Hello everybody,
I have a MI 9T Pro that fell on the display. It had no scratches because there was a protective glass on it, but the display itself was defective. Partly cut off at the top, only colors and now and then a blinking seen. Display has now been changed, so far everything is good.
I've started it now, looks good at first. Strangely enough, fingerprint didn't work anymore, is it because of the new display?
So I typed in my Screen PIN. And immediately after entering the PIN it restarts. Have tried a few times.
I also inserted the SIM card. Time, date etc. fits, it is also connected to the WLAN. But after entering the PIN -> restart.
I am now in the standard MI recovery. ON key + volume up key. There are only 3 points here: Reboot, Wipe Data, Connect with MIAssistant.
Wipe Data would be my last attempt as I actually wanted to keep the data. Connect with MIAssistant does not work. I installed the software on my laptop (MI Suite from pcsuite.mi.com), but the cell phone is not recognized.
Can you help me? What could be the problem? What else can I do?
As I said, before I continue with wipe data, I would like to try to keep the datas on the phone.

Perform a factory Reset using recovery mode. I happen to be a technician encountered this on my client. Fingerprint wont work anymore on MIUI12. only a few devices managed to have working Fingerprint after screen replacement. If your bootloader is unlocked, You can install TWRP recovery, you can access your storage on computer while on TWRP Recovery
What do you mean exactly? Does it no longer work without a factory reset? Or does it no longer work because the display was changed?
I think my next step will be to do the data wipe in MI Recovery. However, this will also delete my data.
My bootloader is locked. If I unlock it, my data will be deleted too, right?
Ok, Wipe Data helped to start the device with default factory settings.
MIUI 12 is installed. After setting a fingerprint, the device restarted, same problem as before. In CIT I found out that I had only 5 dot touch instead of 10 dot touch. Double Tab to wake up didn't work too.

That happen to me one month before! just disconnect the fingerprint sensor from the inside and voila!!!
Rip FingerSensor :c
Edit: and yes... you have to open your phone again!
Did you replace the screen yourself?
You may have one of the cheaper LCD replacement screens that are available.
Replaced mine last December, never had any issues with FP sensor afterwards. Have full 10 point touch. It's definitely an OLED and cost around $100 US from AliExpress. The LCD screens are half the price or less. LCD is more opaque, so not good with the FP sensor. Could also be that they have a cheaper 5 point digitiser attached too.

No, an "professional" friend has replaced the screen. But I bought it by myselfe on Ebay. 85 Euros, OLED ---- the digits on the backside matched with the original one. And it is an OLED display..... but in CTI Settings it only can do 5 dots on touch.
But anyhow, what opions will I have?
Not using the fingerprint sensor?
Using MIUI 11?
Waiting for an Update from Xiaomi to solve the problem?
Thats all bull**** .......
Double tab to wakeup didn`t work too ..... and it seems to be that scrolling down is not so smooth like before ..... it stops earlier.

Good for you .... Hopefully all works now fine.
The problem on my side was the new display. If it is not 100% original, you get this problem. I tried a lot of things, but nothing solves the problem.
But however, I am very happy with the Realme 7 Pro.

Hi, my phone currently has this problem at the repair shop. Did the fingerprint reader work after trying factory settings? The technician suggested to reformat/reset the phone but I don't want to lose my files.

after i removed the finger print i havent had the chance to format it yet but without finger print is working just fine after formating will give a review if it will restart aggain or not with finger print on
Update: I suggested to the technician to remove the fingerprint sensor and now it works. I'd rather lose the fp sensor than my files. It's not a really big deal as its almost 3 years old now. Thanks for the idea!

So, I was just using my Diamond to take a photo. After taking the photo, I went to take another and it said "Could not initialize camera" or something like that. I reset the phone using ResetManager, but when it came back on, the screen was not displaying anything and none of the LED's are working.
Now, the phone is working, but I can't see anything! I know it's working, because when it turns on, it vibrates, and if I plug it into my computer, it functions as a USB drive (I can see files on it).
Why is my screen suddenly not working? I tried removing the battery and putting it back in, didn't help. I tried holding the red reset button, didn't help.
Any ideas?
I'm using the most recent version of Dutty's rom (ignore what my sig says).
...quick update:
just reset tried to do a hard reset on the phone (hard to do since i can't even see anything on the screen) and turned it on.
when it came on, the LCD is working, but there is no backlight. there is a message saying something like "microp version mismatch 0" then "please upgrade latest microp firmware"
after that, it goes to the normal touchflo home screen, but there is no backlight.
i am going to try to load the latest (v3.4) version of dutty's rom to see if that works. if not, what should i do?
ok just got off the phone from someone at HTC USA support (866-449-8358).
he had no idea what the problem was. had me to a reset though the settings (clear device storage)
phone turned back on. still no backlight after completing all the steps.
then he transferred me to the "repairs" department. the guy there told me that he only deals with hardware repairs.
the repair dept told me that they didn't know what to do either, and told me to ask on www.htcwiki.com
apparently no one at HTC USA (or at least, no one i've talked to) knows about this problem.
ugh now what do i do?

haven't tried that because i don't have a copy of it...where can i download the latest official HTC rom?
at present, everything functions on the phone EXCEPT for the backlight & key LED's. the strange part is that the center (OK button) white LED does still work.
by the way, i got an email back from HTC tech support. here is what they said to do:
Thank you for your inquiry on your Touch Diamond.
I know how frustrating it can be to not have your device function the way it should. If you have any Third Paty Software on the device I would suggest removing that as a start. If that has no effect on the issue, we can hard reset the device. This will reinstall the operating system to the device and determine if it is software or hardware related. If this does not fix the issue, the device will need to be repaired.
Please follow the following steps to perform a factory default reset:
1. Press and hold both the Volume Down and OK keys (the bottom key on the left of the phone and the center, circular key on the face of the phone).
2. Insert the stylus tip into the reset hole at the entrance of the stylus holding slot (as if you were doing a regular soft reset). Once the screen goes blank release the stylus.
3. When a prompt on the screen appears asking if you wish to clear all data on the device, press the Volume Up key as indicated by the prompt.
4. Allow the device a couple of minutes to fully restart and let all device customizations finish before touching any button or tapping on the screen.
HTC Repair’s number is 1-888-617-1113. The hours of operation for HTC Repair is Monday through Friday 8 AM – 8 PM EST.
I hope we have answered your question in detail. Feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions.

no one has a solution to this problem? am i the only one who is having the microp firmware error and a non-functioning backlight?
tell you what. i'll offer $40 via paypal to whoever can give me (correct, working) info to fix the microp firmware error.
I had the same problem you had. It had been going on for a couple of months. Screen which stayed black after ending a call or after some time of inactivity it also stayed black after pressing the power button. When I soft resetted my diamond it vibrated, but the htc startup animation didn't show up, also after several soft resets.
I got my diamond only working by taking out the battery. Sometimes even when I put in the battery in after some seconds, it still remained black when I turned it on. Most of the times I had to take out the battery and leave it out for some minutes. After 5 or 10 minutes I put it in and it started the normal way. But after half a day or so I got the black screen again and had to remove the battery again.
I use original Dutch stock rom 1.93 with some tweaks. Nothing special or so....I managed to install a remote control utility so I could see the screen on my laptop. One day I got the exact same error you had. So I called HTC support in The Netherlands. They sent me an email with an UPS receipt so I could send it to EuroTwice, which takes care of the repairs for The Netherlands and Belgium. I could track the repair online and noticed that they couldn't find any error. I got my diamond back last week and when I turned it on, guess what....the screen remaind black. It did vibrate when booting, but the HTC startup logo didn't show up again. The repair ticket (the paper one I got with my diamond when I got it back) also mentioned that they couldn't find any error whatsoever and that they hadn't modified a thing on my device. Bad ****.
I then remembered that I had an extra insurance/warrenty I bought that together with my diamond, just in case. I went back to the store (something I should have done much earlier) and they tested it again, but because of the extra insurance/warrenty I got a brand new diamond. This one works perfectly. Tweaked it again and my screen doesn't turn black anymore. Haven't soft resetted my device in 4 days now.
So I should suggest to go back to the store and demand a new one.
I attaced the screenshot of the error I had...Btw...I bought my device on july 27 this year and got an new device last week. Normally you can get a new device here when the product doesn't work as it should within 3 days or something. It's worth a shot....

wow long story. so i guess i'm #$^$ed at this point.
i can't believe no one knows how to fix this, when it's obvious some sort of software/firmware error - not hardware.
i've offered a $40 reward for anyone who can fix this problem, but no bites so far.
i bought my diamond online back in june or july...i doubt the store will cover it with warranty. maybe i need a new phone
Maybe you can send the screenshot I made to HTC and ask them how to fix this. Or at least refer them to this thread. You said you bought it online. From a webshop or 2nd hand on ebay or something ? If you bought it in a webshop it's worth contacting them.
Furthermore I don't know how the legal stuff works in your country, but in The Netherlands we have a kind of protection for customers when it comes to products and their economic life. This means that for some devices the manufacturer has to repair it for free. For instance a washing machine or television. You can expect that it lasts for a minimum of 4 years. If it breaks down after one year or so, you can take it back to the store and they have to repair it. The vendor has to prove that you are to blame for the malfunction of the product, but in 99% of the cases they simply can't. Good luck with this matter.
http://www.htc.com/sea/CS_Mail.aspx
I'll pass on that screenshot...but who knows if it will help. HTC hasn't been too helpful so far...
anyone have any more info on how to maybe fix this?
anyone? anyone?
i'm still stuck with a phone that has NO BACKLIGHT!
i also just realized that the Wi-Fi is no longer working.
grrrrr....
ok $50 to whoever can fix the microp problem on my phone!
Have you installed the original rom yet?? By a full reset the original rom is not comming back only your duttys. If you did not flash it yet with original you should do it. When the problems after this stil occur you can send it to a repair shop. Normaly this is then under waranty.
No point of discussing when original rom has not been tried.
You can download original rom from the HTC site.
Grtzzzz

I got this error on saturday n till yesterday I was tryin to find out somethin to fix it....the conclusion is - yesterday I sent it for warranty repair
Even with no display and buttons I flashed stock 1.93xx ROM and also stock 1.93 SPL - nothing changed...problem remained. I was unable to do Hard-reset ´cause "reset button" didn´t work. And very good notice - a few days before this stuck I couldn´t turn on wi-fi. I didn´t realize that it has somethin with this problem till now - I see You got same symptoms
Really didn´t find the solution so only way was to send for reapir to authorized service. Off course like a warranty service n I hope that I didn´t lost warranty - couldn´t proof if flashin of stock SPL was really succesful - but PC didn´t show any errors after the whole procedure...
Hi All,
I noticed an update for my z3 compact and done it, nothing gone wrong after that, but 2 weeks passed and i noticed i cant pull down my status bar, but the status bar can be accessible when the screen is locked or when im on landscape mode. So i assume theres no lcd or other part broken, just the system or framework got stuck somewhere. The phone is running Android 5.1.1.
I would be very grateful if anyone can help, im still Stock n not rooted. Should i consider rooting my z3c? Ummm i do try to find excuse to going back on my BingeFlashing lol
thanks.

Simply Factory reset your device and the Lockscreen should be working just fine
Might be a capacitative sensor issue.
Try entering the service menu (bring up the phone dialpad and enter *#*#7378423#*#* ), then select Service Test -> Touch Screen.
See if you can touch and draw to the top edge of the screen. If not, you might have a faulty capacitative sensor (it's eligible for warranty replacement).
Hi all
Thanks for the quick reply. Well i had done the factory reset suggested above and the problem still persist.
Try inputing the Z3c Secret code above. And i cant really assume its ok or not. Since i cant draw until the top part which is the location of the status bar, but on the other hand, well i cant draw untill the bottom part which the home n back area as well.
I had a similar problem with my z3c recently and I sent the phone for repair and it was covererd by warranty
Ummm somehow i fixed this issue by using a hairdryer on the top part of the screen, turn my z3c off and i blow it for like 10 too 15 mins or untill it feel heated abit, next put it on a air proof container with some hard salt inside well it suck moisture if ur guessing. Let it under the sun for like half day. Come back home n turn it on, and its normal again......... man i feel weird. Or maybe my screen got some water inside? I dunno
i have same problem
Anyone who cannot swipe down notifications or quick settings, due to a broken digitiser, can follow these instructions:
[emoji7]
Download 'All in one Gestures' app from the playstore.
Go to the 'SWIPE' tab.
Enable.
Under 'Edges' , select 'Top Area'.
Then via the apps settings, choose 'Personalization'.
Now under 'Swipe Area', go into 'Edge Preference.
Make 'Opacity' 0%
With 'Edge Sensitivity' start from 0% and keep moving the slide left until the swipe down works, mine is set at 90px.
'Edge Width' 100%
'Swipe Distance' 0%
Now under 'Touch Feedback' turn off both 'Toast Message' and 'Animation'.
Then turn down 'Vibration Intensity' to '0'
Done.
You now have the screen functioning as normal.

Obviously this started a couple weeks after the warranty has expired.
Now I'm using 'j touch' app to have a floating button with gesture and it's pretty good.
I will try the that you handed suggested...
There is anything else that I can do to resolve the problem? But I think is only hardware failure

Hi everyone,
Before starting, i want to apologize if you don't understand everything, i'm a french guy and i think the only way to having help is to come here, 'cause the french forum aren't really alive about the Nexus 6...
Yesterday night, i had a very bad night. For some reasons, i threw my phone away on a wall. Then, i saw only this morning that i completly broke my screen. Now, it doesn't work at all, i can't do anything on it.
But, i can enter in Downloading Mode (i don't know if its his name ??? Just by pressing power and volume down) and i hoped that i can used this to enable the Debugging Mode, or find any other way to take back all my SMS, who is very very important for me. Do u think that there is a way to get them back ? I heared that i could flash a kernel with debugging mode enabled, but i can't find this on the web...
I used the Textra app for texting with my contacts. I never used the Hangout app (and i think i regret if there is a cloud save option).
I really hope that you're gonna help me guys...! Ask me if you need more informations, or if you don't understand something.. lol

Oh, ouch! That seem to hurt. Be careful with your fingers.
What I would suggest you to do is to install vysor (which is a chrome plugin) from the internet on your computer. Hook your phone to the computer with cable and the program will install the app on your phone. Now through adb it will show your mobile screen on your computer and you will be able to control your phone from your computer. Search vysor in Google and search for it on YouTube too to better understand how it works.

Unfortunately yes, you do need that enable with most apps seeking access externally to control the phone. I assume that the upper level of the screen is not working? Do you have an OTG cable and a mouse that you can use and try going into developer options to enable debugging?

That would be a good solution if you're able to navigate with the little of the screen that is working. Sometimes autorotating the screen will help you see part of what is at the bottom of the screen. That way you might get into developer option with an otg cable.
It there are anyone else here with any other solutions, it sure would be nice to hear.

I just bought the Honor Mate 8 to replace this nexus, 'cause the Pixel XL isn't available in France and the Mate 9 cost too much. I hope it will be better in performance, but i'm sure i will regret all the new Stock Android updates
Tomorrow, i will buy this OTG Cable. We'll see if it works well..!
Hi friends,
I would like to share this with you... : My screen is now completly black, only maybe... 5 % of is working lol. BUT... I've bought an OTG Cable today and with luck and by knowning my phone perfectly, i have enabling this famous Debugging mode and now, i can finally use him with my PC.
I would like to thank you for your help, and a goodbye because of my next phone who is a Huawei Mate (8... the 9 cost too much lol)
Thanks a lot !!!
Moral of this thread? Don't throw your devices at walls. 99.9% of the time, the wall wins. ?

Awesome!! Great that it worked. Good luck with your new phone. It seems like a beast! I love the design of Huawei. They've been making really good looking phones lately.
On the board I see six test points. The question is if any of these can be shorted to be able to get the device in a mode where it can be flashed despite being OEM locked.
OK, so the test points are below the fingerprint flex cable connector:

Here’s roughly how I proceeded:
Made sure that I’m grounded by touching a grounded metal piece in my apartment.
Removed the SIM tray.
Opened the device according to the instructions by Wit Rigs (youtu.be/1VIdpuXSFmI). Separating the top with the screen was quite hard as it is glued.
Popped out the battery flex cable connector, then the fingerprint flex cable connector.
On my laptop (Windows 7 X64) started MiFlash 2016.08.30.0, downloaded from en.miui.com/thread-345974-1-1.html.
Inserted the USB-C cable that came with the phone into the phone. (not yet into the laptop!)
Using a bent and cut staple, I connected the test points, then inserted the USB-C cable into my laptop.
Windows reported that a new device is connected.
Removed the staple, clicked refresh in MiFlash: A device showed up.
Flashed the latest official stock Android One ROM V9.6.10.0, downloaded from en.miui.com/download-353.html:
Initially I got a message that MiFlash cannot receive a “Hello” packet. It turned out that I was too slow. After connecting the device, one only has limited the time to start the flashing. I read elsewhere that it’s 15 seconds.
Success, my A2 boots up again! Now I’m only waiting for thermal paste to arrive in the mail, I will apply that, then close the phone again.

Can you upload the photo else where and provide a link maybe?
Please stop opening new threads for the same issue.
I think this is the third one I have seen now. I'm sure someone will be able to help you but with the phone being as new as it is you may have to wait or figure it out for yourself. I have the phone but have not tried root yet because it's too early in the phones life to be messing around with it. Let the community grow first.
I do hope you made to get it solved though and if so you could document it so we can all learn from it in the future

Coming from Q&A platforms such as StackOverflow, I was assuming it’s better to use separate threads: The other ones are about Magisk on the A2, about clean installing the A2 ROM, and about using a deep flash cable on the A2. Finally being able to upload pictures, I am now fleshing out my earlier posts with details.
Anyhow, I hope that the information can be of help for others!

I bought a Mi A2 and tried to put android pie on it, but I failed successfully. I'm gonna try this endpoint method, cause I cant flash images with fastboot.
Unfortunately I can only try this on Monday, cause I don't have the tools, but a friend in college has. I wanna know a few stuff for the grand day:
You told that the device is glued. Is it really hard to open it? and do i need to glue it back?
In the endpoint method, I need to manage to connect the two points with a metal tool, right? And i'll do the process with the battery disconnected, correct?
You wouldn't believe it, but this is my first android and I had it working for less than an hour. I have always being an apple user, but my devices were always jailbroken. I thought that with android things would go easy, but I ****ed them up hahah
As I saw you posted somewhere else, I always like to push my devices to the limit and thats why I am a computer science student...
thanks a lot anyway, and wish me luck on Monday!! Hope I can do it...

I used an X-ACTO knives (careful!), and yes it was somewhat hard to open.

The A2 is glued with double sided tape going along all the edges. I removed that tape, then applied pieces of double sided tape (red TESA) in select locations. Applying double sided tape along all the edges should be practically impossible to do manually. Notes:
The original tape provides a certain level of water protection. So I’m not sure that it was a good idea to remove it. Between the pieces of tape that I applied there now are gaps, which however are not visible from the outside.
The device can be put together without tape at all, and the screen keeps attached to the body. What happens without tape in situations of stress, I don’t know.
So far everything has been working out fine for me, and my A2 already survived a couple of crashes (don’t use the ugly case).
In the endpoint method, I need to manage to connect the two points with a metal tool, right?

Yes. Note that after shorting the contacts, you have limited time to start the flashing. I think it was 40 seconds.

Yes that’s the recommended method. It also allows you to quickly reset the device, i.e. by unplugging the USB cable.

Same for me! Along the way I learned more than I wanted to. It’s interesting to see the device opened with all its components, removes a bit of the magic.
Anyhow, good luck!

Oh, right. It's the front. My bad.
Typing from my unbricked MI A2!
Thank you for the post. Everything went well. It only took me more time than it needed cause i was trying to flash the comrpessed ROM (yes, I really did it). After that everything worked fine. Remind on your post for noobs like me that you need to extract the file before flashing it!
Hello
I just try the method but me it does not happen anything if I disconnect the battery I tried with several usb cable on several computers on several USB port and it is not strictly nothing
prblem
i have same problem
hi guys
so this is my question\story, back in may '21 got my zf8 8/128gb unlocked eu model.
forward 10 months the phone fell on its rear upper corner, cracked the rear glass and the main camera stopped working.
the price of a new camera module is basically the price of another good second hand smartphone. so, i found by chance zf8 16/256gb with broken (but working) front screen for dirt cheap (everything is in order imei serial numbers etc). first thing, swapping cameras between boards is ok, swapping boards makes the fingerprint scanner useless even though in test mode .12345+= the sensor is ok and i dont get any errors or messages from the system. i tried factory resetting, boot unlocking, factory resetting from recovery mode, setting fingerprint in safe mode, with no luck. what is going on? i found nothing useful on the net. it seems like there is some stupid solution that i am missing. what should i try next?
Maybe try setting the fingerprint in a custom rom, like LineageOS? It could work as it is probably something asus put in their ROM to prevent users from swapping things left and right. So if that lock is set in the ROM it could work, if it is firmware locked, whicch I think is the most likely, it most likely won't work. Still worth the try though

i was gonna try this but got cold feet, afraid i will get stuck with no working scanner with the original mother board. i will try rooting as a last resort although i was almost there. if only there was a way to get an engineer code or put the device in a service mode like the onepluses of the world...

i just tried it and.... its not working... swapped the boards and it worked fine on the original screen. lesson learnt
Another loss for right to repair... That sucks, maybe you could try to detach only the fingerprint scanner from the display to keep on the original motherboard

first, i tried, its nearly impossible to separate the screen from the chassis without pro tools and without breaking it. i dont mind breaking the already broken screen, but it will be risky with the good screen.
second, there is no scanner for sale by asus or any other shop on the internets and by looking at picture above from ebay you can see that the scanner is part of the screen electronic circuit...
i called the service center in my country to ask if its possible for them to swap the screens between my phones, and the answer i got was no. they said that i have to give them about 45 days to check the damage and only then will they give me a quote for the repaire . i dont want to sound like a karen, but i need to speak with a manager. it wouldn’t be fair to talk s**t on asus because the service center is not an asus owned and run operation, its an “authorized“ service center. so i need to hit asus zentalk forum or somethig… lets get this show on the road see whats really going on…
