-20 11:45 PM~ phone rebooted and download update auto prompted (done usual stuff for update by selecting to proceed)
2. 21-SEP-20 11:55 PM~ download and installation completed and system asked for reboot.
3. As of this writing (22-SEP-20 11:10 AM) still stuck at boot logo and can’t even shut it down
Anyone encountered the same scenario or has any idea on what to do to fix (except to Service Center)?

Hold volume button down and up and power button to force shutdown.
from off press volume button up and power on this well send you to Fastboot and press volume up to switch boot to recovery then press power button. then you can factory reset if you want.
