Flip to shhh not working - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I've noticed recently that flip to shhh will only work if the phone is NOT on a perfectly level surface. If I use it on my desk for example, it won't work (no vibration to indicate it has turned on). If I slightly tilt the phone, flip to shhh kicks in. Letting go of the phone disables it again.
Anyone else having this issue?

Sorry to say, no issues here. I've tried it on multiple surfaces and it always shhh-es. I have the P4 not the XL but I assume it should be identical operations.

i'm defnitely sure u need to call in an exorcist. for the time being, pls place the phone within a ring of garlic cloves
It's probably the instant messenger receiving an SMS message with someone signing on/off or you getting a message.
if you are using a case with a magnet in it it will cause it to turn on like if you were sliding it open to fix this download kaiser tweaks and turn off the option to turn on when slide open or keep away from magnet cases

This is indeed the only thing i can imagine is happening. Strong radiowaves can turn on/off devices and even uses them..... Just to give a exemple, I work on a warship and we had a 250KW powercable with some leaks in the isolation. This causes some of the other equipment to power on and even use it while all safeties were still on!
thanks guys for your help. i will try to disable the sliding thing. i hope it works.

My brother wanted to give me his old Wizard holster which closes with a magnet. I told him the magnet might cause my screen to turn on. Sure enough, as soon as the phone got near the holster the screen came on and switched to landscape just as it would if I had flipped out the keyboard.
Guess that's why my Kaiser came with a holster that uses velcro.
This has been driving me nuts since I got my Tilt! The slightest sliding movement of my screen would wake the phone up.
Thanks for the easy fix with the Kaiser Tweak setting!
Hi guys,
I did the Kaiser Tweak setting but still same issue from before. every like 5 to 10 min my phone comes on by itself.
any other sugestions?
now im having the same problem. wtf is going on. no magnets near my phone. it sucks lol

ATT Tilt turning on by itself?

Anyone experience their Tilt turning on by itself just when you turn it off (stand by-button on the side)?
I would turn the unit on standby and put it back into the case and it would turn on by itself and a 3 beeping sound would activate. I thought that the Tilt has some kind of motion sensor thing.
Is this an issue and how can it be solved?
If the screen slides out slightly the phone will come out of standby. The 3 tones could be the piano slide out sound.
good catch DaneMaximus
the keyboard uses a magnetic switch, by any chance......does you case have a magnet in it?
thats what i thought too but i would try moving it a slight and it doesnt go on.
Dont know about the magnetic...where is it on the case?
Ok, when i force the open keyboard it is playing the closing piano chime. But why is it doing this? I dont think its opening since the phone is new.
I know why this is happening. It turns out the the opening slide from the Tilt is a magnetic trigger and when I put it into my leather case, it has a magnetic closer lid where it is activating the trigger on the Tilt.
Just have to be careful when inserting the tilt into the case. At least theres nothing wrong with the tilt.
You could disable slide wake.
ahhh... good suggestion. How do you disable slide awake?-
Never mind found it in kaiserTweak.
Thanks for the suggestion!

proximity sensor issue?

Anyone else seem to have a problem with the ambient light/proximity sensor on their N6? I've noticed that a lot of times when i make calls, the screen won't shut off when i put the phone to my head... often with that resulting in my cheek touching something, and the person on the other end not being able to hear me. If i leave the phone at an angle against my ear so my cheek doesn't touch the screen, eventually the screen will shut off, but won't come on when i take the phone away from my ear, resulting in me having to press the power button to turn the screen back on.
Had that happen to me yesterday ... Rebooted and it hasn't happened today.

I'm having a issue now. Phone call comes in and screen stays on. I did a reboot, factory reset even installed custom ROM. It was working the other day. Anyway to calibrate this thing? Or do we have a bad sensor.
Also now my phone won't rotate screen.

Do any of you happen to have a screen protector on? As there have been some users that have been reporting issues with certain screen protectors. I believe most are tempered glass protectors that are the cause of the problems.
I took mine off and still nothing.

Did you try going to settings , accessibility , power button ends call, toggle that on and off.
We own two new Nexus 6 devices that are rooted and decrypted. We have the same issue where the phone screen stays on during a call. Rebooting fixes for a short period (hours or so) but the problem comes back. Other threads show this to be an issue with other phones (nexus 5) with Lollipop. Not sure of a fix. These devices are only a few weeks old so it is not a dust issue.
Having the same issue that just suddenly started. Rebooting does not seem to help.
Happening here too. Frustrating.
My screen turns off when taking the phone to the ear but it doesn't turn on again after i take it away from my ear.
It's pretty bad on my phone. The screen turns on when I am on a call making the notification bar drop down. Also, the phone doesn't wake up when I pull the phone away from my fasce 80% of the time. When I am on a call the phone randomly vibrates like I am getting a notification and when I look I have nothing. With all of this going on, making phone calls on this device is a nightmare.
Restore clean wipe did nothing.

The below mentioned fix is for brand new Nexus 6.
Did you try going to settings , accessibility , power button ends call, toggle that on and off.
After completing the above mentioned step. Reboot your phone and try making a call. I hope the issue get resolved.
I tried this step on an unrooted phone, which was recieved just yesterday.
I got this fix from some other thread.

Orzly works fine... It doesn't cover the sensor. The Slimwrap orange vinyl (leather) face was a problem for me, had to enlarge the cutout to get suitable performance. I believe the sensor is longer than it is wide, the opposite of the factory cutout? It frames the face of the phone nicely with this screen protector on and I didn't want to take it off. The 24mm added height changes the profile of the phone alot, it no longer rests on the speaker bars/guards. This must also have effected placing the wrap on as well. The larger cutout box for the sesnor is a detractor, but the sensor works 100%. This is good , as it is my intention to run nekid with this phone but its size precludes using a case with any of the pockets I currently own.

Thanks I was just having a crazy time trying to install the front, similar case (glass protector in front) and ended up cutting a hole for the proximity sensor about 2 times the factory height, everything (seems) normal now. I used this program to help make the minimum cut, and align correctly. Did you run into any issues with the thin left & right vertical part of the front cover? Mine seems to "wrap" around the glass protector, not sure if it will stay there though

Moto G 2014 XT1068 Screen keeps going black

Hi,
I have a Moto G 2014 dual sim 5" phone (XT1068). For the last 6 months the screen as been turning black when I'm using it like it has gone to sleep. I hit the wake up button and the lock screen is displayed. I swipe the screen to unlock the phone and it then turns to a black screen again. I have to do this for around 30 seconds until the phone behaves normally again. It happens at random times. I have tried doing a factory reset but this didn't fix it. I then unlocked the bootloader and rooted it and stuck a custom ROM on it (Blisspop) but it is still doing it! Anyone know the reason for this? Thanks.
Tried reflashing stock?
Do you have it in a flip case?

Yes....it is in one with magnets that wakes it up when you open the flip case.

Same here. The magnets also turn the screen off. When you flip the lid around the back, they are strong enough to activate the sensor and turn the screen off.
There is an Xposed module which you can use to control this behavior. From memory (I don't have it installed right now) you can selectively tell it to ignore the turn off message but keep the turn on message. I think there was something about turning it off using the proximity sensor as well, so it will still turn off when you close the lid.
In fact, I'll install it again, I forgot how useful it is.
UPDATE: The Xposed module is called MagnetOff. If you want to have your phone turn off when you close your case, you'll need to look into an app to use the proximity sensor to do it (I used to use Tasker).

You might well have cracked it! I never thought of this. It is my wife's phone and she always folds the cover around the back. I have ordered a non magnetic wallet and will test with that. Is this 'Xposed module' an app that you can download from the play store? Would come in useful if thsi is what is causing it. Did you phone suffer from the same thing? I was already fighting with Motorola about the warranty cover because I had unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. If this is all it is then thank you so much!!!!!

You're very welcome, hopefully it solves your problem.
I've got into the habit of keeping one finger in between the cover and the phone when I flip it around, so I don't use the software anymore. The main reason I originally found it was for the magnetic phone holder in my car. If I put it too much too the left the screen would turn off and keep turning off when I turned it on, but I don't use it any more.
That's totally fixed it! Thanks so much. :good:

Weird N6 behavior. Camera turns on when pulling out phone from pocket.

Just got a N6. I love the phone and updated to 6.0.1 but havea few weird things happen that has never happened on my N5.
Sometimes when I pull my phone from my pant pockets I will feel the phone vibrate and the camera is turned on. I have a Spigen case with kickstand on it. I was wondering if there might be some shortcut by pressing some buttons to get the camera activated that I may accidentally be doing.
I know from lock screen I can access camera by swelling at bottom from right to left.
Any suggestions what night be causing this?
Also another word thing that will happen is Google now will get activated while I am using my speakerphone. I am playing baby lullabies to put my baby to sleep and sometimes the Google now listening nice will get activated. I can't figure it why.
Thanks
Perhaps double tapping the power button is causing the camera.
Exactly my thought.

That was it. I guess this is a new feature of the 6.0.1 and didn't see it.
