Hey,
Is there a magisk module or some app that can do it? Maybe there is an app that can pop up the camera and leave it like that? Or just block it? I want it to stay blocked and not pop up or stay popped up and leave it like that. Don't ask why, just is there something like that?
I am sorry, but i wanna know ,, why ??

LOL WTF???
You can turn off camera popping out sound and when you do that camera motor sound is almost unhearable.
On my previous phones I wanted a facility to manually turn the front camera on an off in fear of apps using the feon camera when not expected.
On this phone it feels safer in this regard because the lens is hidden when in not use and we can see it coming out when being used. That said, I have now seen few apps trying to use the front camera when not expected.
I also wanted a facility to manually turn on/off the front camera as today one site ads pop up & tried to take pic from front camera automatically without any permission.

What browser do you use? Chrome permission system wouldn't allow that

Well, yea but when there is quiet around you the camera motor sound is like a 280 dB...
you can use the motor apk to enable it always down. Just set the calibration. ONLY for aosp roms.
on miui, just disable camera access manually for all apps.

I was using chrome browser , i was very scared at that time.
i don't install any suspicious app from play store. it would be a relief for me, if i disable my front front camera.

I don't think there is any magical module designed to do that, you could disable chrome acces to camera usage though. However in my experience apps such as Instagram and WhatsApp seem to open the front camera in background a lot if left running on their "stories" page (I think it's more of a bug rather than malicious behaviour) so maybe it was that

Anyone know if the Camera app can be prevented from starting on boot? (Perhaps a little contrary to the spirit of the camera, but I use it more for development than for taking pictures, and I don't like the lens motor wasting its time and wearing out its parts). Does it use the "normal" autostart mechanisms that might be disabled by something like Gemini App Manager, or is the camera start up built specially into the guts of the android version on this thing?
Don't know about the details, but enabling the screen lock (swipe to unlock) in settings stops the camera from starting when waking the device with the power button (doesn't stop the start after boot though).

Well, it stops the lens cranking out immediately on power up, but as soon as you do swipe the screen, you are in the camera app and the lens pops out. I'm looking to avoid the camera app completely. I guess if I get up the nerve to root this thing, I can try out an app manager and see if I can disable it on boot, but I'd hate to do unnatural things to the camera and then find out it didn't do any good .
If you are on the home screen when you switch off it will not open into the Camera app.

That depnds on how "off" is is. Once the suspend or hibernate or whatever it is expires and it goes "fully" off, it always starts in the camera.
Are you sure you really turned it off when it went to your homescreen without starting the camera app?
When starting from fast-startup or on a clean boot it will always start the camera app.
The only time it doesn't is if you had it in standby.
A work around is to use this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
Use it to set links to your favorite applications.
When you boot to the lock screen pull down the notification bar, select the app you want, then swipe to unlock and it will open in the app you selected.
Of course it would be much easier if Samsung had simply enabled lock screen shortcuts

It would be really nice to disable the camera on boot. It would also be nice to get rid of this stupid mesage:
"SD card inserted. Change storage location to SD card?"
I thought there was a thread for that, but can't find it now.

I only started to get this message since the new update, it appears as though the SD card doesn't get initiated before the camera app loads and in turn thinks you've inserted a new card, when it finally does get loaded. Either they need to put a delay in place or somehow not load the camera app until it's established whether there is a card installed or not.
Disable the BOOT_COMPLETE permission in the camera app but make sure something else has it or you boot to a blank screen.
how can we disable a permission ?
is there a simple app for that ?
Thanks.

XPosed Framework and the App Settings module will allow you to adjust the permissions.

Thanks. However, As far as I know Xposed framework is for 4.2+ devices. Camera has 4.1.2, so where can I find that Xposed framework ?

Ok;
I've found and installed Xposed framework with App Settings module.
The app that I should change permission is com.sec.android.app.camera , right ?
When I try to chenge its permissions, it says "Shared packages not yet supported"
so ?
Get the latest files a quick Google search for Xposed Framework should get you to the right thread as I don't have it to hand and try it then. The settings asp changes from "Xposed Settings" to "Asp settings" in the latest version.

I got app settings from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327541
It says "App settings" as you say. so it should be the new version ?
but it does not change shared packages.
where else can I find it ?
---------- Post added at 10:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 PM ----------
my version is app settings 0.4 and it is also discussed here that "shared packages are not supported":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36029129&highlight=shared#post36029129
are you sure that it is working for you ?
I still couldn't solve this. Can you tell me which version you've used for this ?
thx.
I need help please...
Alright, so I can't find the answer to my question anywhere so I am posting here.
Is there anyway to keep the LED light on for taking pictures? I hate how the LED only turns on when the picture is actually being taken because the pictures are always out of focus or over exposed. I would like to either have a way to keep the flashlight running in the background with the camera on or some other kind of mod to do essentially the same thing.
I am on rooted 4.3 with S-off. If you need any more details, let me know!
EDIT: Alright, I found a flashlight app that keeps the flashlight on without being in the app or the screen being on. The problem, however, is that if it is on, the camera app says "Unable to start camera" when I try to open it. Perhaps the stock camera app needs a mod to allow the LED to be on when launched?
MrFrizzy
You could always start videorecording and keep the flash on during the entire recording. Meanwhile you can tap the photo button to take pictures. Delete the videoclip afterwards. Thats the only way I think. Or maybe with an app, but I have no clue which one would suit your needs.

While that would work if I really needed it, the pictures would be 1920x1080 instead of the 4mp. I'm really looking for an app or mod to allow the flashlight to stay on without the app being open.

I tried everything, but it just crashes. I even tried deleting the app's data.
This helped for me. Try to hold on the app and run one of the function: "Make selfie" or "Record the video" after that camera will work, but sometimes when i launch camera on the common mode, i have a black screen again.
How good is it? Care to share some side-by-side photos? (stock -> google camera)?
Does it enable cameraapi2?
Thanks in advance

In the other thread there are several comparison pics. I doubt you can get it working without canera2 api which needs root to enable. Without HDR+, whats the point of having gcam?

camera 2 api doesnt need root. just needs an unlocked bootloader. I would be better if we spam tweets to mi to unlock camera 2 api with next update as nokia 6.1 plus has it enabled out of the box.

So I've been getting notifications that Google allo has been using the camera in the baground And screen over lay, I'll add a screen shot as well. Anybody got an idea as to why it would be using the camera in the background? I haven't used the camera on the app at all, and I can't remember the last time I did.

Did you try to attach any pic? That might gave it camera permission.
Anyway you can disable that permission in settings/apps/google allo.

I did end up going in, and disabling the camera permission. I was taking pictures around that time, but with the camera app, and not sending them with allo. I just stored them on the phone. Its just my paranoia that makes me feel like it's taking a peak at my pictures even when I don't use the app, which it probably is doing.
Hello everyone, can someone help in disabling the rear display completely, as some banking apps detect as the screen is being casted or screen is being recorded and they dont work(problem in miui 13) miui 12.5 was working fine
There is an app You can debloat to disable it i believe. Either disable this app or remove. Sorry for not providing the name
If someone can help with which specific app needs to be uninstalled it would be really helpful
I guess it's "Rear display 1.4.6" (/system/app/MiSubScreenUi/MiSubScreenUi.apk)
