I have a v40 from AT&T originally. I carrier unlocked it about a week ago and ported out to T-Mobile. I tried to check for software updates using both SIM cards from T-Mobile and AT&T and no update available. How can I get this update?

Has anyone with an unlocked HTC HD7 on ATT recieved the pre NoDo update?
I've got the T-Mobile HD7 unlocked as well, no update.
As far as I know, no HD7's from T-Mobile have the update. You're allowed to update the device without a sim card and so I don't think unlocking the phone makes a difference. It's all based on the IMEI which links the phone to the carriers in Microsoft's database.
Hi,
I'm new to the community, and I registered for XDA because I haven't been able to find the answer to this question so far.
If I unlocked my AT&T HTC One using an unlock code I bought online, and now I am using it for T-mobile, will I receive the AT&T updates or the T-Mobile updates? Or neither? If neither, how can I receive the updates without rooting and flashing firmware?
Removing the SIM lock does not change how you receive updates.
You'll get the AT&T update.
HTC One won't update

I've tried to scan for the updates, but nothing shows up. I even tried setting the time to October 9th, when the update was released for At&t. Do you have any suggestions?
I was on AT&T network then i unlocked my phone to use on T-mobile. I want to flash my phone to latest android 6 my question is will i have to unlock it again after i flash to latest firmware? Thank you
Nevermind i figured it out.
I have ordered an unlocked Note 8 and will be using it on AT&T.
When it comes time for updating to Oreo from Nougat where will the update originate? If it is the AT&T server will I then be burdened with their bloatware?
Unlocked devices do not get carrier updates. Your update will come directly from Samsung. I am hoping that Samsung updates will come before Verizon, one of the main reasons I got the unlocked version.
the non-branded models get updates directly from Samsung
Unlocked Note 8 update
The link provided by samsung to read about the update mentions att which is why I got concerned about allowing it. I have at&t service but don't want their bloatware on my phone which us why I got the unlocked version. Can't post the URL because I can't remember my old acct info here so had to start over.
couple months ago I have bought an overstock LG V40 Thinq from ebay which is a Sprint and Network Unlocked version. I am currently using it on T-mobile and it works just fine other that VoLTE which doesn't work. As you all know Android Pie is not released by Sprint yet but T-mobile and US Unlocked versions got that update. So I am wondering, Is there a possibility that my phone gets locked to Sprint again if I cross flash it with US Unlocked version of Android Pie? Since I am not on Sprint, do you think that I may get the official update if I wait for a while? (I got couple security updates while I was on T-mobile network.) and if it updates over the air, is there a possibility to the phone to gets locked again?
