I'm onto my second Nexus 7 now due to screen lift. The last one I bought from Tesco and this one I bought from Carphone Warehouse. I did all the relevant tests for a defect when I opened it but a couple of hours later I realised that I have a really minor case of ghosting, I have to leave it on one screen for a while and it only ghosts the bottom third of the screen. I can live with that. Last night I also noticed a black idle pixel which is dead. That annoys be but its only visible if I look closely. I also have the tiniest bit of screen burn on the top left side but that's alright, to me. If I put pressure on the left side of the screen it has a sort of burn that is not unlike the one you get when touching a television. Also the colours are really washed put in comparison to the Galaxy S2. I know that the S2 is oversaturated but its not just a little bit. The green background in 'dead pixel test' is a pale lime, almost white in comparison the S2 is a deep lime green colour like the 'crazy Sour' skittles. I obviously have a few options:
I could keep it - gaming is fine and fun
I could get a replacement from CPW at the risk of the other one also having issues
I could refund and get one from Google Play
I could refund and buy a dishwasher (Dead serious)
What do you think? Anyone ordering from Google Play recently have any issues? I heard they're "clean". Thank you so much.
I got mine from the Google play store and it does have some very slight ghosting, but i kinda expected it for a device like this. I dont really notice it when watching movies or playing games.
As for your burn in issues, i think you should get a replacement as that shouldnt be normal
You poor thing.

I think I'd give it a little bit of time to see if it goes away on its own. New Screens are sometimes prone to minor issues like that. I would see if it still persists close to the end of your return window. Just my 3 cents on what I'd do.
Hi all,
I like the screen image quality compared to the p9 lite. However when looking at it from a slight angle (short viewing distance, brightness high) I can clearly see diagonal lines. I'm quite sure it isn't the digitizer grid (as i know how that looks and under very bright light can see it to)
It looks like it is the pixel grid but I have seen phones with lower pixel density and at these i can't see anything similar.
Can't be the only one noticing this, what is your experience?
See pictures (around text Iphone 7) to see the lines...

Can't see anything special about the screen. Actually I'm quite surprised with the lcd quality coming from samsung's amoled. Maybe huawei is cheating with displays too
What about plastic "screen protector", did you remove it?

Didn't remove it at first. Recently received mu tempered glass protector so I switched removed the plastic one.
Still visible. And starting to be annoying.
Addes pictures to first post
Hi,
To show what i mean I attached 2 pictures to the first post
Look at the text (around Iphone) to see diagonal lines...
don't worry, ist not your eyes fooling you, i have exact the same Problem. These diagonal lines differs from brightness and angle you are looking at the phone but mostly still clearly seen. I DONT like this Feature really. Aside from this, my phone suffers from heavy battery drain when not using the phone at all. Today again coming back from work from 11am to 9.30pm having only 50% battery left. Not using it much, some reading/browsing on the net, some WhatsApp (may ten messgages) not camera and no other apps. Screen on time maybe 45min. Greenfy or Doze from the playstore are not helping any percentage.
Sometimes i really think of just buying a ****ing iPhone because slowly im sick of These Android kindergarten Problems all the time giving back phones 2 times until u get a working one. i mean we are on Android 7 right now and having super duper announced Android Doze, but still Android ist fighting with battery drain Problems as always.
Hi 'good' to hear I am not the only one seeing this. Don't like it either.
In regard to the battery, I'm not too happy about it but after the first to weeks I think it's oke. I can get a decent standy time. Didn't check screen on time. Not great not to bad I think.
Did you try clearing memory once in a while? It helps and the phone starts apps fast so not to big a problem...
Cant notice any of this on my screen with normal usage. Not putting my nose against the screen either. If i put my eyeballs about few cm from the screen, I can barely make out some of this, but thats not really how you use a phone...
Battery is pretty decent - after 21 hours of uptime (took it off charger at 4 am ish, used the phone during 8am to 5 pm for some phonecalls, facebook+messenger, instagram, little bit of web and google maps) its on 43% and shows me 9hours to go. Have you done factory reset after getting the phone? Some random apps you might not remember having can also mess with battery uptime.
I see it while using the phone at decent distance (normal use) of about 20 to 30 cm. So not pressing my nose against the screen at all.
Last night I cleared the memory and after 7 hours no battery loss. In battery viewer I have a flat line.
I have in the past used Note 1 then upgraded to Galazy S4 and now Note 9. When I tried all these devices in store before buying. Their screens appeared to be excellent. But once I bought them and used them for a few days I slowly started to see issues with screens. The note 1 I had slowly developed this redness on right edge of the phone over time visible only on grey background under low brightness. I got it replaced 3 times but then gave up. After that when I switched to S4 it had this reddish top and greenish bottom visible only on low brightness and white or light grey background. I got it replaced once and again got a similar screen with the same issue plus overall slightly yellowish tint on the whole screen. So once again I gave up and was using the same device from past 5.8 years. Now when I tried the Note 9 in stores i just loved the screen and ordered it. Now after using it for a few days I find on light backgrounds that the screen is slightly brighter at the bottom than the top. In fact it's like it's whiter at the bottom than at the top. I was thinking are there amoled screens which have uniform whiteness/brightness across the screen. In all other aspects the screen is perfect to me but this issue once I know it's there is somewhat annoying to me. How is your screen ?

dont think they had oled on the note 1 or s4 yet. but i can assure you that since Samsung made OLED, these screens are the best out there. and to tell you the truth, any 2018 screen would trump what you may have experienced in the past.

You do know that Sony is failing in the smartphone department right? They currently in the same situation as LG. Unfortunately, the screen won't save their smartphone division.
Edit: Playstation is where Sony gets their money these days. Sad to see.
"A growing thorn in Sony’s side is its mobile handset business which counts its revenue, primarily from its Xperia line of handsets under the Mobile Communications segment. Sales of $6.88 billion were down 5% from the previous year and the group posted a loss of $255 million.
The mobile communications group guided to a further 12% drop in sales for fiscal 2018 and a projected loss of $138 million. The group does see some light at the end of the tunnel – 5G wireless technology."
They gave been losing money year over year, quarter over quarter man. Their lack of innovation is dragging them down like LG.
By the way, last edit. Sony didn't make that OLED screen. LG Display did.
Displaymate rated the Note 9 as having the best display ever on a mobile phone. Just as they did for the S9, and Note 9 before that. Pretty much every new top of the line Samsung device trumps the best there was before it.... and the best there was has pretty much always been on a Samsung device. Sammy makes the best displays.
In any case, you can find other very good displays on other phones that look pretty much as good, but when a place like Displaymate puts a "best ever" sticker on a device's display, it is for a reason. Note 9 display is not much different than the Note 8 display for instance, but it is enough of an improvement to warrant the top billing from Displaymate.

Actually,it appears to be nothing more than a marketing company hired by Sony:
https://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/legal/testresults/xperia-xz3/
https://www.strategyanalytics.com/
https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=1051783
All companies on this level tend to use such garbage "research" for marketing, all claims like this should come with an e-coupon code for a pinch pound of salt.
What's worse is peeps getting their panties in a wad, feeling the need to either rationalize their choice in phones, trolling those that have "x" phone,& the fanboi behavior that's fueled by the fluff articles.
The Note 9 is a nice phone, got one myself.
Is it the absolute best out there? In the eye of the beholder & nothing more.
Others choosing something else is equally fine, one would be hard-pressed to actually find a truly terrible phone w/o intentionally seeking one out.
Note 9 earpiece smudges won't go away
Hey I guys I bought the note9 from 6 days ago. One day I was just rubbing the top bezel ( the space that has selfie camera, iris, led, ect) suddenly I saw 2 smudges, one above the earipeice, one under. I kept rubbing it and it doesn't go away. I believe that maybe when I was rubbing my hands were sweating so water entered beneath the glass. Here's a picture I posted here so maybe you'll get what I mean. If anyone has this issues or fixed please share it here. If the attachment is not working please say.
Thanks

I opened Samsung browser with no tabs open white screen. Slightly yellow or warm color. Looks pretty even but if I were to be extremely critical top side is a more darker maybe.
The white is definitely not like the note 8 white . Using amoled photo with slight blue light setting.

My Note 9 has an even white color across the whole screen. It also has a bit truer whites than my Note 8. Part of that may be that my Note 8 is now a year old, but overall I believe Samsung tuned the contrast down a bit on the Note 9 from the Note 8. Just to be clear, I am using the exact same display settings on both phones.... so I am getting an accurate comparison of the Note 9 vs Note 8. There is very little difference, you'd have to literally be looking at them side by side to notice the slight difference.

Compare home screen icons on the note 8 and note 9. Let me know what difference you see. I see the note 9 not being as sharp. But then on the same token , the note 9 like I said earlier is more natural and appeasing to the eyes.

I did I went from pixel 2xl, to pixel 3axl, then op7. My pixel 2 was better than the 3a I thought. But I'm loving this op7. So far my favorite and I'm on Verizon
How could you compare the 2 XL with OP 7 ( Pro ) ?
What about the battery life ?
It seem to be not as good as the 2 XL one ?

Totally worth it,speed is faster and screen is larger and better,I love it.you should try it,bro
I upgraded from a 2XL. It was well worth the money. The display is miles ahead, I consistently try 5+ hrs of SOT after owning since a week after launch. Software experience has been A+. Only real gripe I've had with this phone is the size is kinda unwieldy. I've gotten over it though. Don't use camera much, so that is not something I can really comment on. Speakers are also better than my 2xl as far as quality goes IMO. No regrets here.
This is a great hardware and software upgrade! 7+Pro is my best DD for 2019! Cheers
Upgraded from 2XL.
The screen is miles ahead. Honestly, it's night and day. I didn't realise how terrible and "grainy" the pixel's screen was until I got this phone. The 1440p definitely makes a difference to clarity at this screen size, and the contrast, colours, black crush, viewing angle etc. Are just miles better.
The 90Hz is nice. It just makes everything feel a bit smoother. I could still go back to 60Hz quite easily, but in comparison it feels juddery.
The build quality of the OP7 Pro is really nice. The pixel had curved edges, but not really in a way that affected the actual screen space. The curve on the Pro is more dramatic, and that has meant occasional accidental touches for me when lying in bed and using it one handed without a case.
Speaking of one handed, don't expect much of that with this device out of the box. Surprisingly, the overall footprint is very similar to the pixel 2 XL, but the screen is obviously much larger. In particular, the length of the screen is an issue. With my Pixel, I could use the rear sensor to pull down the notification shade, or shimmy my hand a little bit to reach items higher up the screen. That's not an option here, so I've been using reachability cursor instead, which works pretty well, but it's a still a downside to the phone.
In terms of weight and feel in the hand, I actually prefer the OnePlus, though. I like the little bit of extra weight, and it's balanced really nicely in the hand. The curved back makes it really comfortable to hand in portrait, though the weight and size can make it more uncomfortable in landscape.
Onto the camera. One of my main reasons for buying the pixel, but I realised I didn't even take that many. The 7Pro is worse, no two ways about it. But is bad enough to be annoying? Not for me. After the most recent updates, camera consistency is improved, although it's not quite there in all scenarios. The 7Pro oversaturates images more, which I find annoying, but that can always be fixed with Gcam or editing. The difference really isn't enough to be a turn off for the average user, and the wide and zoom lenses are a nice addition for composition, even if they're softer than the main sensor.

Hi guys,
Have a question for those who have access to the new Pixel 5. I'm currently using a Pixel 3 and am considering an upgrade to the new Pixel 5. But I'm concerned with the Snapdragon 765G that they have decided to put into this phone. From my understanding the 765G performs slower when compared to the 845 found in the Pixel 3. And even the camera sensors are the same between the 2 phones. So I'm just wondering if the upgrade is worth it or if I should wait for next year.
Has anyone had any issues when it comes to the processing speed of the 765G?
Obviously very early doors to try and compare them but...
I have a pixel 3xl and the pixel 5.
Feels the exact same for everything I've tried with it with a couple of exceptions.
Pixel 3XL is slightly quicker opening the edit menu on portrait shots.
Pixel 5 is definitely holding more apps in RAM so less time spent relaunching apps
90hz screen is lovely and makes it feel like the pixel 5 opens and processes things quicker. In reality it's taking the same time, just looks better doing it
Not tried anything more challenging yet like color grading 4k video yet, but I'll try it out later
Pixel 5 camera is better in low light, especially the portrait shots. The wide angle also looks great nearly on par with main shooter

No lag taking photos at all took loads earlier without issue. Just a bit of delay in the photos app to process. Same as pixel 3.
I have a Pixel 5 now and I have my old Pixel 3 still here.
What can I say?... The only things I like about the Pixel 5 better are better battery life, more RAM and aluminium body.
The screen is not brighter, it even seems to have a more yellow-ish tint while the Pixel 3 display was just bright white (side to side comparison with full display brightness).
The speakers are awful, especially the one under the glass. It sounds so tinny and has very low volume, I have serious problems hearing the caller when it's getting a bit louder around me. The "stereo speakers" are a joke when watching a video. compared to the down firing speakers the one under glass is barely audible.
The full screen display is not very convenient for daily usage imo. I always tend to "hold" the phone on the chin bezel with my pinky finger and it happens often that it touches the screen and closes the app or changes to a different one.
As good as the P5 feels in the hand, and how good the camera is..... I like my P3 (not xl) more in the end. I even like the P3's bezels more than the full screen of the P5. (and I still didn't get over the punch hole for the camera)

Interesting to hear about your screen brightness. My P5 is quite a bit brighter than my 3XL when both on max brightness. Both are white with no sign of tint. Maybe you have a bad panel?
Speaker under the glass on my P5 is also poor.
I get the bezels points I had gotten used to having the chin and the notch to hold onto!

After some more testing I would say that the P5 doesn't have a slight yellow tint but the P3 (not XL) has a blue tint. I think now the P5 display looks a bit more natural.
Surprisingly both displays look the same in Nightlight Mode.
I just hope there will be an update to fix the speaker's low volume.
The 90Hz display isn't a big deal as I thought. I can use my P3 without even noticing the difference in normal usage (of course I notice it when I look for the differences). I think the P5 would be fine with 60Hz, or they should've gone for 120Hz.
Battery life so far is fantastic. (compared to the P3)

Can't see them changing the speaker volume much to be honest.
On screen refresh I guess everyone is different. My P5 is a lot smooth than my 3XL when scrolling Twitter. If I compare the P5 to my friends S20 on 120hz I can't see a difference. On my PC though I can tell the difference between 120 and 144hz! Maybe the size of the screen makes it less obvious to me?
yes, when using side by side it's absolutely noticable.
I wanted to say that it's not that important to me when it comes to normal daily usage, because I just don't notice it anymore (or I don't give it attention anymore after a while).
I also have a 144Hz display for my computer, and that is a difference you can always tell, without having a 60Hz display side by side with it. But I think the G-Sync (or any sync technology) here is the more important feature.

I have a Pixel 5 now and I have my old Pixel 3 still here.
What can I say?... The only things I like about the Pixel 5 better are better battery life, more RAM and aluminium body......)

Absolutely couldn't agree more with everything you said.
If my pixel 3 didnt have a broken camera and charging port I'd keep it.
Battery lasts about twice as long on the PIxel 5 - I miss the "blue'ish" screen and "2-button" mode though.
