[Magiskhide] Google Services Framework will not stay checked - Magisk

My issue is with magisk hide; when I try to check the box to hide GSF (com.google.android.gsf) it will enable hide but as soon as I exit magiskhide and reopen GSF is unchecked. I have tried everything I can think of including - clearing data gsf, reinstalling magisk manager, installing Canary manager and nothing works. Lastly if anyone has any advice for hiding root from chase bank app, I'd like to hear from you as well, I have tried locking bootloader, uninstalling, and installing within work profile using island, so far nothing works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would even be willing to pay for help with chase root detection.
Thank you all!! :fingers-crossed:

Normally changing Magisk Manager's name to anything else other than 'Magisk Manager' or 'Manager' and enabling Hide for the banking app does the trick for me, but I'm using other bank from another country.

You are awesome thank you, I tried using different search engines to find answers and for some reason this git page didn't show up. I don't know how this wouldn't be considered a bug, every other app has no issues staying selected (visually) but gsf can't keep a visual checkmark.
Hopefully it truly is hidden, and the gui bug is the only issue.

Any Snapchat Incompatibility?

Both me and my friend's Snapchats are crashing before it even opens. Only things we have in common is that both of us are using latest Android (through Custom ROMs, but they're not the same), latest TWRP and Magisk. I use AICP and he uses TeslaOS.
No, for me it works fine. Latest magisk

I am having a similar problem, as of 8/15/17 snapchat on the latest update is not working on my phone.
I have a rooted oneplus 3t with supersu and twrp, some side apps like flashify, root explorer, etc I cant seem to find the app or program that is triggering snapchat's safety feature causing it to repeatedly crash and not let you log in. I also currently do not have magisk.
from some searching it seems some people were able to solve this problem by unrooting and uninstalling magisk modules from their phone, or by using a root hide module from magisk.
Im not an expert but I plan to try the magisk root hide thing and if that doesnt work, do a full nandroid backup and re add one thing back at a time from titanium backup until I find what is causing the problem. there may also be modded snapchat apks out there that bypasses that error but I haven't checked yet. I'm still a noob at this so I would greatly appreciate any help or insight by anyone who's dealt with this problem before!
Try clearing cache/data for Snapchat. It was working fine for me yesterday, but this afternoon I randomly started getting force closes. After clearing cache/data and signing back in it works fine. I highly doubt it's a Magisk issue.
Also, Snapchat was an example, other apps, like Kung Fury: Street Rage, crash too, but only Snapchat actually gives the crash message, the others just keep closing

Snapchat has root/tampering detection. Can't help there (since I don't use Snapchat)...
Kung Fury does not have root detection (I just tested it). If a bunch of apps are crashing/force closing when you have Magisk installed (and MagiskHide active), your ROM might have an issue with WebView. Hard to know without a logcat from the crash though... If it is WebView, installing Chrome Beta and choosing it as your WebView implementation might fix it.

Changing WebView to Chrome Beta didn't solve it. How do I get a logcat of the crash?

Hello Man, i have the same problem on aicp. I have install another rom (CRdroid) and it's work like a charm. I think magisk is not fully compatible with all ROMs. Send a message to the dev of ur ROM for know it.

I just re-read your first post... Does MagiskHide even work on your device? Can you pass SafetyNet or hide root from a root app (by adding it to the Hide list)?

When I tried, I could pass Pokémon GO's safetynet. In Snapchat case, when the problem was safetynet, it loaded but I couldn't log in, this time it simply didn't open at all, when the app tried to launch it immediately closed and showed a crash message.

Banking app crashes

Hi,
I have a banking app wich loink I provide hereby: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsi.ruralviawallet2
In the latest versions it just crashes, and after force closing and few opening and closing the app tells me that the system is modified and cannot run.
I have MAGISK 16 with magisk hide and the app checked to hide root, USB debugging deactivated as well...
Tried to use the uninstall magisk and un-SU scripts and cache clean but still crashing, So it may not have anything to do with Magisk, but since I had it installed it may have left something over there that the app is detecting as a mofied system...
Any Ideas ?
Thanks so much for your help
Make sure to also hide the Manager. I can open the app just fine if it's added to the Hide list and with the Manager hidden.
There might also be other things causing issues... Check here for more tips:

Thank you
Anyhow it's still not working, I have uninstalled all the apps that can be only runt with Root in case that was the cause, but still crashing. The Phone is unrooted now...
I will try now to Re-intall Magisk and hide everything, see if it does work :S
If anyone has a similar issue or idea, all help would me much appreciated.
Thanks again

When you don't have Magisk installed there are a whole bunch of stuff that may trigger the app that MagiskHide otherwise hides. Try with Magisk again...
Thank you very much for your help!!
For people that's having the same issue, I've solved it uninstalling several apps like TWRP MANAGER, ROOT EXPLORER and other apps that can only be used with root, after did a wipe cache and rebooted.
Take care with TWRP, when you install the recovery it asks to install an APK and usually almost everyone hits yes. This app is most likely detected by some apps and considered as system modification. @Didgeridoohan thank you!! ( It may be useful to put tjis in your Wiki for everyone to be warned about this so you dont receive this question again )
Reinstalled Magisk, Hid the Magisk Manager, selected the app to hide on the list and it worked!
Everything's fine now.
Thanks a lot for you kind help

Banking app works only when magisk manager was uninstalled

Hello together,
I would like to continue using my banking app that worked in the past aside my magisk installation. I simply had to activate hide in magisk manager and I was fine to go without issues.
Since latest updates, this banking app only works if I have uninstalled the magisk manager app. I think this way of "app detection" is different compared to normal su or safetynet checks...right?
As there is a feature in settings that randomizes the package name, what might be the problem that the banking app nowadays recognizes my manager app? I really just have to uninstall the manager apk, then everything is fine again.
It probably detects "Magisk" in the app name (rather than the package name that you can randomise). There are plans to circumvent this as well. No ETA...

Chase Mobile App detecting root

Using the MIUI 10 EU rom right now and I'm still having issues trying to figure out how the app detects root.
App - Chase Mobile Banking App
This doesn't allow me to use reward points, but also does not allow me to add new contacts on their QuickPay Zelle.
The error message that appears is "For your security, the chase mobile app is not available on devices that have been "rooted" or contain malware".
Tried MagiskHide and even hiding the Magisk Manager (renaming it as well) itself to no success. SafetyNet passes and has no issues with other apps. Anyone have any ideas on what to do or what files it looks at?

After hide magisk tick for this app you'll have to reboot. If not working it's possible that this app has a second installed service apk which you have to hide too.

I tried this option too. Any idea what second service it would fall under? Thanks
This is an old thread, but I also ran into the same problem on my Pixel 4a 5G. In my case, using Magiskhide on the Chase app and renaming Magisk Manager got things working again. I'm also using the 'Universal SafetyNet Fix' Magisk module to keep SafetyNet happy.
However, the problem came up again for me around the time that I started using the Elemental X Kernel. I've returned to my stock Magisk-patched boot.img and Chase seems happy again. Maybe it's related, and maybe not.
You might want to take a look at your root apps and see if uninstalling any of them helps. If you are running a custom kernel, could try returning to your Magisk-patched boot.img too. Once you find out what Chase is detecting, then you may be able to rename/repackage the offending app and be on your way.
Edit: I read in another forum that simply installing the Chase app in Island may work, but I have not tested this. It should work with Shelter as well, since it's essentially the same thing (isolated work-profile app-management). I prefer Shelter myself, and use it to run two instances of the eBay app at the same time.
Edit 2: There is a more current thread here on XDA that has been keeping up with this issue. Anyone looking for the latest info check here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/chase-app-always-detects-root.4099627/
I have the same issue but my phone isn't rooted wtf

"Sundhedskortet" detects root

Hi
The new danish app Sundhedskortet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.digst.hc&hl=en_GB) detects root, and think i have tried everything in my own toolbox.
anyone with suggestions?
Got it working with a tip from another tread:
"You can also use "shelter" to isolate what the apps can see"
thanks to @Lu5ck
Sundhedskortet detects the hidden Magisk app. Use Island.
Tried Island and Shelter.
Fixed my issue with AL-Bank, but Sundhedskortet still detects root.
Tried uninstalling from main profile and installing directly in the work profile, but still complaining...
Feeling a bit foolish now... Forgot to actually uninstall from main profile, noticed the duplicate in my launcher, uninstalled - and now works like a charm (Shelter, but guess Island would work similarly).

Hi - I have the same problem. Can you explain what you did step by step? I installed shelter and then installed sundhedskortet directly using Google play in my work profile but the app still detects root
Thanks!
Peter
I have tried installig shelter and island - installed Sundkedakortet on the work profile but still says root detected.
Can you tell me more specific what you did to make it work?
Im rooted with Magisk and Magisk hide is activated + Sundhedskortet is hidden.

Have you uninstalled from main profile? And then remember to reboot. Mine didn't work till after reboot.
Same issue. Sundhedskortet detects root, no idea how.
Using magiskhide, rename magisk and app is added in the magiskhide list.
