Note 8 Stuck on Main screen with "Phone is booting/starting..." message - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
I have a Note 8 running on Android 9 for 4 years and I have been using the phone just fine until this morning when I woke up and noticed the phone having nothing on the main screen but a message (in native language, temporary translated as "Phone is booting/starting..."). I thought it was my child messing something up so I left it alone and 2 hours later it still displayed the same message. When I clicked on the Bixbly button, it said that the function was unable in Emergency mode. I also tried restarting, force restarting and restarting in Download mode, but nothing works. The volume button, navigation bar are still working properly; I can still access settings via navigation bar, and I can answer phone calls though I could not make phone calls with it.
Any suggestions on fixing this issue?

From sammobile - To turn off the Emergency mode, just tap on the overflow menu (the three-dot icon) in the top right corner and tap on the relevant option. You can also manage your emergency contacts by tapping the Manage emergency contacts option in the overflow menu.

Hey ultramaq69,
Thanks for your response. Though the suggestion sounds very general, I found out how to turn it off via power option menu, and it is now working properly again, thanks!

Process crashed, information gone, features not working

So, I'm using the 64 GB ballistic nylon droid turbo. About half an hour ago, all of my open programs crashed, as well as some process running on the phone. I tried opening several again, and they wouldn't open, so I rebooted my phone.
All of my information was gone, including my personalized settings and my contacts and conversations. The home button no longer works; it vibrates when I press it, but nothing happens. I no longer receive notifications. The icon in the top right of the drop-down notifcation menu no longer responds. Except on startup, the phone no longer asks for my security input, even after i changed the settings.
I have no idea how to fix this, and apparently customer service is not open on weekends. Some help ould be appreciated.
Sorry to hear this.... It sounds like you lost a lot on the phone already. Are you able to get to the settings and just to a factory reset??
same problem

[Q] T-mobile OTA update softbrick phone

Hello and thank you for attempting to help me. I have a Nexus 6 from T-mobile. My dentist appointment yesterday brought me clean teeth and a terrible phone problem. While I was there yesterday my phone decided to download the 5.1.1 update OTA. I pressed the okay button and it restarted. On boot up, I get a white window saying it is "optimizing apps x out of 138". It does that every time I boot it up. After that window is finished, I get a black backgrounded lock screen. On the lock screen in the usual place is the time. In the top left it says there is no sim card. In the bottom I get the normal call, unlock, camera buttons. I am able to drag down the top to show the notification information. As far as I know there are no settings changed from the factory Nexus 6 I recieved from T-mobile. Now I have attempted multiple tasks to try to access my phone but all have been in vain. Here is a list of what I have tried.
To unlock the phone normally. The result is a black screen, a little beep, a white window that says Google services have failed. After a second or two the white screen goes away and leaves a empty screen. I am still able to hold the power button to reveal the white power off window and it works. I can also hold down on the volume and the power button to create a screen shot. It even shows the whole minimization of the current screen and fall to the bottom like it would if the phone was working properly.
I tried to swipe the call button and all it does is give me a blank white screen with a blue notification bar at the top. I can once again power off or screen shot but nothing else.
I have not tried to swipe from camera yet.
I can drag down on the top notification bar to show the the notifications, quick setting changes (Wifi, data, airplane modes, brightness) and the setting button to go to the setting menu. I can turn the brightness up and down, and turn all the other things in the quick menu on and off but if I click anything (toogle them or slide the brightness) and put the notifications bar back up I get the black screen with the white google services has crashed window. I can power off and screen shot normally.
If i swipe down on the notification bar and press setting It crashes once again and gives the black screen and white window that says google services has crashed. I can power off and screen shot normally.
I tried holding volume down and the power button then went into recovery mode. Held power then press volume up to get to the next menu and then deleted the cache partition. It has no effect that I have noticed.
As stated above, I do not think I have usb debugging enabled, I assume my boot loader is locked. This phone has not been modded by me.
I do not want to factory reset if I do not have to due to the very important phones and numbers i have.
You didn't make a backup before updating ?

Unless there is a previous setting in place that I clicked to automatically update it when ever there is one available, I do not remember picking to update. It downloaded and asked me to reset. I assumed it was a small patch and not something that could screw up my phone. I could of though. But no I did not.

Well, I'd suggest a factory reset even though you are reluctant. Otherwise, bring it somewhere for repair. But chances are they're going to tell you to factory reset.

Can't Access Service Menu

Having the issue with the unresponsive screen. Screen also goes out while making calls. This means I can't mute or put on speaker as well as select options when calling an automated system. I have tried multiple times to access the service menu using 277634#*#, but the phone just sits there. I even installed a different dialer and it still does the same thing. As I understand it, the phone should go into the service menu after pressing the second "#". I tried hitting the phone button, but again the screen goes black. I am using the basic version of Nova Launcher. Any help on getting my phone working would be really appreciated.

How to disable Emergency Mode from showing in lock screen?

I recently had my Note 7 stolen (yes, I still had the original Note 7) and I just got a Note 8. I made it so the phone can't be turned off and disabled the power off and restart buttons using a package disabler. I did this for the sole purpose of making the phone be more capable of being tracked, with my last stolen phone being simply shut off and all.
However, there's still a way of disabling the tracking if someone knew how. If they put it on Emergency Mode (which still shows if you hold down the power button via the lock screen) the phone will no longer send or receive data as long as the screen is off. I've tried to track it this way and it will not show on the map if it is in Emergency Mode. How do I disable this button and what is the package name for it if it has one? The fact that someone can still turn my GPS off even from my lock screen annoys me. There must be a way around this. So if anyone knows the package name to disable this or some other way to turn this off that'd be great, thanks.
I have Cerberus and in the settings there is an option to block power button, so when pressed nothing happens, no way to turn emergency mode on as the menu doesn't come up.

Bluetooth problems

Have my 7 plus exactly a week.
Specs as follows: Model TA 1046, Android 8.1, 1st June 2018 Security patch
I've connected my phone to my car system with bluetooth but everytime when I start the car the phone is connected to the car system by bluetooth but after 2 min de BT connection is lost when I look at my screen of the phone I see that Bluetooth icon is still connected but it isn't. I already forget the BT connection in the phone and in the car and reconnect but problem remains. In the manual of the car audio system they refer to change the bluetooth settings of the phone where you need to set keep connections always. But when I search for that in the phone I can't find that option.
Does somebody know how to fix it?
I experience the same problem. I have this problem since the latest update.
I recently got Bluetooth headphones and found that playback easily got choppy if a part of my body was in between my headset and phone, or if the phone got locked. I did find a solution to this however, and not sure if it would work for anyone that has Bluetooth issues as well.
It seems as if Bluetooth has its own app on Android 8.1, and due to this, it's getting managed by Doze or the automatic app power saving that's on by default. I switched off battery management using the following steps:
1. Go to Settings
2. Apps & Notifications
3. Tap on the option that says "See all x apps"
4. Tap on the top right hand 3 dots.
5. Tap on "Show system"
6. Scroll down until you find "Bluetooth" and tap on it
7. Tap on Battery
8. Tap on Battery Optimisation
9. Press the blue dropdown that should say "Not optimised", and select "All apps"
10. Find Bluetooth again, tap on it.
11. Optimise should be ticked, tick "Don't Optimise" instead, then press Done.

I've had the same problem after the Januari update of Pie.
Could not find any BT device anymore.
Tried everything that I could find on the internet, without factory reset.
Then I came across the Bluetooth Discovery app in the playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manjul.bluetoothsdp
With the motto: It's already broken, so what the heck, just installed it, opened it and .... there were the BT devices that were not visible from the BT settings in Android itself.
Connected to my car stereo and .... voila. Music streaming and phoning working again
I have been in contact with Nokia and they have said to try this
In the meantime, we can suggest you a workaround in order to sort it out:
1.
- Please go to settings > network and internet > 3 dots on the top > reset network preferences. Keep in mind that this will erase all the Wi Fi passwords.
- After that, please do a Soft reset: Press the Power button and Volume UP button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, release them when you feel the phone vibrate and you see "Powered by Android" on the screen.
2. Check in safe mode:
- Press and hold the Power button.
- In the window that will appear on the screen, select and hold the "Power off" option.
- It will appear a new window called "Safe Mode". Then, press OK.
The device will restart in safe mode. An inscription about this will appear at the bottom left of the screen. After going into safe mode, use the device as usual. Check if the problem has disappeared. Remember that only preinstalled applications are available to you. If you want to go back to the normal mode, you just need to restart the device.
